25 Places Reborn Through Graffiti and Street Art

"The run-down industrial area of Snösätra in the southern suburbs of Stockholm seemed like it was forgotten long ago. That is, until 2014, when it was transformed into one of Europe’s largest graffiti exhibitions. Practically every sliver of the walls along the streets running through the neighborhood is covered by graffiti. Eye-catching images of people, animals, and objects adorn whatever space is available. The paintings are done by different street artists from around the world, transforming Snösätra into a canvas that displays a mishmash of different graffiti styles and themes. The owners of the buildings are perfectly willing to let the artists cover the walls with their work. Every spring, more than 150 graffiti artists from Sweden and beyond descend upon the neighborhood to create new pieces as part of an annual street art festival. The festival includes music, a graffiti battle, and even a virtual reality portion that lets revelers attempt to show off their street art skills within a virtual world. There’s also a wall that’s open to the public to paint, as long as people stick to the rules posted. Unfortunately, the future of Snösätra is uncertain, as there are plans to turn it into a residential area. As of yet, it’s still a refuge for graffiti lovers, far from the beaten path. Update as of July 2021: The southern part of Snösätra has been torn down and will be turned into a nature reserve. However, the northern part is still there, covered in graffiti for you to enjoy." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

This place is just the best place to admire graffiti art in Stockholm area. During the summer it is especially inviting because there are activities for kids, and, both adults and kids can try some spray-painting themselves. They sell the spray paint on the spot.

Cool place. There is loppis every sunday during summertime with second hand objects. There are also usually food trucks and sometimes music festivals. Check out their instagram for updated event dates!

Graffiti of many levels and styles. There are several top notch works, but there are also a lot graffities made by beginners. New works are constantly being made, during our visit we were able to watch the creation of two new works. The place had a relaxed village-like atmosphere. There were a lot of people a beautiful Saturday evening in May. A few kiosks were also there and the offer was diverse.

Find the guy in the picture at the techno warehouse and bring cash to buy one of his second hand gems at his place. He has music instruments, clothes, toys, accessories, paintings, etc. You can visit him and then walk around in the woods. Techno parties happen at night here, definitely one of the best places to know the city beyond the norm and regular tradition. This is for sure the most underrated place in Stockholm!

Located near the Rågsved Naturreservat, (closest metro station is Rågsved I guess). Walking around through the little Forests nature conservation and you’ll see the graffiti walls.
