New Orleans’s Best Sno-Ball Stands | Eater New Orleans

"Sno-La took the ice cream stuffed sno-balls and raised the bar by switching that ice cream out for cheesecake. Plus, the huge flavor list hits decadent heights with the famous Chantilly cake, a New Orleans original; Oreo cheesecake; and Tiffany’s blue box. Ask about catering and sno-ball tasting parties." - Eater Staff

Happened to be in the area and so this Snow Ball place. A delicious and unique place for snow ball enthusiasts. This place is quite popular and busy. Show, kids were having fun with colorful tasty snow balls.

This is a pretty chill snowball stand to check out. You do have to eat outside since inside is only for ordering. They only allow 6-8 people inside at a time because of how small the place and the lines do tend to get long, but the service was still nice & quick. We got a small Super Strawberry Lemonade Snowball ($8.25). It was really good! It was a little pricey, but I do get it since it was a special snowball & had added freshly chopped strawberries to it as well. Overall, I’d come back. It’s a nice place to check out if you’re craving something sweet during a hot day in Louisiana!

My first time there ans I'll be back!!. It's pricy, but it's to be expected since the Supremes are filled with cheesecake filling. I ordered the Tiffany Blue and it was great! Can't wait to go back and try other flavors. I really liked that the shop was super clean and organized. The people were polite as well.

Not being from New Orleans I discovered the snowball stand a couple of years ago. Definitely the best snowballs I’ve ever had. I recently had to start watching my sugar intake 🙁 and figured I’d try the sugar free. I tried the sugar free wedding cake and it had a bitter aftertaste so I didn’t each much of it and I’ll have to shop around on the sugar free snowballs. Not sure if all stands carry the same sugar free flavors but I’ll see. If you don’t have to watch your sugar 😁 then definitely come here and get cheesecake or other yummy stuff added as the regular flavors snowballs are delicious!

Google
Snowballs were good. I was happy to see they were open. Customer service was great. $27 for 4 snowball was on the high end.

Decided to try a new sno ball stand because it was closer to where i was at. Let’s just say I’ll never come here again because the cash register person was very rude. Didn’t understand what under tone she had going on but ignored it and was very upset that i spent money here. After fixing our sno balls she just holds it up and doesn’t say anything about who the snow ball is for . Not to mention the place is very small so it’s hard to hurry and grab napkins a spoon and straw in the mist of us doing all of that she’s decided to ask us “if something wrong “ as if we are waiting too long whne all we were doing is trying to gather out things to leave . Her attitude had me and my family very uncomfortable very unwelcoming I’ll never be back here again.

Google
The best snowballs I've ever had in my life! The ice is incredibly soft and the syrups are so flavorful. Excellent customer service. Must try the Chantilly Cake. Their cheesecake is to die for! I'm from New Orleans but was never a fan of snowballs until I tried SNO-LA. Pictured: Oreo Cheesecake and Chantilly Cake

Google
Literally terrible every time I go. Paid $10 for a chantilly snowball and they gave it to me falling apart. Off the bat I lost 90% of my toppings I paid for because they fell onto the counter. Never enough juice either and skimps out on the amount of topping for the price. SO SO SO DISAPPOINTED! My snowball was also put into a much much larger cup to stop the spillage and all that did was make it harder for me to eat it let alone take it out the cup. I can’t believe they are charging $10 for such a mess. If I could rate it 0 stars I would…

Yelp
One of my favorite snowball spots. Customer service is great, they work hard and are efficient. It might be busy on a hot day and with limited indoor space expect to wait outside but the quality is worth it. For the price and extra that you get on top I recommend!

Yelp
Friday is always snoball day for our kiddos and Sno-la is our 8-year-old's favorite snoball stand to hit-up. From the flavors, to the texture of the ice, she even loves the cheesecake stuffing! The creativity here is strong, from the Chantilly Cake drizzled with vanilla and strawberry flavors, stuffed with cheesecake and topped with condensed milk, strawberries and blueberries; to the Oreo Cheesecake drizzled with Oreo cream flavor, stuffed with Oreo cheesecake and topped with Oreo crumbles and whipped cream; and to our daughter's favorite Root Beer Float drizzled with root beer flavor, stuffed with vanilla ice cream and topped with whipped cream. We've yet to be disappointed with any flavor. The only negatives here is no seating and these are the most expensive snoballs around. Quality is worth it, yet we do not go here as often as our kiddos want do to the price tag.

