The 21 Best Restaurants In Palo Alto

"So Gong Dong Tofu House is where Stanford students can escape the dining hall for great tofu soup. While the wait (and road rage in the tiny parking lot) at this Korean spot off of El Camino might test your patience, the gochugaru-filled tofu stew is worth it. There are 16 different varieties, but the dumpling version is the best thanks to the contrast between the chewy dumpling wrappers and the silky smooth tofu. Each bowl is served with plenty of banchan, and they also have a few bibimbap and some KBBQ items like bulgogi. But the soup is why you’re willing to put up with the guy shouting from his Tesla. " - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez

Solid place for solid Korean food! Went there during off peak timing (1.30pm) on a weekend and it was pretty full. There are a number of parking spaces but I supposed you may need to park by the roadside during peak hours. When I got there, it was one of two empty slots left. Side dishes were delicious and free flow. Main dishes tasted even better!! We had the chicken bulgogi (they only served dinner size on weekends) and it is huge. Value for money for sure! We also had seafood tofu soup and it tasted really good. Even with the tips, the price point for the food is still very worth it. And if you can’t finish it, remember to ask for packing boxes. Folks are efficient and friendly! They are always checking if we need to top up our side dishes. I am definitely going back there again each time I have cravings!

Google
My go-to local spot for delicious Korean food ever since high school! I’ve tried almost all their main dishes from bibimbap to soondubu to naengmyeon, and they are all absolutely scrumptious! Very generous portions as well, though prices have increased over the years. The banchan is also great and they do refill them upon request without extra charge.

I'm not the biggest fan of Korean cuisine, but I had a good experience at SGD I ordered the Seafood Soft Tofu Soup, which was warming & filling. My friends enjoyed their orders too, including the Bulgogi Pork and Beef Dolsot. The vibes are cozy but maybe a bit too tight. The service seems a little frenetic - the food doesn't take long to arrive, but it's tricky to get a hold of a waiter. If you're a fan of or interested in Korean food, I'd check SGD out at least once.

Loved the food, atmosphere, how they keep track & make sure you have everything you need to have a wonderful experience! Will be back for sure!

Google
You can't beat the consistency, flavor, and the tasty bonchon side dishes at SGD tofu house. Service is impeccable and very attentive. Maybe a bit pricy but everything is super flavorful.

The food was better than I thought and the atmosphere was cool too. The service is good but after you get your food the service could be a whole lot better.

Updated [Dine in]: My husband and I went there on May 17, 2025 for dinner. We ordered the Fish Egg Tofu Soup which was their signature dish. It was disgusting. There was a strong fishy smell that smelt like it was rotten. After we had the dinner, we both felt unwell that night. [Delivery] The pork is good. Tofu soup is smaller than I expected.

Google
Food is really good and spicy, loved the kimibap I don't know how to write properly spelling of that . And the tofu soup with fish eggs so yum.. atmosphere is small but cozy. Service was good. Loved the side dishes

Yelp
맛있다! If you're craving Korean food this is the spot. There's a reason why people line up waiting for this place to open their doors for dinner service. Pretty sure they got some Korean harmony in the back kitchen slinging away. Kbbq, LA style galbi, tofu soup, hot stone pot rice bowls, side dishes SGD got it all! As soon as the waitress dropped the pan chan we ate them all up before the main course was serviced because they were all sooo good. Great service from the team. Our waitress refilled the side dishes before they were even empty! Main entrees come in very generous portions great for sharing. Will be adding SGD to the rotation from now on.

Yelp
A solid spot for Korean comfort food in Palo Alto! I thought the tofu soups were quite reasonably priced for the area, but that a lot of the appetizers looked pricy. A lot of the prices also had seemingly random cent amounts attached to them which was interesting to note- not sure what the reason for this is. I ordered the spicy chicken tofu soup and really enjoyed my meal! The soup came with the egg already added into it (vs other tofu soup spots that have you crack the raw egg into the hot soup on your own), and had a satisfying portion of chicken and tofu in it. I also really enjoyed the banchan dishes here (with free refills!)- my favorites were the bean sprouts and fish cake. Parts of the restaurant feel a bit cramped, the area we were seated in had tables that were quite close together and that detracted a little from the ambiance for me, but the quality of food and service made up for it. Location is very convenient and I'm happy to have discovered my new go to spot for tofu soup in PA!

