On the Grid : Snakes & Lattes

"Snakes & Lattes invented the board game cafe craze in Toronto and they’ve just moved into their huuuuuge space on College St. They were the ones who introduced Cards Against Humanity to Canadians and sell any and every expansion pack there is (even the "Bigger Blacker Box"). $5 to play for as long as your heart desires. Ample seating means you should bring a bunch of friends, and the collection of 1000+ familiar and unique games to choose from mean you should all stay for a couple of hours. They make excellent espresso drinks on their La Marzocco machine, have a big menu of soups, snacks, and sandwiches, and a surprisingly long list of beers on tap. Plus draught wine (!!!). Must plays: Werewolf, Telestrations, Codenames." - Sid Lee

How Chef Aaron McKay Became the COO of Snakes & Lattes Board Game Cafes - Eater Chicago

"Snakes & Lattes gaming cafes, where Aaron McKay helped revamp their wine and coffee options and persuaded them to get wings off the menu. The food was well-received in Chicago, and the chain aims to make more food in-house rather than relying on frozen appetizers from wholesale restaurant suppliers." - Samantha Nelson

Board games and great food! Reasonably priced as well. One big difference is that they keep the lights on fully so people can see the games.

The food is surprisingly well done for a cafe. The staff got vibe and it was a good place to hang out with friends. There are game specialists who would recommend game that match what you wanted.

Google
If you’re a fan of board games and casual hangouts, Snakes and Lattes is definitely worth a visit. I recently stopped by and had a pretty fun time overall, thanks mostly to the sheer variety of games available. Whether you’re into strategy games, party games, or obscure indie gems, there’s something on the shelf for everyone. It’s a perfect place for game nights with friends or even a casual date spot if you’re both into friendly competition. Games & Entertainment – 5/5 The highlight of Snakes and Lattes is, without a doubt, the extensive library of board games. It’s almost overwhelming in the best way. The staff seemed pretty knowledgeable too, and they’re willing to explain how games work if you’re new to something. You could easily spend hours just hopping from one game to another. Atmosphere – 4/5 The space is well-lit with a cozy, inviting aesthetic. It has that perfect mix of café charm and relaxed lounge energy. Tables are spaced out just enough for comfort, and it feels like a place you could easily settle into for a few hours without feeling rushed or crammed. Food & Drinks – 3/5 The food was decent—nothing mind-blowing, but it gets the job done. Think elevated café fare: burgers, snacks, a few vegetarian options. Drinks were okay too, though there were delays in both food and drink service. That definitely took a bit away from the overall experience. It’s not the place you go just for a meal, but it works well enough if you’re mainly there for the games. Service – 3/5 Service was friendly, but slow. It took a while for our food and drinks to arrive, and we had to flag someone down a couple of times. It wasn’t enough to ruin the vibe, but noticeable enough to mention. Final Thoughts: Snakes and Lattes is a gem for anyone who loves board games or just wants a different kind of night out. While the food and service could use a little tightening up, the atmosphere and entertainment value make up for it. I’d definitely go back, especially with a group of friends looking for a laid-back night of games and laughs. Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Google
I’ve been coming here for 3 years, and it never disappoints! Such an amazing spot to enjoy with friends. The vibe is always great, and the food—consistently delicious. The photos are of the Pressed Cubano sandwich and S’mores Milkshake, and wow… it’s so good!. Absolutely worth it.

Google
They have the best variety of games. If you think of it they have it, experts are always available to teach you the rules to a new game and help you out in other ways as well. The food is pricey, and the entry to play is 20$ which is not bad but still high. Over all a great place to hang out.

Google
Love the vibe of this place. Had a family experience with two young kids. I paid for just my own admission. The food is amazing (we had macaroni cheese, rigatoni, cheesecake, hot baked cookie, bottomless tea) which was a nice surprise. James recommended great games for the kids and he is a great presenter of instructions. The kids understood him as I did, and the games were such fun.

Google
Great experience. For $20, you get unlimited drinks including a milkshake. Some of the board games were a little crusty, but it was pretty great for the price. The portion of nachos was really big for 2 people. It was maybe even enough for 4 people

Google
A really fantastic experience, loads of board games to choose from, and a really surprising selection of food and drinks all of great quality. The staff experience varied from slightly obtuse and a bit fumbled to absolutely exemplary, leaning more toward the latter. The sense I got was some staff were perhaps still learning or just having an off day, but most of the people that worked at our table were excellent and made up for the stumbles of those few of their peers not playing their A game. Absolutely will go back next time I'm in Toronto if at all possible.

