☆ Permanently Closed as of 12/11/24☆ A longtime local bar and live music venue closed its doors just a few weeks after announcing it would be under new ownership. Smoke & Barrel Tavern, the bar located at 324 W. Dickson St., is permanently closed after failing to secure a lease on the property as part of the sale of the business. -Fayetteville Flyer

Great little bar with a cozy atmosphere. We went to catch a show recently and the sound quality was very good - clean, well mixed, and loud but not ear shatteringly so. Hats off to the sound guy! The Lagunitas IPA was fresh, the bartender was attentive, an all around good time out.

Fantastic little spot! Really cool outdoor seating area. Great live music, great vibes, cool staff

Google
I've only been here to see live music and I have never been disappointed. They get some really great local music here. The crowd is definitely younger as it is right off Dickson Street, but it's always a good time. The sound guy is excellent and is always working to ensure sound quality is top notch... something I wasn't expecting in a suchna small place. Great little patio in back too.

Google
Wonderful Dickson Street hideaway for live shows. It doesn't pull in a college crowd. Not a dive bar but definitely tavern feel. Wonderful selection of beers and cocktails. When there is live music it's near impossible to find a more intimate venue. On the average day, great happy hour specials and wonderful staff. I recommend a live show to anyone wanting a night out. Patio and establishment is dog friendly too.

Google
Love this place, lots of cool music and events. Patio is nice if it's ever too crowded inside. All the cool ppl like s&b

Google
Love this quaint lil place! Great for a private show or meeting. A great lil music venue! Can tell the owners care about the customers 🖤 Highly recommended for a night out or a quiet drink alone.

Google
Great whiskey bar. Off the beaten path a bit so not too bad after a game day.

Yelp
Ok so I like good food and good beer, I'll admit it. This place had the beer down but the food could step up a a notch. Don't get me wrong food was good, just not exceptional. With a little inspiration I really think this place will go far! Staff was amazing and fun, owner was very presentable and conscientious so this is in no way a down review! Max potential here!!!!!

Yelp
Def a lit place. Bought drinks and chilled during pride and was just a great vibe. Def consider dropping here if you. Need a quick drink haha

Yelp
I was excited to come from Texas and find a bar off Dickson where you could actually get in and get a seat...on a game weekend. Well now I know why! The service is awful. Rudest bartender. Ignored us. Acted like we were asking so much of them to get us a beer. Then sat and chatted with friends the whole time while we needed our tab to escape this place. Music was so loud...no communication in this place. Come on guys. You have prime real estate. Hire some happier staff and make something great of this place!

Yelp
Worst service on the block, been there several times, a new bartender named Erick makes fun of me for asking for a free game of pool, (1 whole dollar) after spending over $50 dollars on drinks with my friends. We provided more than half of the customers but Erick didn't care. P.S. will discriminate for being under 45 whether you're in a frat or not (it's a big deal their). Will never be going back. Hope it was worth 100 cents.

Yelp
They kick you out 20 min before closing time and are very rude and that one bouncer is particularly unpleasant. We had just finished our drinks before being rudely told to leave, although there was plenty of time left. Good drinks and atmosphere but the service is pretty subpar to my expectations.

Yelp
An Indie bar with a small stage, pool table, lots of seating, and board games. Lots and lots of board games. A great week night bar, this place has high ceilings, timber framing, and an outdoor area that's screened in for those smokers out there. It's usually crowded on weekend nights, and you can pretty much count on a band playing then. They also tend to have a scrabble tournament every now and then. HAPPY HOUR, everyday 2-8: $2 Wells $1 Off Drafts $2 Domestic Bottles Monday: $2 Wells Tuesday: 1/2 price Wine Wednesday: 25% off ALL WHISKEYS Thursday: 1/2 off mixed, well shots Saturday: $4 Bloody Marys $3 Mimosas (only during happy hour) Sunday: FREE POOL $1 off drafts $4 Bloody Marys $3 Mimosas

Yelp
I have a different perspective on this place as I have performed/seen live music here a few times. It has always been an enjoyable experience and the staff has typically been very cool to bands. The built-in crowd here is usually enthusiastic and receptive. Smoke and Barrel has a great selection of spirits to help you take the edge off. At times it can get thick at the bar but there's always a jovial bartender waiting to serve you. If you find yourself in the area this is a fine destination in Fayetteville.

