Best Restaurants in Wilmington, Delaware, a Short Trip From Philly | Eater Philly

"This steakhouse is in a surprising location: A strip mall with a massive Independence Hall replica. Snuff Mill is becoming a destination on its own thanks to its dry-aging prowess and on-site butchering. Superb cuts come with playful twists on classic menu items, such as truffled cream corn and beef marrow butter. For drinkers and abstainers alike, the beverage menu offers plenty of choices, from a zero-proof cranberry mojito to fine French wine." - Ernest Owens

Google
In the Wilmington area for business and was told about Snuff Mill. The restaurant is in a strip shopping center, not exactly what I was expecting but okay fine. We made reservations for lunch the day before. There were only a few time slots available so be forewarned, you will want to make a reservation. We were seated right away. The dining area is on the smaller side, there is a bar area with a handful of seats. My only complaint about the seating was were close to the back door which was opened frequently and the day was cool. Our server was great, very attentive and helpful in navigating the menu. I had the soup as as starter and a spicy chicken sandwich as my meal. They have a good drink menu but this was a business lunch so we stayed with water. The food was really outstanding. Really just a fabulous meal. The food quality comes at a price, this restaurant is not cheap. When you pay a premium for the food you expect to get your money's worth and Snuff Mill delivers!

My husband and I went to Snuff Mill for our anniversary. From the moment we walked in, they made it an exceptional experience. When we got to the table, it had heart confetti. Our waitress, Mia, was wonderful! She was super personable and gave us great recommendations. The food itself was absolutely delicious. They ended our meal with a sparkler to celebrate. From the hospitality, to the food, and the decor/atmosphere, there was so much attention to detail. We will certainly be back and will be recommending to everyone!

My husband & I decided to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary here. Our server, Michelle was tentative & friendly. The space is intimate, but too small for their level of popularity. Unfortunately the food didn't meet our expectations for such a highly rated & priced restaurant. Photos attached were dishes we ordered. The 'Dirty Barbarian' cocktail was strong, which I did not mind! Great olives & blue cheese flavor. I couldn't taste any notes of truffle. Oysters were small being that the majority of them are from the East coast, but fresh & delicious. Our French onion soup was topped with a tasty melted cheese, but the soup overall lacked flavor, & the bread was tough/hard. We order French onion soup whenever we see it on a menu & have had better at a diner for half the price. We both ordered the Prime Ribeye Steak. We're huge steak people. The entire plate lacked flavor as well. Steak was perfectly cooked to medium-rare seasoned with pepper & topped with butter; green beans were undercooked, unseasoned, & smothered in butter; carrots were fork tender, unseasoned, & tasted like it was submerged in butter until it was cooked; & onion was beautifully roasted.. in butter. We were discussing afterwards that our expectations may be higher since we cook at home often & have indulged in incredible food in Europe, but we would've enjoyed Texas Roadhouse more for a fraction of the price. Total bill $210. & to top it all off, my husband had to rush home from an upset stomach. All he consumed was the French onion soap & Prime Ribeye Steak platter. So we experienced some highs & lows here at Snuff Mill.

I normally don't 5 star anything, but I had absolutely no problems or critiques for this restaurant. The oysters were delicious, Wellfleet and Saltwater Taffy were my favorites. The Carpetbagger oysters are definitely a must try! They have the perfect amount of heat, slight sweet flavor, and a great crunchy texture. Our waitress, Jen, was amazing. She was knowledgeable about the food and area, was thorough in explaining things, and overall was pleasant to speak to. Bill, the owner, showed that he cared about his customers and made us feel welcomed. Brian is mixology genius. If you enjoy a sweet drink, you NEED to get the Cranberry Pomegranate Chocolate Tart cocktail. It is on their dessert menu but is absolutely delicious. His foams are to die for and we enjoyed every drink he made. Overall it was a great experience and we will be making the travel to come back and enjoy the food!

