Google
Great place. And the view of NYC makes it so much better in the evening. The food is really good and delicious! They also had adult beverages and an area for children to play.

This is a great place for happy hour and after work hang out. The view is amazing, drinks are awesome and the service is great.

Google
This is our go to waterfront spot for an afternoon / early evening drink. We love the views, there’s always music and the bar staff is friendly. Prices on par for the waterfront. I prefer going during the week when it isn’t as busy but food options are limited. Saturdays (when smorgasburg is in the parking lot) has great food options but it also means it’s packed! They have a few games (like corn hole) and a variety of shaded and sunny seating.

Been here multiple times but it was my first for the 4th of July Fireworks. Food and drinks are solid especially for the prices, great views for the fireworks as well but overall any time in general day or night of NYC skyline. Can’t go wrong coming here on a date/family outing or with friends. Chill place, pet friendly, good vibes, music and games. The food vendors, bartenders and even the ones at the entrance are all extremely friendly. Highly recommended this place.

Google
Not a typical beer garden or a bar. It's all self service. Best part of this place is the view and ambience. But at the same time, there are not enough seatings to accommodate the crowd. It's a chairs game running. Also food and beer options are not much great. If you are looking to relax with a glass of beer, then this is not your place. But if you are planning to have a fun time with your friends, then it may be worth. Positives- Lower Manhattan view, Open Air, Amazing Sun set view, Location,Clean toilets. Negatives- Food and beer options, not enough seatings, over crowded.

Google
A very cool place to drink by the water overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The drinks selection was very good and so were the drinks themselves. We had a Caiprinha and Pink Lemonade and both were good

Google
A cool place to chill. Atmosphere is nice. You can go after work to meet up with coworker or friends. It has a grassy lawn or in the dirt side has table and chairs or it had patio furniture. They do smoke because it's an outside area. Some guest brought their kids and they're were a few dogs.

Google
Super cute place! They’ve got some fun games and an amazing view. My only cons are that bathrooms are kind of far away (it’s not that bad) and that there are enough garbage cans on one side, but not the other. Given that you have to walk all the way to the entrance to dispose of your garbage, is a bit annoying give. That you also need to pick up your own drinks. If neither of these is an issue, this will be the perfect place to you! Easy going, quick, and great views. Enjoy!!!! :)

Yelp
AWESOME SERVICE AWESOME FOOD AWESOME SRINKS AMAZING VIEW Been trying to visit this place for a while now , decided to stop by today since the weather was nice . I love the fact that they have a very specific menu , their brisket tacos are awesome , we also had the pizza and frozen guava margaritas .. very cool place , plenty of space and a great view . The staff is very helpful and friendly everywhere , I needed help morning an umbrella and someone came right the way . Fun atmosphere , definitely will go back

Yelp
This is a cute spot to grab a bite to eat outdoors in Jersey city. Food and drinks are brought out very quickly because of the food truck type set up and prices are reasonable for Jersey city. The bathrooms are in trailers so keep that in mind if you can't do steps. We also got the nachos which I didn't even get to take a picture of because we dug into them so quickly. I highly recommend trying them. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Awesome spot to come grab some drinks, food, and enjoy the view. We were here early on a weekday afternoon and this place was mostly empty. They have happy hour which we definitely took advantage of. Self serve only, get your own food and drinks and find your own spot to sit. The view really can't be beat! And it's quiet beautiful! Plenty of seating as well We will be back!!

Yelp
I'll keep this one short: - Drinks: Good for beers and basic cocktails, but expensive by area standards - Food: Good tacos (per non-veg friends), nice pizza's and other finger food Service is usually decent, can be sloppy if crowded. The maintenance guys are occasionally rude, but good most of the time. Ambiance is one of the best out there, due to location and view!! Sad that the place is barely open 3 months a year and that too barely upto 10PM.

Vicky L.

Yelp
Great outdoor bar with views of Lower Manhattan! Lots of seating! I love the frozen drinks and the food here. You can't go wrong with Carlitos or the pizza spot. Lots of seating here - try to get some shade of it's a good day though!! No table service, just buy everything when you come in and bring it to your table! Love this spot! Great for after work hh or bringing your kids on the weekend to hang out with friends.

Nadia A.

Yelp
Went on opening day of the season and luckily it was a beautiful day to be here and enjoy the views and a nice drink. I loved the vibe, the views and plenty of seating just have to scout for some but people are coming and going at this place. The bar line was pretty long but moved fast, didn't get to try any of the food vendors but plan on it next time when I stay longer. I can't wait for my first summer season here in Jersey!