Yelp
Visited Fayetteville on Christmas Eve from dallas, couldn't find many bars open so we decided to come to this one. Was pleasantly surprised by our bartender Sasha, He was very personable and gave great service. We mentioned going to Apple Blossom Brewery (owned by the same owners) and he even checked to see if they were open for us. 10/10 will come back next time we're in town!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in the Dickson area. It was recently renovated and they also added a nice patio area. There is a quarter pool table for anyone who likes to shoot. There is free wifi and the new renovation is perfect anyone who wants to lounge while getting some studying/reading done during a slow night. They have great bands that come through every week and they are always exciting to watch. There is a great whiskey selection so be sure to check it out. They also offer a $1 beer for anyone on a budget.

Yelp
Most terrible bar ever no one should go there. 1.They had terrible service. They would take about 20 minutes just to get our drinks it was terrible beer and wine too. They had nothing to choose from. 2. They are very rude there. I only asked for another Whiskey and the waiter said "Ma'am isn't that to muck for tonight?" I was stunned I only had half a glass of wine and only asked for one glass of Whisky. 3. It was very expensive. With only having one glass of Whiskey, half a glass of red wine, one can of beer, and 1 glass of white wine. (I was with my Husband) turned out to be $349. Probably the worst bar in the world.

Yelp
We appreciated being able to relax with drinks in this inclusive bar. We enjoyed playing the board games. Would definitely go babk

Yelp
This is my favourite bar in Fayetteville! There are always wonderful beer specials and a stellar bar staff to make your drinks, jokes, and smiles. The interior is warm and woody, and everyone is welcoming. There is one pool table, and almost always a band playing. There are always board games, and sometimes scrabble or connect-four tournaments. Occasionally, Sunday nights are host to a movie screening or two. There's also a no-smoking-inside policy, which is wonderful if you're a non-smoker. The screened-in patio serves as the smoker's haven, here.

Yelp
While I can't say a bad thing about the band we came to see at this bar, I was extremely disappointed in the service and treatment of staff to customers. It was posted everywhere that doors open at 8:00 pm and they made us wait over an hour outside in the cold before allowing anyone to come in. Multiple people were confused and would open the entrance door only to find a rude staff member to yell at them as if they were suppose to know that they weren't allowed in yet. Once we got inside, the service at the bar wasn't much better but at least yelling wasn't in the equation. We would blatantly be ignored after standing there waiting to order drinks for 20 minutes. Just not the best experience and as I never post on yelp.. the rude staff needs a reality check especially the guy yelling at customers at the door.

Carson T.

Yelp
This was the worst bar experience I have ever had. My girlfriend and another friend were going for a night on the town but I wasn't even allowed to go inside. The bouncer looked at my girlfriend and my friends ID and let them inside but took mine and said "you need to find the cops because I just took your ID". I had to call the cops and and they had to tell the bouncer my ID was real for me to just get it back. All I got out of it was a sorry there was a fake ID used in front of you and I had to be safe.Be careful going to this place even if you have a real ID which is 21+.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite bar on Dickson. All the bartenders are awesome. They have the best drink prices! You can't beat two dollar wells, two dollar bud lights, and dollar rolling rocks. Also, their selection of whisky and bourbon is out of this world. They always have great live music coming through on the weekends. If you have a chance to check this bar out I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Cool vibe, interesting people and really cool staff. Music is hit and miss but always fun to check out. Sasha is one cool dude behind the stick.
google avatar

Jason N.

