Smokin Barrel Barbeque

I had been hearing about this place for a while and decided it was time to taste it for myself. Even though I Googled the directions, it was kind of confusing to get there because there is no signage that identifies it. It is inside a former community center building. I called my order in just to clarify the menu items, and the young lady who answered the phone was very pleasant, professional, and patient, with me explaining to me all of my questions. I picked up my food and was greeted warmly. I arrived at home with my order, a sample of everything, and my wife smelled the aroma and curiously opened the bags, found the rib tips, and tasted one. Then another, and another... she said they were so good. Later on, I finally sat down to eat and laid out everything, brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken wings, and the rib tips... all were on point without the sauce (which is provided on the side). I also ordered the corn casserole, which was delicious as well. If you are a barbecue fan, this place is one you have to experience.

The staff are always great and I have liked going here since the first time I saw the sign and stopped. But I hate to say the food has been very hit or miss the past several times I have stopped for carryout. The pulled pork is normally really good but the buns are frequently burnt/overcooked. The mac and cheese was slightly spicy and tasted great when I first started going here and now you never know what you are going to get. Last time it was very good. Today the pasta was very overcooked and the sauce did not taste the same. I understand you make things from scratch and they will vary but this is too much. Fantastic to not good whatsoever. Also today the barbecue sauce was missing from my order. Everything is too expensive for it not to taste good and be more consistent.

Love this place but lately it’s been hit or miss. When checking website brisket is ready. Once you go to restaurant told only chop or none available. Last few times when they did have brisket they pulled it earlier losing the great smoke flavor I love when visiting prior. Hopefully this issue won’t continue with brisket not being available on Fridays or I’ll have to find a new BBQ restaurant going forward. Peace and blessings.

Absolutely love this place! The staff is astoundingly friendly! The food was perfectly seasoned! I personally got the rib tip dinner and it was fire!🔥 the baked beans I think are hands down the best I’ve had! I won’t be going anywhere else for my barbecue needs! Highly recommend stopping by!

I have been here many times and when I ordered the loaded Mac in cheese, I say no sauce or the sauce is always on the side. Not only did they put sauce in it but thr drenched it in bbq! My bag was dripping from it. They really should not put it on there, it should always come on the side.

We live very close by but have not stopped in yet. Today, we ordered online and picked up. The reviews and pictures convinced us to give it a go. We were craving something a little different and this definitely hit the spot. The brisket was very good. I enjoyed the flavor and the bark. The sauce, served on the side, perfectly complements the meat. The meat moat certainly stands alone, though. I ate quite a bit of the brisket and rib tips without any sauce. The sauce is thin, and like a sweet and sour profile. Very, very good and a nice change of pace from the sauce fiends here in the North. As someone born and raised in Tennessee, this is by far the closest I've come to barbecue that taste like home. The corn casserole is just like Momma's, perfectly sweet and creamy. The mac and cheese actually tastes like CHEESE! And of course, we capped off with banana pudding. The sweet server gave me an extra after I couldn't order it online today. I was verrrry grateful for that! It was the perfect portion for lunch - small sides, small rib tips, and half pound of brisket for about $25.

Old school customer service. Family-owned and they truly care about taking care of the customer. They have expanded for a sit down spot in New Pal, about 7 mins down the street of you're looking to dine in. One of the best BBQ spots in Indy. Highly recommend if you're wanting that small town feel, friendly staff and quality BBQ.

Had this BBQ today 1ST time. The meat was good. The baked beans and greens not so much. Cole slaw need a little seasoning. Potato salad and corn casserole were good. Banana pudding was good also. As you can see I bought everything. Lol ...meat had was, tips, brisket and chicken. Not the beat I've had but will return. Have a great day! Oh yea, service was great and friendly! Thanks!

This is an awesome barbecue joint that you will find tucked away in the Camp Sertoma Community Center Bingo Hall. There is ample parking available on the camp's compound and being that it is in a bingo hall there is more than enough seating available. They offer dine in, take out, or drive-up. They serve barbecue meat that includes, rib tips, brisket, and pulled pork. And for sides they have corn casserole, green beans, macaroni, baked beans, slaw, and mac n cheese. They also had desserts. You know I had to try their banana pudding. They only serve canned drinks (remember, this is a pop-up restaurant in a bingo hall). I ordered the rib tip dinner and a bunch of their sides to go with it. I ate my meal in the hall and it only took about 5 minutes for them to prepare it. The rib tips came with the sauce on the side and they were delicious. Cooked to perfection. Not too hard and not too soft and packed with flavor. As i right this review, I can honestly say that I cannot pick a favorite side of the many that I tried. They were all so good. There was not a weak one in the bunch. The banana pudding was on point too. They give you some decent servings at a very reasonable price. If the food was not enough, the staff is the friendliest that I have encountered in a long time. They were very welcoming, patient and helpful. They really enhanced my dining experience. If you are looking for some good barbecue with superior service, look no further. This place has a limited schedule, so find out when they will be open and run, don't walk here and get some of that good grub. I highly recommend them.

