"Snafu Brewing went all in on sour beer, and it is paying off. Located in North Charleston, Snafu has one of the biggest sour lists in Charleston and has developed quite a cult following both locally and statewide. Sours dominate the tap line with options like Blueberry Cobbler Milkshake sour and Snafu-Tang and only a few other non-sour options. Don’t shy away from Snafu — there is a sour for everyone." - Barbara Skidmore

Love finally having a brewery that has a wide variety of sours available! All were very unique and delicious. Even better that they offer flights so you can try out a bit of everything if you want. Excited to go back!

I've been dying to goto the brewery since I'm obsessed with keepin it teal, and today was able to go and try all of the other great beers they have. Sara Z was awesome we enjoyed talking to her!! She made great suggestions. Can't wait to go back!!

This is really cool place to hang out with friends! They have such interesting brews and the concept that is comfortable. The staff is very nice and will help you select the right drinks for your taste pallet. I tried as many as I could handle and had an amazing cheesesteak that I was not expecting from a brewery. Matter of fact... Im actually thinking about that cheesesteak now... I may be back sooner than I originally expected. Please take gander at my photos

I’ve been waiting to finally have the chance to get to this brewery thanks to their Instagram for giving be daily fomo. Well…I finally made it! I believe I had 8 different sours… which is absolutely unheard of at any other brewery, most were great, others were just good, but overall what a fantastic little brewery. The brews are on the sweet side, so prepare for a bit of a sugar rush. At the end I left with a great experience and a 4pack of my favorite. While I was there on a Sunday afternoon, there was also a trivia game going on. Worth the trip, and if I’m ever back in the area, it’s a must stop to try any and everything that’s new.

Google
Solid smaller brewery. If you like sours at all this is a great place to try several variations from sour to sweet. Their cinnamon stout and golden ale were also very good. This isn't a place to go and have dinner but a place to grab a beer, sit back and relax or play one of the many game options they have available from board games to ping pong and several different video gaming consoles set up free to use. When I went there wasn't any kids but it was kinda late on a school night so there's that. They also have a weekly schedule of happenings at the brewery. Beertender was helpful and friendly. They have crowlers and beers to go which is always nice. If you're already up in North Charleston or especially like sour beers then this is a solid go to!

Google
Wonderful hidden gem in the cut. Nice airy and open brewery. Tried several sours ,all were delicious. Keepin' it Teal, Sic em and Banana pudding sours are soooooo delicious. Definitely recommend. You can have a drink at the bar or purchase to go in a can. The service is top shelf and very knowledgeable and helpful.

Google
Went in for a short time to beat the traffic but ended up really enjoying the experience there. The bar tender was great. She had awesome recommendations and was very helpful with the selection. There is board games, ping pong, and arcade games.pet friendly inside and out as long as your little one is well behaved. Decent amount of parking. They have different events throughout the week. Crowlers for to go. Definitely will come back

I absolutely love this brewery! The beers are fantastic, especially if you are a fan of sours and something fruity, though they do some pretty good stouts and IPAs too. No frills brewery and taproom with great vibes, made so by the amazing owners and unbelievable bar staff (especially the truly exceptional head bartender). They book lots of excellent food trucks and vendors to come out, and while I haven't lucked out to be there for a truck cancelation, have actually sprung for some pizza to fill the void of those last minute cancelations. Snafu has become one of my favorite places to chill in the Charleston area and I look forward to each visit and every new release (and my old favorites).

Yelp
Snafu has a wide selection of fun sours, with a few stouts. Their menu of drinks changes every month. The service is always fast and friendly. They are also willing to help you find your drink of choice. The building is also their brewery. It's very open with plenty of space. The greatest downside is that the building is subjected to the outside weather. If it's warm outside it's quite warm inside.

Alyson K.

Yelp
To start... Sarah was absolutely amazing during this experience. My boyfriend and I drove down for the day to explore the city... we went straight from Myrtle beach to Snafu! I love love love sours and both of us working in the service industry, seeing the Charleston way was so fun! The selection of sours was amazing and of course I got to create my own flights, as well as, experience some of the holiday flights! My boyfriend was a fan of the hazy IPA! The snack selection was also on point and talking with Sarah allowed us to start our day off amazingly! Can't wait to visit again!

Chrissy F.

Yelp
I finally got around to trying one of the many unique creations of Snafu!!! My boyfriend surprised me with the limited edition butterbeer flavor and it was mega unique! He got some other ones like cotton candy which I'm curious to try! Made for a nice surprise for the first day term starting at Hogwarts. Cheers to the beloved -ber months!

