If I want grilled scallops, I know where to come!! I will say over the past couple of years the portions have gotten smaller. These photos are BEFORE we ate. The 2 skewers of scallops, baked beans were $28. The potato salad was extra. The plate my husband got was also “short” in quantity. Again, the food is great but the portions not adequate.

I never give fives, LOL The ambiance? The music? The staff were kind and the customers were convivial. I've never had a better oyster po-boy! I have been craving fries with a special fierceness but I haven't had the time to sit down anywhere decent. These Fries Are perfect! I can tell they came from happy potatoes! ☺️ It's refreshing to have a restaurant this good so close by. I don't mind driving from Greensboro for this!

Been in recently as usual. Yummy 😛Peyton is the bomb of a waitress however Daylen, Lane & Makayla are up there too. Every dinner we have is above satisfaction and drinks are always relaxed and perfectly made. Atmosphere is the best for an enjoyable evening out.

In terms of what it brings to Kernersville, it’s a breath of fresh air, a fun place to grab a drink, and a reliable source of seafood options. At the same time, if you’ve traveled a bit, you’ll recognize Smitty’s as a worse version of what you can find elsewhere. Despite the unassuming shopping center location, Smitty’s atmosphere definitely stands out. The netting and pirate flags on the walls help reinforce a beach/nautical theme. There are also a variety of seating options from traditional tables inside and out to a seat along a wraparound bar. The menu here offers chicken and steaks, but seafood is the star. You can get it in a sandwich, in a fried platter, in a pasta dish, in a taco, in a rice bowl….you get the idea. While there may not be many types of fish to choose from, the number of permutations still offers plenty of variety. My wife and I opted to split a fried pickles appetizer and a fried platter with flounder, popcorn shrimp, oysters, potatoes, and broccoli. Our food came up relatively quickly, and it was hot and fresh. The quality, however, rated as largely just OK. The pickles were nice and crisp, but the accompanying remoulade had a confusing sweet note (relish, maybe?). The “famous” potatoes were buttery though they would have benefited from some herbs. The flounder was thinly breaded. Both the shrimp and oysters were good and paired nicely with the accompanying tartar and cocktail sauces. At $9 for the app and $26 for the pick three fried platter (including a $4 upcharge for oysters), Smitty’s pricing is higher than you’d expect for its atmosphere. Servers seemed friendly enough. If you’re in Kernersville with a seafood craving, Smitty’s has a lot to offer even if the quality is hit or miss. However, if you’re willing to drive twenty-something minutes, Full Moon does a better version of much of what you can find here.

I hate to post a great review of Smittys because I want to keep this local joint secret. They are my favorite eatery. You have a choice of indoor or outdoor seating all year. The staff is very friendly and welcoming while still giving you plenty of space. The food is excellent. Always a varied selection of specials. I particularly favor the bourbon steak tenders, my husband likes the caesar salad. Never had a bad meal here. Plus the beer is cold and the cocktails are delicious, especially the painkillers. Parking is plentiful. Great dessert next door at Brandy’s ice cream. Check it out, but don’t tell anyone.

Simply awesome! They totally met every expectation we had! Wonderful service incredible awesome food. And the price is good for what we got. This is definitely going to be a stop the next time we come to this area. Definitely worth your time to go here if you like seafood this is the place. Really like the music here too

This was our first time here and we were not sure what to expect. It was a bit confusing when you walk in and asked some people eating at the bar and they were super cool and told us where to wait. The food was good, and initially the staff was super attentive, but it was really busy and we were at the end of the bar so there were a few times we had to flag down a server. But the food was good and you could Really tell that the regulars really enjoy the slightly loud chaotic atmosphere. I will say that the section of the bar we were at had duct tape holding it down which was kind of lame. Overall it was fun and we would come back for a drink and an appetizer or two.

This restaurant is as close to a beach front Seafood restaurant as you can get. I ordered Flounder and got a generous serving of some of the best Flounder I have ever eaten. The only issue I had was most of the tables and chairs are tall, which does not bode well for someone with terrible back issues. So the Manager set us up with a lower seat and bar near the cash register. Did I mention the Flounder? Wonderful Restaurant right at my back door.

