Snappy Stop

This is a drive up hamburger joint. Good burger, but frozen patty. Not fresh hand patties. See picture of burger. No inside seating. Parking lot with garbage can between restaurant and main highway (see pics). Good value, but I don't agree with another review calling their burgers as good as Five Guys. Fries were AWESOME, super hot and crisp, not real greasy (see pics). Well worth the trip!!!

Well, best to not over expect here. The meat non-juicy, an out of the freezer grey meat patty and small in comparison to the bun. However, the sauce and lettuce and tomato’s made it actually quite good minus the unexciting meat patty. The fry’s were seriously the best I’ve ever had for a fast food restaurant, soft and potatoe (y). If they had a freshly cooked meat patty, it would create a long following for sure.

Drove by this and thought “why not” let’s give it a try! It was a good choice! I ordered “combo 2” which is a double burger, fries and a drink! Burger was cooked to order and was nice and warm! Solid 4/5 for the burger! Fries were fries type thing!

Five Guys vibes with way better pricing! I love that it’s only drive thru, with fun character statues in the parking lot to have your meal with friends. I drive an hour & a half to eat this meal for only $10 & rotating deals. Check them out when in Roch!

I’ve stayed away from snappy stop for the last 15 years because of what previous employees used to tell me back in HS. But I went to school with the owners son and he encouraged me to come try it for myself, so I brought the family last week and tried it for myself. They have a small menu but that’s a good thing, they focus on what they are known for. The employees were friendly, also the owner was friendly and working hard right along side his employees. The food itself was decent for the price. A good value for your dollar. Not the best burger I’ve ever had but it was good and a good size for the combo price. My only critique is the french fry portion could be bigger. Ordered a large and it looked like a small too me. Other than that I think the food offers good value food for a low cost. Definitely worth a trip for a quick meal and a visit to a Rochester staple in the community.

I thought Snappy Stop was a good overall burger joint experience. The location and the drive-thru window make it quite convenient and quick to get your food order. I had the burger of the month, which was their regular Snappy burger with cry baby Craig's hot sauce as an extra sauce, and it was good. The prices are great for getting a solid, quick burger. I was got a chocolate malt as well. Friendly staff.

It's literally a quick drive thru to get a burger. Our daughter has a sensitive palate and the mayo was very vinegary. Tasted like cafeteria burgers. Hospitable staff and very quick service.

Not gonna lie...middle of the road burger joint, certainly not the best but not the worst either. What I liked: simple menu, burger was okay What I disliked: fries were soggy and greasy(more so than you would expect. The fries in my pic look good....thats not what I got...pale, limp, greasy). The Chocolate Malt....nope, not a malt, just a cup of Kemps ice cream. Lame-O. Kind of pricey for what you get and certainly not what I was expecting from a Rochester institution.

Love this place so much! I've been a fan since high school! The food is reasonable, tasty, and quick. I love how fresh everything is. This is definitely my go to when I'm in that idk, what do you want mood! This is a must try for sure! Service is fantastic. The drive through is so convenient and there's a good place to park nearby to enjoy your meal!

Good burgers. A little difficult to understand menu and specials. Would be easier if they offered Combos or Baskets. The one who took my order did his best but could have interacted more with my confusion with the menu.

Stopping there was quick, easy, and tasted really good. I had the double bacon burger and some fries the burger tasted how a burger should, so big and delicious that it leaves your mouth watering. Don't waist your time at Mc Donald's when you can experience this Rochester gem.

Great place, fries were kind of soggy but the burger 100% made up for it. I will come back again

Food was still excellent, as I hadn't been there in over 20 years due to not living nearby. Fries were AMAZING! Burger had great flavor! This yelp site needs to update prices, though, as prices were about twice that listed on this site menu.

I'm giving SS five stars because I LOVE their food, and love keeping my money local and being a small business supporter. But, for goodness sake, can we get a grown up size drink with a $10 combo?! The burger is so good, the fries are awesome, but the drink is WAY too small and really makes the combos seem like they're not much of a value. I'll still come for the burgers and fries, but I'm over stopping at the store or driving through the yellow arches for a $1 large soda. Love you guys regardless!

Food is very good. We have tried the triple and double with cheese and they are both excellent. Fries were very good but could have been crispier.

Best food in mn hands down I love this place the food is warm and so good and fresh toppings and beef and it's halal so if ur Muslim go try it out!!