Yelp
I came here for dinner on a Thursday night and there was a bit of a wait. The host gives you a menu and you order while you wait for your table to expedite the process which I thought was efficient. There is a parking lot but it's small and was packed. You can find parking on the street though. There seems to be outdoor seating but not sure if it's still used. The interior is small. T4. Dumpling soft tofu soup (4/5): I picked the medium spice level but probably should've done spicier. I wasn't sure of the levels since it was my first time there. I opted for the egg in the soup. The dumpling was nice and meaty. There were bits of beef as well. The tofu soups come with purple rice and banchan but there are some entrees that won't. You just have to read the menu to see which ones. Overall it was a good try! It was definitely a nice spot for a cold winter night. There are plenty of other dishes on the menu aside from tofu soups so I'd probably come back and try those as well.

Yelp
Very solid spot for korean food; my friend and I love the fact they have many vegetarian options which is always nice to see/not as common? Classic beef stone pot bibimbab and the Cheese Soft Tofu Soup was soooo good, the cheese complimented it well opposed to overpowering it/making it feel heavy. Refillable side dishes that were tasty on their own, service was nice too! I would come back a third time to try their other dishes for sure!

Yelp
1st Visit and NOT the last My rating is overall 5 stars for customer services even while busy on a Thursday night AND the quality of their soon dobu (tofu soup). I found this location through Yelp while craving some healthy Korean food and boy am I glad that my friends and I walked in. We ordered the Kimchi, Pork, Mushroom -- Kimchi, Beef, Mushroom -- Clam, Oyster, Shrimp -- and Dumpling, Rice Cake, Beef tofu soups + BULGOGI. Bulgogi 9.5/10 Flavor was spot on! Juicy, not dry. I loved putting the hidden grilled onions into my soon dobu. Only reason why I docked 0.5 was because it didn't come out sizzling but it was hot. I like it when my stone plates of meat come out freshly sizzling. Dumpling Soon Dobu 11/10 I moved here 3 years ago and searched high and low for a tofu house. Berkeley spots have nothing on this side of the Dumbarton bridge. Let's go Palo Alto! I loved the rice cakes texture in mine. Even though I got non-spicy, the soup is still so flavorful. I like adding in the banchan I enjoy like the japchae, potato stew, and bean sprouts into my soup to give it different texture as well. There is a good amount of beef included in my soup as well which came out boiling hot and bubbling (how I like it)! Banchan 11/10 I can't do spicy due to health reasons but I tried the kimchi anyway and duuude it is sooo fresh. The Gojijan sauce is fire and thick. Cabbage has had its time to soak it in just enough so it's marinated but not super sour and fermented. That's how you can tell they make this in house. Japchae isn't too oily and it's lightly tossed with veggies including bell pepper and mushroom. The freshly sesame oiled bean sprouts are a classic along with the freshly made cucumber rice vinegar slices. Although, the fav banchan item that takes my taste buds for the win has to be the potato stew. Idk what this is called, if someone knows please help me so I can find a recipe to make it at home. But it is super tender stewed potatoes that belong in a galbijim but it's in a different stew sauce that it's been soaked it and served warm. I can't believe all these little dishes are unlimited. All in all we paid $150 with tip for 4 people, each with their own soups, sharing a meat dish, celebrating a birthday so I'd say it was definitely affordable as well. I see a revisit in the near future! My only beef with the place is I'm in Alameda so it is a crazy drive but worth it in my book for the gram and the Yelpies! SYOY ~ ENJOY!!

Yelp
Solid soondobu spot! I had the mandu soondubu They serve a lot of banchan with your meal. The service is attentive although a little rushed. It can get pretty busy but there are inside seats and an outside patio too. Gets super busy during dinner time.

