Celebrated my daughters 17th Birthday here. The service was nothing short of PERFECT! The staff was extremely accommodating with all 8 of us. EVERYONE enjoyed what was chosen and they didn’t break the bank. I’ve always had nothing short of greatness here.

Google
An all around perfect spot. I had dinner here for the first time this evening and I was blown away with the service, the ambiance, the food, and the drinks. In all, I would say this is one of my new “go to” spots. The staff was kind and friendly. The food was absolutely scrumptious. Hands down the best brick chicken I have ever had. And the drinks were delicious and perfectly balanced. I would love to come back for one of their rooftop events/nights.

My wife loved this place so i gave it a shot. Out waitres was really kind and responsive, but the food missed the mark. I ordered a skillet and i love the idea of building your own - really fun idea. But unfortunately a few things about the skillet were pretty bad. The hash browns were basically raw - maybe some people like them that way but i believe hash browns should be crispy. The “heirloom tomatoes” were just cherry tomatoes, and the house sausage tasted like plant based sausage. My son got the kids grilled cheese which is served on multigrain bread which is… a choice. Not a choice he loved. Fries were good but not crispy at all. Anyway, it was packed so maybe we are just not the target demographic. Seems like standard food with a menu written by chatgpt to sound fancy with cute decor so if that’s your thing this might be the spot for you

This review is definitely about to be a very Gen Z take on things. After a six-year hiatus, I decided to revisit this place, and I must say, it is better than I remember from my last visit. However, the drinks still didn’t quite meet my expectations, lacking the complexity I had hoped for. On the positive side, the meatballs and green beans were absolutely delicious. They might just be enough to convince me to come back more often, just for those two items alone. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was perfect for a group outing. It had a bohemian vibe mixed with 03’ Californian style, making it ideal for those seeking a lighthearted and casual atmosphere.

This is one of my new favorite restaurants! First time dining at social with friends, went in with no expectations and left with nothing but an overall amazing experience! From the food to service and atmosphere, Social delivered. The crab dip was insanely delicious! Seasonal menu outstanding! Desserts were craving worthy!! Highly recommend.

Google
Kale salad with salmon was perfect with a shared order of truffle fries. Lovely server made the lunch even better. Atmosphere is fun and hip. The cocktails looked delicious, but we were driving so sadly missed out.

Great food and drinks. Amazing staff. Definitely recommend the lox scramble and the truffle fries.

It was my friends and i first time ever coming and we came around 12:45 pm and it was not hard to find but there wasn’t much parking on the street, which was expected since it was a Wednesday afternoon. The ambiance was so cute, welcoming and cozy! Our server Melissa was wonderful! She was very informing, checked up on us frequently, communicative, and overall outstanding! I had the Chicken and Waffles and it was the most amazing thing i’ve ever had! It was savory and sweet but not overpowering one another and it had maple syrup underneath the waffle so it’ll soak up the syrup and it was the perfect amount of it with bits of bacon hidden under the chicken which topped it off for me. Would definitely come back and enjoy another brunch or have a nice dinner when it’s darker outside and more dimmed and warm feeling like!

Yelp
Social provides great food and ambiance for a quiet time with family or friends. I often go here when I need to have intimate conversations. The portions are generous and the customized salads are my mainstay. Love, love, love the butternut squash bisque with jalapeños! Just a touch of spicy, smooth and satisfying! Service is attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Never rush you out when you're locked into deep conversations. Try it! You will love it!

Frederick R.

Yelp
Came in for happy hour today Got the bang bang shrimp which was great and the chicken sliders also delicious. Liz took care of us and did a great job. Would come back and get the same thing next time. Good portions for the price in Birmingham and really tasty.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Says it all in the name! This is a great place for a community the drinks are fun and the food is to die for. Period!

Elaine W.

Yelp
Good ambiance. Good service. Salad is decent but not amazing. Dressing is a little too much for my liking. Hard to finish due to the overtly sweet and sour taste. Only had brunch available so not many options on the menu for us.

Michael T.

Yelp
Got the cheeseburger and the kids cheeseburger. They are made with beef and pork belly, an interesting mix. The flavor was neutral. Not too fatty despite the pork belly, not too salty, not too oily. However there were areas that were cooked a little too thoroughly and burned as a consequence. The chips are house made and bbq flavored, again appreciated due to its light taste and not too oily/sweet. Fries are small and non-crispy, just ok. Atmosphere is nice. Service was ok but the waitress clearly was busy with many tables besides ours, which was ok. Kid cheeseburger is 1/2 size of main cheeseburger, which was $19. I don't think it was worth $19 however given the the atmosphere and location can understand it.

