Great view by the water. We sat in the outdoor seating. Staff was attentive & pleasant. I ordered the red snapper & was very disappointed. The fish was grilled way too long so all you taste is char & you get 5 tiny baby potatoes & stewed tomatoes for $35. Worst fish I have had in a restaurant in a long time. My kids ordered the lobster roll & seafood pasta which they really enjoyed, so I had order envy. Drinks were good & filled timely.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Meal of Our Sailing Trip! We came with a sailing group of 11, and Snug Harbor was hands down our favorite stop! The short ribs were incredibly tender, the crab legs fresh and flavorful, and the clam chowder was rich and packed with clams — not like the kind where you can barely find any. Service was exceptional — they assigned two lovely servers to our table. We didn’t catch their names, but both were sweet, friendly, and professional, and really made us feel welcome. And the waterfront view made it all even better.

Its a nice little restaurant next to the water with outside seating. It can get really busy but its busy for good reason. If you're able to get seating outside, you'll be able to enjoy view of the lake and plenty of opportunities to people watch. The lobster roll sandwich was very good and the buttery brioche bun it was served in made it taste even better. The pasta tasted very fresh and every bite was flavorful too! Its a nice place to grab lunch or dinner with a friend or date on a sunny day.

We always stay in town winter time on a way to destination. This place never fails! Compliments to the chef while I'm sitting still in a restaurant! My husband had Scotish salmon. Myself- scallops.

Wow. We love Snug Harbor! We landed on Snug after a quick random google search, but now I’m sure that fate wanted us to eat there last night. My cocktail? The perfect combination of sweetness and tart. My husband’s beer? Well you really can’t go wrong with a draft Oberon, so they did great with that too I guess 🤣. We were apart of a larger group, but that didn’t stop our waitresses from providing a great experience. Our servers, Maddie and Reese, were the perfect dynamic duo of cheer and personality. Before we even got to ordering our meals, they were striking up conversations about our weekend plans. My husband ordered the fish and chips and I ended up getting a steak. We thoroughly enjoyed both! Both waitresses were more than happy to answer questions about the best shopping spots in town and the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful sunset walk. I’m rambling on and on, so I’ll stop, but one thing is for certain: if you’re coming to Snug Harbor, Maddie and Reese will provide you with an excellent dining experience!

Google
The location is excellent, right on the river, with a beautiful view of the water and pier. Unfortunately, service was quite slow—we waited a long time for drinks and the bill. I ordered a steak, which was good overall, but I didn’t enjoy the burnt crust. We went before sunset and sat on the balcony, but there was no shade or fans, so we ended up uncomfortably hot. The view makes it worth a visit, but the experience could be improved.

Quality well presented food with good portions. Amazing views. A little short staffed but what restaurant isn't

Google
Nice place that over looking over the Michigan lake. The sunset was beautiful and amazing! The service was a bit slow from the kitchen but the server was very attentive and refilling our drinks and water! I do not recommend their Sushi rolls, the two rolls we ordered are just mediocre! The other appetizers are very good, All four main dishes are just amazing. Two steaks are very tasty and cooked perfectly. The scallop was very good size and tender! The curry dish also nicely cooked! Love to come back and try other menu items too!

Yelp
Great place for a family, went there with my parents and my own adult children. Eleanore was our server, very attentive and fun to chat with. Everyone was satisfied with the variety of food options. it was great to be able to and enjoy the scenery in their outdoor area.

Yelp
Typically, I try to rate an overall rather than break down each individual aspect, but as you will see there were some wildly varying factors. Service: Nick - 5 stars. He was kind, efficient, and attentive. We made a reservation and were seated quickly. Ambiance: 4/5 - The ambiance was charming. Darker, quieter (they also weren't super busy at 6 on a Saturday which was surprising), and had tasteful decor. We sat next to the fireplace which was so lovely and warm. Beverages: They either jigger or short pour. Mine was tasty but needed a few more sips, his was interesting, but I would have expected his to come in a pint, vs a modified high ball (approx. 6oz with ice?) Food: Here's where it kind of fell apart. We ordered the bread plate (1/5) because I had gotten pasta as a main dish and it isn't served with any bread. Focaccia was good, but the pumpkin was burnt. Pumpkin isn't something I normally would eat, so I am letting his ranking stand. Also, wasn't a fan of either butter. He ordered the fish and chips (1/5) and the batter was definitely inedibly undercooked on the second piece. He picked out the fish from inside. The fries were standard. The pea stuff was interesting. I didn't mind it, but definitely didn't need a whole soup cup full. I tried the other piece of his cod and it was fine. My entree was the Seafood Tomato Alfredo. I'd say a heavy 4/5. Typically, I don't eat red sauce, and this was a very medium orange. My only complaint is that it could have used a teaspoon of sugar to cut the bitterness (as a person who doesn't eat red sauce). If you do, this is probably a 5/5 for you. The seafood pieces were plentiful and large, and the pasta perfect. Overall the food came quickly and was a generous portion. However, we probably won't be back to try it again as he was quite unsatisfied and would probably rate his entire experience a 1/5. For me, I'd give it another shot, but for the money, if we want a nicer dinner we would probably find somewhere else.