Smitty's Grille - grabbed the last to bar seats @ 7:00 on a Friday night. We were promptly greeted by a worker and she checked if there were any other seats open before we grabbed those at the bar. There are two bar areas, both U-shaped and only 2-3 tables in the very back. Makayla is the MOST enthusiastic waitress and you can tell she LOVES what she does. My bar neighbors ordered the shrimp teriyaki bowl and the crab stuffed flounder. They BOTH look fantastic!! Hubby had the blacked chicken platter with rice and tots. I chose the 2 item seafood combination consisting of flounder and fantail shrimp, with their famous potato's and Cole slaw. The chicken was AMAZING, the tots crispy and the rice simple & flavorful - just like he likes it. My seafood was hot & tasted fresh! I can't wait to return!!!

We go at least 4 times a month and my standard, non-wavering order is the Fish Nuggets with smokey remoulade sauce dip as my meal. There are usually 10 pieces so some days I get two orders! The menu description: Sauteed, Blackened or Fried. Nashville Hot (+1) Flaky swai fish nuggets, served with your choice of sauce: Classic tartar, cilantro tartar, smoked tomato remoulade, or lime ranch. On our visit yesterday my SO had the Salmon Sandwich on Potato Bun with tater tots = delicious! The tomato remoulade comes on it but we ordered more sauce to dip the tots in. Smittys employees are like everyones big brother or sister; they remember things about you, might laugh with you about a comment, always smile, attentive and the orders come fast. Really glad Kernersville has a "Cheers" type of place to go. I love the Buffet/Key West/lost island themed interior. You have to get a look at the tables in the back, they are epoxy full of sand and interesting items. Sitting at the bar alone? Just talk to the coconuts beside you haha.

One of my favorite seafood restaurants. I've never been disappointed by the food or the service. I always enjoy the fried pickle app and the crab cakes. The staff is high energy and consistently checks on you. The inside is very nautical theme - think lots of signs, ropes, and fish. However, it is an oyster bar so the majority of the seating is at a bar with limited tables. It's not my favorite place to meet with a group of people as it's hard to have a conversation if you don't get to snag a table. But don't let the tight space turn you away, as I mentioned, the food is scrumptious. It's pretty well known and liked in the area as there is almost always a wait - it's just that good! If you're looking to eat seafood, this is the place for you to check out!

We visited Smitty's Grill last night, and since it's known for seafood, I decided to stick with it. The ambiance inside was fun nautical, seriously it was like from SpongeBob with a lively energy around the bar that made for a fun experience. We opted to sit at the bar, where the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered some refreshing draft beers, which hit the spot. I chose the fried fish sandwich with french fries, but unfortunately, the meal didn't quite meet my expectations. The lettuce looked a bit wilted, and the tomatoes lacked flavor, which took away from the overall experience. However, it wasn't a terrible meal--I'd just probably try something different next time. My husband had the Nashville chicken sandwich and, while he shared my feeling of slight disappointment with the food, he still enjoyed the overall dining atmosphere. If nothing else, I'd definitely recommend coming here for the inviting bar vibe--it really makes for a memorable experience.

I tend to forget about this place but it never disappoints! They have a very wide selection of food Including a large variety of seafood and bar food. The service is always spot on and the food is delicious.

Food is always 10/10, service is top notch, and the ambiance takes a little getting used to for someone with crowd anxiety but it doesn't stop me from coming back.

Change the M to an H and you nailed it. Terrible service. Lousy atmosphere based on the raw sewage smell outside. Terrible service staff.

It's been a hot minute since I've been to Smitty's and I wish I would have been coming here sooner. We had an amazing dinner out on Friday. Love the vibe, our service was great and the food was top notch! We started with some drinks and appetizers. We got the fried pickles and the Nashville Hot Oysters. Do not sleep on those Nashville Hot Oysters. They are smack your momma good! Perfect with the fried pickles but that will be an appt I dream about! The hubby and I shared the Barge. A load of steamed seafood (oysters, crab legs, shrimp, scallops and clams). And it also comes with four sides! The price was reasonable for all that seafood and we can't wait to visit again. Loved our time and meal! Can't wait to come back!

Another fresh and good simple meal at Smitty's. I had the peeled and deveined shrimp (1/2 lb) with sides of onion rings and green beans. The shrimp were warm and perfectly cooked served with drawn butter and cocktail sauce. I couldn't finish them and will have a lovely snack later. The onion rings are freshly made and plentiful. Huge side order. Green beans were lightly boiled and fresh. Overall a good meal made better being outside on an early September evening with a friend. Service was non-intrusive and friendly.

