"This Santa Clara barbecue spot is known for smoking some of the best beef brisket and tri-tip in the South Bay, as well as for over-the-top sides like oxtail poutine tater tots. Using oak and hickory woods, the kitchen also pushes out slow-cooked hot links, pork ribs, and chicken, which can be enjoyed with sides like creamy mac n’ cheese or sweet white beans." - Eater Staff

The food here far exceeded my expectations. Since it’s not located in a typical busy plaza, I initially underestimated this place—but it definitely rivals well-known BBQ chains. The grilled meat is exceptionally tender and juicy, with rich marbling that stays beautifully within the meat. The outside has a perfect crisp while the inside remains soft and flavorful. The interior of the restaurant is modest and not very spacious, but it’s always bustling with customers. If you come late, you might have trouble finding a seat. There’s also a steady stream of takeout and delivery orders, which speaks to the restaurant’s popularity.

Ribs, hot links, and pulled pork were crazy good. Get there early, I arrived around 1:30pm on Friday and they were sold out of brisket and tips. Will definitely be back to try them out.

Hidden gem has a small space for dine in and a lot of take out demand. BBQ is superb with a choice of sauces on the side. Brisket is soft and moist, Pulled pork full of flavors. White beans are a good side dish in combo plate ($22), and they give you large servings 😋

Google
First time we went they ran out of brisket so got chicken and sides instead. Chicken - 5/5 tender, not dry at all and good flavor Mac and cheese - 4/5 not a lot of flavor but still good Chili - 3/5 flavor is good just too oily Second time we went, we got brisket… Brisket - 0/5 so hard, too salty just like beef jerky, hardly any fat in it We figured it was maybe a bad batch so we went today to try it again and same thing. Really wanted to like it, but just couldn’t. Service is nice and the place is well maintained. Bathroom is clean too.

Google
Honestly one of the best BBQ spots I've been to in the bay area. Really out of the way and basically no seating with short hours. But it's still a fantastic spot. Chili is great, hot links too, the tri tip and brisket are solid as well. All at quite a fair price point, would recommend.

Google
Amazing BBQ joint. The service is very quick and the portions are massive. Their selection of BBQ sauces is insane. Be careful some are very spicy. I loved the hot links and BBQ chicken. They close early though so it’s tough to make it out there sometimes.

Came to dine in for lunch on a Saturday and they were very fast, best Mac n cheese I've had in a long time! $30 for everything pictured which fed 2 people. Will definitely be coming back but would probably just do takeout

Google
I had the two-meat meal with brisket and ribs—both tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The hot sauce added a great kick. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Short Story: Holy cow! I wish I lived here :) Long Story: I've been coming here too many times the past two years and have gotten everyting on their menu. From the regular items such as pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken, hot links, tater tots, to all their sandwiches (with the meats I just listed), to special items such as pastrami and meatzilla beef ribs! The prices are good and the service is fantastic! The place is a bit small so I usually order ahead. Items also run out early so be sure to call or order ahead! Verdict: I'm picking up an order right now!

Yelp
I've seen the logo before on some advertisement or maybe their truck. So I was surprised when my buddy and I met up for lunch and I saw it was a place on my radar. Industrial warehouses all around. So you could easily miss this spot unless you heard about it, by word of mouth. Small, busy, and packed. Unfortunately, one person running the front, so cashier and taking your order, fulfilling orders, packing up orders, etc. Be patient, it's worth it. Though, they needed 2 people in the front to help the customers. It was lunch time. Combination Plate: All meal combinations come with 5oz of protein per selection, along with a 5oz side(s) of your choice and a sweet roll. Combo 2: Cannot double up on tri tip or brisket. Comes with choice of 2 proteins (pork ribs, smoked brisket) and 2 sides (chili, sweet beans). *Pork ribs (4/5) - meaty, nice bark, sweetened, tender but not fall-off- -the-bone tender. One of the better tasting ribs. *Smoked Brisket: smoked forn18+hrs with oak/hickory wood (4/5). Lean brisket, so partly a bit drier but some fattier parts included so that was juicier. *Chili: Ground beef, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, with their own spice blend (no beans). It was good. Though, not much heat. But tasty. *Sweet Beans: white beans with their sweetened house original pineapple BBQ sauce (4/5). Some might think it's too sweet. But it was a nice flavor and fork tender beans. Thanks RK for lunch and introducing me to this place. I'll be back! Support your local business.