Jeff R.

Yelp
Beer selection is one of the best in Charleston. If you like sours, you can never go wrong here. The dark beers are outstanding too. The selection is forever changing so I won't name specific beers but I will tell you, I've never had a bad one. Inside is fairly large with quite a few tables. If it's the right weather, there are many picnic tables outside. If you enjoy craft brews, this is a must.

Dahlia S.

Yelp
This place was so chill and quiet and relaxing. Lots of sours which are my personal favorite types of beers. There's foosball tables and table tennis tables. Theres also I'm assuming, the owners dog or an employees dog. Super friendly but he started to get annoying. He kept coming over to my dog and would hump him. After the third time my dog got fed up and irritated. Which is understandable. Didn't seem like anyone who worked there was keeping an eye on him. Although there was another dog but the brewery dog wouldn't bother him. So maybe it's just my dog he had a lot of interest in. Definitely coming back but either without my dog or just make sure the brewery dog doesn't get close. Overall, chill place for a low key hang out.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Great time playing music bingo but they had no AC and that was brutal! They had no ice water either bud did provide fans.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
As a lover of sour beer and discovering how close Snafu is to my house, I'll be checking in a lot more often. Known for their large sour list (usually 12-16 on tap at a time) they do also offer up 6-7 non-sours. I've gotten a flight both visits and enjoyed each and every sour beer I've tried. The Blueberry crumble and Teal Cotton Candy have become my two favorites. The price of the flight is around $15 so after tip it's cost $20 a visit. And very much worth it!!! Located in an Industrial area of North Charleston the old car shop now brewery is spacious inside and has picnic tables set up outside for additional seating. During both my visits they've had food trucks for food to enjoy there or take with you to-go. Each time I've been there only one bartender has been on duty and they've always been super nice. Knowledgeable about the beer and great music playing. If you find yourself in the area during the late afternoon (be sure to check their daily hours) drop in for a chill brewery experience.

Yelp
We visited on Easter in the afternoon, as you can see from the photos it was a very quiet day for the brewery. The bartender was very kind and helpful as this was my first time trying their brews. I really enjoyed the selection of sours they had to offer and opted for a flight. All 4 were really fantastic! My favorite was definitely the fluffermelon, it was perfectly tart with a great vanilla tone! The bubblegum was also super interesting and tasted exactly like Hubba Bubba! The brewery has lots of board games to choose from and a couple arcade games. We played jenga while we sipped. It was a little chilly on the day we visited but they do have heaters. Prices are very reasonable, definitely a great place to check out if you love sours or more unique beers!

Jessica B.

Yelp
I never have a bad time at Snafu. They have my favorite sours in Charleston. The food trucks are always great, the events are fun and the company is always a good time. My only complaint is how incredibly cold it gets in there during winter months. And hot in the summer. Totally get it, being a warehouse somewhat, but would love if they got temperature control.

Dashena B.

Yelp
Stood at the counter for about 10mins and that's me being gracious with no service. After watching 5 other customers be serviced I asked if there was a particular area to place orders. The young lady informed me that I could slide down and I can place my order. The couple behind me slide down first and realized I had been waiting to order and offered to let me go first. The bartender told them don't worry about it since they moved to the area first. I'm not a fan of beer but decided to try it out but after my experience here I wouldn't step foot on the premises again! I would hate to think the non existent service I recieved was due to the color of my skin but the rudeness of the bartender seems to hint at that. Postive, the black owned SmashBurger food truck "The Lane" was a plus! I'll assume it's employee specific behavior and not a reflection of the business owner.

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Good little brewery. Seating choices were bar, tables or comfy couches to view your favorite TV program. Make yourself comfortable! Many choices of brewed beverages. Just place your order at the bar and ORDER UP! We ordered 3 flights to sample the Sour menu. All time favorite was Blue Raspberry. Our first taste of SNAFU was at O'Brions on James Island. STRAWBERRY YUMMY. I can't remember everything we ordered but def #1 was the Blue Raspberry . They do have drafts available as well as specialty beers. Plenty of parking. Different food trucks rotate different days. Check there website or call to see what trucks are there. Nice relaxing Sunday afternoon. Set a spell. Y'all come back now hear!!

Briana T.