Yelp
Arrived on a weekday for lunch with my colleague and the restaurant was already buzzing before noon. I was excited to see a vegetarian section of the menu that included a number of rice, noodle, and soup dishes. I ordered the udon tofu soup, which was soondooboo chiggae with udon noodles. It arrived in a piping hot stone bowl that was still boiling. It was filled with soft tofu, thick chewy udon, and zucchini in a spiced broth. I got medium spice (#3) and it was just the right level for me, and quite spicy. I also enjoyed most of the banchan, and the wait staff was kind enough to point out that high were not vegetarian (the kimchi and the tofu skin). I loved the sweet potatoes, cucumber, and glass noodles. Colleague enjoyed her vegetarian bibimbap which was served in the traditional dolsot (stone bowl).

Yelp
I went here with friends and I had been craving Korean food for a while now. I ordered the Yuk Gae Jang which was very warm and comforting. The broth was flavorful and there was a variety of veggies used such as onions, green beans, bean sprouts, etc. There was some spice to it but nothing too overpowering. It also came with a side of purple rice which was nice to eat with the soup. The complimentary side dish's were also good and had a decent portion. The service here was good and this place has a simple and clean feel to it. Overall, this place has comforting food and I will be back.

Yelp
Haven't been here in over a decade, but the food is just as good as I remembered! There are so many Korean spots in the Bay Area, and this one is still going strong! It's a good spot if you have a group since you can order several different dishes and share. The service is quick and friendly, and the food comes out hot and tasty!

Yelp
An awesome huge place for vegetarian Korean food . Spacious, Clean, courteous in service, quick and no - nonsense. We were looking for pure vegetarian and found many options. Asked for the fried Tofu pancakes in appetizers and edamame. For the main course we asked for the tofu soup and Bibibamp. Food was delicious. Portion size is generous. Sides are yummy too.

Yelp
I always get the seafood pancake in a Korean restaurant that doesn't just serve kbbq as an indicator of how good the place is and this place killed it! The pancake was flaky, yet fluffy, and the texture was absolutely delectable. The dough was light and overall it was simply delicious. Loaded with various seafood items, it could've been a meal in itself. I also got the cold noodles and that was also delicious. The sauce for the noodles was sweet and spicy and all the fixings (egg, cucumber, beef, and radish) added to the overall refreshing experience of a good bowl of cold noodles on a hot summer day. The noodles were al dente as well and chewy as they should be. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu!

Yelp
Honestly this was fricking lit, they let me sub the pork dumplings for veggie in my beef tofu boil and it was divine. Food is fresh and tasty, service could be better but it was also incredibly busy when we were there so def understandable

Yelp
So Gong Dong: a busy hub for great Korean soups. Love that they provide banchan (complimentary assortment of side dishes) although IMO they were more atypical choices. FOOD [5/5] ========= + Cheese Soft Tofu Soup w/Beef (5/5) So so so delicious. Cannot overstate how creamy and savory this soup is. The cheese is very well incorporated into the soup so that it just enhances the flavor with a more creamy and rich taste. I thought the portion size of beef was okay, and the tofu is very soft so it breaks apart in the soup easily. This pairs really well with the rice! AMBIANCE [4/5] ============= The restaurant is really busy and was a 20 minute wait even right at closing time. The seats are close together and the volume is pretty loud because of how packed the interior is. I would come back to So Gong Dong! The quality of food is great here, and the price is very reasonable once you factor in the banchan. :)

Yelp
It's not easy to find a great Korean tofu stew spot in the Bay Area, but out of the places we've tried, Sogongdong (SGD) is our favorite. I usually go for the dumpling tofu stew at medium spice--it's rich, flavorful, and hearty, though I wouldn't mind a few extra dumplings! My husband always orders the seafood stew, also medium spicy, and really enjoys it. We like to share an order of LA galbi, which adds the perfect sweet contrast to the savory stew. If you're craving satisfying Korean comfort food, SGD is a solid choice. Both times we visited, it was pretty busy, but they have ample seating and the service has always been good. I'd recommend as a casual date spot for good food.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times, and have thoroughly enjoyed the food here each time. This time I got the bulgogi beef and seafood soft tofu soup, along with haemul pajun and squid ddeokkbokki. The soft tofu soup never disappoints: the tofu blends perfectly with the soup, the added egg maintains a good soft boil, and lots of seafood added in. The pajun has a nice crisp and good dough to ingredient ratio. The beef has good flavor and texture. I like the interior decoration and the service is relatively fast. Worth coming back multiple times to try each of the soups

Yelp
Solid korean tofu house. A bit pricey but I'd say its standard for bay area. I got the seafood+beef tofu soup and we got the ice noodle dish as well. All super flavorful. The ice dish was not THAT cold, more lukewarm warm. The side dishes were great and they are more than happy to give you more!

