Decided to stop at Smokey Mo's for the first time...what a nice experience! The service was impeccable during lunch hours, the cashier was helpful with all my questions. We barely stepped away from the counter and the food was ready...wow! Fast service. Food was hot and presented clean. Wife had the brisket which could use more flavor however it was proper tender. I had the Pork belly burnt ends...tender and had a nice balance of smoke and flavor. Sides were Bacon Cheese Potatoes and Mac and Cheese...both were delicious. If you're looking for great fast BBQ this is the place to go. 7.5/10 -Chef Tommy- @cheftommyatx

Decided to visit Smokey Mo's BBQ for the first time last Friday, dinner for two. It was easy to park, the restaurant was not busy. Wife and I shared a three meat plate with Brisket, Turkey and Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Sides were bacon cheddar potatoes and mac and cheese. Everything tasted really good, especially the pork belly. It wasn't a five star experience for a detail, though... sides were served cold. Meats were slightly colder than we'd expected, but extremely flavorful. We'll still come back for a second round, and maybe try some of their other options. Service is fast, staff are attentive and polite. Clean tables and restrooms, decent prices.

This is the 2nd time we ordered a pound of the moist brisket and received what seems to be brisket from the day before, reheated. It’s very dry and tough. Sucks because this is the only place we go for bbq

Google
Walked in and the inside looked new. The interior layout had a simple modern look. I ordered the one meat plate (sliced brisket) with potato salad and cheddar new potatoes. Gal at the counter was friendly and was key in helping me decide on my sides. Brisket was tender and delicious. The sides were also very good. Overall quality, quantity, and price was great. Very much enjoyed dining here. 👍

My gson loves the turkey and banana pudding and I love the turkey and jalapeno sausage and the staff is courteous and friendly

Google
First overall experience was great. Clean dining room, friendly employees, and the food was pretty darn good. We’re a fan of the brisket (moist), the cream corn, potato salad, and even the pork ribs were pretty solid. When it came time for dessert- the pecan pie was a bit too “boozy” tasting for me (texture was a bit runny for my liking), so we decided to try the banana pudding… it was really good. We’ll be back.

Got 1 lbs of brisket, 1/2 lbs of turkey and 1/2 lbs of sausage. The brisket and turkey were very good, smoky and flavorful. The sausage I did not really like. The skin was very tough and the sausage had just a peppery flavor. The service was fast and staff was friendly and courteous and smiling when interacting with us. Our three meats and a brisket baked potato came to just under $60 with no drinks or sides. Will have to try again in the near future and get a combo plate to try some sides.

I treated my grandmother to mothers day by eating here tho I forgot to give them a tip I did and do enjoy and recommend this place to anyone looking for some good and affordable BBQ friendly staff good food and great music. Thank you Smokey Mo's for good food. Oh not to mention the green bean and corn delicious I enjoyed every bite.💯 Good service.

Yelp
My first time here and we went for breakfast. It was good but a little cold/room temperature. I'm sure the most was fresh but it was room temperature and the other ingredients were cold. If the food was warmer I'd give it 5 stars. There were no other customers since they had just opened.

Yelp
Your typical Texan fast casual bbq joint. Nothing extraordinary to brag about, but a decent enough meal if you're starving. Prices and menu options are on par with all the other bbq places all over Texas, no surprises or standouts here. The two meat and Three meat plates are not a lot of food. Very little, in fact, comparatively to other such businesses. I was hungry an hour later. Meats were bland and mediocre. Pork loin was the better option, followed by ribs, followed by brisket. Sides were okay--it's difficult to screw up coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Creamed corn tasted like dessert--so sweet, I was wondering how much sugar was dumped into that. Staff are accommodating and service is quick. Not a place I'd return to. There are tons of similar restaurants that offer better food.