Yelp
Great BBQ for the area! We ordered Smoked Out BBQ on DoorDash. They're located in a business / residential park area, and had a pretty great selection for BBQ options. We ordered two things to share amongst 2 people: + Pulled Pork Chili Cheese Tots (4/5) ($15): So good! I normally don't like chili that much... but this and the pulled pork together made the tots taste sooo good. The tots were crisp, the chili cheese was packed with flavor. The portion was more than enough, but definitely, after a while the flavor became easy to get tired of. I really hoped to try their oxtail tots, but it wasn't available unfortunately :( + Combo 4 (4/5) ($29): Our three meats: tri-tip, pork ribs, hot link. Two sides: potato salad, mac and cheese. The pork ribs and hot link were both really god! The tri-tip also was pretty delicious, the meat was tender. I wasn't the biggest fan of the potato salad, but I enjoyed how rich the mac and cheese was. They have tables inside if you're looking to dine in!

Yelp
This is some amazing BBQ, probably one of the best in the bay area. It's located in an unassuming location in a residential park in Santa Clara, and they open only for lunch on weekdays. We came here on a Tuesday around 1130am and placed our orders. I got the combo 3 which comes with 3 protein and 1 side for about $25, total around $30 including tax/tip. It may seem quite steep but it does come with generous portion. I opted for the brisket, pork ribs, and chicken. They have tons of BBQ sauces to try, I recommend their spicy BBQ and their hot sauce, its super spicy! LOVED IT. They also have complimentary homemade pickle slices. The brisket was so tender and delicious! The same goes for the chicken. The meat dipped in their sauces equate to a heavenly experience! My side of chili was super meaty, its all meat, so FYI. The order came with Hawaiian bread. Next time I'd go for the mac n cheese or coleslaw. I got back to work and noticed they forgot my pork ribs! I called the next day, left a message for the worker, and got a call back within 2 hours saying they'll refund my entire order for the mistake. I was so shocked! I would've been happy with partial refund or come back and grab my ribs, but this was great customer service. My coworker ordered a chicken sandwich but think he got pork. The ordering system is interesting, they speak on the mic the order and I guess it goes to the kitchen staff. Not sure if there's a print out of the orders for the staff in the back to refer to, but a couple of our orders got messed up. I would suggest a better ordering system if my interpretation is correct. Will totally be back given their bomb BBQ and awesome customer service. Certainly a hidden gem in the area!

Yelp
I was a little taken aback when my work colleague was like "hey, we need to go to this spot for lunch" at 10 am on a weekday. Naturally, my response was like "meh, not really hungry right now" but he was like "trust me" and I'm so glad we did. Apparently this spot sells out of bbq before 12 pm and I can certainly see why. I have tried MANY bbq spots and of my 32 years of existing, this spot has the BEST BBQ IVE EVER TASTED. I also highly recommend the chili.

Steven S.

Yelp
Great bbq spot! The brisket and chicken was good. I thought the pulled pork was average. Loved the homemade sides and pickles they gave me. I will return and try other items.

YT C.

Yelp
Love these guys. Not the best customer service since nobody answers the phone. U order on their website. Lately I don't see the brisket available to get (Jan 15, 2025). Maybe someone's on vacay ? I'll have to settle with going somewhere else for now - but hope they get back on track. I will update when the brisket is back...

Dalan C.

Yelp
Had really high hopes for this place. Was sorely disappointed with the brisket. When I got the tray I could immediately tell it was going to be dry, and it was! I didn't even finish it 4/10. The hot link was fine, but it was nothing special 6/10. Ribs were decent, good flavor and tender, not fall off the bone, but good bite and not dry 7/10. Dirty rice side was pretty good, but a little dry 7/10. Mac and cheese was ok nothing memorable 6.5/10. The thing that saved the meal was the oxtail poutine tater tots 8.5/10. So, I would not come back for the bbq, but I would come back for those tater tots.