Yelp
I really loved the flavors and how stacked they were. The only thing I did not like is how it made me feel. I think they left the condensed milk or cheesecake out or something but it messed my stomach up and instantly too. Other than that flavors are great and it's little small place in and out.

Yelp
Legendary and right on time on a hot summer day or a freezing winter afternoon, these snowballs are always right!!!

Yelp
DELICIOUS! I'm shocked I am just now getting to Sno-la since I attended college just up the street. I tried the Chantilly stuffed snoball and nachos and cheese. The Chantilly stuffed snoball was divineeeeee. It was fully coated in syrup with creamy cheesecake and condensed milk. Despite the richness, it was not heavily sweet--just sweet enough. The fruit were fresh tasting! I loved everything about it!! The nachos and cheese were great! Smooth cheese flavor and crunchy chips. Couldn't ask for more. Customer service was fine. My only caution is for wheelchair users. There is a moderately steep step-up that may impede access. It may be best to go with someone to ensure service.

Yelp
I love there stuff Chantilly snowballs it's absolutely the best. I give this place a 10/10.

Yelp
We took some out of town guests here looking for a mid day snack. We were met inside by excellent customer service explaining their menu. I remember telling my wife how cute the place was and how functional it appeared. First time we ever had stuffed cheesecake sno-balls. 5 out of 5. Great staff, great service, great treats. Bravo.
google avatar

Brett F.

Yelp
The deserts were delicious. We tried the Oreo cake and the snola special. The small was more than enough in my opinion. There was only one employee which had to be challenging since we waited in line for 30 mins. The attendant was super nice.

April W.

Yelp
The flavors and the ice are amazing! It's my favorite snowball place when we go to New Orleans.
google avatar

Rick D.

Yelp
Legit yum yum. Took the streetcar down and found this place. You can get snow cone with a slice of cheesecake in it! Kids got it and was instantly a favorite.
google avatar

Chandler G.

Yelp
Severely overpriced. No seating, minimal space in shop, the menu is on the outside door... i think the branding is good. But for these prices every snoball should be unique and have a snola touch. I paid almost $5 for a kiddie size traditional snoball. I didn't see the value at all. Service was good.. not spectacular or special.
google avatar

Daniel Dat N.

Yelp
Sno-la is such a cute place. They do not have much room inside but that is ok. The location is great for walking and eating snowball. Their favors were unique and i love how you can get real fruit added to your snowball too. The staff were friendly and patient with me as i look dumbly at the menu. They gave us good recommendation and overall my friend and I are happy with the snowball.

Yelp
I missed the Causeway location but got in town and had to check it out. It didn't disappoint at all that wedding cake creme one like lawdy it was on point. Yum yum. Recommend this one to anybody.

Yelp
Amazing flavors and creativity. My boys love coming here a treat from being good at school.
google avatar

Keke T.

Yelp
Their snowballs are definitely top of my list. The Chantilly snowball is full of berries, whipped cream, condensed milk, and ice cream ( I may have paid extra for that). They don't have any seating area for those wondering, but you get to watch them make it in front of you. Service was soo nice! Menu had a great selection to choose from and prices were competitively average. I wish the inside was a little more updated, but then again that's what makes local Nola spots traditional and give them character. All in all, I love coming here for snowballs.
google avatar

Shantal W.

Yelp
If you looking for a unique treat or a quick snack, sno-la is your stop! They have snow cones, snow cone stuffed with cheesecake, nachos, and more! The customer service is great as well! Chantilly - 5/5. It's a chantilly cake inspired snow cone with a scoop of cheesecake in the middle! How wild is that!!! They cover the outside with fresh blueberries and strawberries to take it to the next level! It was a quick stop before we relaxed at the river. Definitely will be back here soon.
google avatar

Chef RaNeisha M.