Yelp
Pretty spacious restaurant and service was quick. Parking is a breeze too which is a plus. Food was delicious! Banchan was good and I loved that they gave purple rice instead of white rice along with the tofu soup. The tofu soup was flavorful and everything overall was great! Would definitely come back when I'm in the area and want soondubu. Restaurant is spacious but tables/seats are close to each other, so it can get quite loud during the meal.

Yelp
Lovely, pricey Korean spot with good portions and solid eats. Came on a weekday evening around 6 pm and was seated quickly with my group, but we did see it was busy and there was a wait by 6:30-7pm. There were plenty of little side dishes like cucumber, potato, kimchi, and bean sprouts. Each of the main dishes came with a side of purple rice. Food: -Jap chae (5/5) - a great portion for sharing, had good taste and perfect texture. Noodles were bouncy and not slimy. -Dumpling tofu soup (5/5) - the mild is SPICY!! Was delicious but beware of the spice if you're sensitive! -Beef Stone Pot Bibimbap (4/5) - HUGE portion, I feel like this could be split into two or 3 meals for me. The beef was yummy but a bit bland, could have been seasoned more. -BBQ beef Short Rib (5/5) - the STAR of the show for me. The short rib was fall of the bone and melt in your mouth tender and seasoned spectacularly. - RamYum Dukbokki (5/5) - definitely got spicier as the meal went on. Comes with lots of delicious rice cakes! More of a meal size than an appetizer. There is plenty of parking and seating in the restaurant. It was quite busy when we went, so it was hard to get a hold of staff, but understandable. Although it was pricey (total of the meal was $130 for 3 people), we did have lots of leftovers and left with happy tummies. Would definitely recommend this place!!

Yelp
If you need a Korean cuisine fix in Palo Alto, this place is your only option but does a pretty good job. I've been here quite a few times over the years and liked my experiences here so far. I'd recommend getting here on the earlier end as even on Wednesday night, there was a short line outside. The upside is table turnover here is quite fast, because food is served up quickly. I think the sundubu (tofu stew) is pretty solid; a lot packed into a piping hot bowl, with purple and white rice on the side. Spiciness is adjustable across 5 levels. On my last visit, the short rib disappointed me a little - the meat was too tough and burnt on some ends. There was also a massive piece of entirely fat. For $35, I was expecting better. I do like the variety of banchan here though, and refills are fast. Service is efficient and impersonal. You order soon after sitting, and you have to flag servers down if you need anything. The remodeled interior is definitely a step up from what they had before. We've got some artwork spanning the walls and cuter lights. It used to be extremely bare bones and not as pleasant. Some tables are crammed a little close and you'll overhear tons of conversations, but that's the kind of atmosphere you'd expect here. If you're here with a large group they can probably accommodate you. Pretty large parking lot right outside as well.

Yelp
So Gong Dong Tofu House in Palo Alto was a decent spot for a casual meal, but honestly, the food didn't leave any lasting impression, especially since we've been spoiled by LA Koreatown's high quality spots. The cold noodles (냉면) were fine but nothing special, and the seafood pancake (해물파전) was a bit too greasy and didn't have enough filling for my liking. That said, the service was great. They were really on top of things, constantly refilling our banchan without our needing to ask, which is always appreciated. My kids loved the edamame. I know, I know. It's overpriced but it's the only greens I can get them to swallow. But that just spotlighted for me how expensive each dish is here. And I couldn't help but notice that most of the tables had families with young kids, like ours. Maybe they just put all the families together so we won't bother the other guests, so it did make the whole experience feel more relaxed since our kids' rowdiness was competing with the other tables' children. While the food wasn't mind-blowing, it's not a bad spot if you're looking for an easy, kid-friendly meal. Just don't expect Koreatown-level flavor. It also did feel so good to see a huge paper plastered on the front door that shows people's car broken into. Made me want to eat quickly and leave. I guess it's just a sign of the times.

