Ordered from here twice. Both times disappointed, dissatisfied and disgusting. Cesar is not a Cesar salad. Why is there bacon, pepper corn, and a lack of chicken even though it was an extra 16. Ordered the short ribs, just the look of it you can tell it was burnt. Tried to go past the burnt top. Only to discover the inside tasted burnt. The meat looked juicy. Let’s just say you can’t judge a book by its cover. It was dry and tasted burnt. Over priced, over cooked and under delivered on flavor. Avoid this place at all cos, or else it will cost you good money for food that is not fit for a dog.

My wife and I celebrated her 23rd birthday there and we had such an amazing time, our waitress Hailey was amazing and we got the best service we’ve ever had in Abilene! David one of the managers I believe and another sweet lady (i forgot her name) helped make my wife’s birthday intimate and special…each dish we ate had such a unique taste and bold flavor…we had hardly anything to take home! my wife and I both ordered 14oz ribeyes with a side of greens and Mac and cheese, that I definitely suggest ordering when you go. The other sweet waitress took time out of her shift to take pictures of us, we loved her so much! We are definitely going to be back for anniversaries and birthdays to come!

Atmosphere and Services were fantastic. Food was just ok. I had the short rib, it lacked flavor and was underseasoned. Especially for being advertised as being “smoked” for 24 hours.

Positives: The dining area was lovely and the regional decor was well done. We were a party of seven and were seated immediately. Negatives: We enjoy fine food and are blessed to be able to afford an occasional splurge, but their prices are simply outrageous - $30 for a hamburger?!? We waited for more than an hour for our burger to arrive, and it was lukewarm at best. The other members of our party also said their food ranged from warm to cold. My wife and I asked to not have the Alabama white sauce on our burger, but it arrived sauced. Our server never checked to see if any of us were satisfied with our orders, and we had to call to him to notify that ours wasn't prepared to our specifications. To be fair, they offered to remake our order, but at this point the other members of our party were nearly finished with their meals and confidence in the kitchen was low, so we declined and left hungry. Service was competely absent, despite the fact there were an equal number of open and occupied tables. No updates on our order during our hour-long wait, and our server only refilled our drinks when we flagged him down. We will not return.

We were there dinner time last May. Meatloaf taste like Fake meat, calamari are night and day difference with Olive Garden. Without a doubt, Olive Garden is a lot better. They have grits at that time with olives, SOOO AWFUL TASTE. Smokehouse Calamari small portion, expensive, robbery and microwavable quality which is not good, chicken wings are like re heat from the microwave. Me and my husband will Spend 40 to 50 dollars from Beehive Restaurant Abilene TX but NOT from this restaurant. Last May, no issues on giving us Military Discount. But then when we came back for Lunch, just to try, issues with military discounts. Now they said, no military discount. Not consistent. Fish Taco is not worth it. Possibly, the manager will need to re think and change the menu?

This is a review for the Cattlemen's Exchange, the hotel bar next to the restaurant. I did not have any food, but the drinks and service were top notch! SMOKED OLD FASHIONED! If you love them then you have to try it, made from a locally distilled bourbon. They have a small collection of craft beers on tap including local options. Great selection of liquors! Not sure about wines, haven't had any but have seen several drinking and enjoying them. TV with local games on, several comfortable lounge chairs/couches around the bar, as well as a great outdoor patio area with several tables and chairs. 20% DISCOUNT FOR LOCALS! Side note: This place should be listed separately from the restaurant. The bar makes the restaurants drinks but they have a completely separate space/name.

Went to Smokehouse this evening. Our waiter Jacob was fantastic. My husband and I got the bourbon peach sweet tea and those we delicious. We got the pork belly for an appetizer and I loved it! I ordered the snapper for my entree and the waiter mentioned the grouper was their special tonight so my husband ordered that and the green chili Mac and cheese (which was delicious). Unfortunately, I was extremely underwhelmed. The fish had no flavor whatsoever. I was very disappointed. I don't usually order fish at a restaurant but I wanted something different and I deeply regret it. Overall though I would probably come back to order something else and see if my experience changes, but I dont recommend the fish. Our total for two people plus tip was $150.

