Snapka's Drive Inn

I've been here a few times but it had been a while. We came in for burgers and fries, and honestly it was pretty mid. I was tempted to get the onion rings since they were petty proud of them and maybe I should have. The staff seemed vaguely annoyed that we came inside to eat...but maybe I read into that too much? The kids wanted to sit down inside for some reason. I usually order chilli cheese fries when it's on the menu because I hope one day I'll find the perfect chilli cheese fries joint. They were fine. If the Dixie Burger is supposed to be a quarter pounder...then I don't know what to make of that. Orange Creations at the Sunrise mall obviously hasn't been in business for a while and I haven't had anything comparable for chilli cheese fries. To be fair..I know there was something on the menu that was really tasty I ordered a while back. I think it was the chicos tacos.

It was hard to chose what to eat because the menus has surprising variety for a drive-in. Everything is homemade. I opted for the Mexican plate with a side of onion rings. Unusual but I couldn’t pass up the rings and you shouldn’t either. Apparently the secret is using white pepper in the flour mixture. Best I’ve had in my 67 years on Earth. The chili on the enchiladas was great. As good as any Tex Mex restaurant I’ve been to. Just the right blend of spices. The taco was better than I can make at home. Supposedly the owner mixes all the spices at home every weekend, and makes the salsa, too. The only problem is I don’t live in Corpus, so I don’t know when I’ll get to go back. I just know I will whenever I’m in town. Half way through the meal I remembered to take pictures. I’d post pictures from after I finished but empty baskets aren’t much of a visual feast.

I stopped by Snapka’s for a quick bite and it was well worth it This is a place where you can get literally an old fashion burger at a great price . Hands down well worth it . Thanks for a great eating experience from the past .

The mexican plate is my favoriteeeeeee and the chocolate milkshake. Update: went back but girl at the drive thru window looked like she didn't enjoy her job. Anyways, we are going to start going to the snapkas on Leapord instead, there's always nice service there. She also didn't ask us what size for our milkshakes that we wanted. & when we asked for more napkins, she said there are some in the bag, so we got 2 napkins per person. Which we used up crossing the bridge. Maybe its the heat outside idk

I always go to this place and rarely have problems. Usually it's something minor which I know happens. Today 7/29/24 I called my order in showed up on time before it was ready in the drive thru. I was watching them as they were bagging orders etc. One of the workers bagged up an order and put it on the counter. There was one car infront of me which was waiting for their order. A customer walked in and the employee who put the order that was bagged and ready on the counter takes the order from the walk in customer. Me thinking I hope that's not my order waiting on the counter. Finally after about 7 minutes the car infront gets his order and I was able to drive up to the drive thru window. They female employee immediately hands me my bagged order. I couldn't see the counter to tell if it was the order on the counter but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because of how many times I've been then and gotten great food. Well wouldn't you know it I get home and the paper bags are soaking wet which tells me that was my order on the counter. I ordered a Dixie cheeseburger meal half onion rings and fries, anregular hamburger wth mustard no cheese with onion rings and an order of three crispy tacos. Instead of a dixie burger they gave me the small cheeseburger half fries half onion rings that were wilted and cold. The regular hamburger had mayo not mustard and fries that were cold. The tacos were so soggy they had fallen apart and cold. I called to ask for the manager and a female employee was insistent that she could help me. So I told her that I saw them put my bagged order on the counter and it left it there instead of bringing it out to me when it was ready. And I was extremely angry that they gave me the order knowing it was ok the counter with tacos knowing they woule get soggy. The employee stated she can replace the order which I explained to her that its already 730pm by the time I get there and back home it will be past 8pm. So I asked for a refund. The employee named Spring said that I would have to go back to get the refund. which i explained to her I had already driven over there to get my food then was having to go back to get my money back because of how they decided to ignore my order on the counter then just pass off the order knowing it was going to be cold and the order wasn't even right. She then passed the phone to someone she said was in charge . So I told her I wanted a refund which she explained the same thing. Which I also explained to her the time and gas I already spent to initially get my meal. She asked for the order name and when I told her she said oh yeah we messed up on the order sorry but if you bring it back we'll make it fresh or refund your money. Which I was extremely irate to know that the both employees working knew my order was sitting on the counter the whole time I was there but decided to give me a cold order anyway thinking that was ok and then come to find out the order was wrong. Both seemed to act like it was no big deal. I asked the second employee if she would eat food that she paid for that was cold from being ignored on the counter? She said no. I just do not understand how they could just let food sit there then pass off the cold food to a paying customer. I can understand if i got there late and the food was already there. If the money came out of theit pocket I'm more than sure they would be just as angry. Look at these horrible tacos. They wouldn't eat food like that. The employee clearly said she wouldnt want cold food.

