"The long wait for a table is a good clue that there’s something tasty ahead at Sneakers, the 35-year-old Winooski breakfast joint. Locals flock here for French toast dipped in Kahlua batter, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, omelettes, and cocktails." - Heather Platt

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sneakers Bistro, and what a fantastic experience it was! I'd heard good things, but the reality surpassed my expectations. Arriving for brunch, I was seated remarkably quickly, a testament to their efficient and friendly service. The menu itself was impressive, offering such a diverse range of options that I struggled to pick just one. I ultimately settled on the California Eggs Benedict, and it was simply incredible. Every element, from the perfectly poached eggs to the fresh avocado and hollandaise, tasted like it was crafted with top-quality ingredients. Beyond the delicious food, the atmosphere was genuinely welcoming, buzzing with a moderate level of happy chatter. I even spotted the quirky leg lamp, which added a fun touch! The coffee was excellent, and the service was consistently attentive without being overbearing – my water glass was always full. While I didn't encounter any issues, I noted their commitment to customer satisfaction even when facing minor challenges, which speaks volumes. The prices felt incredibly fair for the quality and portion sizes. Sneakers Bistro truly delivers on all fronts, and I'm already planning my next visit to explore more of their delightful menu. This is definitely a spot not to miss for breakfast or brunch!

Google
Fantastic food, quick service, and a really diverse menu. I finally got the chance to stop here for brunch. I arrived around 11 and was able to get a table within minutes. The menu had so many awesome items, and I ended up getting the California Eggs Benedict, which was incredible. Every component and ingredient was top quality. The prices were super fair as well and I can totally see myself coming back here for another brunch!

Google
A wonderful breakfast that was a total surprise. Everyone else was closed but Sneakers delivered. Everything was delicious. Homemade breads and turkey sausage. That sausage was the best I have ever had. Don’t miss out. Also you gotta love the leg lamp all dressed up😀

Google
My first time to Sneakers and it was excellent. Sat upstairs which was very quiet and had a fantastic meal. Fast, friendly service, very good coffee... it was everything I would want in a breakfast place!

Google
This is a great spot and look forward to coming back to try other items. The service was a little off but I don't think that's typical, we ordered drinks that didn't arrive until after the food came, which was annoying. We were told it was a cup shortage issue, which is odd but really I would have rather have been told so we weren't left wondering. I was also a little disappointed in chicken which was added to our breakfast burrito, it may have been included but if it was, I couldn't tell. Felt like a waste. Breakfast potatoes might have been the best I've ever had. Espresso White Russian was solid.

Google
I hadn't been here in quite some time and was glad to see not much has changed. The staff was friendly, the food came out quickly and was delicious. Great breakfast, highly recommended!

Lukas V.

Google
Wait staff gave priority to their liberal "friends" while there was a line of people waiting to be seated. When called out they were rude and disrespectful. Guess my $ will go elsewhere. 0 stars.

Google
Had a nice breakfast with my daughter. She didn’t care for power quinoa waffle and I agree after trying it (still got charged for it) I got her a regular waffle which she enjoyed. I had a egg white omelet that was tasty with home fries. The server was pleasant and the place was clean and tidy. I can recommend Sneakers if you are in the area.

Savannah C.

Yelp
Food here is delicious! And the homemade chai is one of the best I have EVER had. My boyfriend's eggs Benedict was his favorite he's ever had too. The upstairs view of Winooski is great, and our server was super kind when I asked them about how the chai was made there. Absolutely wonderful, and the prices are not too bad either ($50 with tip for two people's meals and drinks).

Emily P.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts I have had in 2024. A waffle with blueberry compote and lemon lavender whipped cream. Absolutely perfect. Service was quick and they were able to seat us within a reasonable timeframe for such a busy weekend (solar eclipse.) Highly recommend.

Ruth O.

Yelp
Sneakers Bistro is my go-to brunch place in the area. It's walkable, and there's enough street parking nearby. The one thing I don't love is that you can't make reservations. I saw another review that said sneakers "can't handle the traffic" and this is true. Definitely not the place to be at 1130am on a weekend. If you're going on a high traffic day, arrive at open. The eggs Benedict here are really fantastic and the primary reason I love it here. But some other great reasons are the drinks; the coffee drinks are decadent, they offer vegetarian and dairy free options for almost everything, and the brunch cocktails are creative and fun. It's a fantastic location for a casual brunch gathering. The staff here are also really lovely. So friendly, and always offered my dog a bowl of whipped cream and water. It's well lit and the portions are large. It's important to note that they are not diligent about cross-contamination. Celiacs and people with severe allergies be aware of this. Picture feature Breakfast Burrito with potato wedges and iced apple cider, eggs california vegetarian eggs Benedict (beyond sausage) with potato wedges and oatmilk hot chocolate

Thomas S.