Had an incredible lunch yesterday. Michelle was so pleasant. It was our first visit. Michelle described the menu with great detail. the restaurant is cozy and decorated perfectly. It was a girls day out, and we ate like queens. Our sampling gave us a great taste of the creative dishes that are being offered. So impressed with each dish. The cauliflower soup was delicious. The raw oysters and carpet bagger were scrumptious. We are planning a return soon. This is a foodies delight! Thanks Michelle for making our first time experience so special.

Google
Wow, Snuff Mill is way beyond a 5. We don't typically have places like this in Delaware. Everything is stellar from the moment you step up to the front door, the decor, the staff, the food. This is true 5-star dining and every bite is magical. The most delicious filet mignon I have ever had the pleasure of eating.

Google
Great option for a birthday dinner or other celebration meal. The service was incredible, our waiter Michael had us wanting for nothing. The seasonal menu had a great balance of classics and something new. We’ll be back!

I absolutely loved Snuff Mill Restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance were all exceptional. The restaurant is cozy and intimate. However, my friend and I decided to eat outside because it was such a beautiful day. Unfortunately, I forgot our waitresses name but she was amazing! So friendly and cheerful. She gave us recommendations and explained everything on the menu in great detail. And finally the best part of the dining experience... the food. Every item that we ordered was incredible. The crab bisque was a perfect appetizer, so creamy and flavorful. We also ordered their house-made focaccia bread for the table and let me tell you... it was the best focaccia bread that I have ever tasted. So warm, crisp, and buttery and it was accompanied by a brown sugary butter that was both sweet and savory. Our entrees were absolutely delicious. My friend enjoyed a Spicy Nashville Chicken Sandwich with French fries. I ordered the house-made ricotta gnocchi which was prepared in a delectable peach and prosecco compote mixed with heirloom vine-ripened tomatoes and crispy prosciutto. My mouth is watering just from typing this. Snuff Mill also had an extensive wine and cocktail menu however my friend and I went with their local beer from Wilmington Brew Works which complimented the meal perfectly. I finished the meal off with their peach cheesecake that was highly recommended by our waitress. I haven't been dining out much lately because it's so expensive and the quality of food has gone downhill at many places but Snuff Mill had me falling in love all over again with dining out. Snuff Mill is reasonably priced and the meal was not only delicious but memorable.

Yelp
Great service. Foods good, but the staff, really good. Our server really makes us comfy and welcomed. She's a real professional. Thursday burger special....with the wait.

Yelp
We had a great experience at this small, intimate, upscale restaurant for our wedding anniversary. First of all, reservations are needed as the establishment only has about 10-12 tables. It's a great spot to go for a nicer occasion, fancier cocktails, and truly delicious food!

Yelp
I went to Todd's Salon and asked Todd what is a great lunch place in the area. He referred me to this restaurant, and told me to get the burger. I took out from here and very friendly Michelle K. took my order. My burger was an excellent quality burger 5/5. My fries were about a 4/5. I look forward to returning every time to this restaurant after getting my hair done. I am excited to try different types of meat, because I don't eat meat that frequently. The decoration inside the restaurant tasteful.

Yelp
For a person who loves ethnic foods, the restaurant is just okay. The drinks were great. The food was a bit lackluster. It's was bland and lacked flavor-seasoning.

Yelp
My friend and I had lunch at Snuff Mill a few weeks ago when we visited Wilmington for the day. I absolutely loved our lunch. The restaurant is such a hidden gem. It's located in a sort of strip mall - although one with some charm. But then you walk into this tiny restaurant, and it has so much charm and great ambiance. It has tiny, cozy bistro vibes. And when I saw that butcher counter, I knew we were in for a great meal! We shared an order of their carpet bagger (flash-fried local oysters, shaved filet mignon, thick cut bacon, Roquefort cheese, and jalapeno ranch - 3, served on soup spoons), the special soup of the day (it was a chilled soup, but I can't remember the ingredients now), the stone fruit salad (arugula, radicchio, stone fruit, bacon, marcona almonds, watermelon radish, pecorino, cherries, and apple-lemon-poppyseed dressing), and their signature beef burger with bacon, sauteed Vidalia onions, American cheese, dill pickles, and special sauce). All the food was really good - delicious from start to finish. And their menu is so great, we really struggled with what to order! (I'd happily return to try more off their menus after trying these four dishes on our first visit!) They also had great drinks. We started with two of one of their summery cocktails, which were so refreshing with lunch on a hot day. We also had a couple of glasses of wine from their great wine list. The service was so great and really added to our experience. We didn't have a reservation for lunch, and they were really packed (it was a Monday holiday, so there were a lot of people out and about for a weekday, plus it seems like a really great place for a business/work lunch), but they found a table for us. And the service was so amazing from start to finish. We had intended to visit a museum in the early afternoon, we were having such a good experience/meal that we hovered and didn't make it to the museum. But we didn't mind - we were having such a great time at Snuff Mill, we didn't want to leave. I'd absolutely return for another meal!