Great customer service & BEST old school burger! Must Try!

I am glad they have let people back in , even though it is just a few tables scrunched together. I ordered what I always loved , the steak finger basket with onion rings. The steak fingers were limp ,they were cooked ,but the breading was sad , not crisp at all , could have been better out of my freezer. The onion rings were hot and not too greasy , so check. The Cole Slaw was good. Although it could have had a little more sauce , it was almost dry cabbage. The girl was very busy , but after food was delivered , we did not see her again , so there were no refills of drinks. There are too many places to choose from ,so there is no need to return for what used to be good.

I had frito pie, which was excellent, and my daughter had the Dixie burger. For a quarter pound burger, it was pretty good, and she said the pickles were great. Service was friendly and speedy.

Ate there today! Great food and great people!! Met the owner and had a good visit. Highly recommend.

Driven past this place for 25+ years when my territory has coved CC and it's always got a steady crowd. It's a shack a true Drive (#DDD) with years and years of true South Texas character. Charming hole in the wall something your grandparents or great grandparents would say that's where they would gather back in the day. Great service everything made fresh to order. Burger was ok. Sorry, maybe I ordered wrong. I only had cheese and mustard because I was driving to another appointment (didn't want to make a mess with veggies) just was dry. However, I am a sucker for homemade onion rings. Breaded not beer batter dipped is the only way to go. These were lightly batters in a crispy crust with just a pinch of salt. No special seasoning (seasoning salt ) they let the sweet onion do its thing. Gotta be the top 1 or 2 I've ever had. Had a craving for a homemade burger and this place did not disappoint. We dined in and liked the retro chrome and red vinyl chairs, and old fashioned convertible motif. Staff were knowledgeable on the menu and very kind. It took about fifteen minutes to receive our full order as it is all made to order with fresh beef and not under a heat lamp. Everything is fresh and hot off the grill. Husband and I had double meat double cheese and bacon burgers as well as a side of onion rings. Burger was fresh and flavorful, juicy and fresh lettuce and tomatoes and toppings. The onion rings are flavorful, crunchy and keep their crunch throughout eating them and not greasy. Also tried an old fashioned strawberry malt as I never had a malt before. They have Bluebell ice cream which was hand scooped, malt powder added for that old fashioned flavor and made in an old fashioned metal milk shake blender. Excellent prices, better than any fast food chain out there. Definitely we will be back. Come try this mom and pop drive in for an old fashioned malt shoppe experience. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing food and friendly staff, came here because the restaurant we wanted was closed and was not disappointed at all! Very patient with my kiddos ordering and very helpful overall, definitely recommend.

I had a plain burger (shared with my pup), shrimp basket, and onion rings. Burger was surprisingly yummy, nothing super special but satisfying. Shrimp was great, perfectly fried. Fries were solid. Onions rings were unique with a very light breading.

First timer today. Ordered a to go double cheeseburger onion rings and two tacos. Omg everything was so tasty and wonderful! Burger had great seasoning to it. Just so, so good. I live out of town, but will definitely be back!

Always get the shrimp basket but this time tasted differnt I recommend to change the oil , but other then that I like

Called the Weber location at 20 till 9, the phone rang & rang & rang before someone answered and then hung up & busied the phone out till closing time 20 minutes later, 9p.m. I just had a question but they were afraid it was a phone in order & they didn't want to take it. Bad business guys!! I wont be going there in the future & I'm going to tell my friends the same thing.

Disappointed that we had to eat in the car today . Other than that we received ok food and courteous service . Probably not worth another visit.

To start owner was bragging about the fried chicken so decided to stop by and try 12:02 pm . When car hop finally came out was told no fried chicken because it was frozen and had to thaw out. Alternative plan Dixie burgers...

I spent 50 bucks on 4 burgers and a hand full of fries. I could count on my hand how many fries came in the 4 baskets, and the burger was dry. Very unpleased and wont ever go back. Save your money.

good food but super pricey.this is the only place in town that charges for cheese when you order the tacos.should it not come with cheese already it is a taco

I do not go to restaurants looking to do a bad review but this one was really bad I heard good things about it but apparently they were all lies I had 2 tacos my wife ordered a chili dog with the Onion rings in a strawberry shake my bill was $27 And the fool was horrible We were looking forward to eat in here while on our way back Home from fishing in Rockport I will never recommend this place

Perfect food great strawberry milkshakes and Dixie burgers would highly recommend great for kids and all members of family.