A local staple! Still very good. Not too busy for a Monday! Ordered the firecracker shrimp tacos. They were amazing! Came with three tacos. Each taco had at least 6 shrimp. They were filling but not heavy. The shrimp were lightly breaded but crispy. I got onion rings as a side. They too were very good! Our waiter/ bartender was fantastic. He kept the tea filled and the beers coming. Great ambiance. Most seats are bar seats. Overall a great spot! Highly recommended!

I have lived in the area since 2019 and we never went to this restaurant because my other half didn't think it would be good. I convinced him to go one day and oh my goodness! I cannot believe we haven't visited this little gem before! I LOVE the decor and legit felt like I was in Florida (my home, so I'm an expert on that) at a beach. The only thing missing was the view! The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and prompt. Our new local favorite!

Have to update my review of this place. We haven't been in a long while. But now have been there at least 3 times this year. The place has changed a lot. So much cleaner and the atmosphere has always been great. Really have had a good time and good food every time we have gone! Big improvement!

Great place for seafood and drinks! Our server was very friendly, we were seated immediately. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe. We ordered Crab Stuffed Flounder, Fish Nuggets, Grilled Scallops, Oyster Rockefeller, Crab Dip and Fried Pickles. Everything was great, the crab was different, but delicious. The grilled scallops were 10 out of 10 and the portion was plentiful. This is one of my new favorite spots for seafood and I look forward to going back. Honorable mention for the mac n cheese side, restaurant mac n cheese isn't always the best, but I highly recommend trying.

Smittys is unapologetically authentic. If the wait doesn't tell you how good this place it, the food sure will! The second the doors open at 4, it's quickly filled with locals craving delicious seafood. I recently went and tried the nashville hot chicken oysters, the garlic seafood combo, and the tug boat. The oysters were a table favorite and had the perfect balance of spice and tanginess. The garlic combo and tugboat had a variety of seafood and it was all cooked well and had a ton of flavor. The staff are always super kind and attentive - you can tell they love where they work and they're always all smiles!

Love this place. Reminds me of a New England dive bar with great food. Love the seating- at the bar. Always people to tell too, the staff is super friendly. Oysters are always a favorite here!!

And just like that, the fifth star -- well deserved. I still haven't tried the oysters, sadly, but in my most recent trip I found myself craving another round of steamed shrimp (a full pound this time, as I was hungry). The result was spot-on fantastic, as were the potatoes and slaw I ordered on the side. And I put all that down after a novelty fried basket of calamari, also tasty. Did I mention I was hungry? It's not just the good food or the cold beer either. Smitty's just feels welcoming. I'm not talking about the decor, but rather the attitudes of the staff and the collective mood of the crowd. Come in, relax, enjoy a bit of company, and eat some good seafood in an air of familiarity and comfort. So maybe my only complaint is this: why can't I have one of these closer to where I live?

Smitty's grille was a great spot to dine on a Friday night - the energy was palpable! At 6 pm we only had to wait a few minutes for a seat at the bar and we were allowed drinks on the patio while we waited. Once seated, I was excited to learn that they had the summer seasonal watermelon flavor bold rock on tap - and it came extremely cold which I love. I went with two other girls so we all got an appetizer to split. We had crab dip, nashville hot fried oysters, and firecracker shrimp. Each was delicious but the star of the show was the nashville hot oysters. They came out beautifully presented on a piece of carlic toast with slaw and topped with a pickle just like a nashville hot fried chicken sandwich would. They were also perfectly fried. For my meal I got the garlic combo. The only qualm I have with my dinner is that the shrimp and scallops were a bit over cooked. The Mac and cheese and potatoes were fantastic. I had a bite of each of my friends dishes and those were really good as well! Overall my experience was great and we will be back. This spot reminds me of Full Moon Oyster Bar but closer to our house and with a way bigger menu.

AWSOME!!!! It's been a while since visiting Smitty's due to our schedules. Today was a prefect day to return for some outdoor dining. We started with a few cold beers and the Buffalo shrimp. Although portions have been reduced, it was delicious. Next came the firecracker shrimp, fish bites, Smitty's potatoes and Darlas Macaroni salad. Side note, we truly miss seeing Darla, she was a fixture of Smitty's for so long . Every dish was perfectly prepared and tasty. The service was by far, the best we have experienced recently compared to other restaurants. Thanks for a great evening out.