Google
I don’t went here and got some game recs from a staff member. The next day I spent 100+ on buying the recommended board games for myself. Good is great and the staff super healthful and kind. The seating can be slightly uncomfortable at times but no an issue if you are into your board games. Would love to see community events where I can meet other board games fans!

Yelp
I highly recommend Snakes and Lattes as a great two hour diversion or evening out. The best part are the staff. They are incredibly welcoming, happy and helpful. The server recommend a hot tea cocktail called The Duke. It's lavender, Gin, tea and a little sugar. Served in a clear glass, it was refreshing and oddly delicious! The shaken strawberry margarita had a slice of blood orange in it and was uniquely sour for a strawberry margarita. My University of Toronto daughter didn't like it so she gave it to me. I liked it, but nothing in it tasted strawberry. The snack platter was a little disappointing. The pita slices were good but the "fake" tortilla chips looked like pringles. Baby carrots were fine, just the platter was boring. The salsa and dips seemed from a can. The pretzel was dry. 100% it was a frozen bulk pretzel warmed up but made dry. For $7 not worth it. The s'mores shake looked great, but was extremely sweet. The Boozy Banana very sweet. I didn't detect any ice cream. It tasted like whipped cream, a banana, a little caramel an and tiny amount of rum. I'll return but stick to beer and games. Hmmm. Maybe they could have a beer pong contest!

Yelp
Great spot with a good happy hour deal. Fun games and staff are very knowledgeable. They have a drink of the month so that's cute.

Yelp
Snakes and Lattes is one of the coolest spots I've visited in Toronto! If your date or your friends are into board games, trivia, party games, then this is the place to visit! After paying an entry fee, you are given access to an entire WALL of board games of several types- party games, trivia games, strategy games, RPG style games, and so much more! Just about every card or board game imaginable is here. The service is very kind and welcoming- with several "game masters" patrolling the floor who are extremely knowledgable and help you with any questions you have about the game you're playing. There's trivia nights, as well as daily discounts on drinks depending on which day you visit. A great place to go to spend an evening out!

Yelp
Love coming here to try new games and play our favourites. They have a large variety of games to choose from, and board games are separated by category. If you have trouble choosing a game or want help learning the rules, they have game gurus who will sit down and help you with the game. I've always found it helpful to learn new games. I ordered the warm pretzel and a Nutella hot chocolate. They were both great especially on a cold day. I've been coming to this location for years and I always have a great time here. I'll definitely come back again once they re-open to try some new board game.

Yelp
$8/person Minimum $15 spend per person My friends and I came here Saturday afternoon and stayed here til the evening. They were super busy and as expected, the atmosphere was very lively and quite loud. They have many fun board and card games - my favourites were One Night Werewolf and Code Names. For the minimum spend, I got kettle chips and an oat milk latte and both were good. The service was great.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. It wasn't even that busy but we never received our drinks and the bartender was rude and unfriendly. Not going there ever again.

Gurbani K.

Yelp
This place has a variety of board games options and charge a $8 cover fee per person to access the games. There's a very knowledgeable gentleman there, who helps you find a game and also explains you how to play it with your friends. The food and drink menu does not have a wide variety of options and also the food and coffee here was very basic. I would suggest visiting this place with friends who are really interested to okay for a few hours to fully utilise the cover charge you're expensing. My bill ended up being $32, and I ordered just one main and a shareable (which costed $5 for my share) They charge 15% gratuity if you are a group of 5 or more, which also impacted for bill to be higher. So for Students's on budget, I would suggest get the shareable and just a coffee to stay under $25 per person, because the food isn't that great anyways. Focus on the games!!!

Yelp
Always a great time here with friends. A huge selection of games to choose from, very friendly service, and decently priced drinks & snack food. The serving team is very helpful for suggestions games and teaching you how to play. Highly recommend this place. Conveniently located right by Bathurst Station.