Yelp
What a gem in Wilmington! A friend and I stopped in for lunch sans reservation on a holiday and it was bumping! The staff was so friendly - they set up a table for us and got us seated rather quickly. The interior was a contrast to the strip mall it's in. We had planned to make it a quickish lunch but we were having so much fun we were there for an hour and a half. But we weren't the only ones that lingered. It's also a smaller kitchen and restaurant so the food took a bit of time but the staff coursed the items out perfectly. We started with the carpet bagger, a fried oyster and pieces of their million dollar bacon, and their soup of the day a chilled cucumber and melon and jalapeño soup. The gin cantaloupe cocktail was refreshing on the hot day. And we each got a glass of white wine - I loved their Chablis (it was $23 a glass! ). The burger was the highlight and one I would eat again and again. It was a perfect sized on the smaller end but perfect for sharing since we also got the stone fruits salad to share. The salad lacked in fruit and was more greens which was delicious as it was perfectly dressed with bits of watermelon radish. My only complaint is the pecorino cheese pieces were too big. Wonderful cozy restaurant with the cutest table setting - I would for sure some back and evidently the burger is $13 on Thursday for lunch!

Yelp
Wow - this is truly a 5-star dining experience. I want to start with shouting out the staff because they go above and beyond. Everyone was so friendly and I appreciated that the owner came around and talked to us! The food stole the show though. I'm still thinking about the caviar linguine - WOW. And the steak frites - I typically am pretty disappointed (even in Paris) but this was perfect cut of meat, perfectly cooked, etc. definitely better than anything I've had in NYC! I would highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Great little restaurant we found off of I95. Food and service were top notch. Our waitress Michelle made the dining experience so enjoyable. She was personable, patient and knowledgeable. Explained all the entrees, specials and offered suggestions. Would definitely return if I'm ever in the area again passing through.

Yelp
This place was exactly what I'd hoped we'd find in greater Wilmington. Creative cuisine for a quick lunch outing with my wealthier clientele. The carpet-bagger is amazing and we'll usually get two or three orders as they are quickly gobbled down. Steaks, good wine, caviar, eggs. Loving it!

Yelp
We always have such a wonderful experience at Snuff Mill! It's such a welcoming and cozy space. Everyone is extremely attentive and makes you feel like family as soon as you walk in the door. As far as the food, everything is delicious! But, my favorite dishes are the beef ribeye (perfect for 2 people), the beef carpaccio, the squash rings, and artichokes. If you haven't visited Snuff Mill yet, I highly recommend you do! It is one of the best restaurants in the Wilmington/Philadelphia area!

Yelp
Good food. Very mediocre service. My wife never got offered another drink after she finished her first round which was a bit of a damper. The donut dessert was a highlight. The server was a bit scattered and lackadaisical and the bartender seemed uninterested in us as well when we sat at the bar after dinner. He also never offered us another round but instead just dropped the check. Would not return for the price due to service, although the food was good.