Yelp
The only brunch place we ever really go to in the area. The food is always good and the staff is friendly and attentive.

Carlos S.

Yelp
I was looking forward to this place but came out very disappointed. From the quality of the food to the service, I wouldn't recommend it. We ordered the benedicts but the eggs were basically hard boiled. They definitely don't know how to poach eggs. The service was awful. Our waitress was uninterested and we had to call her to the table to even refill the coffee, something when eating at a diner should be automatic. Best part of breakfast were the home fries. The rest was forgettable. Street parking but you have to pay $1 hour.

Jaime E.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal, I just wouldn't recommend coming on a holiday weekend or a graduation weekend/Monday. It's a lovely small business that can't handle the traffic. You can put your name on a waitlist via their website, but then you have to be diligent about letting them know you've arrived (our young family members were anything but diligent!) Get the pancakes! They were actually better than my own homemade ones! If you're vegan, the hash was soooo tasty! Everything was absolutely delish. Even the coffee!

Karen A.

Yelp
One of our favorite breakfast places. Lots of vegetarian options and they always have interesting specials. I highly recommend!

Gary M.

Yelp
Overall a nice experience. The omelets were fresh and sour dough bread very nice. Only irritating thing is they charge extra for EVERY CUP of coffee you drink! What kind a crap is that??? They don't even tell you up front. Pfft next time somewhere else.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Very friendly service. Nice selection of foods and all with veggie options. We had the hash. It is Smokey in a good way. The peppers are chopped finely, which is good because otherwise green pepper ruins it for me Lots of Benedict options Good chai latte Fruit side all with ripe choices even in winter Bright space

W. W.

Yelp
So, the last time I reviewed Sneakers was well before they renovated. Twice. The second time, they added an upstairs. GAME. CHANGER. Now you can go and there might still be a line but it will likely move faster than before! Don't forget to check their online waitlist system--you can put your name in before you get there. Since they changed the system, I can more appropriately rate their food. The last time I went, they had a shrimp and grits that was beautifully made, with lots of butter and shrimp. I couldn't finish it...and that's the nice thing about Sneakers: the portion sizes are still there. Granted, the cost is kind of high, but you're getting what you want. And if what you want is a basic breakfast, they have that. If you want something more interesting, they have that. Coffee is endless and I really appreciate the super nice waitstaff who kept pouring...maybe I didn't need that extra three cups but between the food, the table of eight they set up especially for us upstairs, and the great service, I couldn't help myself! Overall: GREAT now that they have more space!

Rosemary M.

Yelp
i had a bad experience here several years ago, and avoided the place until recently. And now we happily go back weekly, and have never had a less than stellar meal. The specials are truly special as well as creative and very very tasty. The breakfast burrito is a wonderful mix of flavors and comes with home fries. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the food is served quickly. It's worth the wait!

Lee M.

Yelp
Food was okay. Had chicken waffle with sausage gravy and eggs. Should have asked for gravy on the side because waffle gravy mush is not very appetizing. The fried chicken was too dry, gravy was tasty though. Irish coffee was way too milky. Hash dish was meh. Place is cute, service adequate, although someone seemed unhappy since dishes were crashing loudly into collection bins. Not sure the food is appealing enough to try it again.

Alan D.

Yelp
Great service, great food, and great atmosphere! If you're in Burlington, you should definitely go here to eat! Their eggs benedict is absolutely fantastic!

Lynn R.

Yelp
We will certainly be heading here again for breakfast I had poached eggs on sourdough toast with a side of bacon. Everything was delicious, the coffee was good and the service was fabulous! Can't wait to go again and try some of the other items on the menu.

Benjahmin B.

Yelp
This is a go to place if you want a delicious breakfast/brunch any day of the week. I would recommend the eggs Benedict but most everything on the menu is great. Seating can fill up fast so get there early.

Katie H.

