I've been a customer of Smoothie King (at different locations) for years and I was taken aback by the treatment I experienced today. When factors out of the customer's control occur, it is courteous to at least consider potential solutions to the problem. The online payment feature was not working and I called to place an order via phone as I was 10 minutes away. The manager's tone was as if I was inconveniencing them just by simply calling and they refused to accept the order. When I arrived, I expressed my disappointment because the issue regarding the website was beyond our control. They reiterated that they do not accept orders over the phone and it's a company policy. I responded by informing them that I've placed phone orders at other locations in the past. They responded "well, I'm the manager. I would think I know the rules." I said "I didn't say you didn't know the rules..." and they cut me off before I could finish my statement. They continued to be defensive and I just let it go. I almost walked out, but I just decided this will be my last time purchasing anything from this location.