Yelp
What a great place with a view. Right next to the water and down from the Grand Haven pier. Perfect place to watch the sunset. The menu is pricey but the food was amazing. I purchased the ele roll and my father had the hamburger. Everything was delicious and service was prompt and friendly

Yelp
Went here for dinner last night after walking the boardwalk. There appeared to be seating outside on the patios, but we were placed inside. As the host was walking us to our table, we noticed that it had not been cleaned and reset from the previous customers. As the host hurriedly tried to clean it, he ended up just pushing all of the food/crumbs onto our chairs. We would have preferred to wait an extra 5 minutes to be sat than get placed at a dirty table. After we sat down, it took about 8-10 minutes for our server to come to our table. While he was nice, he was very unorganized. He only asked 3/4 of us what we wanted to drink before walking away, and he never put in our appetizer order. He got food orders quickly, and the wait time for food was short. Everything tasted good, but there was hair found in the little cups of coleslaw they give alongside the fish and chips. Makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen. Additionally, our server stopped by 5 minutes into our meal and asked if we needed anything, so we asked for salt and pepper shakers. Before he brought them over, our meals were nearly complete. For the food and service you receive, did not feel worth $122. Definitely paying for the view and location.

Yelp
Really nice views and fun to sit out and soak it all in! We had a reservation for a Saturday dinner on a busy holiday weekend, but nicely got seated on the top floor patio at a table closest to the water. Loved the spot! Food was good, not spectacular, but definitely hit the spot. We ordered: - Grand Haven Sushi Roll (tuna, salmon, cucumber, carrot, chive, ginger sake aioli) - Calamari (with roasted red pepper romesco) - Seabass with Potato in a Spanish tomato broth, tarragon chive oil, lemon - Side of Roasted Broccolini I loved the flavor of the sea bass dish, light, garlicky, herby. Thought the fish might have been a touch overcooked. Calamari was great, generous portion and super crispy, salty, with a unique dipping sauce. The broccolini was pretty plain (under seasoned and some parts fairly tough) but honestly it served its function which was that we really wanted to get in some veg, and appreciated how much of it we got. Sushi was good, the fish itself tasted fresh. I also tried a spicy tequila cocktail which was pleasant and refreshing. Actually pretty spicy with thick slices of jalapeños soaking in the drink (which I liked!) but not very strong. Will say it was very sunny the day we went though which meant it got pretty toasty! I had a scarf draped over my shoulders and arms for a bit of extra sun protection (and lots of sunscreen), but did see others around me getting a little burnt over the course of their meal. From the food alone (and considering cost), plus the heat, I'd say this is maybe a 3.5, but the views and overall ambiance definitely added to the experience too!

Yelp
Oysters Crab patties Bean burgers Airline chicken Deserts Key lime pie Chocolate cake So up comes my last review that sadly I didn't post. Anyway, back again. That should tell you if you haven't tried snug harbor, you might want to to seriously consider it. Tonight is the night for sea bass. Of course I ordered oysters on the half shell. I prefer the east coast oyster. You will notice two different servers. Everyone is great!

Yelp
I was shocked to get into this place so easily on a beautiful Friday night in the summer. We had a wonderful experience sitting out on the deck. Our server Kim was super kind and helpful. They have a separate gluten-free menu, which made my heart very happy.I had the burger, which was good. Not my favorite, but I liked it. One of my friends had the wedge salad she loved it. The other other friend had sushi. I was craving mashed potatoes so I got a side of mashed potatoes. The portion was huge enough for all of us. I would definitely go back. It's nice to have a gluten-free menu and a nice view.