Yelp
Not the best experience, but the girls were polite and service was quick! I've been told to try Pandora! Main complaint was the ice wasn't even covered in syrup flavors .. I had more sweet cream and plain ice than anything!
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
I have been trying to get to Sno-la for quite a while... schedules were hectic and the Harrison location (I just learned) is closed. Finally had a free day on the weekend to have a leisurely family outing. Hands-down our new favorite snowball spot. The ice is soft and the flavors are PHENOMENAL!! I was skeptical at first about trying a cheesecake stuffed snowball, but when I heard they had a Mardi Gras flavor I had to try it. You will not be disappointed or dissatisfied. Even the traditional flavors will wow you. Filling and refreshing. Get You Some

Yelp
Second time visiting place was clean , staff was friendly and fresh fruit was so tasty

Yelp
We tried Sno-la due to a recommendation from our Uber driver on the way to another place to get a sno-ball. It was very hot outside so I found this refreshing.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick service and she made my snowball perfectly! Might be back tomorrow. The store is also located in a fairly convenient spot. Overall was excellent.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
All the other snow cone places I wanted to go were closed, so we opted for this place. There were a lot of cool combinations to choose from, so had high hopes, especially with the positive reviews. We chose the Chantilly Cake. The ice was thoroughly soaked with the flavors, so it was good that I could taste them, but it became too sweet. And, the addition of the cheesecake was too much. If I were to go back, I would get a simple snow cone with just the flavors.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
100/10! We had the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake stuffed snow cone and the Oreo cheesecake stuffed snow cone. They were both phenomenal! Can't wait to eat my way through the whole menu.
google avatar

Noodle T.

Yelp
I gave them a try. Nope, it ain't worth the hype. I'm a huge fan of snowballs but this ain't it. When I saw the line outside I was like "yes!" I had the most dry snowball EVER!! I took the straw but didn't even need it Sno La could have kept it. Never heard of paying taxes on a snowball before so that was new to me. Normally if a snowball is $3.00 you pay $3.00. I am highly disappointed to say it was my 1st time. I gave 2 stars because the cashier was friendly and it was clean. That's it! I ate the snowball bc I wasn't wasting $9 for nothing but nope I won't be back there. Sorry Sno La!

Camren P.

Yelp
It was really good! I enjoyed the flavoring and texture. Not just any snow ball. The flavor combinations they have are also really cool

Yelp
My Husband, Son , and I went here after a quite bite to eat last night. The Sno- Balls was not blended well with the cheesecake . Uptown was not as tasty as Causeway . Causeway was meticulously blended . However we was not elated The Staff was nice . Sno- La on Causeway was so good and smooth . We will not return to Uptown and you all have to be consistent and bring the Customers back . Not run them away

Yelp
Great place. And we allllllllll know how much I LOVEEEEEEE a snowball. I mean it's sweet & cool & dessert-like all at the same time. I wonder if this place is open year round like my Favorite Snowball Stand... Hmmmm. Anyway, Sno-La UPT is great because not only is it near my place of employment, but it also in one of fav parts of town, UPTOWN or FRONT OF TOWN (learned that from my granny)!!!!! Talk about gourmet snowballs... I mean this place takes the cake, Pun intended!!! Cheesecake in your snowball and I quote "where they do that at" end quote. Delicious with a Capital D!!!! So many concotions to choose from or you can make your own. If you can't make your own, there's a wall with 'pre-created/designed' snowball mixes, way cool. Cool NOLA centered name such as: Fat Tuesday, Zulu, Pour me something mister some other nifty names as well. Pricing is in line for a gourmet snowball; I mean BYE-BYE regular snowball... Hello to snowball plus, snowball extraordinare, snowball DYNO-MITE!!!! Outdoors there's even a seating area for us lookie-lous. Yasssss!!!!!! Street parking is what's available. Sidenote: there's a rewards app to record your purchases; you can get cool discounts & all that jazz, check it out.

