Yelp
Smoked Out BBQ is a great hole in the wall that's only open on weekdays for lunch. They are a very popular lunch spot and usually sell out every day. Big portions, juicy meat, and great sauces. What else do you want in your BBQ?
This is one of my rotation restaurants whenever I'm working around the area and I highly recommend everyone to try this at least once if you are in the area. I recommend going between 11AM - noon if you can because you'll beat the rush and you won't be at any risk of them selling out of their food.
FOOD
My go to is the Combination #1 with Tri-tip, pulled pork, and tater tots. The tri-tip is sauced up generously and comes out really juicy; the pulled pork melts in your mouth. Tater tots are crispy and not soggy. Portions are huge and I've always hear customers tell the cashier that there is a lot of food.
I've also tried their sandwiches before, both the tri-tip and brisket. They will ask if you want the cole slaw instead or outside of the sandwich. The bread sometimes is a bit hard, but the portions is still huge because they give you a bunch of tater tots as well. I will opt for the sandwiches if I want to eat a little less than a Combo 1.
I've also tried the hot link and brisket before. I prefer the tri-tip over the brisket because the tri-tip is juicier, but these other two meats are wonderful as well; it just comes down to your preference.
For the sides, I've also tried their mac and cheese and their cole slaw. Both are decent, but I just prefer tots, which is why I always get them.
Help yourself to their three sauces. I can't really handle spicy well, so I can't do the Ghost Honey sauce, which is their hottest sauce. Their Original Pineapple and Thai Mango sauces are both excellent and I get both of them and alternate my bites between the two.
SERVICE
If you'd like to order here, you order up at the cashier. The menu is on the glass both at the cashier and at the front of the restaurant. Place your order and the cashier will call your order out to the back (I love this, you know if they call your order to the back that the food is gonna be legit). When they give you your total, mention whether or not you want to pay with cash. If you pay with cash, you will get a 5% discount. Make sure you take your receipt since it has your order number. Once your order is ready, they will call out your number. The cashier will ask if you want a side of pickles or extra sauces. If you are eating there, they have sauces on the side for you to fill up.
If you plan to arrive between noon and 1PM, I recommend ordering online to skip the line. This place gets busy during the lunch rush and you may end up waiting for a long time. The online orders will get filled as they come in and there have been times where they have made those standing in line wait as they fill online orders. The service during the lunch rush is the only gripe I have with this place and I always try to never arrive during the lunch rush.
Overall, their service is pretty good when they aren't busy and the guy that runs the cashier is always friendly.
COST
A combo #1 or a sandwich will run you about $20. The great part about his place is that they do offer a 5% cash discount so this is a great benefit for those who like to walk around with fat stacks. For the quantity and quality of the food, the price is very well justified. Note that if you get brisket and tri-tip together in a combination, it's an extra $3.
SETTING
The restaurant itself is quite small with about 5 tables in total. If you come here between noon and 1PM, you might not be able to get a table. There is lots of parking, but this is located in a business park, so the actual amount of parking available might vary. The interior is very much like a hole in the wall and very reminiscent of a bar. This place is perfect for a casual lunch with coworkers in the middle of the work day; definitely not a spot to take a date unless you both wanna pig out.
Location-wise, it might be a tricky to find where this place is; Google maps might route you around a building, so just look for a sign pointing to Holyland, the restaurant next door, before you turn into the parking lot.
Note that if you eat there, your clothes will end up smelling like BBQ. I take that as a good thing because you know the BBQ is flavorful.
Overall, very solid BBQ place with huge portions and tasty BBQ. Be careful of arriving during the lunch rush because the service can slow down significantly and you can be at risk of them running out of food. Make sure you try out all of their sauces!