OMG!! We ordered 2 dixie burgers & sm onion rings totalled $17. Came back to our hotel, unwrapped our food. 1 burger bun was burnt, both burgers were dry, onion rings were smashed, pale, soggy, no flavor and cold. Snapka's is only a 10min drive to our hotel! I remember Snapka's food being soooo good! What happened? Will never go back.

This place used to be fast and efficient. Not the case anymore. Waiting 25 min for a hamburger is unacceptable. Figure it out or people will not come back.

Tried calling multiple times to place an order and nobody answered. Decided, in an extended effort to give them business, I'd show up before closing to place an order in person and instead they say they're closed. According to their hours they definitely were not closed. She just said ,"I don't know, just saying what my manager told me." Very cavalier, raising her hands with a don't really care gesture, the entire interaction was extremely rude. Mind you this was not to just us, but to multiple customers waiting. Clearly a bunch of folks who just didn't want to work and would rather leave early. Horrible service. Don't waste your time!!! Frankly, I've never had such appalling service.

Excellent mom n pop type place, non franchised, LOCAL! Craving a good burger in Corpus but not Whataburger... I do love Whataburger, by the way! This place satisfied the craving. Ordered a double cheeseburger for the hubs and single cheeseburger for me. Yes, chili cheesefries, too. Highly recommend!!!!!

We are in town from Houston, and we were recommended to try this place and WOW!!! Amazing good old fashion burgers and the girl that came up to our was the sweetest She took our whole order by memory, which I was kinda scared they actually forget the NO ONIoNs but she got our order down You guys have to try this amazing spot! Do not leave corpus without trying it

Burgers Burgers Burgers!!! Wow what a great flavor their grill and cooks are magical . One of my all time favorite places for a nice juicy burger. Try the Chili , it goes great on anything( it has no beans). Tacos are good and a little juice but hits the spot. More to try and I will get all over it. Support Local Businesses!

This place is the cutest coziest burger joint I have ever been too. The waitress are exactly what you expect. Funny, cute, carrying their own conversation but incorporating anyone who could hear it. Ha! The menu is clear cut. I'll attach it below. I got the regular Dixie burger. 8/10 With the chili cheese fries 10/10 Onion rings were amazing crispy & not covered in grease! 9/10 Chili cheese dog was good if you're a hot dog person. I am not, but from my dads stand point, he devoured it. We will be coming back next time we come down!!

Amazing drive in spot in Corpus! We stopped here on the way home from the beach based solely on Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed! The burger, onion rings, and milkshakes were all delicious. In the famous words of Arnold Schwarzenegger "I'll be back"!

Service was definitely a 5. Friendly waitress came out as soon as we parked. Food was hot and there was plenty of it. A large order of onion rings was more than enough for 2 people. The chocolate malt got 2 thumbs up. The only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 is personal preference on the burger. It's a mom and pop version of fast food. Worth the visit if you want want a quick meal.

I came in for a milkshake and somehow ended up getting a Dixie cheeseburger. I love old fashioned burgers like these. Not too greasy like Hamlin Pharmacy but just as good. Small dining area and drive thru available.

Burger was really good, but the chili cheese fries were watery and lacked flavor. The young girl working also had a bad attitude. She was vaping inside the restaurant and when we waved her down she rolled her eyes before putting her mask on to come out. The burger would've been worth returning next time I'm in Corpus but the service and chili ruined that for me. Wont return.

My wife and I spent a few days in Rockport, but there was one place in Corpus Christi that we had to eat at again. That was Snapka's Drive Inn on Weber. This is not some "burger joint" it is a "burger happening"! My wife had a small burger and onion rings. I had the big burger with fries. We took our treats back to our condominium in Rockport. We experienced paradise in burger-land while overlooking the bay! Snapka's serves great burger, and the sides are scrumptious! They cook everything just right. The young lady (do they still say carhop?) who brought out our order was great! She brought everything quick, hot, and scrumptious. She gave my wife and me (senior citizens) a wonderful smile and had a pleasing deposition about her job. Thanks, young lady for your wonderful service and smile! We'll be back at Snapka's this summer. We are looking forward to great service and great eats! SORRY...NO PICTURES...WE ATE THEM ALL!

My family and I went to eat here last Sunday. This place is very small; however, very good. We had everything from chili cheese fries, shrimp, fish, burgers, chili dog, to just a bowl of chili... All fantastic. Also you can order half and half onion rings and french fries..