Stayed at the hotel for a seminar and after check out time on a Friday, went to a local brunch place that was full and brought back food to eat. Although the hostesses at this restaurant were always friendly, we were told we couldn’t sit and eat any outside food in the area between the bar and restaurant because it was still considered part of the restaurant. I found that so weird since it was just a sitting area and I don’t recall any signs or the hotel staff saying anything about it. It made no sense because NO ONE was around the whole lobby area. I didn’t eat at this restaurant because the reviews were so bad and there are MANY other fabulous eateries around so I wouldn’t spend my money here.

Yelp
Unbelievable service and food here. Never once did we have an empty glass or have to look around for our server to wonder where our food is. Also you get a pretty hefty discount if you are from Abilene. So support local, and go to Smokehouse!

Yelp
We made reservations and went for our anniversary last night. We started with drinks at the bar outside, which were amazing! When we arrived they brought us to our table and said happy anniversary and poured us champagne. Everyone came by to wish us a happy anniversary, and the service was great. I got the prime rib special which was HUGE and so so good. Whatever they use for the bark is amazing, and the sauces are . My husband had the NY strip and we split pecan pie for dessert. Really lovely experience! Great food and service!

Yelp
I do not understand all the good reviews. Staying at the hotel for business. Came last night, ordered the brisket for $43 which felt like a splurge. I've had GREAT brisket at small BBQ spots that was fantastic and for FAR less. This came with "green chili Mac n cheese" and collared greens. I also ordered two lemon drops - hands down the absolute best I've ever had and the only thing worth coming for. The brisket was 3, small, thick cut, bland, exceptionally fatty meat. As completely unexceptional as it could possibly be. The Mac n cheese wasn't bad but just meh. The collared greens were tasty but all of it was barely warm. Perhaps just a bad night....??? Very friendly waiter but not particularly timely. Also, on the glass of wine I ordered, charged me for 9 vs. 6 ounces which I did not specifically order. Next night, tired, I tried to find another place in Abilene, not an easy feat but the one I chose was too busy so I returned for another shot here. I ordered the smoked meatloaf, comes on mashed potatoes with bits of carrot, broccoli, and pearl onions scattered about the edge. The ONLY thing not actually cold, was the meatloaf. If the taters had been hot, they'd have been good. ALL of which sitting in a weird oily sauce - none of the mix of this worked well. The meatloaf, with the little warmth it had would have been ok but a bit mushy on the inside and covered in a sauce so sweet it was tough to eat. I don't prefer sweet food (that isn't expressly a dessert and even then, I don't have a strong sweet tooth). The first night I let the manager know, she took off the charge for the meat and charged me $16 for the greens and Mac. The second night the waiter while not unpleasant was lifeless at best. This place just is NOT good. I don't know how they are even still open. YUCK.

Yelp
Service was excellent!!! Food not so much!! Prime was tough and overcooked! Sides were decent. Atmosphere was nice.

Yelp
Sat quickly. No wait. Ordered 3 things, jambalaya pasta, Brussel sprouts, cornbread. Cornbread tasted like a rusty skillet, however they removed from ticket. Brussel sprouts were AMAZING. Pasta was a 4.5/5 ONLY cause the shrimp was way over seasoned. Was hard to get down the gully. All were a little overpriced and they do not accept cash. Not a fan of places that don't take cash.