The setup of this place is unique as 90% of the seating is around two U shaped bars where the staff serves from the middle of them. While different it does create more of a friendly atmosphere between the staff and those sitting for dinner. This is one of the few local places which offers a large seafood menu and so far all of the options were solid choices. So many places undercook scallops and theirs were perfect. Usually have some specials which include non Seafood options for those who are not into it.

Service sux! Tuesday night 3rd time trying to eat here. Waited almost a hour for one cluster of crab legs. 15 minutes to order want be coming back.

Well I love Smitty's and if you haven't been here before I'm certain you would love it too. The whole atmosphere is great. The food is amazing and the service is top notch. You may have to wait a minute but it is worth it. Trust me!

Placed a to-go order and it was ready pretty fast, the staff is super accommodating and sweet. I got the Nashville fried oyster app and it was SO GOOD !!

The food and service are both great. They get super busy and handle the crowd well. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that they need a better way to address people calling in for "to-go" orders. I literally tried calling over and over and could not contact them to place an order. I didn't realize how many times I tried calling until I looked at my recent phone info...100 times! I'm guessing their phone was off the hook or out of order. Either way, maybe they should set up online ordering. We will definitely go to Smitty's again because the food is good, but it was pretty frustrating to get a busy signal constantly for 45 minutes! The restaurant itself is super casual, not fancy at all. The inside looks basically like a huge bar. They have outdoor seating and since we don't drink, we always opt to eat outside. During the winter they have a screened canopy and torch lights for heating, so outside eating works even in the winter.

Loved Smitty's!! Some friends recommended this restaurant and they told us to go early because it gets super busy. Glad we took their advice. Went on St. Patrick's Day, got there around 5:00 and it was already pretty full, and just getting more packed. The food was delicious and the service was the best we've had in a long time. Our server Peyton was so sweet, it seemed like many of the customers were regulars and she interacted with them like she had known them forever. One notable thing is that on a busy drinking holiday, the staff didn't rush anyone in there. That was so refreshing!! We got calamari to start, crab stuffed flounder, and the garlic platter. Food was great, can't wait to try even more next time!!

Smittys is literally the best restaurant in Kernersville! The food and drinks never disappoint! The staff is always friendly and good service even when super busy. It has a beach vibe and you become to feel as if everyone knows you kinda like "Cheers" . Be prepared to wait for a seat, but it's worth it! Bar seating, a few tables and small but nice patio seating.

Been twice now and couldn't believe it was better the second time... the first time was excellent. Our goal is to order a different item each time. Might take awhile but worth it. The seating is unique and cozy. Drinks are good, food is GREAT! Service has been great. Worth the wait if you have the time. We waited 20 minutes which is not to bad.

Smitty's is set up as two big semicircle bars with surrounding small tables and some patio seating. It can be a little noisy but to be honest, we arrived just at 6:30, as people were getting out to grab a drink and quick dinner. It was packed but the service was snappy. Our waiter was great and the best part was the seared tuna wrap he recommended. Oh my goodness, with a little slaw inside, and a choice of side dishes for $16, what a delicious bargain of a dinner! My mom had salmon in her version and it was even more reasonably priced. Our wine was inexpensive and we will be back for more!

Haven't been here in a while so we dropped in for an early dinner on a Thursday evening. It's generally packed on the weekends. The inside is mostly bar or counter seating. Think oyster bar here. There are a few tables in the back and we were luck to snag one. They have several craft beers on tap so we had a beer and looked over the menu. The oysters looked good coming out but we were in the mood for fried seafood. Fantail shrimp with scallops and fantail shrimp with oysters were ordered. Fries and coleslaw were the chosen sides. I opted for a garden salad with blue cheese. The shrimp, scallops, and oysters were delicious. All were fried perfectly. The salad was very fresh as well. Best fried oysters I've had in a long time. We'll be back soon. Best seafood in town.

I really enjoyed Smitty's Grille! I would consider this spot somewhat of a hidden gem in Kernersville. The interior is casual and laid back with a bar set up similar to Full Moon Oyster Bar. I was surprised at the quality of the seafood! I ordered the Tug Boat which is market priced and unfortunately, they were out of clams but they were able to substitute more oysters for only $1 more. The crab legs were meaty and juicy, shrimp and scallops were plump and cooked nicely. The appetizer hot fried oysters were FANTASTIC! I loved the bread they were served on with slaw and topped with a pickle and special sauce, I mean YUM! I could have eaten all of them. Although, at that point you don't even know you're eating an oyster. I ordered raw oysters which honestly were a little off for me. I'll definitely get them lightly steamed next time. Overall, great experience and would go back!