Yelp
THE PERFECT PLACE FOR A DATE OR TO HANG OUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS I LOVED this place - my experience was a definite 5/5! They have such a huge collection of board games to choose from, you could spend here all day and not get bored (there is a time limit though). They have snacks, drinks and brunch options in their menu and you can go there just for the food if you don't want to play. The staff if really amazing - they know all the rules for every game (which is so impressive) and really take their time to explain it to the customers. I think you can go there without a reservation but given how popular the place is - I recommend getting a reservation, just to be safe. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
TLDR; If you are into board games, or just fun and good times, you must give this place a try. There aren't a lot of place where I was ecstatic to drop $150 in one night! This cafe works first and foremost because of its people and if any manager from that place reads this, please give your people a raise. Our waiter, Keanu, was fast, helpful, and very sweet. Melissa listened to us, made excellent board game recommendations, and we had such a good time we ended up buying the game we play on the spot and another one to try at home. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun, and it's nice to see people at other tables having a good time with their board game of choices. The selection is truly stellar and their knowledge of the industry is excellent. Finally, the food is actually great and reasonably priced. Their earth burger is delicious, especially if you add avocados, and if you're in the mood for something fresh and with vegetables, the falafel is an excellent recommendation. We also loved the Mac and Cheese, but know that it's seasoned with a jalapeño powder, which may turn some people off. Personally, we found that it cut through the richness of the cheese well, but I understand that it may not be to everyone's taste.

Yelp
As much as I enjoy playing board games I have not stepped foot into a Snakes & Lattes til recent. Food: I am not vegetarian at heart and had the avocado smash wrap which tasted alright. The highlight for me was the Oreos & Cream milkshake, I would have gotten a second one but had to restrain myself. Service & atmosphere: I still do not know the order of how the humongous selection of games are set up, I prolly need to read other reviews to find out how hehe. The games are sectioned off in categories. There are coloured stickers on the boxes that indicate difficulty level! Service was not bad, I had some games in mind and honestly could not find it on the shelves. If you are not able to find a game they can bring it to you too. And if you somehow know how to maneuver through the shelves and cannot find the game you want and no one has it at their table, they can also look through their inventory at the back! They have so many games that the cafe is unable to shelve them all. During the summer, the AC can be a bit cold and if you plan to stay there for long hours, best to bring a sweater! Price: There is an $8 all you can play fee, prices of food was mid-range.

Yelp
An absolutely amazing place to be with friends and family playing some weirdly different board games that you probably never knew existed or even some Of you favourites when you were younger. The staff is friendly and will show you how to play if you can't figure it. The food is reasonably priced and the cover charge of $8 does not hurt. With a large group from work as a fun event, we had a blast. The crowd was mainly millennials when we went and had some great time with them as well. Would go again for sure!

Yelp
Great board game cafe and great food! No reservations at this location. You have to walk in and wait for a table and if you're lucky, you will be seated immediately; however, if they are busy, the wait time can range from 30-40 minutes. Its about a $8 to get access to unlimited games for an unlimited time. Great selection of games and the servers will even explain new games to you if you don't understand how to play it. The service is great as well. Servers are constantly refilling drinks and they even go into detail about the menu which is great. Their menu has a lot of vegetarian and vegan options which are super delicious! The nachos are very flavourful and their chilli tastes so good! You can get it with the nachos, the hot dog, or on its own. Their desserts and drinks are good as well. Overall, the food is amazing but very pricey for a game cafe.

Yelp
Yes I've rated it two stars (thanks but no thanks to the gal at front desk). The games collection here is good the only good part of our night. We all understand and know how busy Friday night can get at a fun spot like this. Generally I'm not someone to write a harsh review but unfortunately they had no one in person to convey our message and the staff made our experience was extremely disappointing. The concept is really good and if you're lucky, you might get a better staff to deal with and your experience might be really good. Few pointers for first timers and why I rated 2 stars. 1) They don't take reservations and if you have bigger group (6 or more) then chances of you waiting for couple hours are very high. Also they have no seats in the waiting area. Adding to the disappointment, you can't even order something to drink or bite on while you wait there to get a table. 2) Unfortunately, some of the staff here are too young to handle a busy night and are just not trained enough to manage it smooth. 3) They shut down the expresso machine around 10:55 even though the place is open until 2AM with limited items on the menu. We got the table almost around same time but another untrained server took her own time to come to our table after 11:05 just to say that machine is shut for the day. Anyway we had to get the drip masala tea which came with no sugar, no milk, no stirrer if not asked for it. Jeez..! 4) You've to pay $8 per person to play as much you want. Food charges extra. Nachos with Trio Dip is $13 and it was the WORST salsa , cheese and beans we ever had. 5) The female at the front desk who puts down your name on the list was a friendly but annoyed us the most. If you want to talk funny she will very much respond but when it came to showing her work performance it was down the drain. Taking her job too lightly. Kept giving us illogical explanations as to why we haven't been seated yet if clearly 5-6 tables were available. Extremely stubborn and stupid to be on the front desk. Direct msg to her-You need to go back to training to learn how to effectively manage a busy night here. It might be a fun place to work at but it's not a candy store. We are real customers gal..! Don't do a shitty job. Please..! you completely ruined the night for us. P.S To the management here-Please feel free to contact me if you want more clarification about my review and experience here. I may consider going to some other location of yours instead of this one only bcz of the untrained and unprofessional staff here. We paid bill of $90 for group of 6.