Yelp
10/10 highly recommend brunch at the social! I love the skillets, you get to select all your options and don't forget to order the donuts! They taste like an elephant ear, so good. Very fresh and flavorful.

Shannon C.

Yelp
Cool vibes, very chill chic restaurant. Perfect date night spot! Service was a little slow at 8pm on a Saturday but everyone was super kind and sweet! The food was amazing, everything was top notch. A bit expensive but completely worth the cost and I'd come back!

Adam M.

Yelp
I went last night and had the beef pasta. That beef pasta left me tossing and turning all night. My buddy had the same thing and said the same thing this morning. This restaurant was more than a disappointment, it was highway robbery for the price they charge. My other friend's burger was bright pink and he asked for medium well. The donuts were good tho. But overall, this gets a big "DANE IT" from me and my group.

Hasan I.

Yelp
TLDR : I coudn't even try the food to write a review as it was over an hour wait needed with a half full restaurant. If you have plans for after brunch and you're deadset on coming here, cancel your plans and expect to sit for a while. Good luck! Social has been on top of my brunch lists for quite some time as it has been recommended by multiple people time and time again. I'm here to tell you, that Social Kitchen & Bar did not come close to meeting my standard at all...it actually set a standard for me of what not to accept when going out to eat. For starters, we came to Social at a reasonable time, post Sunday Church Brunch hours, and were met with a very nice greeting from the hostess. Once seated, we were met by our server, who we believe had many other tables both on the main floor but also on the upper level. We were greeted by her and then did not see her for ~15-20 mins to give us waters and explain the menu. After another 15 mins went by, she returned, took our orders and left. This is where the already mediocre experience became a downhill. Our sever was gone for over 45mins, the food never arrived, and once two skillets were presented in our face, they were quickly removed and placed on another table with the server saying "whoopsie, that's not for you, haha." After another 10 mins, we made a deal that if the food did not arrive within 8 mins, we would have left. Low and behold, the food arrived. Please brace yoursevles for this. We, as a party of 3, ordered : 1. Salad with Seared Chicken 2. Skillet with Chicken (x2) The salad came out and the chicken was cold. Once asked about the cold chicken, we received attitude to "hand it over" and then the person who did so took it and left. Upon inspection of our skillets, we were utterly shocked. Both skillets with Chicken did not have the protein and the food was not warm. The picture attached to this review is also here to show the $3 addition of having the avocado added, this is only a sliver of what was expected. After all of this, I'll leave it with this : Unless you have nothing else going on that day, or you want to waste a lot of time instead of being home, please go to Social. If you don't, I'd reccommend reconsidering coming to this establishment.

Heather G.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Huge portion sizes on several dishes, especially French fries. The service could be a bit faster/more attentive, seemed like they may have been short staffed though so maybe that was a one off.

Lauren J.

Yelp
I love making my own salad bowl and they have so many ingredients to choose from. It is pricey especially when you add a protein.

Alex I.

Yelp
My wife brought me home a carryout burger after a dinner with her friends, I took one bite and noticed that it was a bit cold, when I opened the burger and took a look I realized it was still raw and frozen. The meal was $20+ and I wish she would've just picked up McDonald's instead....yuck.

Jana P.

Yelp
This place was great! Food was delicious. I had the butternut squash bisque and the brick chicken. Highly recommend both!

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Loved this place! So cute inside! Great service our server gave great recommendations on drinks I got the Violet and it was perfection. All my friends Drinks were delicious too. My whole table got the skillet and love that you got a paper to customize exactly how you wanted it. It was so good! Highly recommend this place

Yelp
I've been to social many, many times as a single gal, but my friend and I brought our kids today and I've never felt more welcome in a restaurant before. Our waitress, Sadie, was such a sweetheart and didn't bat an eyelash with the kids and stroller all over the place. Susan (I think a manager or hostess) was super helpful and extremely accommodating in adjusting our seating (car seat sling?! Who knew this existed) to make sure we were comfortable and out of the way of other patrons. The heated patio was the perfect place for us, and I didn't feel that we were disturbing anyone else out there. I hope other people felt the same. the food was amazing as always. I had the salted pecan banana waffle, my friend had the açaí bowl, we split a side of the garlic truffle fries, and our toddler guest had the donuts. We had a wonderful visit and I hope we wouldn't be a nuisance if we decided to dine there again with the kids.