When you are not looking to spend a lot of money or time, Snappy Stop has got your back. They might not give you exactly what you ordered, but they will definitely give you your food fast, hot, and greasy as all can be. Snappy Stop is the perfect place to go to when you are starving but I wouldn't recommend you to go out of your way to make sure you get some. The quality of the food and service is equivalent of a McDonalds or Burger King, so don't get your hopes up since it is a small business, unfortunately. The big downfall for me personally is cheese is a dollar extra for the snappy burgers and 50% of the time, they forget to put it on the burger so you are left with a hamburger instead of a cheeseburger even though you were charged an additional $1. The menu is simple and easy to understand and I love the idea but the staff doesn't seem to care about their work and it shows in the food. All in all, Snappy Stop is a good option if you are in a pinch, on a budget, and/or don't really care too much about the accuracy of your order if you personalize your item.

The food was ok for the price. You do get a decent amount of food for the price. I got the 3 Snappy burgers special. As you look at my photos, you can see a noticeable difference between the amount of bun, and the amount of meat. If I visit again, I will stack all 3 burger patties on one bun and eat the burger that way. At least then I'll be able to enjoy the burger some more, besides just tasting bun and lettuce.

This place doesn't mess around with fries. They fill the fry cup then pour even more into the bag! The burgers are delicious and the hot dogs remind me of Coney Island. Definitely the best fast food deal in town!

Don't judge a book by it's cover. Really good fast food, I know it's been said but the fries are the best around. Good burgers too! I try to make here as much as I can, highly recommended.

Fine. True to its name, this was a snappy stop. Burger and fries were fine, milkshake was disappointing (one of those ready-made ones you can get at the gas station).

Really good! I think the fries were the most impressive! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! The burger was also good. Way better then the burger you get at a McDonald's or Wendy's. I was pleasantly surprised!

Best burgers in town, in my opinion. The buns are light and Fluffy, meat is juicey, and it can come with everything on it. It seems like they introduce a new style of burger monthly or so, such as the John hardy burger. The service is nice and considerably timely. The location is decent, located over by the old K Mart. I like the aesthetic and how small and compact the building is and their large advertising status. It is a bit more expensive than mcdonalds, but worth it.

Really good food! We're new to the area and always looking for a good burger. We love In-N-Out and saw Snappy Stop was in comparison so we had to give it a try! Kind of pricy, but the food was hot and the service was friendly and quick- will get again!

This is the first place I ate when I moved to Rochester so it'll always have a special place in my heart. With that said, if you're craving a quick, cheap, greasy burger this is your place. The fries are great too!

Love this place, wish the north location didn't close. They are extremely fast and the burger/fries taste awesome. The burgers are California style, basically coming with shredded lettuce and the works. A little known tip I have come to utilize is to ask for Lawrys salt on the fries when you place your order; it gives them a little extra flavor and makes them irresistible!

i'm a big fan of Snappy stop love their chili dogs and burgers are really good too Ever since I've lived here 35 years, i've gone there! it's really fast and convenient for the drive up!

I am so disappointed in this place. They used to have one of the best burgers in town. It was always very fresh and tasted homemade. Now they increased the prices and decreased their quality. They changed the bun - horrible. The burger tasted frozen and is half the size. Even the toppings are smaller. I will not be back. I bet they don't last another year with this action !!!!!!!!!

Stopped by Snappy Stop once again. This time my son had the triple and I had the double. I can't say what the looked like as it was dark and we were driving, but they were wonderful!!! So glad we stopped. Service was super fast too. Def a recommendation.

Loved my cheese burger and the fries were the best I've had in years! Next time I'm getting the chocolate shake too! It's refreshing to see an old fashioned burger joint!

Fast service. I was the only car there at 2 pm They should get their fries crisp instead of hot and soggy. I've done scratch fries in several kitchens I've run so I know it can be done. And I parked 20 feet away to eat so soggy is how they served them. Burger: way more bun, lettuce, tomato and onion than meat. I think it's supposed to be the other way around.

I love supporting Mom and Pop shops so I decided to give Snappy Stop a chance and paid it a visit after a walk in the park. Overall, of the cheap, fast food restaurants around town- this is one of my favorites. 3.5 stars: Food 5 stars: Service Snappy Stop is a drive-through only type of location but since I just wanted a quick snack for the walk home, there I was standing in the drive-through lane making my order. I got a Snappy Burger, Chicken Nuggets, and a side of fries. The Chicken Nuggets was by far the center of the spotlight. They were scorching hot meaning they were just made for me! :) I typically only enjoy McNuggets but these at least rivaled them. The burger was good and simple- lettuce, onions, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, and a patty. I typically hate mustard but the mustard they use here isn't too pungent so it actually accentuated the flavor of the burger. If I were to change anything- it'd be the bun. It's a bit too thick and not springy- so it just gets smushed with every bite. Perhaps toasting the bun will help. The fries were alright too- they aren't too crunchy but the seasoning is just right- not too salty and not too bland. Service was terrific! The person taking my order was so happy with a smile on their face the whole time. I also checked-in to redeem the ice cream but since they no longer offered that ice cream at the location, they made other accommodations. They were really friendly!