Yelp
Man!!!! You wanna talk about something amazing! My goodness. This Chantilly with cream is amazing! I'm so happy the young lady ordered one before me.
google avatar

Jana W.

Yelp
The cheesecake stuffing was surprisingly delicious. It was smooth, light, but flavorful. Not like the chunk of cheesecake stuffed in the middle I was expecting. Guy making them was super personable, kind, informative, and super professional all around. Ice is smooth and the place is clean. Definitely recommend the Chantilly snowball.
google avatar

Teresa B.

Yelp
First time ever trying them on this random Saturday. They were pretty good. I got the sno-LA favorite, which is red velvet flavor with cheesecake in the middle. I honestly couldn't tell if it was really cheesecake or cheesecake ice cream, but I think it was real cheesecake but maybe French style because it wasn't as firm as I was hoping it'd be. This ice was smoothly shaved vs some of the other places I've had but I MIGHT like the other harder ice better just cuz it lasts longer lol. But they have unique flavors and things so I'd say if you're looking for something new try them.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
There is just really nothing else I can say about SNO-LA. By far the best snowballs in the curry of NO and probably the best in the State.
google avatar

Allison N.

Yelp
Been here plenty of times but this 1 New girl didn't know what she was doing she didn't put extra fruits that we paid for !!!! And I didn't wanna make a big scene so I just left and it was packed in there

Olivia T.

Yelp
They was very fast and friendly. Probably one of the best snowballs I ever had. We didn't have to wait long either .
google avatar

Kimberly J.

Yelp
Honestly, I was prepared to hate this Sno-ball. I had a cheesecake stuffed snoball (the unique draw of this Sno-la) before and was not thrilled with the combination. I went back today, ordered a regular snoball with condensed milk and I have to say, this place ranks right up there with the best of New Orleans Sno-ball makers. I took a change with the Key Lime Cream flavor which looked unnaturally florescent with condensed milk. Without the distraction of a too cold, gooey cheesecake center, this is just a dang good snoball. Super soft, fine ice and the exact flavor I was hoping for. I was skeptical with the amount of lime green syrup added but despite my assumptions, the syrup was not too sweet. I guess they know what they're doing. Upsides to Sno-la, great location (for me), a really large and unique variety of flavors, plus toppings and fillings you don't see elsewhere like cheesecake, whipped cream, fresh fruit, cookies, etc. I feel confident enough in their quality now that I might even give cheesecake another try. The Berry Chantilly looks really appealing! Two thumbs up Sno-la!
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Very unique and I'm glad that I read yelp reviews about going here. We tried the cotton candy, tres leches and root beer float. The tres had cheesecake inside and was so different from a regular snow cone. All the cones had an abundant amount of flavor. Can't wait to go back!

Zachary D.

Yelp
WORTH THE 6 YEAR WAIT!!! I first heard about Sno-La when I first visited New Orleans in 2016. This was back when they had the location in Metairie. Our Lyft driver at the time asked if we were going all that way just for a snowball and he didn't feel right taking our money to go that far and come right back for a snowball. So he drove us to a local place that was good, but I always wanted Sno-la. My wife and in-laws have been here since then and would tell me about it. This past weekend I made my way back to the NOLA and Meade the trek to Sno-La. I didn't even know what to get and asked the nice lady behind the counter for a recommendation. We decided on the Chantilly Cake and my wife got the Oreo cheesecake. My mouth was watering as I saw layer upon layer of flavor poured onto the ice. When I got my spoon and took the first scoop, it was more than delicious. I'm used to snowballs being just refreshing, but this was a rare time when the snowball was RICH with flavor. The scoop of cheesecake in the middle is a great surprise that enhances the experience. I had a couple scoops of the Oreo cheesecake and it reminded me of the first time that I ever had Oreo cheesecake. After k finished my cup, I went back and got a kid's sized "Pour and Something Mister". It was full of flavor even in a kid's sized cup. I'm not a fan of banana flavors, but the banana foster was the highlight of the 3 flavors. Sno-La is my go to desert spot in New Orleans. I will always go all that way for a Snowball!!!! Thank you very much!!
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Sno-La has Fast service and a great selection of flavors especially with the stuffed cheesecake. We had the Tres Leches stuffed with ice-cream and the blueberry cream cheese snowballs. Both were awesome and the ive was soft felt like eating ice cream. Ill definitely be frequenting this spot this summer.
google avatar