Yelp
This has always been my fav Snakes & Lattes location. I've always been a big fan of boardgames and so the concept of Snakes & Lattes was really appealing to me. You can rent table time and play boardgames until your hearts content while sharing great food and beverages (coffees & alcohol) with friends. If you are in it for the experience I can't say enough good things. Especially if you and other gamer friends want to check out a game it's a great way to try before buying. The only draw back is that the cost (while reasonable) can also seem a bit high but that's only if you're not considering the experience you're having at this establishment that you might not be able to have at other venues. If you go into it knowing and with that mindset you won't be disappointed especially knowing there's a roving game master there to help. The only other thing I will say is that some of the games are in rough shape. However it's mostly only the boxes on the outside that seem to have been really roughed up most games on the inside are just fine but there are some that have missing pieces so it's best to check your game for all pieces before you start. Other than those two small issues I've had many a great time hanging with friends playing games and not playing games there.

Yelp
Always a great time here and definitely a place worthwhile to visit if you are ever visiting Toronto and are in the annex area. There are TONs of boardgames here and they are organized very well across several bookshelves - there is literally a boardgame for everyone and you will definitely find something to your liking. The boardgames are also very well maintained (eg. cards are laminated, boardgame pieces are organized into small bags). The food and drinks here are decent and are reasonably priced. I always end up getting a tea. + The flat fee to play here is $6.00 + Free wifi! + They serve alcohol! Alcohol and boardgames - great combination + They close at midnight most days. They close at 2am on Saturdays

Yelp
First time ever at a board game cafe! Note: There is an $8 cover for each person to have UNLIMITED access to games so it is beneficial to stay here for a bit Drinks: Coffee was good but I was expecting more options for a place called snakes and lattes. It seemed they were pushing more beer than coffee on a Sunday early afternoon Food: Grilled Cheese and soup of the day (tomato) I was surprised how good it was! Definitely tasted more than just a basic grilled cheese and tomato soup Alittle pricey but it is what it is I ended up paying over $60 for two covers, soup/sandwich, a coffee and a beer. Definitely worth it if you are going to stay here a while but it was a good experience.

Yelp
It's nice here. The atmosphere is really inviting. So are the employees. Honestly if you have time to kill with some good company over a friendly competitive game of monopoly where you know for sure you'll lose, this is the place to do so. Not much in regards to vegan dishes other than a salad but you make do with what the menu offers. It's also pretty INEXPENSIVE. (Which is always a bonus)

Yelp
Looking for a new cafe but also want to grab a beer? Looking for something to do but not sure what to do? Then Snakes & Lattes is just for you! Snakes & Lattes is a playground for board game enthusiasts for all levels (new comer to experts). The appeal of this place is the wide library of board games that you can choose to play. You can pick your favourite childhood games or be adventurous and try something new. Don't worry if you don't know what to pick, the Game Gurus will be happy to recommend something for you. Game Gurus are very friendly and knowledgeable with many games and will happily teach you the rules of the game. The admission fee is $8 but that allows you unlimited play for as long as you like to stay. You can make a full day out of it or have a few hours of fun for a small fee. Because of this, you will find it extremely busy on weekends and evenings. So be prepared to come ahead of time to put yourself on the wait list. You can step away while you wait and they will text you once a table is available for you. Their food menu is also impressive with various coffees, alcoholic beverages, snacks, meals and decadent desserts. This place is suitable for all ages and fun for hours.