Yelp
Indulging in the culinary experience of roasted beets, creamy burrata, and delicate madeleines was truly a delight for the senses. The roasted beets offered a tender yet robust flavor, perfectly complemented by the creamy texture of the burrata. The addition of madeleines brought a delightful sweetness to the plate, balancing the savory notes of the dish. Each element harmonized effortlessly, creating a symphony of flavors that left me craving more. A truly memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a unique and delicious culinary adventure.

Yelp
My sisters and I recently had some drinks and snacks here one evening and it was a great experience! We sat at the bar and I have to say- the bartenders were seriously killing it all night! Awesome cocktail menu! The Truffle Fries are a MUST, and the Spinach & Artichoke Dip was a classic solid choice. I'd love to come back for a date night and try some of their salads and dinner selections. When we stopped in, it was busy for a weekday, but I wouldn't expect anything less for downtown Birmingham in the Summer. The cool and unique atmosphere makes you feel like you're hanging out at a hip Chicago hotel lounge! I would be all smiles if someone were to invite me out to this joint again! :D

Monali D.

Yelp
Loved the food and the vibe here! Good service and delicious food. So many options to choose from. We were here for brunch and loved almost all the items we tried- salted pecan waffle, Mac-n-cheese (so so good!), truffle fries (were to die for!). I simply loved the idea of build-your-own-skillet, so easy, organized and delicious (depends on what you choose ;)). A nice place for brunch! Definitely recommend!

Danielle J.

Yelp
If you're looking for a new brunch spot to try with good food and drinks i recommend social. We wanted to sit on the patio but it was really chilly so I'll definitely be back to check out the patio. We had reservations but we still had to wait about 10 minutes. Also parking is around the corner which is only $2. Our service was subpar but the quality of drinks and food made up for it. I recommend getting a build your own skillet and a ghostbuster to drink ! I'll definitely be back to check out their lunch and dinner options

Ambre A.

Yelp
bartender was amazing at explaining the mixolohy they do; hostess and staff very accommodating to my difficult party members. Was excellent service.

Danielle P.

Yelp
Social is a homerun.. The ambience is cozy, yet lively and the staff is fun. The bartenders know how to make a drink. I defy anyone to beat the espresso Martini. The burgers and truffle parm fries are awesome as well as the avo toast. So just go..

Maren B.

Yelp
We went out for my friends birthday. The table next to us sat well after us and ordered, got their food, ate, and left well before us. We asked for fries and they said they were out only for moments later we saw numerous plates of fries come out of the kitchen being served to many people. We were sat at 6:50 and left at 8:10 for no reason at all other than the fact that we were not being served. As far as the food goes, it was fine I got the avocado toast and I could tell it was sitting out for a while as it was cold/room temperature and the toast was as hard as a crouton. We got the vibe that our server was not taking us seriously due to the fact that we were a younger group of kids but that's no reason to make us feel unwelcome and barely served us. We left a good cash tip but it was undeserved of our server. The restaurant itself was nice but overall would not recommend.

Angela D.

Yelp
We absolutely love coming to Social in the summer to sit on the rooftop! The music, sunshine/heat, drinks, and staff make for a perfect place to drink and relax! The truffle fries are a must and we usually like to get the cheeseburger or turkey burger to split! Ask them for their build your own salad list and you can make your own salad with whatever you want in it!

Jeff D.

Yelp
Social kitchen is a great spot to meet friends for a chill meal! The service is fantastic, and throughout your visit you'll feel like you're a VIP. I also really appreciate that you can make reservations through OpenTable! That made our experience much simpler and was a nice touch. Lots of indoor seating and there's plenty of different table configurations to accommodate your party. The menu is streamlined and simple, and I don't think it's a bridge too far to say it's almost lacking in options... I'd like to see a few more entrees in the mix, but my experience was colored by the fact that they had a few items pulled off the menu during my visit. The food itself is fantastic, and generally you get a good value for your money! Parking in Downtown Birmingham is a bit of a pain (though no fault of Social Kitchen), so if you're stopping by, make sure to be intentional with your time -- those 1 hour meters can be tight to fit a full meal into! Overall I'd definitely recommend Social Kitchen; if you're looking for a place to grab a bite with friends in Birmingham, you've found it!

Daniel E.

Yelp
Great food, good ambiance. Went on Mother's Day. Their thick bacon is great. "Thanks"!

Nick C.

Yelp
Finally got to try Social with a friend I haven't seen in a while. I really like that they have reservations for brunch so you don't get stuck waiting an hour to get sat. The inside decor is pretty cool with high ceilings and a garden wall. I wish sometimes I could give half stars because they almost deserve 4 but just feel like the food was pretty good but a little expensive for what you get. I did really like the build your own skillet but unfortunately my sunny side up eggs were a little over cooked. The other two with me got the chicken and waffles. They said it was pretty good as well. I did like their bloody mary. I did feel like I was hungry a little while after I left. Wish the potions were a bit bigger.