Yelp
Came here this morning to get breakfast tacos for the fam. I was really let down. The tortillas were cold, and the brisket and egg tacos were super sad. I can see why this place is not that busy on a Saturday morning. They really should have as many customers or more than Shipleys next door. The refried beans and cheese tacos were soaked in straight cooking grease. The only reason they get a one star today is their coffee is average and hot. The employees were not friendly at all. I'll continue to make my own breakfast.
google avatar

Marilyn D.

Yelp
I usually love Smoky Mo's but today was super disappointing. I ordered two bean cheese and bacon tacos and it was more tortilla than anything else. The staff was friendly but unfortunately if these are the new portion sizes I won't be back.

Yelp
Amazed to have BBQ this tasty in Kyle!! I ordered a 3 meat plate that came with two sides: lean brisket, jalapeño sausage, pork ribs, potato salad and pinto beans and HOLY MOLLY WAS IT GOOD!! I tried both the Smokey MO's TX BBQ Original and Spicy sauce and I'm telling you what - perfection! The customer service was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is clean and offers outside patio seating! I can't believe I hadn't been here before! 3 Meat Plate

Yelp
Update-still love the breakfast but not the best bbq. The service was great. Staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The brisket & chopped bbq was good. The pork ribs tasted old and stale. I don't think I will try those again. The slaw and green beans were ok as well. I will stick with the breakfast or stick with the brisket.

Yelp
It was okay. 3-star BBQ. I'd say this is about B- to C+ BBQ (IMO). I would still eat here and recommend this place, because it's got potential and some of the offerings were good. Ok, when it comes to BBQ, I have not found a place that has everything great. Basically what I experience is one place has great brisket, so-so ribs. Someone else has awesome ribs, okay brisket, respectable sausage. One place I know has awesome sides, and great pork belly, but so-so brisket (oversalted) and okay ribs. So the A+ Tier would be Franklin's BBQ. They have really good top notch brisket, and pork ribs are very good. Turkey is okay. Potato salad is too mustardy. Their homemade pies are superb. Another A+ Tier would be Louie Mueller in Taylor. A+ Beef Rib (the best), solid brisket, okay sausage (was dry), but awesome dipping sauce. And Interstellar - they have the best sides and awesome peached glazed pork belly. Best mac n cheese, best tomato salad, awesome jalapeno cole slaw, and I cannot get enough of those smoked scalloped potatoes. Salt Lick would be 2nd tier, on a good night they'd be B+. As for Smokey Mo's, what we got at our catering event was about B- results. The Brisket was really good, had great bark, but it was over salted. The sausage was sausage. It was probably the best meat. The Chicken was good, but over salted. Mac n Cheese was creamy good but has some after-taste to it that was a bit off for me - not sure what it was, it just looked better than it tasted. The beans - meh. The potato salad was solid. The onions - loved them! Very fresh and large cuts of them. I love onions and these were top notch. The spicy sweet sauce was really good. Everyone cleaned that up. The regular sauce - was meh. All that comes to a B- (IMO of course). But had that brisket been better seasoned, less salt, it would have made this a 4-star review, and i would have been really happy because it was juicy, well made, great bark on it, and good flavor. I'm thinking we got a bad batch? But don't let the 3-star fool ya, I'd still give these guys a go when I'm in Kyle, and you should too.

Yelp
Smokey Mo's is great, reasonably priced bbq. What makes it even better is that it's in the neighborhood, close to home so there's no need to fight traffic driving into town for a great meal. The dining room is fresh and comfortable for dining in. Meat is perfectly done and portions are sizable. And there are several options for sides. The green beans, potato salad, Mac-n-cheese are all great!
google avatar

Taylor G.

Yelp
I would say Smokey Mo's BBQ is just alright. The concept is super similar to Rudy's (ie decent chain barbecue) but I wasn't wowed by it. I had a 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage, green beans and pinto beans. Wouldn't order the green beans again, but the pinto beans and meat were decent. The service was as good as you'd expect for counter service and the new shop was pretty nice (& clean).

Emilio L.