Yelp
All time rude! But I guess that's what they say, the ruder the people the more authentic, although I must say their food is good (because there aren't many Korean options in Palo Alto) but not great. It was my 3rd or 4th time (trying) to go today but I left even before ordering. Same rudeness experienced today with a man who got snippy when I called to ask if they were open (because the OPEN sign outside was off) and he answered by saying "Well, I answered the phone, right? What a douche. So I went in anyway and I was alone and he gave me this table next to a big group. Mind you, there were other tables since it was early. But he decided to place me very close to the big group. I asked to be moved to the table next to it and the guy pauses and lets out a big sigh but did, anyway. The kicker was, he decided to throw the menu on the table that it nearly fell. What. An. Asshole. Nice job with service. I left and settled on the restaurant behind it-- Kanji Sushi, where everyone was nice. Again this is not the first time I had this rudeness experienced there. A year or so ago we went in the evening so this woman (must be the owner) says they were still open so we went in and ordered. Then as we had already ordered she tells us we need to be done in 30 mins because they were closing. Are you kidding me? Suffice it to say, poor service. All for the money. No class or business etiquette. But again as we often hear, the ruder they are the more authentic. Definitely not going back there again. Ever.

Yelp
We visited a friend in Palo Alto and decided to dine at So GongDong Tofu's house. It has a nice review on Yelp and decided to try it. We arrived at 5 pm and the place had only a few patrons inside. The place looks clean and has several tables and chairs. We were seated right away and after checking their menu, decided to order their tofu soup and beef stone pot bibimbab. The tofu soup was very hot and you've to be careful. The tofu soup is delicious. The bowl came big and can be shared with another person The bibimbad also came in a big bowl and was sizzling hot. It has rice underneath with beef and vegetables on top. This meal is also delicious and can be shared with another person. The beef was tender and sliced thinly. The rice stays warm at the bottom. This bowl is very generous in its serving. By the time we were done, the place got busier with several patrons walking in. A go-to place if you want tofu soup in Palo Alto.

Yelp
I went to SGD with my roommates on a Wednesday night. I was told normally, this place would be very busy on weekends, but we were able to get seated without wait. The servers were friendly, and actively refilled the side dishes without us requesting it, which is a nice touch. I ordered the fish egg soup with egg, and it was decent. The flavour of the soup was good, but the fish egg was a bit bland, and while the menu said it came with clams, there weren't many to be found. I think coming here for dinner on a weekday when you dont feel like cooking isn't a bad idea, but it wouldnt be something i recommed for anyone who wants to go out for a treat.

Yelp
Currently undergoing remodeling so space is cramped. They do have an outdoor park let seating area which can be good on a nice day. Wait time today was longer than usual as indoor seating is limited due to the remodeling. Food is good although it continues to increase in price. They are not as generous as they used to be on their bonchon offerings. Not sure but may have change ownership as the usual people were not there today.

Yelp
So glad we beat the lunch rush and was able to snag the last table. If we hadn't been so lucky we would have placed our names on the waist list. Our party of 3 got to ordering immediately and decided to go with a dumpling tofu stew and added ramen, the seafood pancake and the hot stone bibimbap. Of the three dishes I would say the seafood pancake and potato banchan were pretty yummy. The pancake was able to maintain its crispy texture throughout our meal and wasn't overly oily. There was also visible chunks of clams that I was able to taste. While the potato banchan was sweet and stewed to tenderness. The dumpling soup was pretty solid the addition of the ramen made for a fun bite. We asked the staff if they could include ramen in our soup and they agreed! Would recommend! The beef bibimbap retained enough heat to still have our leftovers steaming hot when we were packing up. We even got that signature crispy rice at the bottom! Other than the crispy rice the bibimbap was pretty standard. Great service and the food came out pretty quick! Great spot to get Korean.

