Smoke Session Bbq

Of the handful of times I have come here, the brisket is always dry, no smokiness, and no flavor. Brisket comparable to jerky. Maybe I am very unlucky but I have gave up trying their brisket. The pork ribs and pork belly are great, not much flavor going on either but very juicy and tender. Pairs nicely with their sticky rice. Prices are great, it is cheap bbq.

It’s hard to review the atmosphere of the location being it is a food truck and it’s out in the open. The pepper sauce which is .50 extra, for me wasn’t worth it. Granted it’s only .50 but for me it didn’t help the food nor did it “jump” out at me as if something I really needed. The sauce is on the spicier side. The sauce if I could describe it is similar to what you’d get at Hmong Village; Thai peppers chopped up with fish sauce a hint of lime mixed with water. I ordered my brisket and 1lb of beef “short” ribs as is. No sticky rice or anything. They both are well seasoned and little on the saltier side but it’s good. The meat fell off the bone and the brisket was good as well. I’d go again. The ribs I will say is worth it. Got a good amount of meat and the seasoning on it is really good when bite into.

Get there early or face the disappointing fact that they sold out for the day! They have one of the top briskets in the state! Some of the best egg rolls, when available. And some pretty amazing ribs, Mac and Cheese and loaded brisket fries are always delicious! Don't miss out on Smoke Session!

We visit MN from Colorado often and this is one of our first stops!!! The ribs are great, the pork belly and brisket are SO GOOD!!! Plus they’re located with other great food truck options too! And parking was easy!

The brisket wasn’t dry, very tender, most and flavorful. Same goes to the ribs, the ribs fell off the bone and was very tender as well. Definitely some of the best if not the best brisket and ribs in Saint Paul/Minneapolis.

Total gem. Smokes meat better than me. Try the smoked pork Belly. Yum yum yum I order ectra to take home Yes they have a line when none of the other trailers do. THERE'S A REASON! IT'S THE BEST ONE THERE

I love the food it is amazing and I keep craving it. I hope they never close or hope they get a restaurant I would go every week. I know they open from 11-sold out and first come first serve but I can only go after im off work and wished they stayed a little longer, but no pressure just love the food

Long wait but great food... if you haven't been here before, they are a food truck place, so that means no seatings, parking can be messy since there are really no lines to indicate parking spot. Would totally recommend getting their beef brisket and pork ribs... fall off bone goodness!!! Our first time here... won't be our last!

I've been wanting to try this place for months. I have no idea when it is open; my wife happened to see it on Bluesky or something so we took off for lunch. Glad we did. 5 stars just for the quality of the brisket. The thing that's amazing, if you cook brisket yourself, is the quality of the trim. A uniformly thin 1/8" layer of fat cap on every piece. No idea how they do it but it's exceptional, just at the right thickness to render properly. The brisket is top tier, maybe the second such brisket I've had in the area like it at a restaurant. Good strong smoke profile, rub is a little understated but good and uniform, everything properly rendered, plenty of gelatin and fat for moisture. Strange thing, the brisket was $25/lb which is more than reasonable for brisket of this quality, but the pork ribs and belly were the same price. I didn't try them so I can't say why the pork costs the same as the beef; I'm guessing there is a bigger demand for the pork from the SE Asian customer base. The hot sauce is not what I expected, quite vinegary and what I think were all red Thai peppers. To be honest I was expecting Kua Txob (Hmong pepper sauce) which would have been perfect with the meat. I'll just have to make it myself next time I find this place open. Mac & cheese was very good, nothing super praiseworthy but a good solid tasty home-style side dish. The fries were the least interesting thing we got, but still okay. Overall it's worth looking for and making the trek in the middle of the day, especially if you're a brisket snob/enthusiast.

This BBQ food truck is one of the cities best for BBQ! They usually sell out before I can make it out there so obviously I had to go there today on my day off work. Their menu changes here and there but they offer a variety of delicious goods such as brisket, smoked wings, pork belly, ribs, eggrolls, and loaded fries. They even have smoked turkey legs once in a while! The owner and his wife are very friendly and the service is good and fast. I might have just missed the lunch rush when I went shortly after noon but be ready to get in line on a nice day out! I strongly recommend you check out this place if you love BBQ meats and haven't checked it out yet. Did I mention their prices are also great!? Don't miss out on their Facebook specials when they have them!!!

Briscut had a great bark and good smoke ring. One of the best I've had in the Twin Cities. Pork belly and ribs were exceptional also. Did not have burnt ends today but, I'm sure they would be great too. Have been to over a dozen bbq places and this is the best so far. Definitely going back.

The brisket and ribs are some of the best I've had in the state. And for around $25 a pound it's a great deal. Hours are different from brick and mortar place so look them up on facebook.

Wonderful find! The brisket is legit. Perfectly smoked, fat rendered so that when you take a bite, it instantly melts and combines with the meat to give you a little taste of heaven. Velvety, moist, smoky, flavorful. I also had pork belly burnt ends. Again, these were perfectly rendered and with a beautiful flavorful bark. Absolutely delicious! The Hmong sausage is crazy good. Not sure what's in it, buts it's so good I crave it. This guy has mastered the art of bbq.