Yelp
We had our second corporate event at Smorgasbar and it was a success! Everyone got two free tacos and open bar for two hours. I liked that this was an outdoor bar since it felt more open to move freely around (without bumping into people), had a great view of NYC in the back, and there were quite a ton of places attendees can sit or stand around without feeling too packed in (which is the issue with most corporate bar events). The staff was AMAZING, super nice to work with and I believe everyone who attended had a blast at Smorgasbar! FYI - There are games like corn hole to play here and some picnic tables closer to the water. Bathrooms are close by in a white mobile parked in the parking lot area! Definitely coming back with my friends to show them this bar and the delicious, soft, and juicy brisket tacos they make!! I could literally eat 10 of those in one sitting, so yummy!

Yelp
The cutest place for a casual hangout with friends and family! I absolutely love that it's by the water, it's kid AND dog friendly, the drinks taste great and has pretty views of the NYC skyline. My husband and I had a day date out in Jersey City just getting lost and Smorgasbar was by far my favorite spot we stopped at. He got a Chelitas beer and I got 2 mojitos, mango and passionfruit. The first drink I got (the passionfruit) was AMAZING, but when I went back for the mango, I had a different server and the mango was a total miss. It didn't taste terrible, but definitely didn't taste anything like a mojito (reasoning for a docked star). For food, we got the brisket nachos and it was both filling and delicious with plenty of meat. I'd love to bring our kiddos back for an afternoon.

Yelp
Smorgasbar has a lot going for it. Nice seating area, good strong (expensive) drinks, but the maintenance workers failed us tonight. It says that they're open until 10PM. We came at 845, no food. Strike 1. Had great drinks and enjoyed the scenery on the water. At 930pm we were about to leave. When we got to the mobile bathroom setup the staff locked it quickly as my wife and I approached. The lead maintenance guy justified it in Spanish as "we're closing early." We walked over 15 minutes before we found the next bathroom. Strike +3. UNACCEPTABLE. Posted hours and open bathrooms for patrons needing relief is basic business practice. We will not be back.

Jenn P.

Yelp
Atmosphere is lovely. View is amazing. Food selection is limited, but drinks are diverse! Lots and lots of toddlers and running kids at 5pm on a Saturday.

Wen-Ju C.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to this establishment. It was recommended by a colleague. I ordered a blackberry mojito and it was terrible. I couldn't finish the drink. My colleagues tried it and they agreed the drink was bad. It was watery and plain. However, the view of the skyline was nice with many outdoor seating options.

Yelp
Formerly the overpriced Lutz Biergarten, Smorgasbar now provides reasonably priced and delicious tacos and pizzas, with a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Wonderful views of the Hudson River and Manhattan beyond, with lots of tables and seats in a variety of sections.

Kylie N.

Yelp
What an awesome experience at Smorgasbar! I visited The Lutze, which was the prior establishment, and I did not like it as much as I like Smorgasbar. The look is the same. Very colorful and open. Beautiful view of the NY skyline. I also like the Adirondack chairs but be sure to get there earlier to get those seats or wait on the side until people leave. I really enjoyed my Passionfruit Mojito. Sooo delicious. The Passionfruit Margarita was also good, even though I don't like tequila. For food I tried out the chicken, pulled pork, and brisket tacos. I was excited because they're supposedly cooked for 14 hours with barbecue in it. I was pretty let down. The taste was bland on all of them. The chicken was probably the most flavorful. It was the meats that were bland for sure. The sauces they put on it was good. I also tried the small Margherita pie and the garlic knots and I absolutely loved it!! Definitely go for that when you visit. Cost is pretty pricey though... Overall it was a nice spot to go and chill and have drinks with a nice view.

Yelp
Came here for drinks and the view! Cool place to hangout and the service is good. The pizza was yummy, we got margarita pizza. Come here at sunset for a nice view of the city. Great place for families as well, can sit on the lawn for a great view. It's right by the water.

Ally H.

Yelp
Great outdoor seating area, delicious tacos, and drinks - what more could you ask for? Additionally, they have a great weekday happy hour. Beers are $5, canned wine/cocktails are $6, and delicious margaritas are $7! Additionally, Carlitos Tacos has great nachos, fresh corn tortilla tacos, and chips and guac. The Quesatacos are amazing, and we highly recommend the pulled pork! The views of the New York skyline are gorgeous, and it's fun to have seating right by the river! There is a ton of shade and lots of seating so it's easy to find the perfect spot.

Masumi T.

Yelp
Great tacos. Crunchy mushroom tacquilla was delicious. it had a nice crispy outer layer. Fish was good too but would have been better reheated and crispy (especially since the menu said crispy fish). Mango Agua Fresca was not too sweet and delicious. I really like the taco shell here which I found to be tasty with some texture. The corn was good but average. Next time I would double up on the mushroom, mango aqua fresca and maybe try something new.

James H.

Yelp
Good happy hour specials. The view and chill is the sell here. When the food fair is on you can bring the food in, but you can't take a beer out to the fair/parking lot

David K.