Yelp
Soft Tofu Soup 4 cheese, oyster, fish eggs give thicker texture, crab has shells, mild was not spicy, medium flavorful BBQ Short Ribs 4 tender, slightly burnt / bitter Chicken Bibimbap 2 too much white rice, slightly sweet chicken, not flavorful

Yelp
I have ordered from this place a few times, but finally got to try it in person! Ordered the cheese soup and it was absolutely delicious! The little side dishes were also very good! The short rib was good, but I think compared to the other dishes were not as good! The service was good, they brought out the food and the side dishes very fast. The restaurant itself is pretty big but very busy!

Yelp
My dining experiences at this restaurant were characterized by hearty, wholesome Korean cuisine with a particular emphasis on soft tofu soup. The portion sizes packed a pleasant surprise with their density - with one meal being enough for a sociable dinner and leftover lunch the next day. The spicier options tantalized our tastebuds to an agreeable extent and the variety in the menu including dishes like dukbokki, seafood pancake, and BBQ beef short ribs won heavy praise among our group. However, it's important to touch upon two aspects of the dining experience, specifically the service and the prices. While the staff responded efficiently despite a bustling environment, a slightly rushed manner could sometimes encroach upon the friendly ambience they were aiming to provide. In regard to pricing, whilst slightly above average compared to similar eateries, the copious portion sizes could be argued to justify the bill. The atmosphere of the restaurant embodied a lively hustling spirit. This certainly lent itself to a dynamic and energizing dining experience, particularly if you appreciate a casual setting. The banchan - particularly the potatoes - were a standout, and we found ourselves going for seconds due to their scrumptious taste. Overall, this eatery fulfilled our yearnings for cushioning soft tofu soup and an array of authentic Korean dishes. Despite the slightly steep price and occasional rushed service, the impressive portion sizes and palatable flavours ensured we left satisfied and with a desire to return. The ability to order take-out or via DoorDash should not be underestimated either - a benefit for days when dining out might not be feasible.

Yelp
I was super jet lagged so hot tofu soup was not a want, but a NEED. It was busy when we arrived for lunch on a weekend (expected)! Waitresses running around, all tables full, and smoke filled the air as soup was a necessity on this freezing day. Service was quick, but she was not very friendly. She rushed us and I heard her doing this to other tables as well. I understand feeling stressed when you are busy, but it's possible to still provide a kind customer experience imo! We ordered the beef & kimchi tofu soup which comes with a side of purple rice and the seafood pancake. The seafood pancake was a bit too soggy/soft for my liking, but the hot tofu soup and banchan were deliciousss! So comforting on a cold day! Total: ~$55 with tip (not cheap for 2 items) Tip: Order the hot tofu soup and add instant ramen noodles! Soooo good!!

Yelp
My girlfriends and I were craving something hot because of the rainy weather. We were seated at a table quickly but a crowd of people followed not too long after us. The service was quick and everyone was really friendly. The restaurant was really crowded and the workers seemed a little overwhelmed so please be kind! -jap chae: (5/5 stars): Noodles were nicely cooked and not too oily. -ramyun dukbokki (5/5 stars): WARNING!! The mild was spicier than I thought but the flavor was amazing. The rice cakes were the best part. -dumpling soft tofu soup (5/5 stars): WARNING!! Mild was spicier than my friend thought, but one of the best tofu soups she's had. -bbq beef short rib (5/5 stars): I didn't try this dish but my friends really liked it. Very tender and seasoned well. -beef stone pot bibimbap (5/5 stars): Huge portion! Definitely could've shared. The price is a little more than some places but I think the size of the portions offset the cost. I can't wait to come back here but I'll definitely do not spicy next time. Haha

Yelp
Really good and hearty food! We came in on a Saturday afternoon and were seated quickly. The service was super speedy and everyone was very attentive. The banchan was tasty and came with refills. I had the vegetarian ramyun soft tofu soup with egg at medium spicy. Loved that there was a good amount of vegetables along with the ramyun and tofu. Medium spicy level was perfect for me - a kick that didn't make my tongue fall off.