It was my first time here and I made a 35 minute drive to this food truck, as I heard many great reviews. And the reviews are right....the brisket, pork belly, and loaded fries were amazing. Brisket (My favorite) was super tender, easy to chew, great smokey flavor and melts away. The pork belly was soft and super tender. The loaded fries were great, such a great combo of briskets, along with mac/cheese and fries, it was amazing! The pork ribs were pretty good, but I think the Brisket stole the show! I haven't had any great Brisket like this in a while. I thought every dish came with a small side of hmong pepper, but I forgot to ask and check. If you're into spiciy foods, ask for a side of hmong pepper, which I think would've made this meal even better. Overall, the food truck was great and lives up to the hype! I will be back for more soon!

WOW! This bbq exceeded my expectations! Melt in your mouth brisket, and the pork belly was soo good! Highly highly recommend! They have sticky rice and pepper dipping sauce as well!

I have stopped by Smoke Session's food truck a couple of times now - I suspect that's a trend that is going to continue. The food truck can often be found camped out in a vacant lot on White Bear Ave during the week. The daily offerings vary a bit, but so far I can speak to the deliciousness that is their brisket, ribs and Hmong sausage. While not too heavy on the smoke everything has always been really well cooked, tender and tasty. Side dishes aren't anything special, but you can get rice, fries and coleslaw to go with any meal. For BBQ the prices are pretty reasonable, the staff has always been friendly and since they often appear to sell out during the day it appears others seem to agree.

I saw an ad on FB and I was sold as I was craving BBQ. Smoke Session is a food truck and there are other food trucks if you want other options. The BBQ is tender, it is not overly Smokey. Sadly they do not make their own BBQ sauce but it is still pretty good. Brisket is pretty good, a good balance of fat and meat. The pork belly is soft and not the crispy type. I did a pound, I wish I did a half pound. The rib tips are pretty good. They are tender and fall off the bone. This location sells out! If you really want BBQ here you will have to get here at the start and not wait at the end. They post on their facebook, so you would know if they are sell. I was in the mood for some BBQ and recalled seeing this food truck last time I was in the area. So I got in my car and made my way over to the food truck lot and was glad to see the Smoke Session food truck present. From what I read online they make great brisket and serve up a nice sized beef rib. I ordered a half pound of Brisket and 1 order of Beef Rib. I took my order home with me to share with my parents. The Beef Brisket is so melt in your mouth amazing that I wished I bought a whole pound. My parents also agreed, they loved the brisket as much as I did and were asking where I bought it. Besides being melt in your mouth fantastic there is a lot of good smoky beef flavor. Also I loved how when I opened the box the light glistened off the brisket revealing how moist and juicy it was. The Beef Short Ribs were huge and delicious. They were the definition of fall off the bone good! I could take my plastic fork to the beef rib and the meat would almost flake like well cooked fish. Same as the brisket there was amazing beefy flavor with that well developed essence of smoke. You could taste the care and attention they place on their BBQ and it really shows. The BBQ they make is top notch and I would come back and order more from them especially when I need a brisket fix!

This place is great. I just came from Texas where I was spoiled with amazing BBQ all over the place. Coming here, I didn't expect anything amazing but wanted to ease my BBQ withdraws from leaving Texas. My favorite place to get brisket is still in Texas but this place became a close second favorite. It is cooked perfectly and has a great ratio of fat and meat, and the only suggestion I would give is to try different smoke chips to smoke with to find a more unique flavor. The ribs were also really good. They didn't fall off the bone but the flavor was great. I also tried their brisket sandwich which was also really good. They put on a good amount of sauce and of course the brisket is tender and flavorful. The truck isn't always around but when it is, I usually make it a point to stop and get some good eats. Would definitely recommend.

I think they have the best brisket and ribs and rib tips always tasty and consistent! Great customer service and get there peppers to go with your food you won't be disappointed there new location is so convient also ! Only thing that would top it off and make it complete is if you guys would add collard greens to the menu

I love this bbq I was craving bbq! So I stopped by got lucky grabbed 2 racks of ribs, a small potato salad, a small Mac & cheese. I got my fix check them out before it's gone!

I'm very picky when it comes to barbecue, having spent time in Texas & Memphis. I can honestly say this is as good as any brisket I've had there. Brisket is so easy to have it be dry or overseasoned. Smoke Session's brisket is gloriously fatty and perfectly seasoned. Y'all are saving me a trip back to Texas! Ribs were also quite nice.

New BBQ trailer in town! East side of St. Paul! Tender beef brisket, fatty beef short ribs, and fall off the bone pork ribs! And yes! The fries are awesome!

Stopped by this truck for the first time today. Surprised me. That might have been the best brisket I've had in the Twin Cities. Ordered a pound, got what I'm sure was closer to a pound and a half. Served with 4 pieces of home baked bread at no extra charge. So, also I consider that very good deal for under $20. Only criticism was that there was only one very good, but middle-of-the road, bbq sauce available. I will be back.

Working in the area so I stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I enjoyed a 1/2 pound of brisket and some delicious fries. Food was good and fresh carved as I waited. Sauce went very well with the meat. I would recommend.

Best brisket I have had in the Twin Cities. The sauce on the side was the bomb. Looking for good bar b que in the St Paul area go here.

Beef ribs are by far the best item on the menu. Pork belly is pork belly, fatty and juicy.
