Snappy Lunch

Pork chop sandwich was awful. So much thick pancake like breading that had no taste. Hotdogs were not tasty either- chili was terrible. Was really looking forward to eating here. Service was okay, could have came and refilled my drink. Atmosphere was okay but it was very tiny and crammed in. You can get full menu all day.

We were leery but ordered the pork chop sandwich, which is actually pork loin. We had toppings on the side, as I don't like mustard. I liked it, it is different. Person I was with didn't like it, said it didn't have any flavor, he forgot to put mustard in it. I would go back.

I’ve been to snappy lunch twice now and planning on going back December 2025. I know some folks will disagree but I found the pork chop sandwich to be absolutely delicious all the way. It’s literally a meal that will sustain you. Both times I’ve been to visit, the food was delicious and the staff was warm and welcoming. You can’t beat the atmosphere of the place. Being an old guy, I can appreciate this. It reminds me of the drugstore counters. My grandmother and I used to visit when I was a kid.

The pork chop sandwich was delicious. We were skeptical at first, but the flavors blended together nicely. Large enough for two people to share. Service was friendly.

A true historical restaurant in Mt Airy NC. (Aka Mayberry) The famous pork chop sandwich is delicious. All the servers are extremely friendly and polite! Great place to enjoy some awesome food and relax and take a trip back in time. Oh ya, the prices are like going back in time too!

This place is truly unique as is Mt Airy. What a gem this little Mayberry city is, right out of the Andy Griffith show. The food was unique as well. You have to have the breaded porkchop sandwich all the way !!!! It's very good and very filling. The ladies behind the counter are wonderful but because this place is pretty busy you don't get to talk to them much. Mt Airy is a must do as well as Snappys. Breakfast is served until 10:30 and then it switches to lunch until 1:45.

If you want to go back in time to when people were friendly and the food was homemade and delicious then go to snappy lunch. My server was the sweetest thing ever and kept calling me love and sweetie. I had the bacon and eggs with a biscuit. The food was delicious and the biscuit was ginormous. They gave me real butter and jelly instead of the prepackaged stuff. This is a great little experience and a good place to eat.

Excellent pork sandwich! Cheap prices! Great location! We'll worth stopping into. Can be a wait to get inside during lunch time. We waited 10 minutes so not too bad around 1 Pm on a Tues.

Well I made my once a year trip to Mount Airy was this week. My son and I went Hicks Water Stoves to get chemicals and a new pump for our water stove.Naturally we always go to the Snappy Lunch. With the weather on the COLD side and snow on the way there was no line. I feel sure because of the weather I believe it was 29 for the high. And windy. So anyway we had no trouble getting a table.Could not hardly get seated and our waitress was getting our drinks. Coming in the door you could smell sausage. Somewhere in the back of my mind I was thinking Mmm a sausage and egg sandwich would be good. But I still had to have a Pork Chop sandwich. So I ordered one all the way and one with lettuce tomato and mustard. My son ordered a Bologna sandwich with cheese mustard slaw. We both got a bag of chips.Like us a few heavy clothed folks came in and was gone. Our food came pretty quick. Nice and hot like it should be on a slow day. They made sure our drinks never ran out. As a matter of fact I switched over to coffee to get a little more heat in my old body. My pork chop sandwich all the way came with mustard chili slaw tomato and onion. Both were just as good as the last year's meal. The young man running the place was counting the money and a customer came in picking up a togo order and he laughed telling him Living the dream. I made the comment to him that I bet a slow day wasn't a bad thing knowing the next decent day it would be full and folks standing in line. He made the comment a break was not a bad thing. Who knows I might need something for the water stove before next year.

We got here at 12:15 on a Monday and they close at 1:45. It was packed! Thankfully we were able to grab the last open table at the door. Took a little bit of time to have our order taken, but the poor servers were running around trying to keep up. Once we got our order in, we had our food in no time. It was cool to look around and see all the memorabilia on the walls. Food was good. We tried the famous pork chop sandwich and the breaded cheeseburger. Both were good! We love trying new things, and we'd never had either of these before. Definitely a fun spot to stop on our way from FL to OH.

A national treasure that is as nostalgic as they come. It's been over 25 years since my last visit and it didn't let me down. Of course, I had the pork chop sandwich all the way. How can you not make this a stop when visiting good ole Mayberry. The staff is very aware of their notoriety and make you feel like Andy when you walk in the door. It takes you back to a simpler time in Americana where friendships were made on the front porch and lessons were taught behind the woodshed.