OMG! In this case it stands for Outstanding Meal Greatness. This place is very off the beaten path and very much of a surprise. If I told you that one of the best barbeque places in Indy was in a BINGO Hall, I can guess the look you would give me. Prepare to have your mind changed. Smokin' Barrel operates out of the Seratoma Club on Brookville Road. They operate a thriving take out business or, if us, you are too far away to do take out, you can make yourself at home in the attached BINGO Hall. The food is amazing. The brisket is tender, soft and moist. It has the perfect bark and a beautiful smoke ring. The flavor is some of the best Indiana has to offer. The tips are well flavored and nicely cooked. They offer a variety of sides and the green beans, mac and cheese and slaw we tasted had a great hometown feel and delivered a ton of flavor. Try them soon. Your meal will be memorable.

We ordered food from Smokin' Barrel BBQ a handful of times and have never been disappointed! They are unique in that you pre-order online, stating your food order and the time of pickup, you pull up to the building in front of the door (or in the line) and someone comes to your car window to ask your name and brings out your order. We typically park in their parking lot and eat while it's hot. My husband is crazy for their pulled pork dinner which provides a generous serving of pulled pork and always with baked beans and corn casserole. Hubby says theirs is "fabulous"! I only ever get the one pound of rib tips and no sides. Fill my belly with as many rib tips as I can stuff in there! Delicious! Great food, generous portions and the friendliest staff ever! Good people putting out a quality product! If you don't know how delicious Smokin' Barrel BBQ is, get on down there and try it. I'd venture to say it's probably the best BBQ in Indianapolis!

I honestly can't say too much be cause I only had one little portion of meats no sides. Smoking barrel was set up at the blues beer and BBQ fest in Cumberland. I had the meat sampler. Everything had great smokey flavor and was perfectly seasoned and juicy. I had a bit too much fat and bones on my brisket but there was plenty of good meat so I really need to try them out again at their location

Best BBQ in Indy!!! Love the owners. Love all the meats...........But its the sides that are extraordinary. I hate cole slaw but I love their cole slaw. My son hates green beans but he loves their green beans. Their baked beans and mac and cheese are excellent. And save room for the banana pudding. I used them for my daughter's graduation open house party and will be using them for my son's this year. It is so easy to order and the food is always excellent. Love the New Palestine location as well.

I went there yesterday to try smoking barrel and it is absolutely awesome. I had brisket. My friend had pulled pork mac & cheese baked beans. It was amazing and banana pudding was wonderful. Prices are not bad. I recommend this place to anyone. Thank you.

The ribs are tender, juicy, and have the best flavor of any we have tried in or around Indianapolis. The brisket melted when you bit into it, too. The unexpected winner was the macaroni and cheese.

I couldn't believe I've never heard of this place nor tried BBQ like this anywhere!!!! Thankful for my friend who moved from NY. He wanted a good BBQ place & he found this place. He told me about this place! I'm definitely coming back!!!! I'm picky when it comes to pulled pork- their pulled pork ranks TOP on the list for me!!!

Great brisket, Texas style pepper flavor. Expanding to a second location in new Palestine soon. Looking forward to it as that's where I work.

My absolute favorite BBQ joint in Indy! All varieties of meat are seasoned to perfection. Nice choice of sides & desserts as well, and each are plentiful servings. Prices are comparable to other BBQ restaurants...but you always get your moneys worth. You can sense the abundance of TLC that's put into each and every meal thats prepared & served. Not just in the quality of food, but the excellent consistency of all food served and quality of service you receive from placing your order, preparing your food & even in delivering it to your car. You get a smile and sense of appreciation as their customer. (And I really enjoy being a valued customer!) You can order a single serving or order in advance for large quantities... like we do for special family occasions. I've had a little of everything they serve. But my personal favorite is the Brisket!! It's so tender and tasty that i like it without any sauce. But their BBQ sauces are yummy too. So, if you're looking for a great Go-To for BBQ Trust me when I tell you that you won't be disappointed with Smokin Barrel BBQ! They are only open on certain days of the week... so be sure to look up their Days & hours of operation prior to ordering. Enjoy your treat! Because I know we always do!