Yelp
This is a great feature of the Jersey City waterfront that is worth a stop in the summer. The area is spacious and dog-friendly, with a good selection of draft beers and other drinks. The area boasts great views of lower Manhattan and has plentiful shade during hot days. The taco shack on site is both pricey and mediocre, however. The nachos are a bit heavy and good but not great, and the tacos themselves are forgettable. There are other options like pizza on site that looked more promising. The bathrooms are in a trailer outside of the site, which may be a bit difficult to find for people unaccustomed to the space.

Dena H.

Yelp
If you are near jersey city you need to try this area! Super cute spot with food trucks and a beer/wine/cocktail truck. I had one of the best tacos. I ordered the brisket tacos and my friend ordered fish tacos and both were absolutely amazing! We also ordered nachos to share which was super filling. Along with dinner we ordered some drinks and enjoyed the views of the Hudson and NYC skyline. Highly recommend coming here!

Yelp
My sister and I love attending Smorgasburg for the vendors and were excited to stop by Smorgasbar for some local food and drinks! We arrived on a Sunday around 4PM and it was a great time to be there because it was not too crowded and there were open seats available. The location is outside and has beautiful views of the NYC skyline, friendly & helpful staff, and good music. When we stopped by, the vendors that were serving were San Giuseppe and Carlitos- along with Smorgasbar's fully stocked bar. We were hungry so we decided to try out both spots and have a drink alongside our meals! FOOD & DRINKS + RATINGS: Carlitos- Sweet Plantain Tacos: 4/5 Side of chips, salsa, and guacamole: 4/5 San Giuseppe- Plain Pizza: 4/5 Mozzarella Sticks: 4.5/5 Frozen Passionfruit Margarita: 5/5 Frozen Guava Margarita: 4/5 _____ Starting with Carlitos, the sweet plantain tacos were presented on homemade tortillas with guacamole & cheese and were delicious! A great meatless option that comes with two tacos. The side of chips, guac and salsa are perfect for sharing and were a great addition with the tacos. The chips were crunch & sturdy, the salsa had a nice spice and the guacamole was simple and flavorful. I would recommend stopping by Carlitos whether its at Smorgasburg or Smorgasbar! Moving onto San Giuseppe, they have an open brick oven where they cook your pizza right there for you. We went with the plain pizza and it came out pipping hot with loads of cheese! The pizza was pretty good and tasted even better with some red pepper flakes and extra Italian seasoning. Their mozzarella sticks were also solid and had an amazing cheese pull! Lastly, the bar at Smorgasbar has a nice selection of alcohol that were perfect for a warm day outside. The Frozen Passionfruit Margarita was amazing and I highly recommend if you're in need of a refreshing drink! It wasn't too sweet and the Passionfruit added a tasty tropical flavor. The Frozen Guava Margarita was also good, so definitely go with that if you prefer guava! Overall, I had an excellent experience at Smorgasbar and will definitely be stopping by again for a date night. Definitely check it out if you're ever in the area!

Michelle T.

Yelp
Met a friend for HH on a Tuesday evening and we had a great time. Drinks are ~half off during that time. I had a frozen guava margarita and she had a frozen passionfruit margarita. Both were very good. We also grabbed some chips & guac to share and I had 2 quesotacos and she had 3. I really loved the plantain one and liked it more than the brisket taco. Both were very good, but I would definitely get 2 of the plantain tacos next time! We were able to find seating out by the water on the big chairs and talked for a few hours. There are staff who come by to clean up the space every once in a while, so we didn't have to take care of our own trash.

Nikki L.

Yelp
Cool spot for an outdoor hang, especially with dogs. Good food vendors and drinks. Casual and great views on the water.

Brice P.

Yelp
Just opened! The local-ish beers on tap are plentiful. Carlitos Tacos were great - they were making the tortillas in back. Prices were just ok. Two cocktails were $26. Beers were $7-$8 on average.

Taylor V.

Yelp
I love this place! I really, really, do! The food is awesome, the drinks were great and you really can't beat the view. Everyone at our corporate happy hour had an excellent time and we'll probably end up going back. But we saw a couple rats. Not one... but a couple. I get it, it's an outdoor venue, in a city. I'm sure it's difficult to control. If the smell wasn't so bad I probably wouldn't be writing this. But it was windy and we were outside and it still smelled pretty awful. I hope they figure it out!

Riya M.