Delicious and speedy! kinda expensive but so are most things these days. Workers were kind and make conversation with us in the drive thru while waiting for our food!

Snappy Stop is the spot for the fastest local food in Rochester. In other words, they are best burger drive-through joint in town. Affordably tasty burgers, fries, hot dogs, and more. Located east of South Broadway and Soldiers Field. I strongly suggest you seek Snappy Stop.

Went here once on a quick day trip to Rochester, if you're thinking about hitting up McDonalds or BK please pass it up and go here, the greasy delicious, fresh, and awesome burgers are too great to pass up for everyday fast food. This is burger on the go, so drive up, grab your burger, and get out of dodge!!! I suppose you can spend a few extra minutes admiring the unique architecture of the place too ;)

I like the snappy burgers. I like the fries. However, I would like to have more ketchup on my burger and at least some ketchup on my fries. For that reason, I specifically ask for some ketchup packets with my order. Once again today, and not for the first or third time, they ignored my request. If needed, I would pay extra for the ketchup. Instead, when I specifically ask if they included the ketchup and they flat out lie to me, it just guarantees that I'll no longer go back. I am done with Snappy Stop. They can keep their ketchup.

If you like fast food, you'll love Snappy Stop. Fast and friendly. We normally do not like fast food, so I'm giving a four-star rating based off of what we would give the restaurant if this wasn't the case. In our opinion, fast food places go (best to least favorite): 1. Krystal and White Castle 2. Snappy Stop and Culvers 4. Arby's 4. Burger King and Wendy's 5. Mcdonald's Pros: The hamburger had fresh tomato, lettuce, and a huge slice of white onion. The fries were some of the best we've eaten from fast food. Cons: Fast Food. Update: We had one of the Ice Cream Cups (free for Yelp users) the other night. Huge portion and really good. We were told that they no longer offer cones and they were out of chocolate (we had vanilla). Also, be very careful when you turn into Snappy Stop. There is a huge bump in the road between the main street and the drive through entrance that will really put a hurt on your car if you hit it going too fast.

There are at least 15 places that claim to have the best burgers in Rochester. In my opinion, that honor goes to the Snappy burger at Snappy Stop. Snappy is so good it almost makes me glad I get to go to the Mayo Clinic once a month or more just so I can stop and get a burger. Okay, I'd rather not go to the Mayo but this is definitely a positive as I never go to Rochester for any other reason. A friend brought me here about 10 years ago and I never forgot this wonderful burger. I made Snappy Stop a must do stop for our first trip down. When I have to fast for a test, Snappy is my first stop as soon as I can eat. Snappy Stop is a double drive through (one on each side of the small 2 story building) with a small menu (on par with In N Out burger), basically burgers, fries, pop and shakes, and that's all they need, they do them well. I like the double, it's the best ratio of meat to bun, a single is a little too bready, their buns are kind of fluffy. I get a double with extra cheese, extra mayo and no tomato, and it's like three bucks before tax! You get a burger you could easily buy for triple that in the Twin Cities and not question it. It's really a great burger. We had another burger while we were in Rochester at another place that's supposed to have the best cheeseburgers for a decade running according to some magazine, and has been voted one of the top 12 in the state (and the only one from Rochester on that list, so they cost $10/$15), and (spoiler alert!) in my opinion, The Snappy burger was better!

I like to stop and pick up a snappy burger and fries when I am in Rochester. Good burger....fresh veggies and good service.

It's a very tasty burger, i had the double which seems about the same as a McDs double. The taste is great due to the sause, lettuce, tomato and raw onion. Note! They are hot off the grill and carry a hefty dose of grease. Side note: The Diet Dew was a bit off, suggest they check their machine.

In the wasteland that is fast food, Snappy stop stands out as a refuge. This small, local burger joint does burgers and does them well. Good value and decent ingredients on a real bun (as opposed to the 'fluff' buns you get at most fast food places). I always enjoy their burgers and they have yet to balk at a special request or mess up an order (try to say that for most fast food..). If you want a decent burger at a good price eat here. And as an added bonus you will be supporting local business!!! Something everyone should do more of!