I went on a Saturday afternoon and was able to easily pull right in to their drive thru. The lady that took my order was really really sweet and allowed me to take my time figuring out my order. For the quality of the food and the amazing service my meal tasted even better. I ordered the rib tip dinner which came with two sides ( I got macaroni and green beans) both held their own in terms of robust flavor . The rib tips were really well seasoned, no need for sauce but they provided it on the side for dipping . I will definitely be visiting again!

The food was absolute garbage, I ordered the sampler which was suppose to be 3lbs of their meats,they were out of ribs out of chicken and only had brisket and pulled pork the brisket was completely fat, they didn't even bother to trim the fat off, the sides were even worse I spent over 90.00 for this garbage

Smokin' Barrel is HANDS DOWN the best BBQ! I've tried many in Texas, and (yet) they all disappoint. Next time you want BBQ, hit up their socials (for current hours), and head out Brookville Road/SR 52 to German Church Road. Turn left at the Sertoma Club. Tell CJ and Mike that Momma D sent ya!

Went tonight for the first time and cannot say enough good things about this place. Not only is the food amazing but the owners are the nicest people. They make you feel like family from the moment you walk in. I loved the fun family atmosphere. I wish I had discovered this place sooner. This will definitely be a regular dining spot.

This was my first visit and actually wanted to order a pound of rib tips,but they were still on the smoker. So glad I had a chance to try the brisket. I don't think there is an adjective that could best describe this delightful, delicious, perfectly seasoned, tender meat. You really don't need sauce, might be a sin to do so! Next for the sides, green beans seasoned and not boring at all. I also got the corn casserole and it too was delicious. I am soo glad that I took a chance and drove a few miles to support this wonderful family business. I also had a chance to meet one of the owners, such a sweet lady. I wish them much success! I will definitely try to get by there as often as I can, please try to support our small businesses, they are truly gems in our community!!!

Five stars, for sure. We actually ordered takeout two weekends in a row! BBQ and sides were very tasty. I'm not a huge fan of rib tips, but theirs was very tasty and tender. Service was quick and friendly. The inside is pretty simple and casual, but we found the drive thru pretty convenient. Definitely worth a quick trip to the SE side of Indy.

Authentic and Affordable!!! Visited for the 1st time this awesome establishment. Today they had a lunch special: Brisket Taco's. These tacos were filled with mountains of brisket topped with a light spicy ranch, salsa and cilantro. Don't forget to squeeze the lime and add the extra juice needed for that hint of tang. There are also sides which included Mac-n-cheese, Green Beans, Coleslaw and my favorite corn pudding. For an extra special treat, I enjoyed a wonderful portion of banana pudding. This food experience was the highlight of my day. Take in consideration this is a Drive Thru only opportunity. So bulk up and bring home some of the best BBQ you'll ever have.

Simply some of the best BBQ in Indy! You can enjoy the brisket and rib tips without sauce, they're that good and tender. I've tried the tacos and they were tasty, but I go back for the BBQ! So glad they're on the east side!

Drive thru Q!!!!! Smokin' Barrel is doing it right. The staff is friendly, helpful and fast!!! The brisket is high quality, flavorful, smoked to perfection and has an amazing crust!!! Rib tips are meaty and you guessed it-smokey, moist and perfectly crusted!!! The sides are better than yo momma makes. Go with the Mac & Cheese and Corn Casserole- both are amazing!!! Get there early, they sell out because it's that good!

Last Saturday I stopped,and ordered a half rack of ribs,mac & cheese,and baked beans.The half rack is supposed to be 6 bones,I only got 4 bones,and an end piece with 2 bites on it.The pasta was way over cooked,and after being in the fridge,it turned into a brick of pasta,unedible.The baked beans were right out of can with no onions,chopped meat,seasonings etc.The bill came to 37 bucks.I have been many times before,and it has been great.I won't order these items anymore.I will stay with the rib tips,brisket,pulled pork,and banana pudding.

10/10 bbq. My husband and I were so lucky to get them to cater our wedding, we couldn't have been happier with not only the quality of food but also service! Everyone at our wedding said this was the BEST food they've ever had at a wedding. Naturally we had left overs as guests fall through last minute but we ate every bit of them! Can't rave about them enough!

Love the brisket! Great place to grab some to go grub. You can save a dollar or two paying cash as well. Looking forward to more BBQ soon!

Our weekly go-to for a bbq spot; online ordering and drive-thru pickup for an easy weeknight or weekend dinner. The Mac& cheese is to die for and the green beans are truly the best. We had this local family owned business cater a birthday party and they knocked it out of the park. All of our guests raved about the food and the quality of the meats and sides.