We had lunch here today and EVERYONE we met was friendly and helpful. The pork chop sandwich is a must. I was a little nervous about it being dry and our waitress assured me it wouldn't be and she was right!!! It was fantastic. We also ordered the breaded cheeseburger which was good, but the pork chop sandwich is the one to go with. Also the history and charm of the place is pretty cool. We had no problem getting a table for two at 12:30 on a Saturday....maybe because it was 40 degrees out, but I'm not complaining. Great place to grab a quick bite!

Great service, friendly staff, inexpensive prices, and interesting food choices. Tried the Pork Chop Sandwich and fried bologna on a biscuit. The Pork Chop Sand was ok, I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw on it. The bologna Sandwich was more to my liking. Everyone needs to experience Snappy Lunch!

I've been to Snappy Lunch many times over the years. The atmosphere is very casual but service is friendly. The food is simple and the prices are cheap. The walls are covered with Mayberry decor. If the restaurant is full, they have a sign outside to wait. Tables flip pretty quickly so you will not be waiting long. On my most recent stop, I ordered the cheeseburger and added bacon and that was $5.50 and got a bag of 60 cent chips too. How can you beat those prices? The food came out snappy fast too. I knew this wouldn't be gourmet, but the burger was good and there was a lot of bacon on it. They were out of tea when I was there and some soda products. This is a great place to visit for some nostalgia and good food.

The food is delicious and the line out the door is worth waiting for to enjoy Snappy's World Famous breakfast plates, biscuits & sandwiches. The service is great and has 'no nonsense' ordering. The ambiance is unique and has a lot of Snappy Lunch landmark memorabilia. Definitely worth visiting.

Pork chop sandwich is not what is made out to be. Breading on the pork chop does not go good with chilli and slaw

If you haven't been here for the famous pork chop sandwich! Your missing out. Luckily today- no line. We sat at the counter and had a great conversation with the staff- always super friendly!! My sandwich delicious!!! Pork cutlet, tomato, coleslaw, mustard. So good!! Thank you snappy lunch - your an icon!!

Mount Airy is the cutest little town with lots of history and everyone must try the famous pork chop sandwich at Snappy Lunch at least once! With that being said, I simply didn't love it. The pork was extremely bland and totally disappeared in some type of pancake breading that just became soggy when they added the slaw and chili on top. The slaw and chili were also completely tasteless. The only real flavor I tasted while eating the sandwich was the mustard they slather on the top bun. I would have loved to see some seasoning... a little salt goes a long way. My expectations were high because everyone hyped up this massive historic sandwich but I just kept wanting more. I added Texas Pete to see if that would amp up the flavor at all but that was a disappointment. The only side available was a bag of chips (plain, BBQ, sour cream and onion, or salt/vinegar). This day, they only had BBQ or plain so BBQ it was. If I go back, I will definitely order a cheeseburger or just quite literally anything else. I love the nostalgia, I love the history, and I love the town. But unfortunately, I did not love the pork shop sandwich.

We stopped by for a quick breakfast before touring the town. Glad we did as lines formed soon after we arrived. We had a fried bologna and egg sandwich and the Famous Pork Chop Sandwich (pork chop, coleslaw, mustard, chili,) along with coffee. The bologna sandwich was great and reminded me of my childhood. The pork chop sandwich was interesting but it tasted very good as well. The coffee was tasty. The walls are full of memorabilia and many old menus. The prices are amazing, the two of us ate for 11$ before tip. A must stop if in the area.

Flashback to a slower pace time and this is exactly what to expect. I heard that you should get there before 11:45 or expect a long wait. We arrived at 11:30 and just missed the last spot and was first in line outside. We waited about 15 minutes for the next table. We ordered the famous fried pork chop sandwich and a drink. It's cooked to order so it was about 20 minutes wait. No plates, just a hot sandwich wrapped in paper. Napkins on the table. $4.45 for the famous pork chops sandwich. Lunch for 2 was less than $15, which you pay up front at the cashier.

I used to eat here often as a child and never miss makeing a stop when ever I'm in town.the thing to keep in mind about this place is that since the show it's more of a tourist destination now. So it will be busy with lines. So be prepared to wait! Once inside expect it to be busy and crowded but the staffs always friendly and the prices are really inexpensive for this type of place. So go in knowing what to expect but you must go at least once! And be sure to have a world famous pork chop sandwich you'll be glad you did.

Love the pork chop sandwich. Our go to place when visiting downtown Mount Airy. Great wait staff. Very informal and plain but decent food at great prices.