Absolutely love this place. The menu is really simple which I appreciate, the food tastes fresh, and the service is really quick. Definitely one of my favorite places to grab a bite in the city.

My husband loves this place. The price is good and the food tastes great. If you're looking for gourmet stuff, this isn't the place. This is were you go for no frills good food.

My favorite "fast food" burger in Rochester! Fries are amaaaaazing and the service is usually quick! The one thing that would make it better would be offering a lettuce wrap instead of a bun for a low carb option...other than that, it's flawless!

First time I have ever rated a place without eating there. We had just eaten somewhere else before finding this gem. The building is about the size of a Mexican border patrol shack on the U.S. border. Cars were lined up on each side of the hut to order the apparently good burgers. The large menus outside are simple and to the point. Looking forward to my next trip to Rochester for a try.

there's no way a burger from a small little drive thtu like this should be as good as it is. the veggies were really fresh, like, really good! made the whole experience way better. good portions on the toppings too. not overpowering. the patty tasted good, i know a frozen patty when i taste one, but it's a good one. the thing that let it down was the fries, they were not crisped at all and pretty greasy. other than that, this is a really great quick stop. really good ingredients, nice staff, good prices, fairly easy to get in an out of. doesn't make me feel like i wish i went somewhere else, like i do at say a McDonalds or a Burger King. although it's fast food, this is miles ahead.

Snappy stop is a nice feature to have located in a good spot in the middle of the city so it's not hard to find and the food is good. I'm a pretty big guy and the regular snappy stop combo is enough to fill me up just right!

I've heard so much about Snappy Stop and want to promote local restaurants. I was dismayed to observe that both employees I observed had their masks under their noses, rendering them useless. We are in a pandemic in a town where many people come when they're sick or they work with the sick. Risking exposing them is irresponsible. The burger was tasty. The fries were not crisp, but I attribute that in part to the fact that we drove a bit before eating.

This fast food stop Is just ok. Their burger toppings are great, great bun and condiment, but the meat is terrible! I have trried to like this place, but the meat stops me every time. If they could just improve the meat then they would be amazing!

Nice, greasy, old fashioned burger joint. You pull up to the drive through and order, oh I don't know, a bacon double cheeseburger or something (yum!). Then you pay at the window and get your food. And that's all there is to it. This is a cool place architecturally, but please note that there's no seating....drive through only. And although greasy, their food is so much better quality than McDonalds or Burger King....seemed fresher, with better ingredients, and there was more of it. Win, win.

Rochester native, grew up on Snappy Stop. Recently was in town for the first time in ten years and had to see if it lived up to my memories. Absolutely! The burgers are great for a fast-food joint, definitely well above any of the chains. Fries are a good version of frozen fries - little pieces of skin still on them, salted properly, etc. We LOVE Kathy's Homemade ice cream sandwiches, and this is one of the few places selling them. Price on the ice cream sandwiches has definitely gone up over the years, but burgers and fries are still pretty dirt cheap! Will definitely be back next time we're in town. So probably another 10 years :)

I had snappy stop several years ago and was not a big fan that day and I am happy to say i gave them another chance because it was a great burger at an awesome value. They were having a special three burgers for five dollars. I had three hungry people in the car so this was perfect for us. I added cheese...the burger will come how you want it. i of course just had lettuce, tomato, onion. It was filling and like burger made by mom. They are not greasy in any way shape or form. I do like my burgers a little juicier but for the price and what it was I was satisfied...

Yes, this is just a fast food place. But, it is a solid California style burger! Big city peeps, this burger is almost on par with Shake Shack! Its just a little drive through, and only has a few things on the menu, but try it out. Im telling you, it is good!

Finally made it to Snappy Stop is nothing more than a stop. The place is so small that two cars would fill up the side of the building.I had gone here after being told from a co-worker. Drove extra hour of crazy music with 3 guys lol..So we came right before the scariest day of the year (Halloween) so we started our meal with some Spooky burgers (only available during this time of year). They are not like California burgers, the place is Drive True ONLY...You want to make sure you order there fry's they are really good and California style. The burgers are good, but not great. One thing you should know is that they bungs are room temp so they don't warm them up or anything. The shakes are pre made gas station shakes so nothing special there as well. If I am in town I won't mind coming back but not worth for an hour drive to try them out.

Great burgers, and shakes are good too. Natural fries great. Dbl cheese with chili the best. Just the right amt without taking over your burger. Everything made to order and quick. Reasonable prices. Fun drive up the ramp...scenic friendly animals welcome you in.