Yelp
My husband and I came to celebrate his 29th birthday. We had reservations at 7pm on a Saturday night. The bar and hotel was hopping! We arrived at 6:50 and were told it would be about a 5 min wait, but we were actually seated at 7:18. We both received waters promptly, and ordered 2 sweet teas. We ordered the jalapeño & cheddar cornbread appetizer. It was SO good. It comes drizzled with honey so it's a little sweet. I would've preferred it already cut cuz it kind of crumbled but otherwise delicious. I ordered the House-Smoked Brisket which comes with lemon broccolini and pommes puree with a beef au jus and crispy shallots on top. 10/10. The brisket was sooo tender and the jus went perfect with the mashed potatoes. I also got a side of the green chili mac at the recommendation of friends. It was subpar. It didn't taste like much, kind of bland. My husband ordered the 10oz angus steak, medium rare with the peppercorn sauce. He got the fries and broccolini as sides. The steak was juicy and perfect temperature. Seasoning was on par! The service was great, our server was attentive and prompt. For this meal it was $121 without tip. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The one star is the only star I can give. This is for a beautiful facility. We attended the Mother's Day brunch and there was almost no truly delicious food on the buffet. Truly most of it was inedible. I never leave ugly reviews on a place but this time I had to. The service was ok. Busy day. When I was presented with the bill, I almost died! 65.00 for adults. 54.00 for kids. No one really ate much. Also, this did not include drinks. I was so disappointed because we had looked forward to this all week! Maybe it will become better but we won't be back. Sorry!

Yelp
So we decided to come and try the lunch menu offered at the new restaurant located in the new doubletree hotel. Definitely not busy at all, but when we got inside there was no one at the front to seat us. We walked pretty much all the way in about to seat ourselves, and then a customer sitting said there was someone and she came and walked us back to the front and grabbed us menus. Not a huge issue, but definitely should have someone there or something there to give a heads us there are customers waiting. We were seated and had a nice server. I can't remember her name, but she was nice and attentive. Food, not too impressed. We shared the House smoked wings for an appetizer, that came with pickled carrots & celery which, I did not like. It says it comes with Alabama white sauce. I'm assuming what we got to dip our wings in was that. The pros, it came out hot and the dipping sauce was pretty good. But they were tossed in a semi sweet sauce like bbq sauce almost. Which wasn't too good in my opinion but can be for someone else. Just not my favorite. I ordered the chicken fried sandwich. Which I had maybe two bites and that was it. There was not any flavoring. Maybe the breading is what needed to be seasoned better. I tried putting salt but it did not help. Definitely on the sweet side. I was hoping it had some heat to it since it said it had a jalapeño jam or something to that effect. I've looked at some menus online and couldn't find that item on the menus online. But it was on the menu in the restaurant. The sweet potato fries I ate because they were more tasty and better than my main dish. My husband had the Avocado Turkey Club. He enjoyed it but it was huge. He had to take out some of the meat to actually be able to bite the sandwich. We took the remaining food and gave it to our dogs at home. ( I don't mean that in a mean way, but I did not want to waste food we weren't going to finish off ourselves). We weren't too impressed with the lunch menu. But want to try the dinner menu next to see if it's worth it. I did not get a picture of my husband's food and the chicken wings but did take one of my food.

Yelp
Had a great dinner there and didn't have to be wait to be seated on a busy Friday night. Service was excellent as was the ribeye steak.

Yelp
Service is outstanding and the steak was cooked properly and had flavor. The Pommes Puree was lumpy and more like mashed potatoes and the Peppercorn Sauce was very thin. For the price of these items, ($38 for the steak and sauce and an additional $6 for the Pommes Puree) I would have liked a little more consistency, but the flavors were still good.

Yelp
Need to update your restaurant hours to reflect your actual hours of serving food. We came for breakfast and the website and here says 7-2.

Yelp
I've tried this twice. And I want to like it, but I've not had good experiences. The first was with a large group when they first opened. I'm fine to give them a lot of grace for service, and the food was decent. Some in our party really liked it. The second time was for Mothers Day. To be fair, I didn't do enough research, I just made the reservation because it was available in the OpenTable app. Shame on me! I didn't realize that it was buffet only, and I certainly wasn't told it was $65 a person. Now if this buffet had a prime rib carving station with decent portions, king crab legs, decadent desserts, eggs benedict, and all the things - I could understand the price. It was a brisket tenderloin and turkey on the carving stations. Eggs/omelets also available. The tenderloin was so-so. The egg/potatoes casserole - so dry, no flavor. The French bread pudding - dry with no sauce to go over it. The tilapia not worth discussing. The charcuterie looked okay - the meats looked like they were changing colors maybe from being out. The smoked salmon was good but really weird presentation and to separate utensils for the salmon and cream cheese. For some reason, the crackers were soggy and not crisp. The chocolate mousse cake was decent but other desserts flavorless. All and all it was disappointing - $65 per person, 1 $9 mimosa (used to mimosas being less on a brunch) and a tea. Had I known when I sat down that it was $65 a person - I would have left.