Yelp
This is a solid diner serving creative but tasty food in the middle of downtown Winooski. Even on a Monday at lunch, they were pretty popular with the locals. We were lucky enough to get both a parking spot and a table outside and enjoyed a beautiful sunny brunch under an umbrella. My husband got the chicken and waffles, while I got just a side of the Kahlua French toast since we weren't very hungry. The chicken and waffles was pretty good. Not excellent, but decent in terms of flavor and portion. I found myself wishing the chicken was crispier and there was more sausage gravy. But the bites I did have with a little chicken, waffle, runny egg yolk, and sausage gravy were very tasty indeed. My French toast was fine. I thought it needed more Kahlua flavor, but it was nice and eggy without being too sweet. For a side, I thought the price and portion was appropriate. Finally, we couldn't leave without getting a shake. My husband's chocolate milkshake was sadly pretty bad. It tasted like cheap soft serve mixed with Hershey's chocolate syrup, not at all what we were expecting. We didn't end up finishing it. It's sad that that was our last impression of the place, but we'd still go back and try more of the menu.

Don L.

Yelp
As Tina Turner said, this is simply the best, better than all the rest. And the staff is amazing!

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Great for breakfast, lunch or brunch. Locally sourced and delicious food land wonderful service. Small but cute spot in Winooski circle. Highly recommend!

Elle P.

Yelp
Food and VT maple latte were fire! I highly recommend this place for some brekky goodness. My friend got their eggs Benedict and I got the special #2 (eggs Benedict over zoodles chorizo hash). It was so flavorful but not overwhelming, just a delicate symphony of textures and balanced notes from the veggies, egg yolk with the salsa verde. I can't wait to try their other dishes!

Casey E.

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Service was great. Our waiter was very helpful and kind. Ambiance is fun and bright. Definitely recommend.

Ben M.

Yelp
This is an exceptionally good breakfast spot. Their home fries are extra yummy - a great blend of spices with onions as well. Build your own omelets are also good with a variety of ingredients. Coffee was great as well. My wife enjoyed the Kahlua French Toast, although it could have been more Kahlua-forward. Ryan took great care of us!

Jill M.

Yelp
From the hostess, my server and the food it was an all around excellent experience. I highly recommend! The Honey Vanilla Latte and Sneakers Famous Eggs Benedict were delicious!

Corey M.

Yelp
Feels like your average diner in both appearance and food, though it is nice to be right off the street. The staff were kind and answered any questions with ease. I wish I liked the food more but it looked and tasted pretty meh; the place does seem to be regarded well by people but for the price I wouldn't see myself going back. My 4 star rating is because I did have a good experience (per Yelp's system), my purely food rating would be "OK" at 3 stars but I feel that does a disservice to a good group of folks so that's why I've set it at 4. I'm sure some people are wondering "why mention purely food rating if that's not what you're setting it as?" My answer to that is some people go to places solely for food and couldn't care less about anything else so the distinction here is important for this place. Otherwise, just go into it with reasonable expectations of average diner food with a nice staff and feel and maybe the price will be more palatable.

Laura S.

Yelp
Reserve online! It will help you avoid waiting. Their food has been and always will be the best breakfast in the area. I used to be a chef, so I know! All the staffs I have been served upon has always provided excellent service. The environment is always warm and friendly.

Tracy R.

Yelp
We live around the corner, so this is a regular spot for us. They do a slightly elevated version of classic diner, brunch fair. Never disappoints. But be prepared to wait for a table on the weekend.

James A.

Yelp
Long wait for Sunday brunch, but it was worth it. Got a bit of everything, the pancakes were a bit too salty but quite fluffy. French toast was good, as were the sausage, egg, and home fries. Got a maple milkshake as well, that was very tasty.

Adam L.

Yelp
Great food , fair prices , pleasant happy staff . Seems like a reliable non pretentious breakfast spot with good espresso . The best parts of a breakfast diner and a snooty well appointed coffee house without the typical downsides (mediocre food, insane prices , blah service , etc) of either type of place .

Caitlin H.

Yelp
Always a pleasure eating here for brunch!! Most of the time there is a wait so I suggest putting your name on the waitlist thru yelp!

Matt B.