Yelp
I've had the pleasure of dining at this groovy restaurant. I can't say enough about how much I loved my experiences. The service was impeccable. The quality and presentation was exceptional. My filet was perfectly cooked. The accoutrements were divine and the sauces were liquid gold. The Duck Fat Donut (not loving the name) was presented in the most dramatic way. It was spectacular. The taste, texture and melt in your mouth flavor was beyond extraordinary. Then, lunch. The burger was one of the best burgers I've ever tasted in my life and I'm 58 and had many many burgers. I also tried the table side Iced Tea. I loved every single sip. The Peach Cheesecake which is seasonal was so light and creamy, not overly sweet with the vanilla bean whipped cream on top made for the perfect ending. My compliments to the chef and staff. I feel as if I were transported to Wilmington's own "The Bear". A must try, and must keep going back

Yelp
Loud, small restaurant with great steaks and mediocre other entrees. Their signature salad wasn't anything special but very generous in size. Delicious steak. Nice crispy salmon but the cherry tomatoes were too sour. Tiny $40 lobster French toast - about 6" with only a small amount of lobster. Don't order that one! Overall, pricey and if you're not a steak lover, not worth the visit.

Yelp
My husband and I moved to Delaware from NYC in 2022 and have been reluctant to try restaurants here. Near us, we have a decent tavern for lunch and a decent breakfast spot. Nothing worth a fancy date night. Until last night. Snuff Mill was amazing from the moment we stepped out of the car. You could smell the steaks in the air! The outdoor seating was thoughtful and charming. Bill, the owner, was outside and welcomed us like we were old friends he was delighted to see again. Inside, the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with equally welcoming staff. The ambiance and decor were modern and cool. Everything from the dishtowel napkins, farmhouse style plates, and celebratory sparklers to the butcher case, chalkboard wall, and soft lighting were perfectly appointed. The food. Oh my god, the food. We started with the fried artichokes with caper aioli and the house made focaccia with fig mascarpone (and we got the whole roasted garlic because that's never wrong). We could have licked the plate clean with the artichokes. The focaccia was light and flavorful and the fig mascarpone I would have been happy to order by the tub!! For our main dish, we ordered one of the specials - the porterhouse steak, medium rare with truffle butter. It came with roasted fingerling potatoes, haricot verts, and pearl onions. We couldn't pass up the truffle creamed corn as a side either and wow, that was one of the best things I've eaten. The steak was perfectly cooked. It was flavorful and tender and enough food that we have dinner (possibly even lunch) for another day(s)! For dessert we ordered the sticky toffee pudding with million dollar bacon and the seasonal fresh peach creme brûlée. We intended on having a few bites but they were both so good that we finished them both! If I had to give one critique, I wanted a bit more salt on the haricot verts and carrots, but I'm a salty person. There were multiple celebrations at the restaurant and everyone got these fun sparklers with their respective desserts. The atmosphere was fun and inclusive. At the end of our meal our server and the owner both stood to talk with us and invite us back. The whole experience was extraordinary. If I could give more than five stars, I would. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
The price is the problem. Food is ok. But the prices are designed to keep us little folk out. So I go to Ruth's Chris... much more reasonable.

Yelp
Super cute bespoke dining with locally sourced ingredients and some of the best cocktails I have had. Which is saying something... Will for sure return!

Yelp
The food and entire experience at Snuff Mill was excellent. From the ambiance to the service to the apps, entrees, and desserts, everything was perfect. We started with the sunchokes, lamb kebab, artichoke, & razor clams for an appetizer. All were fabulous but I think the artichoke was my favorite, especially with the sauce. We followed up with the blood orange salad which was delicious. The blood oranges & pecans really elevated it. For my entree, I had the burger, which was cooked to perfection & accompanied by amazingly done fries. Like, most fries are good, but few stand out, and these truly did. My boyfriend had the filet mignon which was delicious. Finally, I finished with the strawberry (seasonal) crème brûlée & my boyfriend had the yuzu cheesecake. Both were fabulous - shout out to Kaila, the pastry chef!! Also a shout out to Mia, our server, for the excellent, friendly service.