Yelp
Fantastic bar. The atmosphere is great (I recommend sitting on the patio about sundown) and the drink choices are top notch. I would've given 5 stars, except to run a tab, you have to leave your credit card with the bartender and I'm not too comfortable with that. Otherwise, awesome place to hang out and grab a drink with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the only good music venues left in Fayetteville. You can always get $2 bud light drafts and usually $2 rolling rocks. Great whiskey selection as well.

Yelp
This place sucks. Well maybe not if you are a guy. On recent business trip I stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine after reading reviews on this site. I sat at the bar and was never offered a refill after the first drink. I had to ask for it even though there was only 4 other people in the bar. When it came time to pay my tab I could not get the bartender to even notice me. I had my money on the bar, glass was empty and I was ready to go. He was too busy talking to the male customers. As this was happening I was reading the awards on the wall for "Friendliest Service". Really? Maybe if you were a guy. What an insult.

Yelp
I wasn't impressed with this place. As a retired Marine, I've been all over the world and All over this country and been in a lot of places like this. On the West Coast and East Coast they do it much better. This place Has a common Fayetteville establishment affliction: It's too pretentious Without having any reason to be. They act like they're some sort of awesome and authentic Scottish/Irish pub, but the only real beer they have is Guinness. No Smithwycks. Try a little harder guys.
google avatar

Muad D.

Yelp
Do not go here. The staff and even the owners are pretentious and rude. It's one of those places that give you a beer at last call then 2 minutes later stand over you while expecting you to slam it down. I have seen them get aggressive toward people that don't chug a full beer. If you want to enjoy your night out, don't go here.
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
Never go here unless you want a cocky (#highschoolproblems) bouncer to push you out and head butt you in the face at the end of a hedonistic night of debauchery . As I enjoyed my last sips of fancy whiskey right at last call( plenty of time before the 2am curfew) I was head butted by a bouncer with an attitude who demanded I finish my drink immediately. I was dragged outside and thrown against the ground and punched in the face several times before one of the other bartenders came out and broke the act up and apologized about the whole incident. Should I feel like I'm in a Harmony Korine film when I'm at a hip dive in Arkansas? Debatable. But for such hasty (repressed) violence to be committed upon a patron trying to enjoy their last drink in pseudo-opulence? I'm not so sure about this hot spot anymore.

Yelp
I've been to Smoke and Barrel a few times and have always had an enjoyable time. It is a little bit of a different scene than most of the other Dickson street establishments, which is nice. They have a smattering of nooks about the place where you can enjoy friends and conversation. I just went today during happy hour and they had some good specials (see below). Additionally, on Mondays, those specials last for the whole day through the evening. They have an extensive list of whiskeys, a few cigars, and an admirable selection of bottled beers available if you don't want to opt for mixed drinks or what is available on tap.

Yelp
This bar is really really fun!!! Great place...the best place in Fayetteville for live music...I LOVE IT!! Also the staff is wonderful! They have great beer specials!! I think their happy hour is from 2-8...everyday!! THEY HAVE BOARD GAMES, live music, great drinks, and a great atmosphere...you couldn't really ask for more!!!!

Elena D.

Yelp
I've been to this bar several times but will not be returning. The staff were rude and confrontational, in particular one bartender. There are so many better bars on the same street, don't bother with this one.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
neat place. Hipster and preppy crowd at times. Smoking patio on back is lacking, but at least they have one. Best place to take your date than try and find one. Not a biker hangout, so that often excludes me.
google avatar

Cassidy S.

Yelp
Stopped here later on a Sunday evening for drinks. We would've ordered food, too, but it was 8:45pm and they were no longer serving. They were playing a TV show pretty loudly inside, so we moved outdoors after ordering a round. Their bartenders aren't particularly friendly but their cocktails are well-priced because they're nice and strong! This place is great if you're looking for a divey spot to grab a pint or hang with friends.
google avatar

Frances W.