Yelp
I knew we had to come here while visiting Burlington so we made reservations for Sunday, 9/19. The whole restaurant has a very local vibe and feels like home in a way. The place itself was very clean and charming and our waiter was very accommodating (and also kept my coffee refilled at every turn) I loved the upstairs seating area where we dined looking out onto the Winooski streets below. I had the classic benedict which was great and I especially loved the artichoke pesto (something I had never tried before) The homefries were fresh and crispy, the eggs were done well and the steak omelette we tried was immensely filling. Next time I'm in Vermont I'll have this place on my radar once again.

Miranda M.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed everything I had here the Blueberry lemonade was so refreshingly good. The ambiance is nice as well.

Caroline R.

Yelp
Yummy food and good service! I got the chicken and waffles, bacon was super thick. Chill inside too

Mia R.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere and food was excellent. Bread was homemade. Real Vermont cream for the coffee. Nice touch with the artichoke pesto on the eggs Benedict. Wonderful menu with lots of great choices for our party of four. Waiter was great and nice and very hot (the four of us agree with that statement and hope we do not offend). :)

Michelle M.

Yelp
The food is amazing and it's a neat little place. The servers are attentive and kind.

Margarita G.

Yelp
Sneakers has always and will always be a great place to have breakfast! The service is commendable and I love the atmosphere. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Marissa R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast during our trip to Vermont. All in all, the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the Kahlua-dipped French toast with home fries and subbed the eggs for fruit (there is an up-charge for this). The French toast tasted like normal French toast would, and the inside was a bit gooey. The home fries stole the show by being the tastiest item on my plate (and they're vegan!). My boyfriend ordered chicken & waffles (no gravy) and wasn't impressed; the waffle was just "okay" and the chicken was mediocre. On the other hand, service was outstanding! We joined the Yelp wait list, which was an easy process overall. We were seated 10 minutes later than expected, but we weren't in a rush. Our server, Hannah, was bright & friendly and checked on us often (5 stars for Hannah!). Overall, if I was in the area again, I would try a different place for breakfast. This place is probably great for locals, but we didn't get that "wow" factor and deemed it an average meal.

Cela G.

Yelp
Ohhhhhh myyyy gahhhhhhhh!! My toes haven't curled like that in forever. Had the two egg breakfast but added a pancake with fruit on it on the side. The bartender was so helpful and attentive. The home fries were prolly the best I've had and the pancake was delicious. This was the first time I didn't finish my bacon in order to have room for my pancake. They get pretty busy so if you're A big group I'd recommend calling ahead to be put on the waitlist. I was sat down right away at the bar. It's a small establishment but definitely worth it. Bill came out to about 15 bucks with a ice coffee. Not too shabby. There a bar down the street as well as a brewery walking distance. There was street parking but not many spots. A must visit when in Burlington. Take a walk down to the falls afterwards.

Scott E.

Yelp
Best breakfast and brunch in the Chittenden County area. Try the California Benedict even if you're not vegetarian.

Patrick F.

Yelp
It was the very first place we went to eat after moving to Vermont. Overall, it was cramped but homey. We went on a very busy morning, but honestly the service, and food, were good. Nothing overly impressive, but quick, easy, homey food. Just needs a little more space... which if your packed, that's not a bad thing. Will I return? More than likely since I live three blocks away from them.

Mary L.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance and staff. The matcha waffle was tasty. I could taste the maple VT maple latte. They have outdoor seating and are dog friendly. Definitely will go again soon.

Angela G.

Yelp
We enjoyed a delicious brunch here! Make reservations on Resy ahead of time so you can get seated right away as it's a smaller restaurant so you might have to wait. I love that they have specials that change up. We ordered one of the specials which was the sweet potato risotto cakes with artichoke pesto, asparagus & red pepper Holland side. DELICIOUS!! We both agreed this was the favorite dish because it was unlike any breakfast dish we tried before. We also got the California Benedict which was also really good. The eggs Benedict was perfect, I loved the combo on the avocado and veggie sausage. Highly recommend! We had a hard time choosing what to order so I will definitely be back.

Mindi M.

Yelp
This place had so many good reviews, we knew we were in for a treat!! We were promptly seated and given water and menus, our drink order taken......... and then we sat and sat and watched our waiter Zach pass by us several times. When our coffee finally came we received what you see in the first picture. We finally flagged down a different waitress to take our order and get us "hot" coffees, they were promptly served in what is the 2nd picture. Our food was just ok, not what we had anticipated from the reviews. The waitress that recovered our experience made the difference between 3 stars and 1. Better luck to you all!!!

Megan B.