LOVE this place. We were looking for dinner option on Fourth of July weekend. Tried a few places but they were all closed. We stumbled into Smitty's and had a great dinner. The place is small but they have a decent size bar that they use for seating when they are busy. So it may not be first come first served. We all had seafood which was great? I had the crab cake dinner and my daughter and husband shared The Barge which they thoroughly enjoyed. It came with shrimp, oysters, crab legs and scallops. Plus 4 sides. Of all the sides our favorite was the Mac and cheese. They had a street corn option too that was very good. The green beans were not cooked enough for our taste. As an app we spit the. firecracker Shrimp. This was so good, I'd think about getting as my dinner next time.

Best seafood in Kernersville. It's small and always crowded, but it's really the only spot for crab legs, mussels, etc. in town, and one of the few in the area. My experiences have been good thus far. Also--try the Key Lime pie!

You have to be kidding! I went here with my wife for my birthday and the portion was way too small for the price. The shrimp was nothing special. No hushpuppies?? I went away hungry and very disappointed.

Smitty's is my absolute favorite place to eat oysters in the triad!! The staff is so friendly and the service is absolutely the best. I went recently and they are quick to sit you. Once you are seated they share drink specials and food specials which they always have!!! The staff is so knowledgeable and they will even remember you from previous visits. Smitty's is the best for a small town beach vibe. They offer a large menu and great drink selection. The oysters are always fresh and the company friendly!

We ventured out on St Patrick's Day for a green beer and had been told by many, always good! It did not disappoint! Great seafood, salads and I'm told that the corned beef special, tasted authentic and delicious. Great service, too. Definitely, a do over!

Tried this very cool restaurant for the first time tonight. The restaurant is different in that it has a few tables but the majority of the seating is at huge bar that winds in and out. The decor is nautical but not cheesy nautical. I had the crab stuffed flounder with rice and vegetables. It was delicious. My friend had the fish and chips which he enjoyed. We had the banana pudding ice cream sandwich for dessert. Yummy! Our server, Micaela, was enthusiastic, helpful, and fun. We could tell that this is a restaurant with regulars as we heard staff greet people by name. When people keep coming back, that says a lot! It was a drive for us but well worth it.

My husband's new favorite place. I had to meet a colleague so we met at Smittys. We sat outside and the fans kept us cool enough. Husband said the beer was ice cold and with a frosted glass, it was perfection. The service was excellent and the Oyster Po'boy was delicious. The oysters were lightly battered, plentiful and crunchy with a great flavor, the bread wasn't overwhelming. The sauce was light and a perfect match for bringing the whole sandwich together. The macaroni salad was cool and refeshing but a tad sweet for my taste. (I don't like sweet food.) Most people would love it. Pretty sure we will be frequenting Smittys often. Thank you to our servers, you ladies were on it.

This is just a cool spot. Mostly there is just a giant bar with high top seats - so don't go if you need a deep conversation with someone. Was also told by the locals you have to go early to even get a seat. The Key West theme made me happy! The food was good. Tried the crab dip, blacked fish bite appetizer, and stuffed flounder. All was enjoyable. Service was extremely friendly. Put it all together- good food + friendly service + key west bar atmosphere = a place I would go again and again

This is our go to seafood and oyster bar in the Triad. It's busy so get there early or you'll wait. Winding bar and a few tables for small groups but mostly for couples to four people. Their seafood is incredible as well as the rest of the menu and daily specials. The wait staff is great and attentive. Highly recommend this for casual dining and great shrimp or oysters. Enjoy!

We were told to get there before they open so we could get a seat and that was good advice. By the time they opened theirs doors, there were at least 20 of us ready to storm the gates. This place almost has a sports bar kind of feel with the layout, but it's more the TVs than the the actual sports bar crowd. We had a great meal and a great experience here. Give it a go.

My wife and I have had good food here in the past. Our last experience was terrible! My wife ordered Salmon Salad. As she ate it, she stopped and pulled out clear plastic wrap. Really turned us off on this place. We brought this to our servers attention which was just fluffed off. Will not be going back!!