Yelp
Treated my parents to dinner for their 45th wedding anniversary. We were a larger party with a toddler. All of us agreed the food was outstanding and the views were amazing and added to the whole experience. Our servers were attentive and the food came out promptly and all orders were both fresh and delicious.
google avatar

Meg G.

Yelp
Food/Service was subpar... the place was very out dated. I felt bad for the staff ...they were asking the customers to give the restaurant a good review and mention them so they can get free steak dinner. Very awkward.

Bonnie W.

Yelp
I have been here in the past but this last time really killed it for me. The food was decent but overpriced for what it was. The desserts, which took 25 minutes for a piece of cake and some creme Brulé, were terrible. The cake tasted like it was dried out under a heat lamp and the creme Brulé wasn't cooked well. The worst part by far though was the waitress who was incredibly rude. When we asked to just cancel the desserts seeing as it had been 25 minutes and we were hoping to catch the light show (which we missed) she gave us such an attitude and wouldn't do it. Then she was shocked and pissy when she didn't get the best tip as a result. We saw her complaining to a co-worker on the way out and she was slamming plates down. She shouldn't expect a 25% tip if she's going to be rude and ignore her table. The only reason I am still giving this place 3 stars is b/c the location is nice and the food was for the most part pretty decent.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
The food was decent, but I didn't feel it was really worth it. My larger issue was the service. Proper utensils were forgotten. Waited almost 30 minutes for dessert, and got attitude when we tried to cancel the order. When it did come out the overall feel was that it had been left under the heat lamps for too long. Dry and uneven temperatures. I would be hesitant to recommend this location to a friend.

Yelp
Grabbed dinner at Snug Harbor and it was incredible. The new fall menu had so many things we wanted to try. Here are a few and they were all excellent. Over the last year, their seasonal menus and food have been
google avatar

Jess Y.

Yelp
i visited Snug Harbor and had the tuna poke bowl. It was fresh and tasted good, but I think it could've used a sauce for more flavor. The food took a while to come out over 40 minutes but the place itself was really nice. I liked the environment and the overall vibe.

Joan B.

Yelp
Went for lunch and had the Kale salad with grilled chicken. The Kale salad was a disappointment. The description indicated Kale, spring mix, cherry tomato, and crouton crumbles. It had about 4 cherry tomatoes & I didn't notice any crouton crumbles. The dressing had little to no flavor and the grilled chicken was dry. My husband had a wrap which was ok. However, the summer vegetable soup was good.
google avatar

Max W.

Yelp
All the food I got here was so good It took them like two minutes for them to finish Oh, and for four people it was very chill and you could have a great view of the water of the lake everyone there was also very nice

Veronica M.

Yelp
Meal and service were excellent. Husband had the short ribs and I had the seafood pasta. Views were amazing, we sat on upper deck then walked to the light, fountain and music display.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
We dined on the upper patio for a sunset dinner last night. Maddie was our server & was just fantastic! Our son has a dairy allergy and she took great care/time to ensure his food was dairy free. We had the west coast oysters, salmon and avocado sushi rolls, kid's 8 oz steak with fries and the 20 oz bone in ribeye. Everything was cooked perfectly and so delicious! We then walked down to get dole whip and watch the music light show on the water. Was the perfect ending to our vacation!
google avatar

Marlene W.

Yelp
The atmosphere was wonderful. We sat at a 2 top bar booth. The menu has many great choices. Beef Wellington was amazing & plenty to eat I had the Scallops, seared perfectly served on a delicious Butternut Squash Risotto. Great Martini & good wine. The mushroom appetizer is my long time favorite. Plenty to share.

Terry J.

Yelp
Waited 20 minutes for two drinks. We ordered soup and salad at the same time we ordered drinks, 35 minutes still no soup and salad........Place has empty tables. Now we know why! Clam chowder is water with few clams ! Should've been 1 star!

Matt S.

Yelp
The service was great but the food was subpar. You are definitely paying for the location on the river.