Yelp
It's been a little while since we went here but the breakfast was incredible. My husband had been up for something else and recommended we go here. The only bad thing was the bees attracted to the real maple syrup. I had the vegetarian hash and it was way too much food with tempeh root vegetables and quinoa with two poached eggs. The coffee was amazing. My husband had the specialty omelette with the kielbasa and finished it all.

Amanda J.

Yelp
What's not to L.O.V.E about this place!!!! My husband and I had to make an unexpected trip to Burlington,VT to have our camper repaired so we decided to stay a few days and explore. My husband is serious about his breakfast so whenever traveling we do an extensive search on both yelp and google to find who's got the best reviews in that particular area. Frankly, Yelp is my go to for pretty much any establishment we're planning to visit. Any who, Sneakers reviews were top notch so we made reservations here for our first rise and shine. Sneakers did not disappoint!!!! My Husband ordered an Omelette, a Belgian Waffle, and a Maple Iced Latte. I ordered the California Bennie, a side of Berries and Banana, and the Honey Vanilla Iced Latte. ALL was absolutely DELISH!!!! Talk about fresh and tasty!!!! The food was made to perfection. This place is by far one of the best breakfast joints we've ever had the pleasure of eating at. Unforgettable for sure! They definitely set the bar pretty high :) The atmosphere is pretty chill. Our first time eating here we hadn't stuck with our original reservations so we had to wait a few, which was no biggie because it was totally worth the wait. You definitely want to make reservations. Pretty sure they encourage you to do so. We use the Open Table app for those. We sat upstairs for our first visit and then got to sit downstairs for our other two visits. Yes, of the four mornings we stayed in Burlington we chose Sneakers for breakfast for three of those mornings, THAT's how amazing this place is. Even their coffee stands out amongst the rest. The waitstaff is wicked friendly and professional. We can't wait to come back!!!!

Mohammed E.

Yelp
Awful service at the door. Extremely rude and offensive. I just had to leave regardless of the food.

Varun D.

Yelp
Fantastic breakfast/brunch spot. Made reservations ahead of time because I read lots of reviews talking about how busy and popular they are. Was glad I did because they did seem to be doing brisk business around brunch time on a Sunday. They offer outdoor seating as well as socially distanced indoor seating. The indoor seating on both levels of the restaurant is very well spaced out keeping in mind covid precautions. All the staff were also wearing masks and gloves and were seen regularly cleaning surfaces while we were there. We were seated as soon as we showed up for our reservation which was nice. The wait staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. In terms of food the bravocado sandwich absolutely hit it out of the park. All the ingredients came together perfectly with none of the flavors (particularly the scrambled egg) overshadowing the others. It was so good I would have got a second one if I wasn't already full. The kahlua french toast was also fantastic as many other reviewers have mentioned. Even better when drizzled with some maple syrup. Omelette was good as was the veggie hash (a bit on the dry side but I asked for my poached eggs to be replaced with over hard so that was my fault). The bloody Marys looked like a tantalizing prospect as well but couldn't indulge because had to drive after. One of those places where you can see what the fuss is about.

Isaiah M.

Yelp
Stepped in here while visiting the capital and left repping their brand! A not so hidden gem with mixed varieties. We stopped in for breakfast and had some must haves; strawberry hot chocolate & Kahlua french toast, yes your 12 year old can have this, but not the hot chocolate... fresh strawberries and strawberry vodka! Omelette's are traditionally served and well accompanied with home fries. Definitely a place to try more than once!

Suman M.

Yelp
Delicious and great choices! One of our favorites for takeout especially. Highly recommend! Cowboy hash Benedict is my personal go to!

Hannah C.

Yelp
Amazing Sunday morning breakfast. Seated immediately and the waitress was super friendly. The food was so delicious! The omelette portion was huge, I took half home to finish for lunch. Great atmosphere and love the seating area outside.

Doug C.

Yelp
Never a bad experience. Been here more times than I can count. Staff is very friendly and the food holds up to the hype. Love this place!

Patricia S.

Yelp
The food is really genuinely amazing, and there's typically not a wait but i do recommend making a reservation FOR INSIDE. The food and staff are great but the outdoor seating is absolutely overrun with yellow jackets. you have to be VERY careful eating your food with how many or them are covering everything, or you might end up putting a bee in your mouth. Love the food, classic burlington restaurant, but you will be fighting for your life if you sit outside.