Yelp
Didn't get many photos of the food but our experiences at Snuff Mill have been top tier. Service is great, on top of it but not too pushy to get you out of there. Drinks are great and they have the best wine selection.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever had...seasonal summer menu. Stopped in for lunch and was able to order a variety of appetizers options and entree options...all delicious! We had carpetbagger, Wagyu beef carpaccio, oysters on the half shell? burrata with summer fruit (tomatoes),corn gelato and sticky toffee pudding...amazing!! Highly recommend all!! Restaurant is small and intimate with exceptional service. RUN, try this restaurant and thank me later. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This place has a ton of potential. The server was great except for he did not write anything we ordered so we received way more food than we anticipated. We asked a bunch of questions while thinking of what we should order that may have confused the server so even the ones we did not order came out and was served. We just thought well it's a special day so we might as well try these extra food. Well 300 dollars plus later... We ordered the focaccia, oysters and pork belly skewers for appetizers. The pork belly could use a little more seasoning. Oysters were fresh and the west coast was phenomenal! Focaccia was great and so was the dip that came with it. We also ordered the rib eye which would be an easy 9/10. It was the best we ordered. Here comes more meals we did not order- the scallops and soft shell crabs. Scallops were a ok, nothing special about it, almost bland with some veggies with it. The soft-shell crab was a tad salty and the soy glaze on it made it even more salty. It is a tiny space, but they make good use of the space. Overall, I would rate our experience with 3/5. Would I go back? Maybe, maybe not- for the cost of the meals, I'd rather try a different place.

Yelp
What a great experience... Food was awesome steak tender and delicious and Homemade soup Devine... Fell into this place by accident and this accident I will do again... Jennifer was a great waitress with an awesome smile and personality... Clean, friendly, delicious and easy to get to... This stop is a must try in this area.. If you're from Wilmington and haven't discovered Snuff Mill..... I am 1 step ahead of you from Maryland.... Tell the Flannery's Bayou and BBQ sent ya from Fruitland!!

Yelp
Overall I liked it here and would give it another chance! I really wanted to give this spot a flawless review but some things just did not hit the mark. I would say the space is small, so be prepared to sit closely to others. Additionally, the seats were uncomfortable. I do want to say the overall quality of the food was phenomenal, and the flavor profile was well executed. Only a few missteps throws this rating below 5 stars. To start we got shrimp cocktail, the seasonal soup, and the bread. The shrimp was of great quality and perfectly cooked. It was the cocktail sauce that destroyed the dish. Without exaggeration, there was so much horseradish my eyes watered (literally I am not kidding). My senses were in overdrive. The soup was an asparagus and crab purée, and while the flavor was great, there was crab shell all throughout which downgraded the dish. The bread was great and I have no bad comments on that item. The entrees were great and steak was of high quality. I will say the sides were a bit lacking. For the price of the overall experience, I think I just expected a bit more to accompany the main entree. Lastly, the desserts just fell flat. Not terrible, but to be honest they are nothing i would purchase again. We got the key lime pie and chocolate tart. I would probably skip the dessert next time.

Larry K.

Yelp
The Mill salad was just ok. Nothing special. It was like there was no dressing on it. The lobster toast was very disappointing. It was a very very small portion. Not an entree size. It was go. Not much lobster. I won't be back.

Yelp
It's a very small restaurant & very loud. If looking for a romantic quiet date night, this isn't the place. Our server was fantastic. Food was delish - we ordered a Caesar salad, artichokes, focaccia, filet & a chicken dish. And a couple of drinks. We were here on a Wed night & the place was crowded. Would return.