Yelp
4/5 for my food, 3/5 for waitservice and a few other aspects, so this is an average 3/5 for me. We've been staying in Grand Haven at a VRBO this weekend and were looking for something for dinner. I suggested Snug Harbor even though I've never been, because it's right on the water. There are two patios, one at top and one on bottom, and also indoor seating. Each one has it's own host stand, I believe. We ended up eating at the patio on top. I had a caramel cheesecake martini, which was delicious, and a Thai salad with crispy chicken, which was also good - similar to Panera's Asian chicken salad. My fiance had a Thai shrimp dish and our friends had a chicken Thai dish and fish and chips. The fish and chips were apparently burnt and our waitress realized it at the end and took it off their bill, which was great customer service. Waitservice was okay but a bit slow. Prices were also high but you're paying for the view; my salad would've been $19 without chicken and that's pretty expensive, it was like $26-27 with chicken I think. Cocktails actually weren't too overpriced, about $13 each. Overall I'd return here but mostly for the view.

Dan V.

Yelp
Food was good, service was very slow. Atmosphere was good. Out of many items. Prices were among if not the highest prices I've seen anywhere! Employees were friendly. Those prices will hurt returning business. Maybe they were short handed in staff that day but being out if that many items is not good. The high prices is what will be remembered the most. I rarely care ir even look at my bill. This in fact, I noticed on my bank statement. Thought for sure there was a mistake. Nope, just super high prices!

Carrie C.

Yelp
this was a sunset dinner to remember. My steak was cooked to perfection, our server Reese was awesome. I had a great time.

Rick D.

Yelp
We had dinner here last year when we were in Michigan. The food and service were fantastic. same this year. Sometimes when you go back to a place while traveling, the second time isn't nearly as good. Not true here. Can't figure out why only 3.5 stars unless it's that their patio seating is plastic chairs. We ate inside. We didn't have a good table, but the view was still fine and the food and service were great.

Maximilian C.

Yelp
No sense of urgency, arrived at 4 PM on Labor Day got sat immediately, but wasn't even greeted for 23 minutes. Tables had dirty glass where on them which to me showed it wasn't that busy. Was told the server will be a minute but after I mentioned something at 15 minutes. It was the only male server on the floor whilst the other servers were greeting tables 1-3 minutes after being sat. The food was okay but you just get put off by waiting a long time to be noticed.

Owen M.

Yelp
It was Wednesday but not your typical Wednesday. One that requires booze after a long day of work. Our hunk of a bar tender was a dream, so kind and considerate to put one extra shot in my drink. I think he just knew I had a bad day. Would highly recommend coming to the snuggly buggly harbor for a drink after a long day. Will be coming back again!

April B.

Yelp
Food. Serena, our waitress, was lovely. The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was mediocre at best and, personally, I was very disappointed. It is not that hard to make a decent piece of fish, but this restaurant managed to serve it dry, tasteless, overbreaded, and overcooked.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
Definitely a "high-end" place, but their mock-tails and food were good. Ambiance was great, server was friendly and waterfront view can't be beat.

Ken M.

Yelp
Beware they charge a 3 percent service fee without telling you up front. It's apparently to recoup from a previous fire loss. Service was good food was less than mediocre. Smallest lobster roll I have ever seen one hour wait on food n
google avatar

Marie W.

Yelp
For the first time, we figured out we could sit on the lower deck on the waterside of the building. My husband had a burger and chips and I ordered a crunchy shrimp roll. He said his burger was fantastic and the crunchy shrimp roll was amazing. The shrimp was very crunchy, the sauce was great and the vegetables in the roll were crisp. We will be back for the roll alone!!
google avatar

trudy M D.

Yelp
Wonderful lakeside dining at Snug Harbor. Charming place to eat, food was great and fabulous service
google avatar

Amber G.

Yelp
This place is a joke. You're paying for the view. Overpriced drinks and Chex mix from a bag on a paper plate for NINE DOLLARS. Ridiculous. No way this place stays in business. Thumbs down.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Never been here- but. Enjoyed the visit. It was a business lunch with five of us during the week, so it wasn't busy. We ordered a few appetizers, which were prepared thoughtfully and tasted good. The best part was our waitress- on the ball and lots of fun. Check them out

Jacob W.

Yelp
Wowzers the food is good. It's god a really good view of the river and pier. The service is fantastic as well!

Belinda V.

Yelp
The food was out of this world! Sitting on the outside patio we had a fantastic view of the sunset and the ships arriving from a day on Lake Michigan Service was slow, but the patio was crowded and we had declined an offer to be seated inside The tab was high, but the money was worth it The crusted steak and the scallops were divine
google avatar

Gretchen D.

Yelp
Love everything about this place ! Food, drinks and the view is amazing. I eat here when visiting family .

A K N.

