"That’s a wrap for fashion and entertainment icon Tyra Banks’ first official Smize & Dream scoop shop. Smize & Dream entered the D.C. market in July as a short-term pop-up near the Smithsonian Zoo, but there were potential plans to stay put longer if the location worked well. The ice cream store, which hides a sprinkle-covered 'Smize Surprise' truffle treat at the bottom of every cup and cone, got a surprise visit from TikTok star Keith Lee soon after opening. Eater reached out to the team about plans to potentially reopen elsewhere in D.C." - Tierney Plumb

"Smize & Dream, founded by Tyra Banks, is an ice cream store located in Woodley Park, D.C. It operates as a pop-up from July 19 to September 20. The store is known for its 'Smize Surprize', a truffle treat hidden at the bottom of every cup and cone. It offers 10 core flavors and weekly experimental flavors, including a D.C.-themed 'Cap Hill Crunch'. The venue includes counter-service seats and an outdoor patio, ideal for families and zoo visitors. Banks plans to involve local youth in an educational program about the ice cream industry after the pop-up ends." - Tierney Plumb

When I saw this on the news and found out that Tyra Banks created this ice cream place, I wanted to try it out since ice cream is one of my favorite desserts! I had a waffle cone with the flavors Cap Crunch and That Woodley Park Thang. Both flavors were good and not too sweet. There was a vegan option as well, not vegan but will also try on the next visit. This is convenient right across the street from the Woodley Park station on the red line. The staff was very knowledgeable regarding the products and the price was very reasonable. I told a staff member that I will visit again, maybe bring a friend or my mom to try.

Just what D.C., and more specifically - Woodley Park - needed!! Honestly delicious ice cream and fun new flavors and treats that rotate. Hoping we will see the pop-up return next summer!

Note: By entering you consent to being filmed and give your permission for it to be used for marketing. They have 1 vegan/dairy-free option the Chocolate cookie & cream. If you're closer to a Van Leeuwen you should go there, they have a lot more options and better $ value, if not consider this. The vegan ice cream itself has a great creamy texture, not icy at all and the chocolate flavor is good. I didn't really get much of the cream though. They also have a vegan brownie bite which I appreciate. 1 Scoop with tax/tip was ~$9.50, a little high given the scoop size.

Came the other day for the 1st time this past Wednesday. The weather was raining so it want much to no line. Was able to go in and out and order in no time. People came after ordered tho. Me and my daughter was able to get samples. So the server was engaging. I wanted to try order two things but they were sold out smh a bummer since haven't been open long . I ended up get 1 scoop & so did my daughter.. we both enjoyed our scoops. The surprise you get was a treat to top off . Good location and price point not badd. But i can only imagine how kaotic it will be if crowded cause its a very small spot. Wishing you much success on your ice cream journey Tyra. #blackowned business matters

"Let that Mango 🥭 is amazing! Very intense mango flavor. Woodley Park (lemon blueberry) great! Chocolate GooGoo is also top tier. I got all three. The 'scoop model'( my nickname for their employees) was so helpful and let me try everything!!! UPDATE: Pint Pick Up Party has the potential to be the hotspot. Go check it out on the Friday nights 6-9, if your waistline can stand it.

The staff in/outdoors were really kind. After visiting Model Land in LA I wanted to support Tyra and try this location out. The ice cream surprisingly was really tasty. I hate that I wasn’t there the day Kamala visited.

I waited three hours on the opening day and I’m glad I waited. Even though the wait was terribly long, but I understand why, the ice cream was really good. I really enjoyed the smize (purple brownie) in the cone and I tried the cap hill crunch. The flavors were better than I expected! don’t really care for toppings on or in my ice cream, but this was a pleasant surprise! I’ll be back again before they move locations. To the amazing staff who talked to us in line, encouraged us, gave recommendations, brought out water and were super kind THANK YOU!!! You all were the reason why I stayed in line!

After seeing a few really weird reviews online from people that have never even visited the place (how can you review a food business without even trying the food? That's a special sort of trick) I decided to make a special effort to come on down and try it for myself. Particularly since they advertised vegan options, and I am Lactose free. I found the staff to be very friendly, the place to be very clean and the location a really good addition to the Woodley neighborhood. They also offer a twist on a traditional ice cream serve (you select a tasty bakery treat that they put inside the serving) that I appreciated as fun and different from something like Coldstone where it's chopped and mixed. Like "brownie at the bottom" in concept, but with more options. I ended up ordering a vegan coconut cream lemon bar flavor and it was absolutely delicious. Thick, rich, creamy, refreshing, and shockingly not too tart or overly sweet. That tells me the ingredients are fresh, and not chemical, and they didn't cut corners on vegans. it was really a perfect dessert for a hot saturday afternoon!