Yelp
So I lied about trying something new every time. I can't seem to stray from my stuffed strawberry lemonade. It is SO GOOD. I have had the berry Chantilly cake, which I think is the most popular and I really like it. BUT the tanginess of the lemonade flavor paired with the chunks of strawberries make it hard for me to stray from my go-to snowball. I have successfully gotten my family hooked on them. My brother had the Oreo and he enjoyed it. My aunt and mom both got the berry Chantilly and now crave it like crackheads. They called me one day because they were VERY close to making a trip to New Orleans to get a snowball. Mind you they live 5 and a half hours away. Now every time they visit they demand that we go to Sno-la. They have a lifelong, loyal customer in me. And maybe one of these days I'll sample more of the menu.
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
So I had been to the Causeway location of this place a few times and found the snowball ice alright but I had never tried their "cheesecake stuffed" snowball before. So I finally broke down on a rainy day and got the blueberry special. Ahhh... well the snowball part was alright but the whipped cream I could have done without and then when I got into the "cheesecake" portion that stuff was just gross and I won't get that again (and I LOVE cheesecake). As I was digging down into the lower parts of my snowball I was driving past Hansen's and there was ZERO line and I wept deeply for sinning against the mighty snowball gods and knew I must keep my Hansen's vigil more strongly and not stray to such sinfully aberrant things as a fake cheesecake stuffed frankenconeballs.
google avatar

Steven C.

Yelp
Just as good as the one on causeway. I brought first timers and they were in love with their first sno ball! The flavors were great wait was a little long but it's closer to us so it was a win win.

Gigi M.

Yelp
I used to go to their original location in Metairie, which was big with lots of seating, affordable, and awesome. Finally got to try them out in their new location and wow what a disappointment! I hate this new location, which has no seating, and only 6 people standing tight can fit. Also, prices went up, and the quality went down. They barely put cheesecake like how they used to, and there were some weird black things in the cheesecake part. Maybe mold or bugs, not sure, but pretty much i had to throw it out. I am so sad that my favorite place went downhill. I ordered the red velvet one and the shave ice was melting already when they handed it over to me. Also the flavor of red velvet was not strong as it used to be. What a huge disappointment.

Yelp
So during this coronavirus pandemic, you can't get the full experience of Sno La as you can only do mobile ordering on a limited menu. But they still had the popular flavors available and I applaud their efforts to flatten the curve by implementing effective social distancing during these uncharted times. As for the food...the Chantilly Cake Sno Ball gets a 3/5 from me. The Banana Foster Sno Ball gets a 5/5...it was amazing! The nachos...eh. $4.25 for nachos they had in a bag and cheese in a container is a bit much (they provided a plastic tray to pour your bagged nachos in). This is New Orleans. We like our nachos in a paper bowl and drenched in cheese. I assume though this is because of their new, temporary social distancing regulations. Either way, you can get better, cheaper nachos from the sno ball stand round the block. But their premium Sno balls are definitely worth a try. Again, the banana foster one was a personal favorite of mine. Amazing blend of banana flavor, cheesecake stuffing, and caramel drizzle. I'm sure it's even better when they will be allowed again to serve it in a plastic cup and uncovered whereas right now they have to serve it in a paper cup and lid on top due to their social distancing regulations.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! I was not expecting to taste such an AMAZINGLY delicious sweet treat! It was my first experience and I tried the RED VELVET CHEESECAKE SNOWBALL WITH CONDENSED MILK AND CHEESECAKE filling!!!! I was so in HEAVEN once my spoon went deep enough to taste the cheesecake filling in the middle! I went back again today and the very professional owner "Kerry" even greeted me by remembering my name! I love this place and am so excited to finally have found the BEST DESSERT in New Orleans! My Personal RECOMMENDATION - YOU MUST TRY THE RED VELVET CHEESECAKE WITH CONDENSED MILK SNOWBALL!!!!!!
google avatar

Shanita F.