Brian T.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Santa Clara. Great hole in the wall place for BBQ. It is surrounded by warehouses and just driving by you won't even know there's a BBQ place there. Brought 6 of my co-workers with me and they all loved it. It is a small area, so beware that you might not be able to dine in. The person who took my order was great! Recommended us on some great meats and encouraged us to try all of their in house made BBQ sauce. The meat came right off the bone and it was smoked just perfectly. I would definitely recommend the Tritip! My co-workers are already planning to come back next shift!

Joe Z.

Yelp
Since finding this place, I believe we have picked up lunch for myself and my co-workers at least 4 or 5 times in the last month and a half. This place is fire. When I find a BBQ spot, I usually love the meat, but the sides are average at best. The cole slaw and potato salad are my go to sides when I order from here. Tritip is my meat of choice. The BBQ sauces are amazing. Def recommend placing your order for pick up right at 11:30, because they can get busy really quick and that 11:30 time slot can easily be pushed back to 12:30.

Yelp
I've been looking for a barbecue spot in the Bay Area for a while now and decided to try Smoke Out BBQ after seeing the many good reviews. It's located in an industrial area and there's plenty of parking. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was relatively empty. We ordered Combo 6 and got Double Brisket (sadly they were out of Tri-tip) with Mac and Cheese and Dirty Rice for sides. Friendly service and the food came out relatively quickly! The brisket was pretty good, as it was juicy, but I definitely wish it was more smokey. The dirty rice was okay as it was a little dry, but the mac and cheese was decent. We also got the Pulled Pork Chili Cheese Tater Tots which was a great price for the quantity, and it came with lots of pulled pork! I wanted to try the Oxtail Poutine Tater Tots, however they were sold out for the day :( They also have their own barbecue sauces (Original, Thai Mango (mild), and Ghost Honey (spicy)), which were all great! For the Bay Area, I think this place was pretty good, but according to my boyfriend, it is incomparable to Texas BBQ. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and will probably be back!

Sheena R.

Yelp
The first couple of ties the food was just okay... food was cold and they forget to include the bbq sauce. The turnaround time was good, given it was lunchtime. I do want to point out, the one and last time I was there in person, while waiting for my order I noticed one of the workers came from the back of the restaurant, assuming it was the area where they prep and prepare food, walked into their office, sat down and proceeded to pick is nose. This incident was enough for me to rethink my next lunch meal.

Gabriel K.

Yelp
the best bbq food ive had in the bay area . i had the pulled pork sandwich with some crispy tator tots. the other plates look really good too , next is tri tip and then the chicken

Vickie C.

Yelp
Great BBQ in an industrial area. They were out of tri tip and brisket when we went... need to get there earlier for that. They are open 11am- 2:30pm so we had pulled pork, chicken and ribs. All great flavor and would go back for sure.

Miguel V.

Yelp
I highly recommend this bbq restaurant. The bbq was really good . This place has been on my list of places to eat at for a while. But I haven't had the chance to check them out . Since I had a day off today I made it a point to have my late lunch there . I wish I would have stopped in earlier because they ran out of brisket. But the ribs and tri-tip made up for that . Especially the Mack and cheese It was really cheesy and good with the food .

Paxton R.

Yelp
Ribs were fantastically delicious, falling off the bone. I got the ribs and brisket combo, should've just got double ribs. The Brisket was the most dry I've ever had, even the bbq sauce couldn't save it. I was pretty disappointed in the brisket, so much even thought the ribs deserve 5 stars I can't honestly give more than 3. Small store, friendly service, just pretty disappointed from the brisket, especially considering how much I paid.

Rob B.

Yelp
Showed up late and they were out of ribs, brisket and tri tip. We ended up getting the pulled pork tots and a Halle berry. I am not a pulled pork fan and I would not have ordered either one. I would have missed out on an amazing meal. The best pulled pork ever!!!!!!