I had the pork chop sandwich and my wife had the burger. I don't understand why the hype about the pork chop sandwich. It came cold like it was cooked hours ago and it had zero flavor. I would never eat here again. My wife ordered a bacon cheeseburger and when she received her burger it didn't have any bacon on it. They don't have any fries. The only side they offer is a bag of chips that had a retail price of .59 cents that they charged $1.60 for. No way would I be back. Worse meal I've had in a long time.

Local to the area. Love the mount airy area, however have never been to Snappy Lunch simply because there is typically a wait. Today was an exception to that and I finally got a chance to eat at snappys lunch for the first time. Myself and my mother ordered the famous Pork chop sandwich all the way (with mustard, chili, tomato) and slaw)with chips and a soda for a reasonable price of around $5. I was completed impressed with the tasteless pork chop sandwich. There was absolutely no taste nor was there any meat in it. The thin sliced pork chop was smothered in what I thought was undercook pancake mixture. It was so disgusting that my mother not myself could finish it. I was so disappointed how this all turned out. I should've listened to other reviewers who said the same. I can't rate any of the other food, but the other menu option has to be better than the disgusting pork chop sandwich....it couldn't possibly be worse. Do yourself a favor and order anything but the pork chop sandwich or better yet go some other place to eat.

Yes,just YES. Southern cooking at its best. Biscuits and gravy, pork chop sandwiches like none other! Can't even eat without waitresses checking on you every five minutes awesome service. Andy Griffith theme everywhere you look.

Wife enjoyed the BLT done right! Pork chop Sandwich was great but messy with all the slaw on it, but that didn't slow me down from devouring it in short order! Sweet tea was good and topped off with Lays Plain and Barbecue potato chips.

Visiting the birthplace of Andy Griffith, we needed to stop for lunch at this Mayberry classic. We ordered the "world famous" pork chop sandwich even though we hadn't ever heard of it. It's a breaded thin pork chop topped with mustard, chili, Cole slaw, onion and tomato on a soft roll. It's messy (moist) to eat and served on a piece of waxed paper with a bag of Lay's potato chips. The interior reminded me of a small storefront with a counter with stools on one side, tables and booths along the rest of the room. Lots of pictures of the Andy Griffith actors covered the walls. Quaint and cheap to eat - sandwich and chips only $5!! Definitely a must visit if you are visiting Mount Airy.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Was first there in 1973. Even better now. Keep on keeping on. Love all menus items.

Snappy Lunch is a great place to have lunch! The food there is really good. The service is friendly. The only thing that really bites the big one is, If you get there a little late you might find yourself waiting in a very long line, especially around Thursdays and Fridays. Sometimes the wait is 45 minutes to an hour and other times it 20 minutes to 30 minutes. It really depends on how many people are out and about.

Amazing pit stop during your visit to Mount Airy. Has the most adorable 50s diner vibes with casual and VERY cheap menu items. This place is famous for their pork chop sandwich. 4/5 stars for the fact that the food didn't blow me away - was a bit bland. Adding some salt or mustard or a "punch" of flavor would make it better. That being said - it is a super cheap place to grab some lunch and the vibes are adorable. Worth a stop in my opinion but perhaps don't expect 5 star meal quality (justified with the price). Service is great!

Get their Special Sandwich and share it! That's the lowest cost EXCELLENT sandwich I have had since the pandemic broke out. We could not believe the tastiness and size. I told ''em it should cost 2x and would still be a great sandwich. Don't miss this if you are in the area.

Pleasant staff, good food, Fantastic atmosphere. I wouldn't mind going here a few times a week if I lived nearby.

Would of given them five stars had it not taken 45 mins for our tenderloin sandwich's (2).. or might of been five stars if those who came in after us were not getting their sandwiches before us... We got tenderloins all the way.. which is only way to try something they are famous for .. many ingredients I would never just order on a make your own sandwich.. but the combination works ..

My husband and I had BLTs, chips and a drink. Sandwiches were great. Excellent bacon. We ate around 11 and easily got in. However, I heard our waitress say to someone that 3 buses were due in around noon!!! You definitely have to pick your time of when you want to be there or you will be waiting outside.

Like Andy, you go to Snappy's for the pork chop sandwich. And yes, it's awesome. It's crunchy in a peculiar way that makes you wonder....HOW? After two bites, you won't care. The slaw and everything meld together perfectly to form one of the most tasty and unique sandwiches we've ever had. Grilled onions (they're served raw) would put this sandwich over the top! Because we were in town for a wedding, we were "slightly" hungover and had to work our way through a few breakfast biscuit sandwiches before the pork chop took center stage at 10AM. The biscuits were ALSO tasty! Price point can't be beat; three people can eat for under $20. Seriously. Staff is friendly, fast, and they actually help each other (imagine that)! While you're there, check out the back dining room with all kinds of cool, chromed out retro tables and of course, plenty of Mayberry memorabilia. In the future, we'd like to see Snappy's use real plates, glasses, and silverware to add to the diner/lunch counter feel.