Yelp
THE #1 hangout spot for all things young and hip and badly behaved in Fayetteville. Sometimes the music gets a little out there, but if you can get in on a funk or bluegrass night, the tiny dance floor will be fantastically poppin'. Bartenders know their stuff, and apparently there are fun board games, though it's usually too loud and my attention span is too short for me to sit down for a round. If you're worried about making awesomely bad decisions, DON'T GO HERE. Seriously. The last time I was here, I tipped them 40 bucks just for putting up with all the making out I did in their back room. I should have tipped them 200. Jussayin.

Sheri Lynn T.

Yelp
Great bar with a great atmosphere. All bar staff are friendly and accommodating. As a woman, I feel safe here!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Not a fan of the hippy crowd. And I don't care to play board games at a bar.
google avatar

Sandy B.

Yelp
Awesome place. We had a great time, saw several friends, a super bartender, great cocktails. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be back!

Elena D.

Yelp
I tried to enjoy this bar but could not. In my experience the bartenders (one in particular, Seth) are unfriendly and inhospitable even to regular customers. Given that there are a dozen friendlier, more comfortable bars with equal drink selections on the same street, I would not recommend bothering with this one.
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Good selection of whiskeys, bourbons, etc. Nice staff and good music some nights.

Holly K.

Yelp
By far the best bar in Fayetteville. It has a great atmosphere, staff, and with the renovations they recently did it's an even better place to chill out with your friends. I haven't found another bar on Dickson where you're actually able to get to know the bartenders and bouncers. As a female I feel completely safe here and know if I had any problems the staff would take care of me. Basically, this is the only bar you need to know about on Dickson.

Rock A.

Yelp
Such excellent service and great beer. Had so much fun playing pool with my friends and listening to live music. Would definitely recommend...

Yelp
Well, as much as I didn't want to give any credit to the poor reviews for this establishment, I cannot agree more that this place is absolutely the worst place my family and I have ever been. Traveling with a son and daughter that are both 18 years of age and younger, we have become accustom to looking for businesses that are 21 years of age of older with signs or notifications that no one under the age of 21 are permitted. Approaching the main entrance, there was no indication that the establishment was 21 or over. After the drinks were ordered, we were told by the unbelievably rude and unwelcoming bartender that our children would not be permitted to stay. Whilst the immediate area was completely vacant with the exception of a couple and an individual waiting to talk with the bartender, there was not a mad rush to order beverages. Needless to say, it was as though she was put-off on asking for our beverage selections. Not only did the bartender provide attitude, but she was very quick to let me know that what we had ordered was not completely available. She did not provide an apology nor did she try to provide a solution. It was at that point I was completely frustrated once she told me that anyone under the age of 21 was allowed into the 'Bar'. Due to her level of customer service or lack there of, it was at that point I became very frustrated that we were not notified prior to ordering our beverages. 'A simple sign on the door would be a nice solution for management to implement' is what I told her but it certainly did not resonate with the bartender. By far, this has been the worst experience I have ever experienced and I hope that others will not have to encounter the same thing.

NO O.

Yelp
Smoke and Barrel is a "purveyor of fine whiskeys," and there are a lot of whiskeys (drop the "e" for all you Scotch die-hards) to choose from in any of the following categories: Irish, Scotch, American, bourbon, rye, corn, single malts, blended. The are a few draft beers, including some selections from Boulevard and even an Arkansas brewery called Diamond Bear. The bottles are standard fare, but I'm not saying that's a bad thing. On Mondays the drink specials (including $2 wells) last all day and this fact combined with the reasonable music volume, various corners and kinds of seating, and availability of board games made this a nice weeknight bar. The weekends feature Fayetteville's indie-ish bands. It's tastefully lit, which is more important than most people will admit.

Reis M.

Yelp
Great music and crazy selection of whiskey. Favorite place in NWA