Andrew M.

Yelp
Great BBQ joint! Came here for lunch and definitely was popular for such a small place! Do expect to wait since it's all being prepped, like cut and ready for you when you order! $3 up charge for premium meats but definitely worth it!

Monica C.

Yelp
My husband and I were craving bbq but a lot of our usual spots were closed on Mondays so we decided to check out Smoked Out BBQ in Santa Clara. We ended up coming here on a Tuesday around 1pm and to our surprise, they literally almost sold out of the brisket. We were lucky to get the last few orders of bbq. The worker recommended the mac and cheese & chili- his two favorite sides along with the garlic cornbread. Yummy sides indeed coming from someone like me who did not eat much mac and cheese or chili. The garlic cornbreads were tasty and not dry like most places. The briskets were good although some pieces tend to be more dry probably because it was the end pieces. Good thing their Thai mango sauce was good on top of the brisket so it made it less dry. The tri-tip was tasty but they gave very small amounts. Prices were average for BBQ. The inside of the restaurant seemed a bit run-down compared to other bbq places but the workers were hella chill and nice. They did not serve beef ribs on regular days. Just happens to be on random Saturdays and the worker decided they would be having beef ribs this Saturday! Overall, good food and great service! Highly recommend Smoked Out BBQ!

Dian M.

Yelp
Brisket is Sooooo moist and tender!! Just... Wow. Low key decor but this place is all about the food for sure. Try all the hot sauces - I like the hot and medium sauces mixed together... Giving the sweet, 'medium' hot sauce, an extra kick. Steady lunch crowd flowing in. Most of the indoor tables were full at 12:45 PM on Wednesday plenty of outdoor seating in the covered canopy area. Ordered at the counter and waited about 10 minutes for my food. Kaching - Cash discount saved me $1.70. My combo number 6 with extra chicken came to $35.33 - totally worth it for this quality of barbecue! I'll definitely be coming back to try the ribs and pulled pork.

Heidi G.

Yelp
We were lucky to come across this place as we were in San Jose for the day and flying back out. The food was amazing, really excellent bbq. Service was as expected for a small space with a line out the door - but courteous and with a smile. The oxtail tots were delicious, their pickles are ones I think of often. Can't wait to go back.

Mike H.

Yelp
Smoked Out is a classic BBQ outfit. Zero ambiance but really good brisket and baby back ribs, the two items I tried. Juicy. Meaty. Lots of smoke. And very fair prices. It's located in the back area of a crowded Santa Clara light commercial area. It's the real deal.

Arlene P.

Yelp
5 star Service, Excellent BBQ Brisket Oxtail poutine Combo Tri-tip & Rib Amazing BBQ sauces, Pineapple, Thai Mango and Honey Ghost

Steve S.

Yelp
I thought, what's the hype about? After arriving before they closed, I knew. The smell of the smoke while not seeing, the small cramped earing area that's full of people waiting, and then there was this family off to the side speaking in getman while eating. All this convinced me how great this place is even before my lips touched the tritip, brisket, ribs, pulled pork tots. And so on. Why didn't I come here when I was told of it the first time!!!!! You have to visit when they are open. You will Not be disappointed..I can already taste the next visit

Kingston T.

Yelp
Yo, best barbecue of all South Bay! I've been waiting for this day to come and I ordered lunch for my team. We enjoyed and we're delighted to have bbq from here. I saved some extras for my fiancée to try and she absolutely loved it. Ordered the brisket, smoked chicken, hot links, corn bread, salad and tater tots. I will be dreaming of here when I have the itch for smoky tender juicy goodness. I think above all, the smoked chicken surprised me the most because It was the best that I had and I am so jealous that I can't make it at home. Keep it up! Portion and price is on point. My only meh, is that the bbq sauce is more on the sweet side.

Andy L.

Yelp
None of the meat was very juicy even though it was early in the day when I went in. I had asked for extra fatty brisket and it was a bit stringy and not very fatty. The chicken was solid with good flavor, but was also not juicy. The pulled pork tater tots were solid. The Bay Area barbecue scene just isn't there.

