Worst experience that I’ve EVER had, at any convenience store, on Earth!! Have been yelled at by the same night-shift cashier, twice, in the span of a week. The night cashier thinks he owns the place, and now, based on my experiences, I think he does, or that he is friends with the owners.
I used to go to this convenience store all the time when it was a 7-11, and now I curse the day when the nice Indian owners decided to sell it to the current Sirian owners.
I like to visit convenience stores late at night, or very early in the morning, because that is when they are not busy, and I can take my sweet time choosing my Lotto scratchers.
The night cashier at this location is extremely rude to women, African Americans, Hispanics, and atypical individuals. He pretty much is the whole package… Racist, sexist, and anti-special needs/homeless communtiy package, that is.
The first time the above mentioned individual insulted me, and kicked me out of the store, I chose to give the store owners the benefit of the doubt, since I’d never had a problem with any of the staff at this location. That is, until last week, when we had a rainy spring day, causing me to have horrible allergies.
When I coughed, the cashier yelled at me and demanded that I leave the store, or come back with a mask. There was no “no mask, no service” sticker on the premises, so I had assumed that I’d be okay, especially since I had informed the cashier that I had allergies. The cahsier told me that it didn’t matter that I bad allergies, that I still had to leave the store, and return when I was wearing a mask.
One thing led to another, and I ended up being kicked out of the store. Later that day, at around 8:00 am, I went back to the store to speak with somebody in charge. The man that I talked to that morning was the store’s owner, who does not speak English. He seemed very polite and concerned about me, and even called his son on the phone so that I could talk to him instead, and then he translated.
The owner smoothed things over, and even gifted me a small chocolate, so that I could feel at ease. The owner even assured me that the employee in question would be reprimanded, or fired, because he has proven to be a horrible customer service worker.
When I went back to the store, at around midnight, I realized that the same cashier was there, more arrogant, pompous, rude, and ignorant as ever. When I asked him if his boss had spoken to him regarding our previous interactions, he laughed and said that nobody can do anything about it, because he is related to the family that owns the store.
Upon hearing the horrendous statement mentioned above, I decided to just ignore the cashier, and buy some lottery scratchers and a lighter for a friend of mine who was waiting for me outside.
As I was about to pay, the cashier made an extremely rude comment about me, which caught me off-guard. When I raised my voice at him, to defend myself, he yelled at me and told me he was calling 911. As be was doing that, I took out my phone to record him, which was a bad move on my part, because he then decided to push the button under/on the counter, and locked me inside the store for a about half a minute. . These 30 seconds were the longest 1/2 minute of my life. I panicked because the door was closed shut, and no matter how hard I tried to push it open, it remained locked.
The cashier finally remotely unlocked the door, and allowed me to leave. He did not physically harm me, but he did scare the beejeezus out of me, and caused me extreme anxiety and anger. I am a person who is protected by the ADA of 1990, which is a fact that I had already shared with both the cashier and owners of the store.
If I could give 0 stars, or negative stars, I’d definitely do it. Snappy’s on the corner of Stockdale Hwy and S Real Rd is the last convenience store I’d visit, even during a Zombie Epocalypse, if there were no other stores in a 3000 mile radius of this one.