Yelp
Great service, large portions and a great meal! Definitely a great date night spot in Abilene!

Yelp
First time to the Smokehouse, but I'll be back! I tried the lunch special of Catfish Tacos...they were absolutely outstanding. One of the best bites I've had in a long time. The fish was lightly and perfectly fried, the sauce had great flavor, and the slaw on top was awesome. Great service as well!

Yelp
Paid another visit to this restaurant inside the Double Tree as we visited my daughter at least once a month up in Abilene. Dinner order consisted of a smoked 1/2 chicken with broccolini ($36) plate, kids burger w fries ($11), a Bibb salad ($14), smokehouse Brisket plate ($43) with mashed potatoes and broccoli. No pics on the brisket plate ($43) as it looked like a hot mess as everything was just thrown onto plate. Restaurant stated several steak options were sold out even though it was 6pm when we were sat down. Service is painfully slow but the waiters are very friendly. Chicken skin was burnt to black and the brisket itself was cooked well and looked like pot roast and had a glaze on top. The kids burger was good and grandson said it was a little spicy. Maybe too much pepper. The next morning we order breakfast at the same place and ordered the kids fruit plate ($6), the kids eggs with chicken sausage ($9), 2 coffees ($9), eggs Benedict ($17), and one omelette made to order ($17). The breakfast service was slow but the food was great and served hot. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was good not all over crowded. The story on this visit was that a visiting football team was staying in the hotel and trashed several rooms and which caused me a several hours delay in checking into hotel and supposedly ate through their restaurant food inventory.

Yelp
Our family (my girls are 12 and 10) went on a Friday night and were very impressed with Smokehouse! The kids menu is great and my girls were able to enjoy excellently cooked medium steak and delicious salmon in kid's size portions that were still large for them. They even let one of them upgrade from a kids French fry side to the green chili Gouda mac-n-cheese off the adult menu. Which, by the way, the adult sides menu is amazing! I want to go back just to try all the sides! I had a Caesar salad and the green chili mac-n-cheese and it was so good. My husband had the pork belly appetizer for a meal and we all shared the Brussels for an appetizer. My oldest doesn't eat vegetables but she even ate some of the Brussels. Their menu is different and not typical BBQ so come ready to try something new and high quality. My daughter said it was the best steak ever and she is so picky... I tried a bite of the salmon and it was delicious. We also ordered the jalepeno skillet cornbread to go with our meal and it was amazing! The service is great! They pay attention to detail, management checked on us at least 3 times, and he even stepped in to pick up our empty plates! When management leads by example then the waitstaff gives better service. I was very impressed. I'm excited that Abilene has this new upscale dining option downtown and look forward to coming here again.

Yelp
Been to this place twice and the furthest i've gotten in ordering is a glass of water. The first trip all the systems were down so only cash payments...not their fault, but we waited 10 minutes at the hostess booth before she came to let us know. The second time we tried was tonight...around 8pm so it wasn't busy. It was definitely an off hour. We got a table this time, we were served water and given menus. Twenty minutes later, grumpy eye contact from multiple servers and still nothing so we left. This place was due to be open for two more hours so it wasn't closing time. This place has the worst service they make it impossible to even taste the food for reviews. We will not be trying a third time.

Jh A.

Yelp
Very nice decor and ambiance was great. Loved the booths! Steak was fine, salads were delicious. My recommendation would be to re-veal price point for the steaks. The price is certainly fine, but the quality has to be reflective. Not there yet but you will be. Keep up the hard work. It's tough, I know. Really hope this place succeeds because the atmosphere is top notch.

Shanin M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Hoping the photo shows the size of the pork chop and short rib. I felt like Fred Flintstone. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great food and amazing service. Our server went above and beyond. It was perfect for a lunch date.