This place is absolutely amazing! I kind of hate putting a ton of BBQ sauce on my pork or brisket and the meat here is so tender that I definitely didn't need to because there was no dryness to compensate for! Totally recommend!

My family and I tried Smokin' Barrel BBQ for the first time today. We tried the pulled pork dinner and the brisket tacos. OMG!!! The pulled pork was very tender and flavorful. The green beans were the best green beans we have ever had at a BBQ restaurant and the mac n cheese was creamy. Now, the brisket tacos was a very nice surprise. The smoked brisket was tender and very flavorful. We found our new BBQ joint!!!

In the mood for some quick bbq? This is the place to go. Worth the money IMO. I'd you first see them on Doordash/Grubhub and you're doing a pickup order, go to their website instead so you don't end up over paying.( on those apps they charge more) we got the tips, brisket, and pulled pork to try and they were all good and not dry tasting. They put in a banana pudding for me for free which was nice. Tastes good and not too sweet or bidder

I discovered this restaurant via GrubHub, in my search for new barbecue experiences, and wow was I ever glad I did. My first encounter with them was through delivery food, and their barbecue brisket sandwich is phenomenal. For $10 (or $13 via GrubHub) you get enough meat for two or three "normal" sandwiches...and a tiny little bun to cram it into. (You may want to have one of your own buns or a couple of slices of bread handy so that you can make up a second sandwich.) There's only one tub of barbecue sauce, which may not be enough for the amount of meat, so you might wish to request extra sauce when you order. The meat is tender and juicy, marbled with succulent fat, and has a very tasty barbecue sauce with it. The sandwich just comes with a bag of chips, but that's fine; the sandwich is what you're there for. The "meat fight" sandwich was good, too. I honestly haven't tried much else of what they offer, given that I'm a huge fan of beef brisket, and the brisket was so good I didn't want to give it up for something else. If you can, I would suggest ordering for pickup or carry-out, rather than going via GrubHub; in order to cover the chunk of revenue GrubHub extracts from orders, the GrubHub prices are about 30% more expensive. Smokin' Barrel uses the Camp Sertoma building and facilities to operate its service, which means its "drive-through" is actually just the circle drive at the main building's entrance; when you drive up, an employee will come out to take your order with a hand-held card reading gadget. Then you can pull ahead and park out of the way (or sit down on a convenient bench if you walked or biked up), and they'll bring it out to you in a few minutes. One nice aspect of this is that, since it's not a traditional drive-through window setup, the restaurant doesn't have any reason to refuse to accept walk-up or bicycle customers. If you're wanting to eat it there, there are some picnic tables outside, or in the Sertoma pavilion if it's open. Otherwise, you'll have to just take it home. Minor drawbacks: they don't seem to carry baked beans, which are my favorite barbecue side dish. But the meat is good enough that I'll forgive them. Also, I wish they were open more days of the week than just Thursday through Saturday. But if you're hungry for barbecue when they're open, my personal slogan applies: OMG, BBQ FTW.

This is some seriously good barbecue. It's only about 10 minutes from our house and I have no excuse for not trying it a long time ago. Good quality meat done right. The seasoning and smoke are well balanced and the sides are great too. Don't know what the dine in is like, we did carry out to reheat for dinner.

Great pulled pork; Not greasy and great flavor! We got 3-4 pounds and it fed a crew of 5 for a couple meals.

Love the BBQ and most of the sides. Some of them have some different spice combinations I'm not used to, but overall we enjoy the food. Great to order ahead and just drive up and they bring it out to you! Very good service experience when we asked to correct an order with errors one time. Order early if you want brisket. They often run out. We order early and set a pick up time to meet our needs. Definitely recommend.

I ordered the pork belly taco. The taste was super-fantastic. My sides were green beans and slaw. The slaw was not to my liking and is the reason for the loss of one star in the rating.

This place is not fancy but the food is delicious. I would recommend to anyone who loves good food and bbq. I will be back soon. Love it

Great service, large dining hall, and best of all... AMAZING FOOD! The prices are reasonable and I'm very impressed with the temperature, quality, and taste of the food. Definitely the best brisket I've ever had! The bark and the fat just melt beautifully into your mouth for a dream like experience. The tacos on Friday are delicious. Will definitely be going back. We had a large party of about 10 people. We ALL left raving and oh so satisfied Could only recommend they get a non-carbonated beverage besides water for little kids to enjoy.

We actually had the bbq meal at a catered event. The food was delicious and just as notable was how the owners warmly and enthusiastically greeted each person as they stopped by to get a plate of food.

They function primarily for pick-up, but they did have plenty of seating in what appeared to be a bingo hall, and that worked just fine for me!