Amanda L.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times throughout the years and every time I've come here has been a wonderful experience. The staff is always so knowledgeable and friendly, the food is always so good. I love coming here and it is my default go-to whenever my friends and I are meeting up in Birmingham for a hang! Brunch, lunch, or dinner, you can't go wrong! They also have a lovely heated patio area on the first floor, great for all year round, and a rooftop patio as well that is nice on good weather days. Depending on what time you plan to come here, I'd recommend making a reservation beforehand as this is definitely a popular spot that gets busy, but they do take walk-ins and you can always sit at the bar as well. Love Social Kitchen & Bar and glad that it has always stayed consistent and wonderful throughout all the changes in downtown Birmingham!

Kayla K.

Yelp
A cute, cheeky, and aesthetically pleasing bar/restaurant located in Downtown Birmingham. My "go to" orders are the dry rub wings (paired nicely with their truffle fries), or their recently removed sausage pasta. While their in-dining experience is often a close one, with several people sitting closely to one another, their staffing is often accommodating. On the contrary, when ordering take-out the portions differ and any food substitutions or requests aren't granted. Parking is only available on the street or the local parking garage.

Rob R.

Yelp
This place isn't bad it's just not my type of place or scene. It's what my kids call a hipster restaurant. Mostly overpriced gastro pub type of food. I had a build your own salad for $$ and my friend had a burger that was overpriced and did not come with fries. Those are extra. Not bad, not good just oh hum. Would I go back, probably not. To many other options around with a broader menu selection. You chose though, it was just our opinion.

Monica W.

Yelp
Food and drink were good. I sat on the rooftop deck and had excellent service. I will return if I travel to Birmingham again.

Grace K.

Yelp
I've been going to Social for years and this unfortunately was the last try. Not sure what's happened over the past year or so but the portions with the protein on the salads shrunk drastically. For example the make your own salad is amazing but $12 in addition for a piece of salmon the size of my fork? The protein is nearly the price of the salad for two bites...

Alex G.

Yelp
First, the cheeseburger (yes a cheeseburger) might be the best cheeseburger of my life. It was amazing. Second, while there were some hiccups in our service last night, the servers did their best to catch up, and Daniel the manager (wicked cool tats btw) was super nice about it and did his best to make up for it as well. It's not a super big place, but the vibe is nice, and the staff keeps the vibe where it needs to be. I would definitely return.

Kaela K.

Yelp
Brought a friend from out of town here! I usually come for an after work drink with some local friends, but this time we tried out the rooftop for lunch. We both got a Violet Beauregard, which is the perfect mix of blueberry and mint! Every time I come here I get a round (or three) of the violet and it never fails. The food was as good as always. We split the truffle fries and both enjoyed our entrées. Social is easily a go to restaurant for good food, a chic aesthetic and amazing drinks when in the Birmingham area.

Taryn B.

Yelp
Social is my go to spot for happy hour, quick dinner or brunch - the vibe is casual, sometimes energetic. They have a solid happy hour. Some of my favorites on the menu: the burger, wings and kale salad. The bar staff are always helpful and make good drinks. I just made my way to the rooftop on my last visit and it's super cute, low-key. The kind of place you can go solo or meet with friends. A favorite!

Nick D.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! This place was wonderful. The setting is modern, business casual/ contemporary style! A well balanced food and beverage menu. Cocktail menu is very Sophisticated and smart. Will definitely be back!

Katerina L.

Yelp
In the past I have gone here for dinner and this place can be hit or miss but today for brunch it was definitely a hit. We were seated on the rooftop & music was playing, sun was shining. We ordered a soft scramble with lox and a build your own skillet. Scramble was delicious - I loved the spices that they added & toast was buttery and well toasted. Manager was making rounds asking patrons if everything was good - it was a nice touch.

Melanie M.

Yelp
2nd time dining here with a large group. The service for this experience was subpar - over estimated the the table availability by 45 minutes - many drink options were unavailable - had to repeat our order to the waitress multiple times (this I did not understand because she was entering it into a handheld device). The place was packed but the food came out fast. Apps - lamb/hummus, Brussel sprouts, spinach artichoke dip. I would only order the lamb/hummus again. For dinner, the brick chicken was amazing - good portion with leftovers (pictured). Others enjoyed the gemelli, kale and caesar salad.

Lindsey D.