Yelp
Snakes and Lattes - the Board Game cafe. My coworker was asking what this place was. She had lived in Toronto for about 5 years and had never heard of it beforehand. What is it? A place to sit down and play board games for hours and hours. Why? Entertainment, socializing, food, drinks & nostalgia--- Monopoly, Hungry Hungry Hippos, CandyLand, Trivia Pursuit, and much more. Who? - Anyone, any age - one friend, a group of friends, a date night, family members. If you feel shy, the staff are very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Food and Drinks? - Sandwiches, salads, and finger foods - Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic (smoothies, coffee, tea) Recommended? YES! Have fun :)

Yelp
I was extremely dissatisfied with the service here. You would think that at a board game cafe where you need table space to play games that the servers might come around at least once every hour to check on the tables/clear dishes. We resorted to clearing all of our own dishes onto a near-by window ledge. After 90 minutes of having our dishes stacked on the window ledge, a different server from another table cleared our dishes from the window ledge. Additionally to this, we were not informed of the 8$ admission price, nor were we informed that we would be charged 18% gratuity for our 4 person table! I think that our server new she forgot about us and didn't want a table not tipping them, so they added the gratuity, because I have never heard of gratuity on a 4 person table. I was shocked when we got our bills. Lastly, one of my friends had ordered desert and after 45 minutes he asked a different server for an update on the dish, and she brought it out 15 minutes later and the desert was still half frozen.

Yelp
Great place to visit if you are looking for a fun night with friends. The game selection is huge and you won't have any trouble tracking down the game of your choice. There are two rooms of tables so you will probably get a spot within no time. We came on a Saturday night and was able to get a spot right away (this was at midnight though). The food is okay nothing too special. The nachos I ordered was missing some flavour and would've been tastier with some cheese on top. Not holding this against Snakes and Lattes though as this isn't a restaurant. Prices are pretty reasonable and comparable to other board game shops around Toronto. We paid $8 per person for unlimited game times and maybe another $10 per person for food and snacks.
google avatar

Yelp
My friend and I went to the College location during a short stay in Toronto, and had so much fun we had to come back before flying out. Unfortunately they were closed for an event, so we turned the corner and came here instead. Snacks, friends, and board games for everyone. For a very reasonable price, you get unlimited games for an unlimited time! Food is pretty good too -- both times I got the creme brulee, and both times it was delicious. Servers are super friendly and open to making recommendations. We chatted with ours about games we like, and even though we were checking out he took the time to explain a game that we're now going to have to keep on our radar for next time. We both really wish we had equivalents to places like this near our home cities. I know for sure I'd be a regular if I had one nearby!

Yelp
I had heard about this spot for quite some time. I always wanted to go check it but something always came up. So I made it a point to lock down an evening, and here I was enroute! Boy, was it a disappointment. Upon arrival, I waited a couple minutes to be seating - no big deal. But once I was sat, my guest and I realized that we had got lost in conversation and had been sitting there for a good ten minutes without being helped. If we had not been first-timers, we may have gone about our jolly way to pick out a game to play. Instead, we sat there waiting for our server as it full-service restaurant. Growing impatient after about fifteen minutes, we wave down a server that is walking by. Instead of helping us or apologizing, she simply says she will go grab our server. Clearly no team work going on here... I wish I could tell you the gentleman's name who ended up coming over, but he never introduced himself. Again, there was no apology, just a "what can I get you two?". We order a drink and ask him how the place is run - we tell him it's our first time. Humbled under his breath, he points to the back saying we can pick any game from any shelf in the place and that it's five dollars for unlimited play per head. Great! He scurries away. My guest and I pick a couple games and go head to head! Another 15 minutes later our returns with our drinks. My company and I both joke to one another that we should have ordered two drinks at once with how slow the service was. Thank goodness for the game and good company!!! I order a caesar salad and another drink. My food come out before our drink. Not shocking at this point. In sum, I actually had a fun time playing the games. This is definitely not a place you'd come for good service or food, but I did really enjoy the concept which is why I gave it three stars. It's a place you can learn new games and share lots of laughs and enjoy good company. It is too bad though, because the concept has such great potential. If they could create a similar spot with better service and even a more clean decor, it'd be game over! ;) All and all, I'm in no rush to head back.

Yelp
Came to snakes and lattes over the weekend with some friends to play Catan. Even though by the time we visited it was almost midnight, the place was still quite lively, and did get us in the mood for some games as soon as we stepped in. Along with he games, we also ordered a few snacks. I went for an ice cream sandwich, which was super delicious! Ended up splitting it with one of my friends since the portion was definitely quite generous. While we are on the topic of food, we may want to cover drinks as well. While I think the atmosphere at this location is not as "unique" as other board game cafes, I do love the fact that they serve booze! After all, games only get more interesting after the third or fourth beer (ah ah). Only remark I have is that our Catan board was probably wrong . . .Somehow the game "set up" must have gotten switched with another game, which ended up giving me an unfair advantage. It was fun for me, but my friends did not enjoy this too much! I would recommend checking it out to see if it can be fixed.

