We were excited about a new BBQ place, and tried it out opening weekend. Tried to make a reservation and learned it's counter service. (Order at counter and food brought to table. Came out fast for us.)
The decor is not overdone. The guys at the counter wore party store ironic cowboy hats, which was a little silly. They have tables large and small, so room to bring a group, and a full bar with some good whiskeys. The music was a good variety of country. Louder than I would usually choose, but I liked the music and was honestly too busy chewing to be conversational, because the food was so good.
The menu has choices of meats, sandwiches, and platters, with a bunch of sides and apps to choose from. I was tempted by the fried catfish sandwich, but had to do the Q on first visit. The Quadruple Bypass sammy gave me a chance to try the brisket, pulled pork and hot link sausage all at once... With mac-n-cheese right on the Texas toast. It was outstanding! The brisket and pork were juicy and the sausage had an appropriate bite. They had all the BBQ sauces to choose from, except Alabama-white. There was a pile of meat on the sandwich, almost falling off the plate. I skipped lunch and still struggled to finish it.
The fried pickles and cayenne ranch were also delicious. And the coleslaw was good. I prefer creamy slaw, which this wasn't, but it was a good slaw of the not too vinegary sort. The sweet tea was good too, and if you get a soft drink, they have refills.
Come for the food. You won't be disappointed. And the service was friendly and quick.