Phillip T.

Yelp
Smoked Out BBQ is a great hole in the wall that's only open on weekdays for lunch. They are a very popular lunch spot and usually sell out every day. Big portions, juicy meat, and great sauces. What else do you want in your BBQ? This is one of my rotation restaurants whenever I'm working around the area and I highly recommend everyone to try this at least once if you are in the area. I recommend going between 11AM - noon if you can because you'll beat the rush and you won't be at any risk of them selling out of their food. FOOD My go to is the Combination #1 with Tri-tip, pulled pork, and tater tots. The tri-tip is sauced up generously and comes out really juicy; the pulled pork melts in your mouth. Tater tots are crispy and not soggy. Portions are huge and I've always hear customers tell the cashier that there is a lot of food. I've also tried their sandwiches before, both the tri-tip and brisket. They will ask if you want the cole slaw instead or outside of the sandwich. The bread sometimes is a bit hard, but the portions is still huge because they give you a bunch of tater tots as well. I will opt for the sandwiches if I want to eat a little less than a Combo 1. I've also tried the hot link and brisket before. I prefer the tri-tip over the brisket because the tri-tip is juicier, but these other two meats are wonderful as well; it just comes down to your preference. For the sides, I've also tried their mac and cheese and their cole slaw. Both are decent, but I just prefer tots, which is why I always get them. Help yourself to their three sauces. I can't really handle spicy well, so I can't do the Ghost Honey sauce, which is their hottest sauce. Their Original Pineapple and Thai Mango sauces are both excellent and I get both of them and alternate my bites between the two. SERVICE If you'd like to order here, you order up at the cashier. The menu is on the glass both at the cashier and at the front of the restaurant. Place your order and the cashier will call your order out to the back (I love this, you know if they call your order to the back that the food is gonna be legit). When they give you your total, mention whether or not you want to pay with cash. If you pay with cash, you will get a 5% discount. Make sure you take your receipt since it has your order number. Once your order is ready, they will call out your number. The cashier will ask if you want a side of pickles or extra sauces. If you are eating there, they have sauces on the side for you to fill up. If you plan to arrive between noon and 1PM, I recommend ordering online to skip the line. This place gets busy during the lunch rush and you may end up waiting for a long time. The online orders will get filled as they come in and there have been times where they have made those standing in line wait as they fill online orders. The service during the lunch rush is the only gripe I have with this place and I always try to never arrive during the lunch rush. Overall, their service is pretty good when they aren't busy and the guy that runs the cashier is always friendly. COST A combo #1 or a sandwich will run you about $20. The great part about his place is that they do offer a 5% cash discount so this is a great benefit for those who like to walk around with fat stacks. For the quantity and quality of the food, the price is very well justified. Note that if you get brisket and tri-tip together in a combination, it's an extra $3. SETTING The restaurant itself is quite small with about 5 tables in total. If you come here between noon and 1PM, you might not be able to get a table. There is lots of parking, but this is located in a business park, so the actual amount of parking available might vary. The interior is very much like a hole in the wall and very reminiscent of a bar. This place is perfect for a casual lunch with coworkers in the middle of the work day; definitely not a spot to take a date unless you both wanna pig out. Location-wise, it might be a tricky to find where this place is; Google maps might route you around a building, so just look for a sign pointing to Holyland, the restaurant next door, before you turn into the parking lot. Note that if you eat there, your clothes will end up smelling like BBQ. I take that as a good thing because you know the BBQ is flavorful. Overall, very solid BBQ place with huge portions and tasty BBQ. Be careful of arriving during the lunch rush because the service can slow down significantly and you can be at risk of them running out of food. Make sure you try out all of their sauces! 4.5/5

Yelp
Cool little spot in a random commercial/industrial park in Santa Clara. A friend of mine knows the owner so he's been asking me to test this out and try their brisket/bbq/sides. So I ordered a Combo 2, (two meats and two sides). I ordered the brisket, hot link, sweet beans and some chilli. I'll start with my favorite, which was actually the hot link, tons of flavor and it wasn't super overcooked. The brisket was really good too, it was super tender... but a reminder to eat it quick, once it gets room temperature warm it's not good to eat. I wasn't into the sweet beans, I'd thought they'd be more like traditional bbqed baked beans and then the chilli, I wasn't too much of a fan of, it was more like paste. I think the next time I go, I think I'm going to try the dirty rice as well as the smoked chicken. They have other sides as well, like mac n cheese, tator tots. They have a large list of items! Def gotta try the beef ribs one day!

