Yelp
Can't give 5 stars because it's my personal rule to not hand out 5ers on the first try, but SnoMo has got to be the best place I've been to offering this particular type of melt-in-your mouth, velvety Taiwanese snowflake ice.
Depending on the location, it seems like you can choose between a tiny, small, or large portion for the flavor of ice you want (anywhere from $3-$6ish), followed up by various toppings ranging from fruit, to pudding, to tapioca balls, to jelly, and everything in between. Depending on the type of topping the price varies, but nothing beyond 75 cents. I noticed that SnoMo also offers various drinks and smoothies in addition to their ice options, and will need to try them out sometime in the future.
I opted for the milk tea snow ice and paired it with: almond pudding, coffee jelly, and tapioca boba. Now that I think about it in hindsight, I definitely went overboard with the toppings, but I definitely have no regrets about it. This particular location, I have to give a shout out to their boba pearls -- the tapioca was probably some of the best I've ever had in terms of sweetness, freshness, and overall texture -- and my credibility comes from a) being Taiwanese and b) drinking milk tea like it's water whenever I return to the motherland. I've had a lot of boba.
My friend got the mango snowflake ice and paired it with mango and strawberries. That too was also delicious, although the mango tasted a weeee bit artificial. Now if this place decided to get peanut butter flavored ice, that would be it. I'd be done. I'd have to drive down to Austin every weekend to get my fix of one of the most popular and long-lived flavors in Taiwan.
Come down to SnoMo, y'all. It's worth it.
