The 20 Best Bakeries In Seattle

"There’s no such thing as petite at Snapdragon. The West Seattle bakery (originally from Vashon) churns out pastries that look like they got hit by the same gamma ray as the Hulk. Their cinnamon rolls are not just giant, but gooey and pillowy soft, while the galettes get stuffed to their bursting point with tart stone fruit. But we’re big fans of the savory options, too, including cheesy green onion bread that makes for a nice lunch, and lemony spinach banitza. Honestly, any of the larger-than-life baked goods here would make you a hero at a picnic or party—as long as you’re willing to share." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

"If you’ve spent any time on Vashon, you may already be acquainted with the giant cinnamon rolls from Snapdragon Bakery & Cafe. Now there’s a West Seattle outpost of Snapdragon that’s turned from a pop-up into a permanent location. Here you can get their galettes, samosas, and more—just without a ferry trip.  We recently checked out Snapdragon. Read our first thoughts here. " - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo

Snapdragon Review - West Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

Their giant cinnamon rolls are gooey and pillowy soft, while the galettes get stuffed to their bursting point with tart stone fruit. But we’re big fans of the savory options, too, including cheesy green onion bread that make for a nice lunch, and lemony banitza with spinach and feta. There are a few seats, but the main appeal of a visit here is gawking at all the options behind the glass available for takeout. First time out to this area in wow awhile. Had dinner up the street then stopped in here for some goodies to take home after researching bakeries. We were not disappointed - it was a block from us and they had cinnamon rolls, which is one of our litmus tests. They displayed yummy looking baked goods, including some items foreign to us. The staff greeted us upon entry and waited patiently for us to peruse the goods. We had several questions, which were answered with a tone of excitement as if they truly enjoyed sharing their craft with others. We sat down in front of the window and had a couple bites. I will say it is very warm if you sit facing the sun, but the enjoyment of our treats trumped the discomfort.

My golden cat, Gigi, sparks great joy inside me. Each bite of the savory potato pie at Snapdragon was like eating Gigi whole. The portions here are Texas-sized. I recommend that the baker not get their eyes tested. It's perfect as it is. The choices were expansive . - donuts the size of dumbbells, cookies the size of dinner plates...I felt like I was walking among dinosaurs The cinnamon rolls were perfectly sweet with a dash of salt and cinnamon. If a gingerbread house were to be made with these rolls as the curtains and a witch with a crooked nose invited me in, tell Gigi that I love her. The masala chai could use a little more of the ambient sweetness and was pepper forward but it went well with my high carb, high Gigi meal.

Everyone raves about this place! If ever going to Vashon, many people say, “Make sure you stop by Snapdragon!” But now you don’t have to go to Vashon…just go down the West Seattle Bridge for this delightful bakery. Their pastries and desserts are delicious! They’re massive!!! I wish they had more savory options. But portions are huge; they can be shared or be saved for later. They’re almost too big though…I know, sounds crazy because who wouldn’t want a huge pastry!? I ended up having a lot of leftovers and sadly didn’t get to eat all of it. It’s a small area inside, so things can get a little tight, especially when there’s a line going out the door. But nonetheless, they’re super friendly here and the line goes by pretty fast

Homestyle American baked goods. Although I do love French pastry, these wholesome, delicious, comforting classics are fantastic! Reasonably priced, servings to share. Can’t wait to try more of them.

This bakery has the most delicious items and the loveliest staff. Hands down one of the main reasons I go to the farmers market every week. They usually have a variety of gluten-free goods, and they make the literal best piece of carrot cake I have ever had in my life AND IT’S GLUTEN-FREE. Make sure to check this amazing bakery out the next time you are in West Seattle, an absolute must. If it’s your first time, definitely get the cinnamon roll.

Google
Delicious handmade savoury and sweet pastries located on California Avenue. We went back multiple times and our favourites were the cinnamon roll (must try), peach coffee cake as well as the chocolate fudge cake (which is also gluten free). The portions are massive and definitely to share. Usually very busy and pastries are sold out on Sundays so we recommend going in the mornings.

Delicious treats!! I had the cinnamon coffee cake and shared it with my dad, it was the perfect amount and the cinnamon was the best 🤤

Dropped in before we explored the West Seattle farmers market. It was quite busy inside, but a friendly associate came and took our order while we were standing in line. The giant samosa is true to its name: huge. Definitely something you want to take home and bake or air fry. Wish the flavors had more kick. Superb service and a delicious assortment of baked goods. We will certainly be back.

Yelp
I LOVE Snapdragon. I first found out about them when I visited Vashon Island, but they now have a location in West Seattle which is much more accessible. If you could only get one thing from here, let it be their cinnamon rolls. They are the biggest, softest, and fluffiest cinnamon rolls I've had. They are definitely on the sweeter side, but it's so delicious. Be sure to get here early as they get sold out quick. Everyone who works here are so nice and sweet. I simply love this place!