Mickey Z.

Yelp
Friday, between noon and 1:00pm, we noticed most people were picking up their to-go orders. Our 3 meat combo had very generous portions (brisket, tri-tip and ribs). Coleslaw and chili sides were also good size. The tri-tip was very moist and very tender. It is lightly coated with a thin sauce. Next time I would ask for the sauce on the side. The brisket was very very good - tender moist with a very flavorful bark. The ribs were okay but definitely not fall-off-the-bone. They offered some free pickles too. As we were eating our lunch, we heard that they ran out of brisket. If we want brisket again, we'd be wise to place our order early and online. This was our first visit and we will definitely return.

Ronald T.

Yelp
This my 2nd time here. Anytime I'm in the area I'm popping up. The food was on point both times. They stay so busy that they forgot my potato salad. I was the guy that wanted the oxtail totes but yall was sold out lol. But the food was so good I couldn't even be mad they forgot something. I'm sure they'll make it right. Looking forward to the next visit!!

Tim H.

Yelp
One of the best bbq spots in the bay. Finally got to try this place (days and hours are very limited). I scheduled an online pickup order the day before. I got the 3 proteins and 2 sides combo meal for $26 (+$3 for tri tip). For about $32 after tax, this could basically feed 1 male and 1 female or 1 very hungry big boy. Big portions. All the meats were good, tender and flavorful, not burnt. The sides were mediocre though, but that's ok (often its the other way around) Brisket: very good. I believe they were fatty brisket. Tender and flavorful Tri tip: good. Felt like thin sliced beef in sauce Pork ribs: very good. 2 large ribs. Meaty. Great flavor. Perfectly cooked ribs should not fall off the bone on its own but should come off easily, and that was exactly how it was Mac and cheese: ok. Not much flavor and not very cheesy. Cheese felt watery. Almost tasted like a warm macaroni salad. Skip Coleslaw: decent. A bit saucier than I prefer. It's got a strong mustard? taste and a yellowish color Bread roll: ok. Basic They have 3 sauces (mild, medium, hot). I asked for the medium and hot and the 2 tasted very similar. Neither were spicy. The meats had such good flavor on its own, sauce really isn't necessary. I was in and out in less than a minute. There was a short line. Very small place. Only 1 large table inside and 2-3 small ones outside (1-2 might belong to next door's business). Located in an industrial area, easy to miss. No signs on the main road or entrance. It's towards the back of U shaped parking lot. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
Best bbq in South Bay. Great menu. Great service. These guys know how to make delicious bbq.

Marc M.

Yelp
Great bbq! Had the pork ribs and brisket, can't wait to try the beef rib here someday!

Sotha P.

Yelp
I was craving bbq for the last two weeks and finally got my fix today. This place is the ultimate meal for a man. Walked in today around 1 and saw nothing but blue collar guys eating lunch in there . I got the combination plate with 3 proteins and 2 sides. The meats I got was brisket, tri-tip, and pork ribs. The sides was potato salad and mac n cheese. Everything was really good to me except the tri-tip. To me , I prefer my tri-tip to be cooked medium only. I will definitely be back here soon and try their other meats and sides. Great job guys!!

Alan C.

Yelp
Had to eat hotlinks, everything else they have is covered in a rub that contains sugar. I am sure it tastes great, but good barbecue can be sugar free.

Sandee L.