Yelp
So I've been meaning to try Snakes & Lattes for a while now. I finally did with a friend of mine, it was her first time a board game cafe too. We played Rhino Hero (it was amazing!) and that took us 2 hours at least, which by the time we had to leave because the cafe was closing. Amazing experience and super friendly staff, would recommend again to anyone!

Yelp
Not my first time here but my first review for this place. I would say that Ive come here once every other month for the past two years and I've never had a bad experience. My friends and I love to play board games so we're the type of group that can spend up to 6 hours here. What's great about this cafe is pretty much everything. And it's gotten better as the years have passed. The base price for playing is 6$. With that you can play as long as you want. They also have a great menu. I suggest the macaroni and cheese or the quesadilla. The chips and dip to share is good too if you're with a group of people. The drink menu has a great variety as well ranging from Italian sodas to beer to tea to milkshakes. This time that I went I got something new and I ordered a milkshake and a bowl of gummies to share for the table. Both great options if you just want a snack. The selection of board games is endless. Every time we go we play some new games, some old ones. A friend of mine is even working on her own game collection so she often buys a game there from the selection they have to offer. I think this is awesome because the game playing can extend into our own homes. If you want a good laugh play the game lift it. The vibe is great, it's always packed. If you go on a weekend or something you might have to wait. But there's a lot to do and eat in the area if that's the case. The servers are always helpful. I've gotten the server names yoda like 4 times now and he's awesome! Not sure if that's his real name though. I'm gonna ask him next time.

Yelp
What a great place! Seriously wish we had a cafe like this in the Chicago area. Came in with my mother/sister in law on a Friday night and there was a 45 minute wait. We walked around the neighborhood for a bit and came back to check out their selection of games for sale. Solid selection of games to take home, wish I had more room in my suitcase. For $6 per person, you can hang out and play games from their extension selection. There's a wide array of different games and genres. The food and snacks here are also ideal for gaming. Craft beer on tap, yummy desserts, and snacks ideal for the setting. Only concern was the condition of some of the games we played. The copy of Sequence was almost to the point where we felt gross touching the cards. I know it's hard to keep everything up to date, but Sequence needs a replacement.

Yelp
Very lovely and unique place. Came here to check the place as I have heard of it. The place is basic cafe with 6 bucks added for all you can play board games. They have so many games that you get lost and donot know what to play, lucky they have people around which can guide you. I mainly played battle field as I love the game and was fun most pices were present and all was good. Ordered a hot chocolate since playing board games made me feel like a kid as I donot play much. Definitely a place to hang with friends.

Yelp
We have been coming to this location the past two years and while there is often a wait, it is nice that they take your cell number and text you when a table is ready! If you are lucky, you won't have to wait at all (which only happened to us once, ever). The games are fun and there is a big variety; however, it kind of sucks when you get a game out, set it up and go through all that, only to then find that there are missing pieces. I know that many people play the games on a daily basis and the staff do a diligent job ensuring that the board games are in decent condition; however, we came across this situation twice the last time we were at this location. Perhaps they need to improve quality control? Nevertheless, the "game advisors" were very helpful and friendly. The drinks are decent; however, with it being one of the coldest winters in Canada for the past few years, it would have been nice if our drinks were hot, rather than lukewarm. 4 stars for variety of games, atmosphere and service. 3 stars for food and beverages.

Yelp
Spent a lovely weekday afternoon here with a friend. I ordered the nutella latte and it was delicious. Strong chocolate and nutty flavours. But we're not here to review the food or drinks... The staff are great at recommending new games to try. We asked for some strategy games for 2 players, and our waitress came through! She brought 4 different games to our table, and briefly walked us through each game. Once we picked the one we wanted to try first, she then proceeded to explain the rules and teach us how to play. We discovered that it was missing a piece about halfway through the game, and she quickly replaced it for us. Once we were done, she taught us how to play the next game. Maybe it was because we went on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't as busy, but the service here is top notch. The staff are so friendly and very knowledgable, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations! The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. Definitely a great spot to hang out.

Yelp
$6 ALL YOU CAN PLAY and then you can also order food on top of that. Nothing on the menu look good so I just ordered the autumn medley tea. It was really delious and smelt cozy. They had a large selection of games for all types of people.