Yelp
Stopped by for some pastry's today. Cozy corner store right next to farmers market so stuff goes quick. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The line mives so fast even. Picked up a croissant and some bread. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars was that the croissant was more bread than pastry.

Yelp
This is a MUST GO when visiting West Seattle! They are only open on the weekends, but worth the wait. There is always a crowd, but the bakery staff take turns walking down the line to take orders - love this foresight and efficiency! Both sweet and savory baked goods are well represented, as well as the familiar options and the exotic. I have not had a bad item yet... things to try: - cannoli. These are legit with a beautiful cookie and lush ricotta filling. - savory pies. I've tried a bunch; they're easily shareable or can be saved for another meal, but no. I can never restrain myself! - cinnamon rolls. Nice chew and not overly sweet. But my absolute MUST HAVE item is the whole wheat bread. It makes the most incredible toast; even the most humble peanut butter and jelly sandwich is elevated. I always keep a few slices in the freezer. Again - try this bakery. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
All of our choices were fantastic! There was a line almost to the door when we got there, but they had some staff come out and take orders while we were in line so it went pretty quick and smoothly. It was so hard for me to figure out what I wanted because there was soooo much to choose from. Funny thing was a new tray of something amazing came out and when I asked the staff member helping us he said it was Chocolate Cherry coffee cake. Ok, DONE, decision made. It was incredible! The "cake" was dense and moist and had a good amount of fresh cherries baked in. The generous chocolate drizzle on top was perfect. It was heaven with the coffee we got on our stroll toward the Farmers' Market. We were there on a Sunday around 11am and the line was steady as the shop is at the end of where the Farmer's Market is blocked off to cars. The bakery selections are many and the portion sizes are huge! Some of the savory selections can be up to $14, but the curry samosa my daughter got was not only huge, it easily weighed at least 1 pound, maybe a pound and a half! It was stuffed with potatoes, curry and amazing spices. We all shared with each other and she still had 1/2 to save for dinner or a snack. We ate our delectables outside on some chairs they had and several people passed by admiring our pastries. Two people even decided to go stand in line after they saw our food. We told them it is worth the wait. They came out with a box each. Not only are the bakery goods a treat, the people at the shop are fantastic and the people out on a sunny Sunday enjoying the weather and the market were so friendly and pleasant. I will definitely be back for more!!

Yelp
In a world of patisserie-influenced baked goods, Snapdragon feels like a throwback to the type of pastries that predominated Seattle in my youth, baked by half-time hippie mom's and catering to the broad demographic in those days of Goretex clad tree-huggers and Scandahoovian clog dancers. Big, gooey, moist and delicious; these are the type of pastries that don't merely dance upon your taste buds, but which fill up your insides with all the elements one associates with the modern American safe space (minus the pet). We ordered the Samosa, which is more of a pie in terms of size than what I associate with a traditional samosa. Foolishly ceding control of our order to our stomachs, we added another outsized galette and fruit danish to our order, resulting in a full eating plan for our entire household for much of the week ahead. As a caloric compromise, the weight of the box offered a good workout for my biceps. Service was friendly and efficient. If I had a quibble it was for a bakery that only opens at 10 am, but it is understandable given their oven is in Vashon Island in their mothership location. West Seattle is fortunate to have Snapdragon.

Yelp
Excellent homespun baked goods! Generous sized portions. Both sweet and savory items. This shop is a nice corner that has sidewalk tables to sit and in shop to enjoy their baked goods. I especially liked cream cheese fruit danishes. Very friendly, helpful, polite and kind staff.

Yelp
THE BEST CHAI outside of India and Santa Cruz, CA. I am a chai snob having grown up with hippies and being vegan since the 80's. I am used to people making chai from scratch. Not what most places pass as chai with powdered, boxed or processed, dark, liquid-sugar! Snapdragon is THE ONLY location I have found that does it right, down to the vegan aspect of it - NO DAIRY here! Made with Almond milk and SO good! And don't even get me started on their bakery goods! Also, the best in Seattle, if not the Pacific Northwest, honestly. I am also a bakery snob having grown up with a pastry chef for a step-mother and in a baking family. Snapdragon nails everything I have tried! And no, I do not work for them! I am just amazed I have found true food heaven outside my hometown and home! They have one pastry that is underserving it by naming it a samosa. This looks more like a calzone! It is stuffed with potatoes and veg soaked in creamy curry. The pastry dances a little jig on your tongue - it has a bite! And their sweets are just as tantalizing, but in the opposite direction. I was afraid to write this review and have the lines become even longer down the street! But, they MUST stay in West Seattle! I LOVE them! And I didn't even get around to waxing poetic about their sweet staff people. Just adorably nice folks. Keep up the good work Snapdragon! We are noticing and very grateful for you!

Yelp
Guys please come to this bakery. Everything is made from scratch. The cookies and cinnamon rolls are huge and responsibly priced. The family that runs this business is nice. As a foodie, I highly recommend coming here. It's every Sunday at 10am. They not only have desert but also samosas and pizza. Any other questions please ask me.