Yelp
I have been to Smorgasbar multiple times in the past 2 years and have had really good experiences. It is in the perfect location to grab drinks and some food outdoors with a perfect view of the NYC Skyline and good music so I definitely recommend visiting. We ordered nachos, chicken tacos, mango mojitos, and a passion fruit margarita. I would have to say the nachos were okay, but you can tell the chicken was not warm because none of the cheese had melted. I wish the cheese was melted so all the toppings wouldn't keep falling off the chips. It was really difficult to eat. The tacos were probably the best thing we ordered, with a little added kick but definitely tasty. The drinks on the other hand were not good at all which I was super surprised about. Normally, I have had great experiences with their drinks and they have always been a hit. But this time they tasted either super strong or super watered down and it was a bit weird watching the bartender pour our drinks into cups, noticing the cup wasn't full, and filling the rest with club soda. This completely watered down our drinks and you could barely taste the mango flavor in the mojito. My friend's mojito was overpowered by mint, which I was surprised because I actually love mint. But the entire drink was a strong mint flavor and no taste of mango so that was really a bummer for the price too. The margarita was much better however. I will say I don't think this experience was a good representation of all my previous times visiting Smorgasbar. Potentially it may have just been a new bartender, because their mango mojitos have always been my favorite choice of drink here and prior to this I have never really been disappointed. As they have just recently opened, I will definitely be returning this summer in hopes of this being hopefully just one mediocre experience.

Yelp
Great spot for drinks, some food, and a nice view of NYC. If you're looking for a nice place to view Manhattan from (specifically towards WTC), then Smorgasbar is the place. Right next to the Hudson, there are a bunch of lawn chairs, tables, and seats scattered around the place for you to sit back and relax. The best experience is sitting there and watching the sunset, with the orange glow reflecting off buildings. When you enter the place, you get to buy either drink (left side) or food (right side). I highly recommend their Happy Hour special, and their cocktail section, my personal favorite is the Smoky and Spicy Magarita. They got a couple of draft beers and a bunch of flavorful mojitos or margaritas. Food-wise, the tacos aren't bad, definitely recommend the fish and chicken tacos. On the weekend, food trucks come by and park right outside, so you can come and chill and dine on what's around you. If it's a nice summer day, I highly recommend you come by the Smorgasbar! P.S. Very dog friendly.

Cookie C.

Yelp
One of our favorite bar that you can bring your fur baby with a stunning view for relaxing.

Nupur B.

Yelp
Have been here twice now and love hanging out at Smorgasbar in Jersey city. Great drinks and a superb spot to chill out with friends after work or on a weekend. Their guava Margarita is quite delicious. They have all the usual drinks that you would see at a Beer Garden. Tacos at Carlitos are mouthwatering (I am salivating thinking about the smoky, flavorful pork tacos! ) Crepes are not that great but the location, drinks, great staff and other food options make up for the subpar crepes. We will definitely continue to go there for drinks, tacos and try pizza next !!

Gerald N.

Yelp
Fun place to go with friends and plenty of drinks to go around! They mostly serve beer but they have a good selection. They have margaritas and nonalcoholic drinks as well. They even have food in the area so you don't have to go anywhere else. The views are simply amazing from this viewpoint. I highly recommend visiting this bar at least once! You will not be disappointed.

Jin Joo L.

Yelp
The place is a great place to enjoy food and drinks with a view. It is self-serve. Drinks are available in one stand and food in another, so you will need to make two purchases of you plan to have any alcoholic drinks. The food was quite good! The frozen margarita I had was really good for a hot day and it's great that we could bring our dog to the patio. Dogs are not allowed on the grassy lawn. I tried the nachos while my husband and friend has some tacos. The nachos were a good portion with an adequate amount of meat. It is perhaps slightly priced higher but hey, it's the atmosphere and views I think we're paying for. If I'm craving tacos I might have to come here because they are much better than some of the other places we've tried while also less crowded. The tables were overall kept pretty clean and no trash laying around. Honestly, I wish there were more places like this on the boardwalk.

Sandi E.

Yelp
What a neighborhood gem! So much more enjoyable under new management!! You can actually have a conversation with friends and the staff is friendly. The location is superb and it's a great place to meet friends or hang out after work. Great place to enjoy waterfront and city views.

Francis R.

Yelp
Great place to chill with friends when the weather is nice! Great view and the prices aren't terrible (though they could be a bit fairer)

Patricia J.

Yelp
I went to this place out of curiosity and I'm so glad I did. I went early on Labor Day 1:00pm. The place is nice lovely colorful clean ( the portable bathroom outside the enclosed area is extremely clean) Their staff is friendly and the food is good The seating area under the tree shade has an spectacular view. Definitely a place to go back

Nikki H.

Yelp
This place was nice for a group, expensive drinks but they were good. The security guards (august 15) ruined my experience. They were so creepy asking me if I had a boyfriend and why he wasn't there with me, and then commented on my body. I rushed in to meet up with friends because I was uncomfortable. Then left to use the restroom twice and both times overheard them doing the same thing to other women who were walking in. So disgusting and unprofessional

Jersey City O.

Yelp
Nothing like lutze, has big shoes to fill. We were very disappointed thinking it would be like lutze or every bring the same joy smorgasburg does. Food here was also garbage. How do you have pizza and garlic knots but no marinara for the knots. Hopefully it gets better