Yelp
I tried something new and it tasted like eating freezer burnt ice cream.. it's all my fault though. I grew up eating snow cones. And where I'm from, it's just shaved ice, syrup and a paper cone-shaped cup. It was simpler times. Anyways, I ordered the oreo sno-cone; it was ready in no time. It looked good, but when I took the first scoop, I was disappointed. I wasn't use to the flavor, and now I know I prefer fruity flavors. I forced myself to get to the middle so I could eat the filling, but mixed with the ice, it tasted like freezer burnt ice cream. Couldn't finish it I gave this place three stars because it's different and I think people should try it. Start with the extra small though! The lobby is very small and doesn't hold many people. The good thing is that the line moves quickly. My friend pointed out that they aren't wheelchair accessible.
google avatar

Kayla J.

Yelp
I frequented Sno-la once upon a time and loved them for their bold flavors, soft ice and good customer service. So many changes now... including being charged a higher price for an "XL" snowball which is actually a regular large (they're charging to top the cup off with the ice funnel, which is customary). The prices are, in my opinion, too high now considering the cup size change and quality of the ice (had hard chunks of ice in my snowball). This makes me sad :/
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
I'm a snowball snob. It's snow BALL, not snow CONE, not shave ice (they're all minutely different, but I'm still a snowball snob haha). So I was less than thrilled that someone had come along and tried to "fix" perfection by adding anything beyond condensed milk on top. Well.... I'll eat my words this time because putting cheesecake in a snowball and adding toppings is GENIUS!!! It's GENIUS I tell you. Their key lime pie special tastes just like a cold, creamy delicious key lime pie, and I dream about their Chantilly cake flavor when it's 80+ degrees outside. Plus it has fruit on top, so it's basically healthy for you! ;) All jokes aside, seriously. This place is super cool and the staff is always friendly and the location is perfect for grabbing one and going to walk the trail along the levee or hopping on the streetcar for a nice trip/view while you enjoy your treat!

Yelp
I LOVE sno-la in Metairie so I was hoping for a similar experience here. When we first came in, there were 5 people waiting in line- it seemed a little chaotic. I was bummed that they were out of my flavor. What really got me though were the general upkeep/conditions. The ceiling is missing a tile, and a handful of other ones are dirty and stained. The paint is peeling from some areas right above where they are making the snowballs. There was a red sticky substance dripping out on the floor from the back room. The ledges at the top of the wall were dust-coated. It makes me nervous to eat from somewhere that does not tend to the cleanliness and repair of their store- because you just hope they are more stringent about your food. My husband did enjoy his Zulu snowball. I'm excited to hit up the Metairie location next time I have a Sno-La craving!

Yelp
WOOWWWWWW. How can I even describe this place? It's a snowball, but so much more. David and I were in the mood for a snowball and he had seen this place online and it looked good, so we went on an adventure. The shop itself is really cute with an ice cream parlor type feel. The unique thing about these snowballs is that they are stuffed with cheesecake. Intrigued, I ordered the Tifffany's Blue Box because it's a wedding cake type flavor. David got the bananas foster. My snowball was great. It was really sweet, but I like that. Buried deep inside was the cheesecake and that changed the entire snowball experience for me. Once you get a scoop of the creamy cheesecake with the icy snowball, you are sure that you're in heaven. It's the perfect combination of a little bit savory and sweet. I can't believe that more snowball stands haven't thought of this and I'm sure that I am completely spoiled for other stands from here on out. This spot is a little pricier than your average snowball stand, but keep in mind you are getting more than just a cup of sugar ice here. Along with the cheesecake inside, you can get all kind of toppings, if that's your thing. It's more than a snowball- it's a legit dessert. I will absolutely come back and try more of their goodies.
