"To convey the unique character of the soba, the owner-chef prepares juwari with no wheat flour. He made the stone mortar he uses to grind the flour himself, back when he was an apprentice. The entire shop reverberates with the sound of buckwheat being ground slowly so as to retain the fragrance. In addition to soba, Rojina offers items that pair well with alcohol. Tofu with yuba on top and manganji togarashi with jako are two typical Kyoto appetisers served before the soba." - Michelin Inspector

Cash only. Very fresh and tasty ingredients. The lemon soba noodles were nice and chewy. The duck soba broth was delicious but noodles weren’t as chewy. Tempura ingredients were fresh but the batter wasn’t crunchy. I would come back again and try the dashimaki and dipping soba as many locals seemed to be ordering that.

A cozy little Japanese restaurant specializing in soba. The duck and yuzu soba were good but the sauce of the classic cold soba was a little too bland. Perhaps a little bit more green onions, ginger and wasabi might enhance the flavour more. All of their soba noodles were on the softer size, not as chewy, and the buckwheat flavour weren’t that strong too.

Was recommended this duck soba place by the hotel and it was good to slurp up the cold noodles after 2 hours of cycling around the city! There are both hot and cold soba options but it seems their speciality is the duck soba so be sure to check it out! The broth had both depth and flavor and you get to enjoy the hot broth after eating the cold soba. They will give you a small pot of the hot broth and we basically finished up all the soup! It’s a small local Japanese store with around 10 counter seats and 2 additional tables of 4 persons each.

This place has a Bib Gourmand on the Michelin guide, but honestly it's a little underwhelming compared to other affordable soba places in the area.

Small intimate soba shop off the beaten tracks. Noodles were light and delicious. Service was polite. English menu available.

Real buckwheat noodles! I had the cold noodle with yuzu? in the most delicate cold broth. We also had the pickled vegetables and the vegetable and shrimp tempura in a light and crispy batter. The flavors were so delicate!

Incredibly slow service….. felt like it was intentional as the staff were also quite rude and dismissive. Confused. Servings are small