Yelp
The debate at a recent family dinner was who had the best BBQ in the Bay. I heard "Smoked Out" belted above the other chatter a couple times, so while I was in the South Bay on a weekday afternoon, we hit it up! We got the 3 protein combo with 2 sides and upgraded to have both tri tip and brisket as two of three of the sides. - Brisket: I'm not sure that overcooking brisket is a possible, but that's what this brisket appeared to be. It would "crumble" on the slightest impact with a utensil and was dry? Needed a good dunking in sauce. 3/5 - Tri tip: Sliced thin (like bulgogi) and seemed to have its own sauce already. Tender and flavorful. This was our favorite of the three. 4/5 - Pork ribs: My bf tried this fresh while we were at the restaurant and said "oh, wow". He said it was meaty and tender. I tried my rib a day later and it was a bit tough and dry. So maybe don't save any of the ribs for later. 3/5 - Potato salad: Fantastic! We polished off the generous portion and could have kept eating it. 5/5 - Mac and cheese: Soft and creamy with a dusting of crispy breadcrumbs on top. 4/5 - Garlic cornbread: YES! Never had garlic in my cornbread before. Crumbly, moist, garlicky. Wish we had ordered that second one. 5/5 They make their own sauces and pickles, and they're also for sale by the jar. You can pre-order online a day ahead. I observed most customers seemed to know to do this. 5% discount if you pay in cash. Hours are Tuesday through Friday for a few hours for lunch, so you either need to be in the area for work or whatnot or plan out a visit here like I did. Located in the way back of an industrial area, I never would have found this on my own. The storefront has a few seats for dine in. My bf wants to come back and try the chicken and pastrami (a special they'll announce on IG a few days prior.)

Yelp
3.5 stars, but rounding up for a local spot serving up solid BBQ. Smoked Out BBQ is located in a small space with a couple other restaurants in a mostly industrial area. Sadly, they were already out of brisket by noon on a Wednesday (or maybe they didn't have it available at all?). I placed my order online, and it was ready in about 20 minutes. It wasn't busy when I arrived at 12:30pm, and my order was ready when I arrived. I tried their Combo 2 Plate (Smoked Tri Tip, Smoked Pork Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Cole Slaw, $19) + Garlic Cornbread ($1.50) [https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=0T7zqUwY_xx3LlpHpDlHTA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg], which was on the higher price for the amount of meat. However, their tri tip was tender and the ribs were meaty. It seemed like there was already a BBQ sauce on the tri tip, and it didn't need more sauce. I did like their thai mango bbq sauce and original pineapple bbq sauce since they had a hint of tropical fruit flavor. The mac & cheese was nice and cheesy, and the cole slaw was solid. The only miss was the garlic cornbread, which was dry/over baked, and lacked flavor. I would come back to give their brisket and beef ribs a try, as well as their tri tip sandwich. All staff were still wearing masks, and they had hand sanitizer. Indoor dining was available, but I did not see an outdoor dining area. Parking can be tough in this complex since spots were limited during the time I came.

Yelp
Amazing BBQ in a hole in the wall location (that's how you know its good!) Yelp reviews mentioned brisket and tri tip were the best items so naturally, I had to go with these as my selections for my combos! I also tried the chicken which was JUST as juicy! Everything had so much flavor and WASN'T OVERSEASONED which is extremely hard to find. A lot of BBQ places just put a lot of salt and pepper to overpower the bland flavor of their meat which is such a waste. Brisket - 5/5 - best item here by far and surprisingly juicy! Charred outside and perfectly soft and tender on the inside! You know when you have high expectations going into something and you're still amazed? That's what happened here with this! Chicken 5/5 - surprised by how juicy it was and the seasoning on top had a slight spice to it, couldn't quite place it but pleasantly surprised! Tri Tip - 4/5 - still good but overshadowed by the other items! Not as juicy as I thought but still delicious nonetheless! Had a nice smokey flavor to it! I appreciate all the different sauces that we could try! I ended up liking the Ghost Pepper BBQ sauce the most. I'll DEFINITELY be coming back here and the online ordering made it extremely simple to order and just pick up!!