Yelp
A great hole in the wall brewery in North Charleston! My husband and I like to come here for an easy drinking beer and a chill date night. It's in a warehouse with some outdoor seating, so be sure to check the weather before staying a while! They do not have a kitchen or snacks, but feel free to bring your own- or they are very good with having food trucks in the evenings as well. They are known for their sours and always have a ton of options so if that's up your alley, then this place is for you! They usually have great pale ale/IPA options as well if you aren't a sour fan. The service is great and they sometimes throw in a bingo or trivia night which is always super fun too! They have some great games, ping pong tables, and a tv and is also dog and kid friendly.

Debi M.

Yelp
Great brews! Inside temps hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Have fans but little circulation. Staff at bar must be very uncomfortable. Only 1 restroom available for customers at times you need to wait a bit

Taleen V.

Yelp
What a fun place. Lots of things for the kids to do.. the food they had (Philly Cheesesteak) was very good and reasonably priced. Tucked away and off the beaten path you won't regret going. Very relaxing and some interesting beers.

Anna L.

Yelp
I am surprised I have not left a review for Snafu already this is one of my top 3 favorite local breweries here and the one I frequent the most. I have tried several sours from several breweries over the course of 10+ years and Snafu is the one that FINALLY converted me to being a sour fan! They have non-sours as well but like why? Bananakin Walker is my HANDS down ABSOLUTE favorite! They have a rotating menu so I always like to try what's in season. Grab a card and do a flight!

Jennifer J.

Yelp
A great, dog-friendly option for Sour lovers! It was honestly impressive to see almost 16 sours on the menu!

Doug N.

Yelp
This place is a must for fans of sour beer. Their other beers are also delicious. Very chill vibe Brewery. I always tell people if they don't usually like sour beers to give Snafu a shot anyway.

John C.

Yelp
Snafu is a great brewery in north charleston, close to where the old frothy beard used to be. They specialize in sour beers, which is nice for the summer and hot weather months. Their space is nice and open, with games, books, TVs and plenty of places to bring your own dinner and hang with friends. They have food trucks out there some times, not sure the schedule, but the burger one we got while we were there was pretty tasty. Definitely recommend. Some of the sours are a bit... chunky? and have a lot of pulp in them. The flavors are all over the place, and maybe they're still trying to find their mojo, but its a great place to try something new and they seem to love what they do!

Christy M.

Yelp
I stopped in to grab some to go drinks and was so thrilled to see alllllll the sours. Maureen was super knowledgeable and easy to chat with about all things brewing. I ended up going home with 3 crowlers after trying a bunch of different ones. I could've taken a bunch but decided on the strawberry milkshake, the guava milkshake, and the Pina colada one. Sooo many yummy ones, I can't wait to go back and see what new things they come up with! I kind of regret not bringing home the Moscow mule one . Fun chill place to try different drinks!

Amy B.

Yelp
Good evening, We just drove up to your brewery from Charleston to try your beers. We were so excited as we are huge lovers of sours. However, the blond female bartender was so rude and nasty to us (really a bi@tch). That we instantly left. My husband and I are terribly disappointed. She should be fired for her gross negligence and poor customer service. We were extremely cordial to her and asked her what the best sour was and she was instantly extremely rude to us so we said goodbye and left. It's one thing to have a bad day at work but another to treat customers like trash. We will never return.

Heather H.

Yelp
Great sours - loved the variety! I knew ahead of time so it wasn't a problem, but there's no food available, so keep that in mind when coming to visit.

Matthew B.

Yelp
This brewery is awesome. It is basically what breweries used to be. A bunch of guys pooling their money in an industrial part of town to do what they love, create great beer. It's never really crowded and the bartenders are always ready to talk beer. No matter what your poison they have a brew for you. Besides their usual flagship beers, they have a ton of rotating experimental brews to wrap your tastebuds around. Another fantastic thing about this brewery, they are one of the few remaining pet friendly establishments. If you are looking to get away from the posh reality a lot of breweries have become, grab your furry friends and hop on over to snafu.

Cindy B.

Yelp
This little was the last stop of an impromptu "tour" of sorts of local breweries, as we had a short visit in Charleston and had to plan things out. There are so many breweries in this area - there were none when I last visited, about 10 years ago! A small warehouse area was the destination and the location was found and had easy parking. For a chilly Friday night, the scene was a bit sparse. The service was great; very helpful with suggestions and knowledgeable about the product. There was enough curiosity on my part to have enough choices to require a flight selection. I gravitated toward a favorite and ended up with a six-pack of the Snafu Tang, a sour with oranges = super refreshing. This site was low-key and comfortable. I highly recommend this site for anyone visiting the area.

Meredith E.