Yelp
Snuff Mill isn't just a great restaurant--it's a masterclass in how to do everything right. Having lived in a major city surrounded by world-class chefs, I've developed high standards when it comes to food, and let me tell you--Joe is the real deal. He could go toe-to-toe with anyone in the business. From the moment you walk in, the warm, inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a meal that's equal parts refined and comforting. The attention to detail in every dish & cocktail is staggering. The handcrafted cocktails are perfect--thoughtfully designed to complement the menu, enhancing every bite. But it's not just the food & drinks--what truly sets Snuff Mill apart is the service. Every interaction feels personal, genuine, and effortlessly polished. The team here doesn't just serve food; they curate an experience that makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a hidden gem that only the lucky ones know about.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Snuffmill, I would give it a solid 4.5 out of 5. We were coming in for our anniversary and they advised which table to ask for to be in a corner (table 11) and they honored this request, which was appreciated. They had some glitter stars on the table to honor the anniversary. The room is super small and only has 10 tables. But, I liked the ambience. In terms of the food: Apps: I recommend the pork belly for sure and also the focaccia. I could have done without the artichokes. The pork belly was AMAZING!! Probably the top item we ordered. And the focaccia, I could have eaten a whole loaf. Entree: Ribeye was delicious, the only gripe was the side accompanying it was not good. I don't even remember what it was exactly, but a nice potato or veggie would have been nice for such an expensive steak. Dessert: We had the pear dessert and it was just good but I'd probably pick different next time Improvements: My major improvements for the restaurant would be: 1. Signature Cocktail List: improve the signature cocktail menu, it it mainly geared toward whiskeys and bourbons and what I consider "Men drinks" - note: women love vodkas, gins, etc and there was nothing to pick from in regard to this. I enjoy a nice bourbon here and there but I can tell 100% a woman did not have input to this list. We'd love a cosmo, fancy martinis, and gin/lavender drink. In the rare chance I get a night out with the kids at home, I look forward to having an amazing cocktail and I had to order a regular dirty martini here. 2. Steak sides: as mentioned above, looking for something creative and delicious 3. Only other improvement is that the waiter seemed to focus on talking to my husband and it seemed a little chauvinistic. Little did he know, I was the only paying the check. But just improve communication to ensure both parties are treated the same. This was just my experience with one waiter, I'm sure others were fine. Overall, still excellent, it's a very expensive restaurant and great for a night on the town or a romantic date. Food is delicious!!

Yelp
I told the owner he should open another place in West Chester because this model can definitely compete. He could find a sweet spot between being in too small a space currently and losing the nice ambience this place has. Well prepared, original dishes with a mix of beef and seafood along with other entrees, like the chicken breast I had. Juicy, delicious and just the right size. My wife enjoyed her filet mignon after we shared the tempura squash rings as the app. Their cocktails were first rate from the "mixologist" and the place just has a nice vibe. One warning to the owner: don't box yourselves into the steakhouse category as it could needlessly limit your appeal.

Yelp
The food (raw oysters, scallops, Porterhouse, caviar linguini, and Filet) were thoroughly enjoyed by the whole party. Without one complaint about anything, which is saying something with my crew! However, it is the service I really want to compliment. There was a mixup with our reservation (probably my fault) but the restaurant did their very best to accommodate our group of 5 and allow us to be seated. They clearly communicated our time limitation due to a group (with valid reservations) coming in after us and then helpfully ushered us through our meal. Never were they pushy but they did a good job making sure we got the full experience in a truncated period of time.

Yelp
Snuff Mill has a cozy inside atmosphere which made it a perfect place to celebrate my birthday with my husband - and if weather permitting you can dine al fresco! Make sure to make reservations bc they go fast! We started with an appetizer: the carpet bagger which was fried oysters topped with shaved filet mignon, thick cut bacon, Roquefort cheese, & jalapeño ranch. The presentation was beautiful, each on was on its own little ceramic oyster shell plate. (I need to find out where they bought these!) My husband ordered i believe the prime ribeye steak, it was perfectly medium rare came w/ a whole head of garlic confit and the crispy potato strings were amazing. (also this review is long overdue) I ordered the scallops special that evening and was so lucky to get the last ones! My husband ordered the Chef Robeer and he enjoyed it so much he had a second. I definitely recommend the cranberry mojito I loved it. For dessert we shared the STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING and it came out super fancy with a big sparkler which made my night. This place is such a jewel! I can't wait to return after our baby is born! Food: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Price/portion: 5/5 Service: 5/5

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. We had a group of 5 and were seated at a primo spot, right at the window. The table was lovely and set with a fun French flair. Our group ordered a fairly extensive list of items, but our server knew up front that we all wanted separate checks and he was great. The menu is kept small to ensure top quality products, so we got the spiel of "these squash flowers were hand picked and transported from farm to table within 2 hours." I had a filet mignon and it was perfectly done. Be prepared to pay $6 for a cup of tea, but even that is served with flair and with a beautiful presentation. Coming here is a definite foodie experience and appreciated the owner stopping by to say hello.