Blue collar diner and damned good at it. I have been several times with the guys from work. It's the kind of place where the ladies working know what their regulars want, and what they'll likely order to drink. Of the menu items I've sampled; everything has been great. Catfish special last time. Rather than frozen strips it was a giant slab we'll prepared and served perfectly. It's a can't miss. Definitely worth a stop!

Reasonably priced fast food and very nice waitstaff. I ordered steak fingers with fries & onion rings and enjoyed it - a bit on the salty for me and I ordered cream gravy and got brown gravy instead (which I discovered when I got home). Filling, a tad greasy, but definitely A-Ok for diner food -- willing to try it again because of friendly staff and good prices. Was not fond of the coleslaw or fries -- but okay for a first try. I did try to go through the drive-thru yesterday (Saturday noon) for a quick malt drink, but vehicle in front of me was stationary there at the window -- presumably waiting for order -- over 10 minutes. I finally gave up and drove off.

Excellent home cooked style food. Crispy,not greasy, onion rings. Fresh ingredients on Hamburger. Chili dog was great!!! Give it a try. The friendly staff was the topping to a great meal.

Placed an order and watched the chaos inside the building. Poorly organized chaos. I got a decent Luke warm burger to go with my cold French fries. I can't do that again at a drive in fo 11 dollars I got a burger fries and small coke and poor service.

I'm sad. I hate writing reviews, but i want you guys to hear feedback... It took me 30 minutes to get my food and although I get things may be busy, my fries were room temperature and unsalted... My burger was soggy. I'm just sad after i spent almost 35 dollars.

I went through the drive through and the service was good, and the burger and the onion rings were EXCELLENT!!! The fries were a little under-cooked, so that was disappointing, but the rings are worth going back all by themselves!!! My wife and I will definitely be back!!!

The worst service in town, the staff would rather be taking cigarette breaks than helping customers, it is dirty and stinks like an old bowling alley

I love this place! One of the first I visit whenever I go home! Anything from Mexican food to burgers, all of the food makes me feel warm inside. I always get the burger and fries but my brother swears by the frito pie. Don't be skkared.Plus, who has drive-ins these days besides Sonic? A nice nostalgic throwback to the good old days. Don't miss the crinkle fries. I could eat a thousand of them.

Everytime I go back to this location it just keeps going down the crapper. I was the only one in the drive thru and it took 25 minutes to make and serve one frikken' order. And then there was a problem with the order. To make good on that cost me another 12 minutes. The steak sandwhich was small and not that great. ... nothing like I expected. I've had better experiences. I would not call this place a Fast food joint. because speed is not their specialty. And that would be OK if the food came out really really good. Perhaps the hamburgers are OK but dont order anything off the beat and path.

Solid for a burger joint. Took the kids Sat for shakes and burgers. The menu is classic car hop. We ate inside which is small. I think that if you want hop service you have to leave your lights in. Check out the photos. Food was tasty.

Love this place. Just good food no frills. I come here often and enjoy it every time. The onion rings are delicious and hand breaded to order. They have very friendly staff.

Cheeseburger are always good, never disappointing. Best onions rings around. Fried chicken is unique and delicious. Prices are good and wait staff are always friendly and efficient.

I am from Dallas and my wife is from Corpus. We have always argued about who had the better burger; Keller's or Snapka's? I hate to say it but my wife might be right. The Dixie burger at Snapka's is as good as it gets. The wait staff are a throwback to another time when people cared about their customers. We ate at both locations this past weekend and nothing has changed.

Love that they have a drive threw, there are so many times I need to grab something from the store an both the kids are sleep an can't get down so the drive threw for snack is perfect. Open late with great service.

The food was pretty good but someone needs to teach the girl up front how to greet customers or at least look happy to be there and not eat while taking orders very unprofessional. That was our first time. It looks really nice in there but the workers kinda killed it for me. Maybe next time will be better with friendlier staff.

Usually I would give Snapka's 5 stars. It's our go-to place when we come to Corpus. The food is great, and so is the service. The redheaded lady (wish I knew her name!) that is usually working is so friendly and always remembers our faces. But tonight I was disappointed because although we didn't get there until 930 pm, they were only serving chalupas and tacos. I realize they close at 10, but I think all menu items should be served until closing. I will continue to come to Snapka's; again the food is fantastic!

Hands down the best drive in town. Ive been eating here since I was in my moms belly and she used to drag race on staples and leopard. Haha. Both locations still rock. Stop in and grab a bite, you won't be disappointed. Don't forget to grab a hand dipped milkshake too.

Loved it. It's an old duvet burger joint with great food and great waitresses. Would recommend to anyone looking for a diff place to eat!