Yelp
A chill and relaxing tap room located in a quiet industrial park in north Charleston. A large open dock area with nice airflow and lots of seating options. Snafu specials in wildly flavored sours. While some say these aren't "beers", I say these are great tasty beverages. My two favorites during my visit were the Elvis (peanut butter and banana) and PB&J. Both had strong and enjoyable peanut butter flavors. The staff was very kind and there was a very relaxed dog onsite wandering around.

Rachyl D.

Yelp
I've been to most of the breweries in town and somehow missed Snafu! I love sour beers so this brewery was perfect for me, I got two flights to try all of the different sours they had on tap. They also have more traditional beers if you're not a sour fan. I tried the stout which was also great! This is definitely a no frills kind of place in a warehouse in an industrial park, but that honestly just makes it even better. Old games, a pool table, dog friendly, just an all around cool spot to stop in for a funky beer.

Taylor B.

Yelp
If you like sours, this is a good place to go. Their other types of beer were subpar. Indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly, and good service.

Lana s.

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries to visit when I'm in town. This place is a sour beer lovers dream come true. The different seating areas make the large space feel cozy. I highly recommend trying the garnet and black cherry as well as the and peanut butter and jelly if they have it on tap.

Lisa T.

Yelp
Snafu is one of our top breweries in the Charleston area and we always loved going there until today. Maureen (blonde bartender) was so rude and unpleasant to my husband and daughter today. He ordered 3 different flights and she acted so put out by it. Dude, that's your damn job. If you don't wanna pour flights then move on! We have spent hundreds of dollars there and brought many of our friends as was the case today. They were less than impressed I might add. We love sours and they have some of the best but we cannot deal with her horrible attitude. Then she kept looking out to us as we sat at a table and shaking her head. My husband had to walk out and I had to close the tab out he was so offended by her actions! Get someone to serve the people who loves being there. It's not her!! Rude!!! It will be a while before we return. Sad!!!

Holden M.

Yelp
The sours made here are the best I've had and I don't like sour beers. The fruit by the foot and dreamsicle were the ones I remember from the flight. They are fruity and sweet and not too sour. Their dark beers are yum too. Fun atmosphere, fun drinks, casual. Bingo. Bangin vegan eats was serving too. Good service. Dog friendly.

Yelper E.

Yelp
3.75 stars. It's a bit off the beaten path, but this garage turned brewery features a number of well thought out sours and a couple of ipas. they apparently had a mint stout that sadly rotated off the menu mere days before i made a visit. i would strongly suggest ordering a flight of sours and sampling as many different ones as you can with a couple of friends. everything on the sour menu is super eclectic and worth your time. additionally, the space is pretty inviting, has a ping pong table, and is super dog friendly. if i lived in Charleston, i could see this as a place to spend a relaxing afternoon away from the bustle of the city. it's definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of sour beers.

Annamaria B.

Yelp
I love this brewery. If you liked the old frothy vibe and were super sad to see it go, make this a must stop if you haven't already. It's close to the former and is a winner. I love the small scale garage feel of breweries. Some of them are moving in different directions and seem too hyped up. I love the old school feel. The space here is pretty large and they always have an awesome selection. Relax and watch some tv, play a game, or chat with your fellow guests and awesome brewmasters. I think their hours are expanding more and more so that's awesome. One of my favorites around. So glad to discover this gem of a brewery.

Brooke I.

Yelp
My husbands friends have been going here since it opened and invited us along to try it out! They have many selections from IPAS to sours with unique flavors! They offer flights which my husband and I each got one to sample more selections. My favorite was Cap'n Crunch! Super yummy and actually tastes like the cereal. My husbands was the strawberry milkshake sour! Super interesting flavors. we've been two times now and each time they have lots of new options! The environment is super chill with lots of cool decorations. It's also very dog friendly!! I fell in love with the bartenders dog . I also was able to purchase some local dog treats and saw they also sell other local crafts as well. Definitely will be coming here often!

Cela G.

Yelp
Visited on a Tuesday night eventho they clashed at 7pm I enjoyed myself. Lots of choices of beer including sours. Even got to meet their doggo Pilot. They have lots of games to choose from and with a dollar you're able to play pool.

Nathan H.

Yelp
Not normally a fan of sours but damn the Elvis is delicious. No idea how they got it to taste like peanut butter and bananas but it's awesome. Super kid friendly as well with pool, ping pong , arcade games, and pinball.

Caroline C.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood go-to brewery. They have a free pint for women on Wednesdays. Their taps are always rotating so there's something for everyone even if you don't like sours. There is usually a food truck out there too. No AC or heat, it is literally a garage! But the atmosphere is totally cool and they have fans and heaters to make up for that!