Yelp
This is lunch that you will never forget and leave wanting to come back tomorrow!! We was so happy to get a table at such a great restaurant for lunch. We can't wait to get back to @snuffmillde for dinner!!! The wild boar bolognese was out of this world.. I usually get bolognese when it's on a menu and this would be a top 2 on my list. The waitress was so helpful and happy it just shows how wonderful the folks that work here are. The vibe at snuff mill is exactly what you are looking for in a restaurant just straight up and let the food do our talking for us.

Yelp
My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary . I'd been hearing a lot about it and was very glad we got to check it out. It's a smallish yet quaint place . We felt very welcome. My husband ordered one of the whiskey drinks that he liked very much. The bartender accommodated my request for a fairly obscure cocktail. We started with the pork belly bake buns - they were delicious! Nice hugs of pork. We then shared a Caesar salad which was good- we both got a huge portion! Husband got a Filet - the price had gone up - it happens. It was perfectly cooked and flavorful . It was served with a few vegetables. I went with the Steak Frites . My steak was delicious, perfectly cooked and served with a blob of herb butter that was a lovely addition. The frites were a bit underwhelming- just basic French fries. Would definitely go back - I'd love to check it out for lunch.

Yelp
What a wonderful meal! Ate outside, totally relaxing! Shannon was our server, she knew all the specials by heart and the delicious details of each! She was very attentive! We had our water filled by a nice young lady who asked how we liked everything and if we needed anything! Bill is the the best host! The food is fresh, delicious and innovative! Also wine choices are amazing!!

Yelp
Amazing! From the front door to desert, this spot hits them all. The server was great and they have the bartender counsel you in drink options (great place for gin lovers like myself), and another to counsel on dining options. We like to share myriad of each and everything was fantastic. Definitely recommend this epic experience.

Yelp
Mine 1 star for the obnoxious amount of sparklers for bdays/special appetizers/or who knows what. It's a small dining room and for some reason they like that club atmosphere of bringing attention for certain things. It fills the room with a taste bud numbing smell. Otherwise food is pretty good. It's been hit or miss for me on what is great vs mediocre

Yelp
Carefully and purposely created to deliver an amazing dining experience. No wonder they are rated the best restaurant in Delaware and one of the Top 50 Steak Houses in America.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed. We didn't get to try this place out again because of a mix up in the reservation that. I saw they were having trouble with reservations as posted on their instagram. It's a shame because a full evening celebration turned into a rushed dinner at the sister restaurant. I'm glad they were able to accommodate us but over all the lack of communication changed the whole vibe of the night.

Yelp
Best meal I've had in Wilmington-had reservations for two on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday-front was lit up with a great ambience. Entered the restaurant to be greeted warmly by hostess who told us it would be a few minutes. She gave us the drink menu and the bartender came over and took our order for drinks, which were served promptly. After a short wait, we were led to our table, and our waiter, Michael, checked to see if we needed anything. The restaurant was quaint, and I'm sure they'd be equally busy if they were to double their square footage. We ordered the carpet bagger and prawns for apps, both equally delicious. For dinner we had the halibut special, and the 14oz NY strip. I asked for the steak to be cooked a little better than medium, and it came out just to my liking, served with potatoes on the side-both were very good! The halibut was cooked just right as well, and also very tasty. Service was top notch, food was perfect in every way-we will definitely be returning when time allows, and I highly recommend.

