The Most Exciting Atlanta Pop-Ups Right Now | Eater Atlanta

"Merging the comfort foods of Japan and the South, this Smorgasburg standout turns out a pork katsu sandwich on potato bread and fried chicken in both classic buttermilk-breaded and karaage styles; pair it with a classic like macaroni salad and you’ve got a meal giving Mary Mac’s a run for its money." - Caroline Eubanks

Major Food Events Around Atlanta This Summer | Eater Atlanta

"Beginning this October, an open-air food festival will run year-round every Saturday in South Downtown at 140 Forsyth Street SW, featuring more than 40 food vendors weekly including pop-ups, food trucks, bars, and artists; vendor applications are open now. Originating in New York in 2011 as an incubator space for up-and-coming culinary talent, the festival’s co-owner and CEO said: “Smorgasburg has always been about discovering and championing the most exciting emerging culinary voices,” and added, “When we looked at where to expand next, Atlanta stood out immediately — there’s a dynamic and thriving pop-up food scene here that’s deeply rooted in creativity, community, and cultural pride.” Regarding the South Downtown location, April Stammel of South Downtown said: “Atlanta is such a food-loving city, and the experience Smorgasburg will bring to South Downtown is going to be unlike anything else that exists here in Atlanta.”" - Henna Bakshi

Loved the food variety at Smorgasburg Atlanta — so many great flavors and vendors, all reasonably priced. The vibe was fun, the crowd felt safe, and being able to walk from my apartment was a bonus. Only gripe: too many vendors using POS systems that prompt for tips when service is basically self-serve. It takes away from an otherwise great experience. The food shines — the tip culture doesn’t.

We really enjoyed our time here! It’s super easy to get to and has plentiful parking and transit nearby. The food options are all solid. We went for the MINI event, and I thought it was really well done and cute. I do think they’ll have to rethink the seating and lack of shade in the summer because that lot is going to get so hot in the sun. Otherwise, I can easily see this as a place we will regularly come back to!

Went for the opening weekend and it was a great time! Lots of variety of foods, tons of booths, a DJ keeping the vibes chill. The vendors give out full portions, so I would say definitely go with friends so you can share items and try a wider variety. Or go multiple weeks if you have a lot of spots you want to try. They have bars on site, portable bathrooms available, and paid parking across the street. To give some critique I would say they should provide more shaded areas for guests, but I'm sure as it gets further into fall it will be less of an issue. Additionally a few vendors had very long lines, but for me there were enough vendors that I was able to avoid the lines and still find plenty of things that I wanted to try.

Such an amazing time! Will be coming here every week if I can - great people, great vendors, and great vibes. It’s an awesome tasting tour of the Atlanta food scene. Would recommend to anyone visiting too - fun for tourists but also a real local gem.

Smorgasburg ATL is seriously the best thing to do on the weekend. The food is unreal, the vibe is electric, and it’s awesome to have all of the real local vendors in one plan. If you haven’t been yet, go - and go hungry.