Yelp
We loved the ambiance, service, & food here! Would highly recommend. We went for Saturday brunch & dinner. We didn't have to make a reservation. I enjoyed a blueberry martini from their cocktail list & my fiancée had a $2 draft beer for happy hour! The bloody mary bar was very fun at the Saturday brunch. I loved all the food I had except the Açaí bowl. It was very, very frozen and was crunchy. I had the Brussel sprouts, the kale salad, the ceasar salad. My fiancée loved the burger. Would highly recommend!

Matthew L.

Yelp
Turkey burger needs to be on the dinner menu but otherwise very delicious meal would come back again

Chase P.

Yelp
First time here 7/23/24, and I'm blown away by how great the service, food and ATTITUDE is here. The staff has been amazing/kind, the food is packed with flavor along with their drink selection. The ambiance is very relaxing and tranquil especially after a long day at work or during a storm (which we had while here). My lady and I go out pretty frequent and the service, im not kidding, is the best it's been in a long time. Highly recommend coming here.

Ashlee H.

Yelp
Food and drinks were amazing. They don't have a brunch menu but they do have one to make your own breakfast skillet. We ordered the truffle fries and custom skillet and it was more than enough for two. Drinks were good and range from 12-16 bucks. Happy brunching.

Jillian D.

Yelp
Went here with a group of friends and had a wonderful time. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is small but has options for everyone with dietary restrictions. My friend was craving a salad however the waitress informed us that they were all out of salad ingredients. This was a bit bizarre since salads are a core part of their menu and draw for people. I ordered the Turkey burger which was tasty but could have used a bit more flavor or extra sauce. I normally would've ordered a cocktail, but I have to say that their entire cocktail menu was full of really bizarre mixes and did not have something to intrigue me to order. Overall this place was fairly average and I would skip it next time.

Curtis W.

Yelp
In town for work and discovered this cool spot within walking distance of my hotel... great flavors in the hummus wish spiced lamb... the spinach dip was damn near perfect & the walnut old fashioned had the perfect balance of sweetness & that good bourbon flavor.

Beel K.

Yelp
First time here meeting a friend for brunch and it was pretty good! The downfall was sitting at the high top in the window. If you run frigid it might be your bag but if you have blood running through your veins, chances are you'll be squinting and overheating simultaneously. The chicken and waffles were okay, not bad, just not notable. The truffle fries were good and the egg sandwich was very good, minus the burnt-ish toast.

Catherine F.

Yelp
We went for brunch. Was annoyed because we had reservations and there seemed to be a disconnect at the host stand. We were told that we would have the next table and another party was sat before us. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle was cold in spots and syrup soaked in others. The parts that were actually warm were good. The chicken was dry as lacked in seasoning My husband is difficult and ended up getting the burger. It was fine, but not exciting. I don't know that we will be back. At least, not for brunch.

Danielle T.

Yelp
We came in on a Sunday and they had a build your own skillet with so many options I was amazed! From picking your own base, to cheeses I've never heard of, to so many eggs styles and endless veggie and flavor option! I will be back from this killer deal! Service was amazing and the environment was so relaxing!

Nidia V.

Yelp
Best place/service I've ever been. Let's start there!! my bff is in town and we were looking for a nice/cute place for brunch, we came to Social Kitchen and put our name under the waiting list (ETA was 45min) and we got our table in les than 15min!!! That was amazing, coffee was regular I'm not going to lie a bit cold at the beginning but then I was hot, on point to drink it without burning your mouth. The sandwich, OMG!! We ordered the "Egg sandwich" the taste, presentation and flavors no way I can describe it, simply loved it. Definitely recommend this place, you going to love it!! Thank you Social Kitchen Bar staff, you did an amazing job. Our waiter was super friendly and simply the best service.

Bailey M.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! We waited 90 minutes and did not get one thing. NOTHING we ordered ever came!!! Not the appetizer or the salad or the meal... and with no explanation from our server! It was so weird because there were some empty tables and a lot of staff standing around. This was on a weekday at 7pm- not a weekend. Maybe they were short a chef? Which would've been fine if they just let us know at any point!!! We could not find our server to ask what the heck was going on. It seemed like they knew our food wasn't coming any time soon and avoided us. Had they apologized or offered a round of drinks we would've happily stayed. But after 90 minutes and only water, we walked out! Needless to say our night was soured. There are so many great places in Birmingham don't waste your time here.

Richie S.

Yelp
Amazing food, great space, interesting interior design, rooftop brunch was awesome, The waiter was fantastic and friendly, kept on his toes picking up the pace, The place was clean The restrooms is clean