Yelp
Wow! This is the best soft tofu soup I have had in the Bay Area. The restaurant and parking lot are quite large, so we did not have to wait to get a table. The banchan were delicious to start, and my original pork soft tofu soup with egg was incredible. I went with mild spice and it was perfect. Prices were reasonable for the quantity of food received. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
With a lack of korean food in Palo Alto, I truly feel So gong Dong Tofu house is a gem in the area. The service is prompt every time I go, even though they are always busy, they have provided the outdoor seating area which makes things for larger groups much easier. The indoor ambiance is much better than the outdoors, but the comforting food is what makes this a special place.

Yelp
Good flavors! Vegetable Dumpling Soft Tofu Soup and soft tofu soup were flavorful. Their spicy is around 8/10. Liked potato and glass noodles from the sides. There was a fermented side that had a weird taste. We walked in on a Saturday evening. Service was excellent as they were attentive to our table preferences.

Yelp
It's our goto spot for spicy tofu soup, now that we don't live in the city. I always do the kimchee soondoobu with beef spicy and it's great. My brother got the extra spicy and he couldn't really eat it and we're Korean haha. I mean he still ate it but he was sweating bullets. The galbi is also good but we only do that when we have a bigger group since it's pricey and it's just as good as la galbi. The people who work here are fast and accommodating, as it should be.

Yelp
Located along El Camino at the Mountain View and Palo Alto border, parking is plentiful but availability is a little tight. The interior seating is ample but there's a lot of people. The food is great. I really like the Pork Stone Pot Bibimbab. The Beef Bulgogi was also very good. I wished there were more onions. However, the beef was tender and juicy. The flavor was great too. Overall, Tofu House is a great place for some delicious Korean food.

Yelp
We came on Sunday during lunch and the restaurant was buzzing with people. It was a little bit stuffy inside. We ordered the combination tofu Soup and beef tofu soup. The broth was decent, flavourful albeit too salty for my liking. There was lots of clam meat in combination soup. Price is slightly high ($20 for soup) for the quantity and quality of food. Perhaps the other dishes are better.

Yelp
With Soft Tofu soup being my favorite food, I have to say this place is decent. I don't think onions fit well with soft tofu (at least I don't think it's common) so that was interesting with my ham and tofu soup. The side dishes were great though!! Which takes this review from 3 to 4 stars :)

Yelp
I'm between 3 and 4 stars for So Do Gong Tofu house. While the soup is quite good, the price and unremarkable side dishes are detractors from the score. Having lived in SoCal, I've had my fair share of incredible Korean food. As such, I feel like the tofu soup here is on par with places like BCD, but other elements of my meal left something to be desired. I came by SDG tofu with a friend close to closing time. The restaurant has its own parking lot though it is kind of cramped. The lot was still full when we came and it was rather difficult to park. We eventually got a spot and entered the restaurant where we were seated immediately. There seemed to be one Korean speaking and one non-Korean speaking server that evening. Both were friendly. The restaurant looks rather austere but clean. I ordered the fish roe soondubu (this is a tofu house after all!) but was honestly flabbergasted by the prices. $20 for tofu soup? This is probably going to become a dish I make exclusively at home from now on. Bibimbap was $20+ as well. We got about 6 side dishes, including kimchi, japchae, braised potato, cuccumber, spinach with gochujang, and soybean sprouts. Japchae was quite tasty but the potatoes were a bit too soupy, the soybean sprouts and spinach were too salty, and the kimchi was a bit too sharp for me. The cucumber was nice and refreshing. I got a medium spicy for my tofu soup and I was pleased to find that it packed the perfect amount of spice at that level. The fish eggs were plentiful and fresh tasting, and the broth was rich. I also love that they serve purple rice, always a plus in my books! Overall SDG tofu house is a pretty decent place to satisfy my soondubu craving. However, BCD soup packs the same lunch for much cheaper, so I am reconsidering future soondubu excursions. Perhaps they will take place at home instead.