Yelp
I love this board game cafe. $8 cover per person. They constantly update their catalogue and when they have the time, they will go through a new game with you and make sure everyone understands the rules and gameplay. They can also give you recommendations based on what type of games your group is feeling that day. Everyone I've come across there so far has been helpful and friendly. I did take one star off for the food. It's not that great. Basically, don't go there for your main meal. The snacks are okay, and the beverages are decent. Just go for the games and fun times!

Yelp
You can't go wrong with a board game cafe in my book, and Snakes and Lattes is no exception! There are so many board games to choose from that it's overwhelming, but if you're having trouble you can always ask one of the board game experts that work there. It was an awesome price for unlimited play and the area where I was sitting with my group left us undisturbed by other tables around us. We also got some food which was surprisingly delicious -- we went there for the board games and the food was a nice surprise. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side but overall a great experience.

Yelp
I am not normally a board game person - however the coffee was good the beer was cheap and the atmosphere fostered actual conversation and fun. Would be a good place to hang out with friends or a unique first date.

Yelp
You can get something light to eat, a drink (alcoholic or not) and play games for hours on end. This place is perfect for a night out with friends or even date night. There is a great selection of games. If you have any questions the people who work here are knowledgeable and willing to help. It can get busy depending on the hour you go. Pro-tip: always try to get a fairly decent sized table. It makes a world of difference if you're playing and eating.

Yelp
Snakes and Lattes has changed and gained it's popularity so much over the years. I remember my first time coming here back in 2010 and I know they renovated, so the layout is completely different than what it used to be. I personally think it's a lot less cozy now because they house more guests. Anyways, it's $5 per person if you just want to play games here, I think you're able to sit as long as possible, well when I came here I was able to sit as long as possible. Each of the drinks and foods are add ons. The lattes are made very nicely, though I'm not a big fan of their foods. I got a quiche one time and it was kind of cold and not very delicious. The waiters are very nice and are able to recommend games for the group all the time depending on what they enjoy playing. They were also accomodating because apparently when I came a bit later, the spot I was sitting in was a fire hazardous spot and after seeing how dissapointed I was because I literally took 2 hours to come down and see my old classmates that I haven't seen for five years, they said it was okay for this time only. After snakes and lattes gained in popularity, many other cafes began to open following the concept of snakes and lattes in terms of being a board game cafe, but SNAKES AND LATTES will always be the original one in my heart.

Yelp
Loved going to this place, good service and a large selection of games. $8 per person for all you can play games. I got the iced latte with chips and dips and it was super good and a snack that I wish more places had. Will be returning. Would be a great place to bond with someone, for a first date, or just a casual day activity.

Yelp
Endless hours of boardgames entertainment! They have a huge selection of games and for 5 dollars you can sit as long as you want! If you don't know how to play a game, you can ask one of the staff to explain it to you. I also ordered the waffle with whipped cream topped with chcolate. It was very fluffy, tender and the taste was very buttery! Ladies washrooms are surprisingly very clean and odor free, which is rare at establishments like these.

Yelp
Had such an amazing time at my first snakes and lattes experience! They have a MASSIVE collection of board games you can choose from in the back while the front sells board games you can buy. There's a lot of seating with wide table space so your party can really enjoy playing!! We were so overwhelmed at first with the amount of options we had but one of the workers were kind enough to suggest an option and even played with us a bit to teach us how to play! I've honestly never experienced such genuinely great customer service and I think a lot of it is attributed to the fact that these people just love playing board games! Would definitely return- the annex location did not let me down!

Yelp
Definitely not my favourite Snakes and Lattes location overall, but it's one of the bigger ones and I've been fortunate enough not to have to wait for a table here. The menu, compared to other locations, isn't anything special but there's some decent snacking options. If you're looking for games and decent apps I'd suggested hitting up their newest location on Eglington instead. They do have a couple drink specials available Mon-Wed available as well. Service is always great here and they have a good selection of games to choose from + knowledgeable staff who can always show you the ins and outs of any new game you might want to try. I find this location is also over air conditioned at all times so I'd recommend bringing a jacket or something to throw on while you're there so you don't freeze.

Yelp
This was an amazing place to visit!! We had so much fun playing a variety of different board games, there was a host who helped us pick out different games based on what we were looking for. The menu is a bit simple but good enough to stay there all day. We had lattes, and snacks (gummy candies, vegetable straws and popcorn). $8 for the day, stay there as long as you want! I dont know what more I could have asked for. Highly recommend this place for a date, family day or to hang out with friends!