Yelp
Expensive but you're paying for quality food and atmosphere. The ribeye and carpaccio were excellent

Yelp
You can tell they really care about their guests dining experience. We celebrated a birthday here and everything from the gorgeous plants and flowers at the entrance to the sparkler with dessert was on point. Our server was excellent; the right balance of friendly and professional. We shared the artichoke appetizer and each had steak for our main course. The butter on the filet was amazing! Dessert was the fun s'mores. The one star off is because it was so loud in the restaurant we could barely hear each other. It's a small space and we were sandwiched between two large, very loud parties. That said, it was a fantastic meal and we will definitely return, just with different expectations due to the space inside. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Visited Snuff Mill while I was in town. Love the $2 oyster special they had, but I don't recall if it was because it was happy hour or a specific day of the week. Either way it was delicious and I had one of each. I ordered the fish of the day and thought it was beautifully prepared, light, and perfectly portioned for dinner. I also had a few pepper margaritas from the zero proof menu, but added some Tito's. I was stuffed so I took a key lime cheesecake to go. I devoured it in my hotel. The restaurant is quaint and I'd highly recommend reservations. Meats are butchered in house.

Yelp
What a great dining experience. I've been wanting to try and get in here, I finally did for a wedding anniversary diner and it did not disappoint. As a matter of fact they totally acknowledged with a little celebration for us. The food was out standing. Both steak frites and Filet Minion were cooked to perfection. The person shucking oysters came over to discuss oyster choices and they were the best I've had in a while. Mia our server was outstanding and made the hole evening complete. Thank you Robert and Team Snuff Mill!!

Yelp
Would have loved to have left a review for my visit tonight but wasnt able to get a seat at the bar (which was completely empty when I arrived at 5PM). Apparently, although the website says that bar seats are first come first served and not able to be reserved, you "can call a few minutes ahead" and reserve seats. After mentioning I was waiting outside for about 10 minutes I was "graciously" offered to dine at the table of what seemed like for 8 by myself (only reason I considered giving any stars). At this point cant know for sure I would have been asked to leave if a big group came in, so wont risk it. Sad that this happened but hopefully others will learn from my mistakes. Maybe management will read this but at this point who knows. Anyone planning on going for a bar seat please make sure you read this review!

Yelp
We had dinner at Snuff Mill for my husband's birthday and it was a fantastic experience. We started with the focaccia bread with onions and a Caesar salad. They kindly split the salad onto two plates without us having to ask. Then my husband got the steak and I got the scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. The sides come family style and we got a side of creamed corn. Best I've ever had in my life. We finished with a berry crumble with honey gelato and a coffee gelato. Every single thing we ordered as executed flawlessly. They even brought out a sparkler for dessert knowing it was a special occasion. This is a pricey but worth it place to celebrate your next special occasion.

Yelp
My daughter took me to Snuff Mill for my birthday. They absolutely acknowledged the fact that it was my birthday. I am only giving a 3 star rating because the food was very good. The artichoke appetizer was amazing and a must have if you go. The servings are very small with high prices. Unfortunately, service was not good from our server. She should be waiting tables in a diner. We ordered bottled water and when our glasses were empty, she filled them with water from a pitcher with faucet water. She was not certain of the specials and she did not offer a second drink to my daughter in law after she finished her first beverage (a mock tail), however continued to ask my daughter and I if we wanted more wine. She also was snippy with my daughter when discussing wines. Making certain that my daughter was aware that she was incorrect on her opinion of the wine. We were so frustrated that we paid the tab and went to the bar for more drinks. The vibe at the bar from the bar manager was very dry and he seemed very uninterested in serving us. The place seemed to have a lot of regulars and seemed very unwelcoming like we were outsiders. I would like to say that the hostess was extremely nice and more educated on the menu than our server was. We will not be returning to this establishment. There are several other upscale restaurants in the area that have excellent food and service.

Yelp
Wow!!! It's an experience!! I had my first oysters there and they were delicious. The food was amazing and the service was great! We've also been to their sister restaurant too where the old Michael Christopher used to be and that was fabulous too! Just a note: they only take reservations and you have to make a deposit on your reservation too, well worth it, can't wait to go back to both restaurants!