Yelp
Good sliced brisket sandwich. Their sliced brisket is tender and juicy. I would definitely go back.
google avatar

Candace B.

Yelp
Tried this place recently and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly customer service, and the big Mo sandwich with chopped brisket and pork loin was delicious. The barbecue sauce had a nice little kick to it as well and the side of beans were super tasty. The mac & cheese and potato salad were okay but I have been thinking about that sandwich since I had it and have plans to go back again soon.
google avatar

Keeley V.

Yelp
The staff were very friendly and restaurant clean. The prices seemed reasonable for bbq. However, unfortunately all the meats except the smoked turkey were really overdone and not very flavorful. The bacon cheddar potatoes were also not at all what I was expecting, it's more like covered diced potatoes than a casserole or mashed side. Probably won't be returning.

Yelp
So good!!! We got everything! Ordered to go and ate it too fast to post pictures. Excellent job!

Yelp
Great experience! Our food was delicious & the service was great. It's also the nicest Smokey Mo's we've been to! Great seating inside and outside too.

Yelp
The service at this place was amazing and I had no problem with that at all. The food came out quick which I also enjoyed since I was taking it to go. The food however was not good. I got the jalapeño sausage which just tastes like sausage from H‑E‑B that I cooked at home. Nothing special and kinda dry. I also got the ribs which the bark was good and the seasoning was great but the way the ribs were cooked is not appealing to me. They were dry and tough to eat. The cream corn was "mid" to say the least and could find better elsewhere and the green beans were terrible. They tasted like I went to the store, bought a can of green beans, heated them up in the microwave and ate them. No flavor and no seasoning. Last but not least I tried the mac n cheese and it's straight from the box which some people may like but if it's a local joint I'm expecting better then just boxed commercial Mac n cheese. I'm coming off harsh because the place looked like it had so much potential and it's not a chain. Rudy's is a chain and tastes better.

Mark G.

Yelp
Good BBQ and friendly service. My son asks for Smokey Mo's sausage all of the time and my daughter loves the green beans!

S C.

Yelp
First off, the smell in here is heavenly If they sold a candle that smelled like their bbq, I'd buy it! The service and food was top level! I've been here twice, and can't wait to go here again! I think the food is reasonably priced for the quantity you're given on your plate.

Yelp
Great food everything I've ever gotten has been amazing . The staff is super sweet they let you try samples to be sure you're going to enjoy the meal. The actual restaurant is cozy and always clean . My kids and i will continue coming back

Todd C.

Yelp
Been to Smokey Mo's up in Austin and wanted to try the Kyle location while I was down there. Great brisket as always and treated myself to the pork belly burnt ends which I think are relatively new. They were excellent with a slightly sweet and tangy smoked flavor. Sides of Mac and cheese and coleslaw finished off another nice meal from Smokey Mo's!
google avatar

Jimmie G.

Yelp
Decent meat, little fatty, but decent. Plenty of seating and options to choose from. Wish they had more options for their bbq sauce though. I would eat here again. Try it out if you're in the area. Price isn't too bad either.

Yelp
What a nice surprise! This place exceeded my expectations. We tried the 3 meat plate with marbled brisket, turkey, and lean brisket with buttered potatoes and creamed corn. Generous portions and the sides were delicious. We called to get our order to go, the gal who answered was super sweet and went above and beyond to help us. Our order was ready immediately. The restaurant is in a great location. Next time we want bbq, we will go and dine in.