Happy people serving old-fashioned food at an old fashioned price. We tried the cheeseburger, pork chop sandwich, and even the bologna and cheese.

My burger was really good!!! You have to wait outside in line until a table comes open bc there is no room inside to wait. As soon as we sat down we gave our order. I had a burger and hubby had the pork chop sandwich. The pork chop sandwich looked really disappointing and bland I have a pic of my husbands face looking down at it all sad LOLOLOL but I can't post it and do that to him. It tasted fine he said but was hyped too much. My burger was wonderful. They serve chips with the sandwiches.

I stopped in for breakfast to go, as I had heard some great things about their biscuits. Folks, you won't go wrong here. Prices are surprisingly low. The bacon, egg and cheese biscuit was off the chain delicious. Three slices of beautiful, crispy bacon - and not the paper thin variety. Also ordered a butter biscuit, which was also very good. Sausage biscuits for the family, and again - nicely done. This is definitely a spot where the locals go for their morning breakfast, coffee, and gossip. I can't speak for their lunch offerings but the pork chop sandwich seems to get a lot of good press. Enjoy!

The pork chop sandwich was absolutely perfect. I ordered a hotdog but was too full to eat it after the pork chop. Excellent price. I called it in bc there was a line outside. Super quick lunch as the name implies. I ate while standing in the alley with the race car memorabilia bc this town is rich with history.

Went here a few years ago and it was pretty good, it was packed and they were cooking the pork chops right up front when you come in. Went today and what a disappointment. Ordered the famous pork chop sandwich all the way. The first thing you noticed when opening the wrapped sandwich was that it was actually cold. The bun used to be bigger but now you have this big piece of batter with a skinny pork chop in there somewhere and its just a mess, and literally maybe luke warm, having been cooked sometime ago. There was no chili, and it just was not good. All you could taste was the slaw and onion. I saw no lettuce, there was a tomato slice. But the main complaint was that it was nowhere hot, barely warm, and just not the great place I remembered from before. Not a do over.

Had to stop here for nostalgia! Ordered the world famous pork chop sandwich - all the way, double cheese burger, boiled ham sandwich. Prices CANNOT be beat anywhere! That's a step back in time to begin with! Pics of menu included. Service was VERY friendly! They even moved us in faster to keep us from standing in the rain. Drinks came out quick, but food took almost an hour. Pork chop sandwich has gotten mixed reviews online and I'd say it falls right in the middle. Not great, not bad, just average. Couldn't really taste the chili at all. Wasn't disappointed by it, but don't go in expecting to be blown away by the food. Double cheese burger was better than McDs fast food, again I'd say average, but good. Boiled ham sandwich was a slice of ham on a bun. It is what it is If you're going to visit this town, you have to eat here and I don't think you'll regret it.

Quaint little place in Main St. "Mayberry". Limited breakfast menu. No potatoes. Everything is served on disposable flatware. Coffee was good. Ordered biscuit with gravy. Expected more flavor, but was good.

This place is fun and the food was so much better than expected. My wife and I both had the famous pork sandwich. Neither of us had high expectations, but both were very surprised at how good it was. We'd both come back for that sandwich. Also it was so cheap ~$4.

First off prices are fantastic. Two of us are for $9.95 plus tip. The servers were friendly and attentive after we waited to get served. Unfortunately, the food was "ok." I got the world famous tenderloin "all the way." It was all breading and toppings. The pork itself was tasteless. My friend had the hotdog, again it was ok.

Heard all the hype about this small diner in Mount Airy. Tried the "famous" pork tenderloin sandwich, which is encased with pancake batter. Did not have it "as it usually comes" with chili onions etc. Removed all the pancake batter to reveal a thin sliced piece of pork. I topped it with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, mustard ketchup, which reminded me of a sandwich I had back home in Indiana. There are other basic offerings which are standard fare for a diner. Meat and two, eggs, biscuits sandwiches, burgers, salads, and the like. They accept cash or cards.

Its alright but generally not worth the wait. As a local there are other good historical restaurants with more responsive times. If you do manage to get a seat the food is pretty good, so go on off hours.

Love eating breakfast here. I have never gotten anything that was bad or that I had a problem with. Definitely a favorite.
