Coming from So Cal, we miss the beach and the vibe. This place only lacks the beach. We've been here about 4 times now. Our only interactions and service have been from the owners and it's been great. Each time we've come we've enjoyed our food and drinks. We've stuck mainly to the Shrimp and Mahi Mahi tacos and calamari sticks and Onion Rings, and our kids enjoy some of the many choices they have, all of which are very good. Our latest experience was still good, but the single server who was working was almost overwhelmed. He was taking care of business with what he had, so I'll give him that, but it was a comment he made that was off-putting. I had the stomach flu for 5 days and hadn't had a drink or been out in over a week, to work included. I wanted to come to this place at happy hour with my family and enjoy it, which we did. We had some good conversations with nearby tables. So I asked if we could get one more margarita as we had about 2 minutes till happy hour ended. He said "OK" and then before he heads inside he says "I better get a good tip!". I get he was flustered with the amount of people coming in, but I've been in the service industry for 37 years, you don't say that kinda thing. Because I work in the industry and he got things very quickly to us, I did tip him a little over 20% and I'll tell you why. I've been there in that type of situation and had people stiff me or complain, when it is the restaurants choice to understaff, not the servers. And maybe he did have that happen to him during all that, so I paid cash and I did get a "thank you" after he collected it and came back out. So this is more a note to him to take it easy, and don't say that kinda thing. Take it from someone who was a serial complainer, and got some good words of advice from a co-worker when I'd gotten stiffed or insulting tips..."Don't let em burn you twice" (As in, don't let it affect your mood and state of mind!)