Yelp
The location of this S&L makes it ideal for post dinner fun! We came here after having dinner at a nearby place and wanted to do something so we decided to come here! A lot of us have never been to an S&L for drinks or to play board games so this was a good opportunity to try them out. It was really busy when we got there and we left our name with the hostess for when a spot opens up. Took around 10-15 mins for them to send me a text to say a table was ready. They charge $8 pp to play all day. They offer a pretty large selection of drinks and food. We all ordered drinks and some yummy popcorn for the table. Service was great and games were really well organized. They laminate all of the instructions which makes them so much more durable with food and drinks all over the table. Will definitely come back for sure! Was so much fun!

Yelp
I really like that they have a flat cost to rent games, so if you are really frugal you could just pay that fee. It's really nice how they have a pretty good menu and that they have beer. The board game selection is quite good, they have light games and heavy so they cater to all audiences. They also have game masters who have played the game you are trying before so you can learn how to play a lot faster. This place is chill, if you enjoy board games but don't want to commit to buying the game you should try them out here.

Yelp
Service I don't think was very good. We got a basic introduction at the host but when we got a table, none of the servers/game masters came to our table to get us set up. The place wasn't packed so I don't understand why they can't make time to greet us. At the onset, we hailed a server and I ordered a Nutella hot chocolate (2 drinks for this order). I believe it took a long time to get it although I was a bit distracted by the games. while waiting for the hot chocolate, I had time to look at the game selection, take a few games out, a friend arrived and they ordered a few more drinks/food, then when we were well started on monopoly, it finally arrived. The Nutella hot chocolate came in a cute Snakes & Lattes Mug with a leaf latte art. I liked it however there was not a lot of drink for $5. Please be aware no outside food or drinks are allowed and if they see it, they will point it out. We spent 5 Hours playing one game of Star wars monopoly (they did not have the original). The board and things really took up the whole table. no room really for our bags.

Yelp
Fun times and they serve alcohol. There's an $8 cover and they will take your name down, and text you once the table is ready. Friendly knowledgeable staff, and pretty clean. The washrooms are unisex and should be checked every hour, as it does take a beating. I cleaned the washroom before I used it as some asshole peed on the seat grr.. Old food and beverage server day kicked in, and I had to leave it clean for the next person. Great alternative to a club, and there's a lot of games to choose from. We had a lot of laughs, and was sad when their coffee machine shut down at 10pm, as we were there until 2am. That's a loss of sales for the venue, as we would have kept buying cappacinos.

Yelp
The game selection is NOICE! Really awesome amount of games. The food is decent, not great, but the staff was kind enough to give me and m'lady a free ice cream sundae, which was a very pleasant surprise, especially on Valentine's Day! Our server Airees was really cool, so huge shoutout to him. Interesting mix of chill music played quietly in the background, everything from indie to 60s throwbacks. Would recommend to anyone who likes board games!

Yelp
Friday 28 July - 9pm.Deliberately embarrassed by waiters and manager because i couldn't read the menu. I'm old. i forgot my glasses. I selected STRATEGO because i can see the pictures of the military men, The waiter asked me to pick a beverage from the printed menu and I said I couldn't and could he please help . he wouldn't. He said 'its all on the menu' I said again 'I dont have my glasses' so he said i'll leave the menu, and I shrugged - It wouldn't help. My date saw me shrug and wondered? and I said 'bad waiter'. Seconds later another face appeared and at first I thought 'good a better waiter', But NO; it was the manager who without doing ANY INVESTIGATION whatsoever himself just insisted I leave. Other tables were looking. It was super embarrassing. My date will probably never talk to me again. I already feel old and now even more useless.

Yelp
We got to check out this spot on Thursday. It actually a very fun place to hang out and relieve some stress by playing some games. They have a huge wall of games to choose from. We played maybe like 5 games but there is much more. They have games like Monopoly Deal, Uno, Apple to Apples, Connect4, etc.. just to name a few. They also do have options for anyone that wants to grab some food as well. We just got the Nachos which were really good. Since we were a little too excited to play games the nachos got a little cold lol. It's a big enough place to go as huge groups or just two people. There is a entrance fee of $6.95 which doesn't limit you to how many hours you stay there :P. I would definitely visit this place again.