Yelp
I'm a BBQ snob! To establish my BBQ street creds, I grew up here in Central Texas before the influx of BBQ newbies. Lockhart, Luling, Taylor, Bastrop and Elgin, Texas BBQ joints were and still are the kings of Texas BBQ, in my opinion. I not so snobbish as to not try out a new BBQ joint. I have NOT tried the ribs or any of the sides in this place so I cannot comment on those food item. The shop does appear to cry all the typical sides you would expect to see in a BBQ joint. The items I have tried are the brisket and sausage. The brisket is fair. It has a somewhat tasty bark and not too salty, but I didn't see heavy, red, meat smoke rings which typically occurs when meat is smoked low, slow and long, with oak. To me, sausage tasted STRAIGHT-UP commercial. On the positive side, the staff are friendly, patient and fill orders quickly and accurately. The place is very clean (especially the bathroom); the seating picnic style; well lit by natural lighting. The shop is located a strip type mall with a lot of parking. I will not rate the BBQ prices because satisfaction with product is relative to what one will pay for a service. I will use the business again. The store is close, open everyday, and when you need to satisfy a BBQ Jones thats a major positive. Gotta try those ribs though and soon!

Yelp
Good food, decent prices, staff was eager to help...no complaints from me. The only thing I didn't love was the macaroni...I still ate it though.

Leo G.

Yelp
Awesome, delicious and helpful. Can't go wrong on a spot / gem like this. I was traveling for work and undecided what to eat. Saw , Apple review and excited to come. The pictures give no justice. This place is by far aesthetically clean well up kept. Daniel the manager helped me and he was patient and gave great suggestions.

Yelp
I went here on a Saturday around 7 and they were so quick to get our food out. I got the brisket baked potato and it was everything I wanted. The banana pudding is good as well. I went with four other people and everybody loved their food.

L S.

Yelp
Pork Ribs3 Meat Plate The smoked Chicken was by far the best from the menu I had on this occasion. It was juicy perfectly smoked with a flavorful outer seasoning. I would say it was excellent. The ribs were very good. As far as the brisket it was good but by my own error didn't request fatty slices. The sides of beans which is their own specialty were very good. The creamy cole slaw was good. The only thing I would say was subpar was the slice of chocolate cake. But you can tell was bought from another vendor and not homemade. Overall I was very pleasantly surprised and raved about the smoked whole chicken.

Yelp
Good brisket and pork. Friendly counter service. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!!! This is some delicious Texas BBQ. The ribs just fell off the bone. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Yelp
I was craving a Sloppy Joe Sandwhich, and I was lucky enough to discover this place. I got a shredded beef sandwhich, and they provide 2 bottles per table of BBQ sauce: regular & spicy. Both sauces were excellent, so all you have to do is open up your sloppy Joe and apply your preferred sauce, and it was delicious and exactly what I wanted! They also have a little corner area with toppings like onions, pickles, lemons, & white bread. I do recommend the place. I was happy!

Yelp
Wow! Smokey Mo's is a great option for a catered event! When my daughter told us she was going to have her wedding in nearby Wimberly, TX, we thought that brisket would be a great idea for the wedding reception. Smokey Mo's really delivered for us!! The price was excellent, especially for the quality of food and service they provided. If you are planning an event in the area, Smokey Mo's is very easy to work with. Sarah was very responsive to emails as we prepared and chose the meats and sides. They had two people at the event to serve who were very pleasant and helpful and they packed up the leftovers and cleaned up when they were done. The brisket, jalapeno sausage, and the turkey were delicious and the sides matched perfectly. Thank you so much to the staff who together helped make our daughter's wedding memorable!

Earl K.

Yelp
First time experience! Awesome service! Terrific food. Great location and comfortable seating. The sauce wasn't favorable but I will try again.

Yelp
Excellent bar b q at a reasonable price allows this restaurant to meet or exceed customer expectations

Yelp
I was headed to the donut shop when I saw a young lady with a Smokey MO's Now Open sign. I had no idea they served breakfast. I went over to the restaurant and ordered myself a potato, egg and cheese breakfast taco and I ordered my hubby a biscuit with gravy. The taco was delicious. I'll definitely be back to try their other ones. The biscuits smelled so good but I couldn't eat any because the gravy had sausage and I don't eat pork or beef. My hubby said it was okay. I tried some of their original and spicy BBQ and it was pretty good. The restaurant itself was pretty roomy and it's a cute ambiance. I have never been to any of their locations so their excellent customer service was greatly appreciated. Now this place was empty. I was their only customer so that could impact the way they perform but there were plenty staff there ready for a crowd. I'll be back to try their lunch menu. Give them a try. I'm so glad to have a BBQ spot close by.