Yelp
Ordered a Tri Tip Chili Cheese Tots. Must eat immediately so the tots do not get sogged out. Was large enough for 2 small eaters to share. The meat was tender and flavorful, topped over the crunchy tots with some cheese that made it fantastic. Also ordered Chicken and Ribs to-go for later dinner. Chicken had enough marinate so sauce was not necessary. Ribs were tender enough but was not fall off the bone tender. It needed sauce. Ghost was too spicy for me. Thai was my favorite. They gave us some free pickles, it was super good - crispy, tang with a spice kick. In future, when my schedule aligns with their's, will need to get hold of their famous brisket and hopefully some oxtail.

Yelp
The BEST brisket I've ever had!!! The chicken, ribs, and pork were also very good. 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
Kind of a hole in the wall place in an industrial area but don't let that steer you off. Their cashier brings energy and their food is amazing. Best tri tip and brisket I ever had in the Bay Area! Brisket and tri tip are definitely not dry and so tender. There is also a discount for cash! The only downside is I wished they had longer hours and opened on Sundays.

Yelp
Fabulous food. All homemade and it comes with all the fixins. Pickled onions, cheesey Mac-n-cheese, spicy vegetarian beans. Our party was a success and everyone loved the food.

Yelp
Good place, came to buy a sample of meats for an event. Service was good, food was tasty and was in/out with in 15 minutes.

Yelp
Based on reviews I was super excited to try. Service was laid back and friendly. Turnaround time for food was pretty prompt. The location is in a an industrial area which isn't a deal breaker and kinda cool as far as ambiance goes. But the food while not bad was not worth much to mention. Brisket was soft but was over done. Sauces lacked much flavor but the hottest one did pack a nice punch. With some updates to methods and recipe I'm sure it could be overall good. But with so many options I'm not sure I'll be back. Wish them the best of luck as we all need to support small business. Instead of chunks of brisket it would be nice if it was sliced strips. And would like some more options for sides. I got the sweet beans, the sauce for the beans was good but the beans themselves were slightly undercooked.

Yelp
5 stars? More like 10. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad but everything else was GREAT. We split a 3 item combo. More than enough for 2. Chicken was amazing. Few places do it well Chilli was meaty and Hardy. Could make a meal of that alone. Would have liked more bark on the brisket but it was so tasty. BBQ Sauces are unique. Good Q does not need sauce. Place is located in sb industrial park so don't expect much. It's a hole in the wall. Want fine dining? Go to Armadillo Willies and pay 2X more. Service was great. They just started opening on Saturday. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Insider's Alert - was let in on this big secret today. You'd never know unless you know it's there. Brisket was excellent, pulled pork excellent with a spicy kick, coleslaw crunchy and fresh (with mustard I think). Small place with like 5 4-tops inside. Most people ordering to go. More food than I could eat at one sitting, priced right. Welcoming personnel. I'll be back and bringing friends.

Yelp
Friday we had smoked (18+ hour) brisket sandwich (served in baguette bun) and it was extraordinary. The meat was quite lean with just a teeny bit of visible juicy fat, tenderly rendered with great smokiness. Home made bbq sauce mild/not sweet but nice with adequate hint of spice. Tater tots on the side were well made (very crispy once reheated in oven). The food were delivered to our office and still tasted fresh and snugly presented.

Yelp
2nd time our order came without bbq sauce. Not sure if it's the restaraunt or doordash but they should check this as the brisket gets dry without sauce (we ordered an entire pound). The spicy sausage is flavorful and indeed spicy. The sides like mac and cheese and dirty rice are smaller than expected. Tater tots still on point.

Yelp
Had the Smoked Brisket which was so good and tender. Smoked Pulled Pork very flavorful. Potato salad was also flavorful and great. Mac and cheese can use a little more seasoning (salt). Overall great food great price. Hopefully they read this and fix the mac and cheese. When i do return hopefully not a bland mac and cheese. Would still definitely recommend this place cause the brisket was some and pulled work as well. Cant wait to try the other meats. Service was great. Ambiance was like a little hidden place which had an awesome weirdness to it. Good weird not bad lol.