Yelp
Food - Caesar salad had no dressing. We asked for a side of salad dressing. When the wait staff brought a container, it was plain mayonnaise. The bread flight was not crusty, but sweet bread. The wait staff was great and removed the salad from the bill. However, the burger was dry and the onions were not grilled as requested. This is the first week of the new menu- very disappointing. The location is lovely, the room was filled and the view was wonderful. Sad about the food.

Raman K.

Yelp
Great view...but that's about it. Service was slow. Calamari was rubbery and bland. Fried chicken sandwich was bland. Chicken on the salad was rubbery and...bland. The bar has a very weak pour - stick to cans/bottles. Definitely a place that relies on its view to carry it through. If it was inland it wouldn't make it.
google avatar

Aileen B.

Yelp
A solid 2 1/2 so I'll round up to 3. The third star is for the view from the patio. Two stars for the food and service. There were a number of open tables when we arrived, yet it still took dinner almost an hour to arrive at the table. My husband and I shared fish and chips. I would not order this again. It tasted like fish with flour coating and was so overdone that the edges were quite chewy. The fries were good, and the coleslaw was just like you find in a tub in the grocery store. Service was beyond slow, and it didn't appear to be due to staff shortages. On the bright side, it was nice sitting on the patio with a view of the bustling street on one side, and the lake on the other, so that brought the stars up to three. I could go on about what I didn't like, but why? :) I hope that your experience is 5 stars and my experience wasn't the norm.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
Came here with my parents; party of 6 overall. Had Bloody Mary's, appetizers, and a variety of main dishes. Everyone was happy. It was well worth the short wait and price. Considering it is one of the few places on the water it is hard to double guess the wait or price. I specifically had the Jerk Chicken rice bowl. Others were equally as pleased with the chicken burrito, chicken sandwich, blackened chicken salad and portobello mushroom sandwich. Seems like everything on the menu is perfectly crafted. I can't stress enough the mushroom au gratin is out of this world! A MUST try!! Also our waitress was great. Best / biggest tip I have left in a long time. Absolutely and must visit, I highly recommend and will be back!

Yelp
What an amazing surprise tonight's dinner was! The new menu is so delightful and complex but comfortable and delicious. We had so many fantastic things - for apps: Prosciutto Crostini, Baked Brie and Mussels. The sauce with the mussels was so good just to dip bread in! I had the filet and I have to tell you the char crust is beyond good. Every bite was so delicious, and I had to slow down and dip my bite in the béarnaise sauce to enjoy the amazing taste. The Caesar dressing is great. Oh and try the risotto- it's soooo good! Topped off with crème brûlée it was such a great meal. We really enjoyed the ambience and Shelby, our server was attentive, informative and fun. Get out of the house and get to Snug. You will be happily surprised at the change.

Yelp
Jenna Rae provided awesome service with a great attitude, customer friendly!! Food was delicious!

Ana E.

Yelp
Not sure how this place doesn't have five stars. Friendly, delicious, elevated dishes. Shrimp cocktail was to die for. Homemade chunky cocktail sauce. Lobster roll, snug harbor roll, scallops, and oysters were also great.

Yelp
Rachel was the best server super kind food was great kinda pricey but worth the view. Everything tasted great I got full super quick the food came out back to back my girlfriend loved their red wine it really gave her the buzz she needed.

Yelp
I was excited to visit Snug Harbor after being away from GH for 27 years. So trying to keep my memory v. current experience at bay was hard. Of course a remodel was done and I was not impressed. Felt empty and cold. I came with some friends to have drinks after dinner at another old establishment that was underwhelming also. But back to Snug, as we sat at the bar to have some cocktails and watch football. Low choices of Bourbon, only two, Woodford and Knob. Bar was messy and had clutter on floor. Bartender did not appear to knowledgeable and this goes past trying or wanting to learn. With the appearance of the redesigned Lower level I would expect craft cube cocktails. Looks like I will hang on to my awesome memories.

S V.

Yelp
Jenna Rae was an awesome server! She was very attentive to us, even though the kitchen made mistakes she was awesome. Seafood pasta was delish!

Jamie E.

Yelp
Rosie was and the food was great. Thank you for the wonderful setting and clean area. Give Rosie a raise

Yelp
Beautiful deck, excellent service from Claudia, and great food. The drinks were perfect as well. We had New England clam chowder, excellent and mushrooms au gratin. Our intention were to split fish and chips, they looked delicious, alas, we were too full.