Ansley C.

Yelp
Brittany was absolutely fantastic! We stopped by on our way home and the place is fantastic. Nintendo 64, a pool table, great beer, and great staff. Cannot recommend enough. PS... try the Elvis if you aren't allergic to peanuts. You'll thank me later.

Ashley D.

Yelp
Always have a great time here. They have the best sours ever And I definitely recommend anything Italian ice! Food trucks that come along are really good as well!

Jill W.

Yelp
FYI. Snafu is now OPEN on Sundays from 12-4. Gotta come here for good beer, my fav is The Blood Orange Hefeweizen. They have TV's, video games, ping pong, and other games. This place is family friendly and offers food from a variety of different food trunks depending on the day of the week. My BF and I came on this rainy, one of their first Sundays open and Scott the bartender was friendly, informative and good conversation. I love coming here and definitely recommend this brewery to any local or visitor to North Charleston, as all is welcome.

Justin P.

Yelp
Went on a rainy day and 16 taps pouring that day. It was warm outside and brewery had several fans running to make it a comfortable experience. I've been here before, the Snafu Tang is what turned us on to the brewery initially and the different ingredients used for their unique brews keeps bringing us back. They have food trucks that vary so food options on weekends are usually on point.

Ashley M.

Yelp
5 stars for the beer. I live three hours away, and if I see snafu on tap I am automatically grabbing one, no matter the flavor. I took a trip this weekend just to go to this brewery finally after a year of discovering. Sadly my experience wasn't that great. The beer was perfect as always, but the bartender talked down a crowler and made it seem like it was the most complicated task to do. I work at a brewery and know the process for crowlers, if you know what you're doing it's without hassle... anyways... I will keep my business at my local bars that offer it on tap and hope to see cans in a local stores at some point.

Ron P.

Yelp
Hidden gem in an industrial jungle. It's a sour beer lovers dream, with a ton to choose from. I typically prefer a lager, so I tried their Easy Retro and and Pink Guava. Both were excellent and look forward to having again. There's a pool table, ping pong, and plenty of board games to play while you abide in your favorite drink. Do yourself a favor and make the trip.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Amazing beer selection, and cool space! Very interesting sour beers, and they were all super tasty. We had lots of fun playing ping pong!

Kat T.

Yelp
Our group of about thirty stopped in here for a beer on a cold night of trail running. The bartender was friendly and handled our group quickly. She even offered water...which we needed! There was piped in music and a ping pong table, along with very ample seating at separate tables or along the bar. Nice, clean bathroom, with interesting decor all around. Check out the pics up close. I had the Shadow of Death Double Imperial Stout. Very tasty. Several others got the Ginger Stout...not sure of the name, but I thought it was delicious. If we had been able to stay longer, I was going to try a sour or one of the tangs. Next time! I'll be back.

Christopher B.

Yelp
Snafu is tucked back in an industrial area and if you did t know it was there, you'd probably drive right past it. It's your typical warehouse style brewery with odds and ends they have collected over their lifetime. They have a diverse beer menu with something for everyone. I really love that they're so supportive of local food banks, shelters and community support centers. Dogs are allowed (leashed of course) and they have bingo on the first and third Thursday of the month. When we were there they had a hotdog cart that was phenomenal. They have board games and a pool table next to a large TV. I'll be headed back for sure.

Marissa T.

Yelp
Love love love the assortment of sours, great atmosphere and friendly bar tenders! Food trucks are usually there which is a huge bonus! Dog friendly and great location!

Ny C.

Yelp
Finally able to get over here to check this place out. We came on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few folks here sampling the Snafu beers on a gorgeous spring day. They have a great selection of beers, heavy on the sours but with a couple of lagers, browns, and pale ales as well. I had the APA and the IPA and both were excellent for my taste. The taproom isn't large but it is comfortable and clean. Really enjoyed my time here and will be back. Great and friendly service from the barmaid Maureen as well. I'll be back and if you haven't been here you should give it a try !!

J W.

Yelp
A rustic setting in a warehouse. Food trucks are there. Their menu of sours and non-sour brews are impressive. They'll have something you'll love.

Mike M.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this brewery for a little while now. One day after an interview I went here by myself to meet a friend and it was worth a visit. I ordered a flight so I could try out as many of the beers as I could and they were all amazing. The best part about this place is that you can bring your dog and there are many fun activities like playing on an N64, pinball, pool and ping pong. The bartender was amazing and very helpful. I will have to go back and bring my wife next time. For food they also do a lot of food trucks.