Yelp
Ummm, hello!? We came here on a whim after missing a dinner reservation elsewhere (due to unforeseen circumstances!) We were starving after a 6+ hour activity and wanted somewhere close-by and eat ASAP. We picked this place because we love our Korean cuisine, and also, I am always happily surprised when I see mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle) on the menu because it's not offered at all Korean restaurants. This will honestly be my new go-to Korean restaurant if I'm in the area! Parking is easy and there appears to be both indoor and outdoor seating. As we walked in, the first thing I had mentioned to my partner was that I really liked the vibe. It felt authentic, family-friendly, fast-paced but not too overwhelming, and the workers all seemed very efficient and polite. We were seated immediately and I swear that our order came out within 5-7 minutes of ordering. Maybe less??? Despite the speedy turnaround, the food tasted fresh and well-prepared. I ordered the Cold Noodles served with Cold Beef Broth which was delicious and refreshing. I really enjoyed the added pickled radish which made it even more refreshing! The meat was a bit chewy, but an easy fix would be cutting it to smaller pieces. I do wish it came with slightly more beef though. The noodles were nice and chewy and the portion was appropriate; decent sized but not enough to make me overly full and uncomfortable. I'm so happy I found a place that serves this dish because it's honestly the best for hot weather. There's also a spicy option if that is what you prefer. We also ordered the Pork Stone Pot Bibimbap. SOO good! It was portioned well to have a nice bit of both protein, vegetables, and rice with every bite. It was super flavorful and we love the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot. The stone pot also kept the dish nice and hot throughout the meal. I would order this again. Waitress stopped by and politely placed the check on our table when we were done. Maybe by pure coincidence, or they are just THAT attentive and efficient.. but we had justttt finished our food and was able to sit around for just a few minutes without feeling either too rushed or waiting too long for the check to come. I hope every visit will be just like this!

Yelp
The food was so flavorful and good. The only downside was that you had to pay extra for an egg and they also charged us for extra sides. At most places I've been to, they didn't do that to me but the food was still good nonetheless.

Yelp
My coworker and I wanted something warm after work and tofu soup definitely hit the spot! This is my favorite location because they have the cheese tofu soup. The bulgogi was still steaming hot on the stone pan. This place is always super busy! The quality went down after Covid but I haven't been back since.

Yelp
Vegetable dumpling tofu soup, hot spice level - filled with lots of veggie dumplings and some zucchini and carrot in addition to the tofu. I couldn't tell what the veggie dumplings were filled with but they were nice and tender. The soup came out super hot and bubbly, just how I like it. Hot was a bit too spicy for me, I should really get the medium next time. I was a fan of the banchan they gave, with the surprise favorite being the sweet potato! Potato side dishes are rarely my favorite but this sweet potato was seasoned with the perfect blend of sweet and savory that keeps you coming back! They give purple rice which is always a plus for me.

Yelp
When we arrived, the restaurant was packed so would recommend going early. You wait outside and then place your order at a station outside and then they bring you inside and bring you your food. Ambiance wise it's definitely packed and a bit on the louder side. The food was great, wish they added more seafood in the tofu soup.

Yelp
i came here on a wednesday night with a group of 5 around 7 pm. there's a small lot for parking surrounding the restaurant. there was a bit of a wait for a table, but they took our orders while we waited. for banchan, my group really liked the potatoes. we all ordered soft tofu soup. the portion sizes were surprisingly large - the bowls don't look that big, but i guess the contents are pretty dense. i only finished 1/2 to 2/3 of my bowl and took the rest to-go. we thought that the prices were a little high for soft tofu soup. overall a solid spot for a casual meal!

Yelp
I regret to say that my experience with the bulgogi beef was quite disappointing. Given the premium price, I expected a higher quality dish, but it lacked flavor and was unfortunately very bland. Additionally, when I requested more sauce, I was informed to wait, but it was never provided. This experience did not meet my expectations.

Yelp
I had a great time at SGD. Everything we ordered was amazing! I got the fish and tofu soup with medium spice and it was really good! It was just the right amount of spice and had great flavor. We also got the tteokbokki to share and that was delicious! It was more sweet and the rice cakes were chewy. All of the bonchon were sooo tasty as well. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
This is my go-to place for soft tofu stew! It can get a bit busy here, but they have additional seating outside, and I've never had to wait long for a table. They have a wide variety of options, including those that are vegetarian. I typically go with the seafood, mushroom, or cheese one. Recently, I tired the fish egg one. They are amazing if you add ramen to them, especially the cheese one. I have yet to try them, but they also sell bibimbap, BBQ dishes, and naengmyeon. Overall, I'd highly recommend!