Yelp
Love the brisket here. It ghastly a dry rub that's a little spicy. Just gives it a well needed kick.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
It was ok. Staff was amazing. Cute place but the ribs and brisket had no smoke flavor. Sauces were really yummy.

Beverly K.

Yelp
Came in and bought a 2 meat plate for $17.99 and another lil mo plate for $7.79 I got brisket and pork ribs on the $17.99 I watched the gentleman cut up my brisket and place on to my plate which was totally trash meat it was very dry and all broken up and my 2 small small ribs that he put on my plate which he never weighed by the way I watched it all . This place I will never come back too. It's really went down hill. I spent my last dollar in this place.Way over priced for what they give you. I realize meat is expensive. But my god at least weigh my meat so just can get what I paid for.. never again!!!I would have gotten my money back but I was in a hurry.
google avatar

Kathryn W.

Yelp
Glad to welcome this new addition to Kyle. I drove by on the way home from the precinct office and saw they were finally open and talked the hubs into ordering some for dinner. I was quite impressed with the taste - we got brisket, Turkey and 3 sides plus SPO. The sides were my favorite as they all paired well with the meats. My only suggestion would be order more meat than you think you'd want because the portions were quite small (we got a 1/2lb and 1/3lb) and be sure to ask for extra sauce. All of that aside - we will be back!
google avatar

Kat M.

Yelp
Breakfast tacos are amazing! Have to say the way they cut their brisket is the weirdest! We have never had it cut into sliver slices. The sausage tastes like Eckridge farms which is a little disappointing. The quantity of food for the price seems a little stingy.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I love bbq brisket and decided to try the new Smokey Mo's near my house. I was pretty disappointed. We got brisket, ribs, sausage, potato salad, Mac n cheese, pinto beans, and coke slaw. The ribs were tough, the Mac n cheese was heavy on what tasted like cheese whiz.. the brisket and beans were just ok. The regular sauce was pretty spicy. My husband said the sausage and cole slaw were the best items. I would definitely not eat here again- too many other bbq places nearby that are better (like Bill Millers).

Javier G.

Yelp
Overall good bbq but the down side is that I found a hair in my potato salad. Good customer service and cleanliness.

Cris N.

Yelp
Chicken is really good and tasty. I recommend this place. Staff greets you as you enter.
google avatar

Mary R.

Yelp
It was ok. My husband is hard to please unfortunately when it comes to BBQ. The green beans had a great flavor and the potato salad was delicious. The chopped BBQ was not that good. I should have asked if sauce was already incorporated into the meat because I would have the meat "dry" and I at the sauce. The cream corn was good. Brisket was tender, pork loin was pretty good. I would like to try their breakfast though.

Adam A.

Yelp
I have dined at the Kyle location five times now. The customer service is awesome, very polite and attentive staff. The food is decent, nothing special. My biggest issue is of the five times I have eaten here, I had mild to medium food poisoning twice. Sadly, although the restaurant is only 0.2 miles from my home, I will not be dining here in the future.

Richard R.

Yelp
I have eaten there several times, very good service. The manager is an exceptional person for his job. They have formed extremely well performing team.

Kacie H.

Yelp
Very good BBQ. Sides need a little work but are still good. Decent pricing for what you get. Definitely a better value than Salt Lick. We have eaten here several times now.

C E.

Yelp
The food was good, and most of the staff were friendly, but there was one girl behind the counter that gave me and my friend dirty looks and ignored any requests we had. I believe I heard someone refer to her as Mel maybe Melanie.

Nereida T.

Yelp
Great service!! The manager was so friendly and the brisket was SOOO good!! Highly recommend!
