The Best Katsu Sandwiches in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Family Cafe is a sweet and exceedingly small family-owned establishment, serving coffee, tea, katsu, and curry. The chicken katsu sandwich comes with housemade sauce, and they also have quite possibly the most beautiful vegan sandwich in San Francisco. Would you look at those vegetable batons?" - Becky Duffett

The Best Comfort Food Restaurants in San Francisco That Are Open for Takeout and Delivery | Eater SF

"This tiny Japanese cafe in North Beach always had a streamlined menu, and that hasn’t changed now that it’s adapted to a takeout-only model. The main attraction here is the Japanese curry — available in vegan and non-vegan versions, with or without panko-fried chicken thigh. In addition, there’s a highly popular katsu sandwich, cold udon, coffee drinks, and bulk pantry items available for purchase. Order online for pickup Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m." - Luke Tsai

I’m from Miami and this is, hands down, the best Cuban sandwich I’ve ever had! The ham croqueta and cortadito were also absolutely incredible—so delicious! Everything was very fresh, and everyone was very friendly! Definitely highly recommend and will be coming back soon!

Google
Cuban food is very hard to come by in the Bay Area, and if you’re wondering why this place has a 5.0 rating stop by and see for yourself! The Cuban sandwich here genuinely was better than the ones I’ve had in Miami. The pork is much more flavorful, and the bread is house made and super fresh. I am shocked I didn’t know we had a Cuban bakery in the heart of SF, but you gotta stop by and see for yourself! They also have a lot more love put into the products than Porto’s in LA. Thats the key for what truly adds to the experience, because that the owners are all extremely passionate, and put a lot of care into the product. They’re here themselves in the bakery / kitchen, quality checking everything. On top of that, all the items are fairly priced, made in house and super fresh. I spoke to some other people from the east coast who also agreed this spot is legit. I’ll hundred percent be back here to try the guava and cheese pastry and other items. The cafecito tasted exactly like the corner shops in Miami too. What a gift to have this lovely Cuban bakery in SF. It was the only thing that was missing in the city, and we are lucky that we got a good one!

Google
Fantastic spot! The food is delicious, and the service is quick and genuinely friendly—even when you’re in a rush. Dog-friendly, too: the staff adore Nina, and she’s always excited to visit.

Google
TLDR: very fair prices for good food! I came in and ordered two pastries that were a little on the smaller side but they were only $4.50 for both!! I got the meat pastry and the flavor was good, though a teeny bit dry. The guava and cheese sweet pastry was awesome and I loved it! The prices are super fair for being in San Francisco, great choice especially if you’re here for jury duty at 850 Bryant

Google
Delicious pastelitos and Cuban coffee! Great prices and great service too! Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories of Miami for me! I was only in town for a wedding, but discovered this cafe on Google. I believe I talked to the owner when I was there. So nice and friendly! It was fun to briefly share stories. I never really drink coffee, but enjoyed my cortadito. My husband and I shared the Cuban sandwich which brought back so many memories. The guava y queso is my favorite! The mango was so good too! I also ordered the OG meat pastry for my husband to try as well, and I was given a complimentary croqueta to try along with my order (thank you again)! Soooo goood! Sadly, I only have two photos lol it was too delicious 😉 The only tricky part was parking. My husband dropped me off and did a few loops lol but that's the city I guess. Honestly, these were better quality pastelitos and croquetas than the ones I had most recently in Miami! Maybe because I went to calle ocho. But I even tried another place, and no bueno. Social Cafe is the real deal! If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely visiting again 😊 Dale!

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The best Cuban café in the Bay Area! Finally—San Francisco has a place that captures the authentic taste of Cuban food. The Cuban sandwich is perfect: pressed flat with crispy bread (not burned!), and every bite has meat—exactly the way it should be. The picadillo pastry is spot-on, and the croquetas are perfect. For years, Paladar was my go-to Cuban restaurant, and I still miss the chefs Rita and Vicki. But now, thanks to Terry and Ruben, I feel like my Cuban roots have a home again. I’ve met them both, and every time I stop by and speak in my Cuban language, I feel transported—like I’m back with friends and family. San Francisco finally has Cuban food done right. Thank you, Social Cafe—you’ve brought back something we’ve all been missing. Come eat here—you won’t be disappointed! —Eduardo

Google
I live about 2 blocks away from here and it's quick, high quality, and affordable. Terry's always super nice and the croquettes are a must. (Just wish there was more seats) If there's local food I'd feel homesick about, it'd be from here.

Luis

Google
The Cuban mind has a difficult time paying $2.50 for a croqueta, BUT, they're worth the price.

Yelp
The last place I expected to find delicious Cuban food was in the Bay Area -- but SF never fails to surprise me. Tucked in the urban jungle of SOMA, Social Cafe serves the lunch crowd (#1) with a simple array of Cuban specialty pastries and sandwiches. Owners Ruben and Terry, both Miami natives with Cuban roots, have created something special here. Social Cafe has quickly made a name for itself as a quality spot for a tasty meal. Their lineup of classic pastelitos are excellent. Whether it's a guava, guava with cheese, or mango with cheese, traditional carne or even the spinach and feta, one cannot go wrong. Their chicken and meat pikas are also standouts -- savory, fresh, and wrapped in a beautifully light and flaky dough. Add a drizzle (#2) of their signature pika sauce and it becomes a next-level snack. The sandwich game here is strong. Favorites include a nod to their hometown, the Miami sandwich, an extremely underrated chicken salad sandwich, and even a croqueta sandwich. I'd be remiss not to highlight their authentic Cubano sandwich, made with a house-baked Cuban bread that brings everything together. Pair it with a tasty croqueta or their uber popular cortadito / cafe con leche, and that's a proper lunch. Customer service has always been friendly and welcoming, with staff often bilingual in Spanish and English. Prices are reasonable at around $12 a sandwich and $2.50 a pastelito. Mornings and early afternoons are the best time to avoid the rush or risk favorites being sold out. Social Cafe is a fantastic option for solo lunching and for those looking to feed the masses, their catering is top-tier. Pro tip: Call ahead to beat the lines. __________ (#1) i.e. Closes at 4pm. (#2) Or drown it in the sauce. It's that good.

Fantastic spot! The food is delicious, and the service is quick and genuinely friendly, feels like a warm hug--even when you're in a rush. Dog-friendly, too: the staff adore Nina, and she's always excited to visit. Will return

Yelp
Dog Friendly. Kind. Fast. I visit weekly. You can tell how much pride is taken in running the cafe. Welcome my dog. My favorite espresso spot in SF!

Yelp
I was first introduced to this Cuban bakery at a Yelp event. Since I was in the area, I decided to get a Mango and Cheese Pastry ($2.50 + tax) as a snack. +Warm, flaky puff pastry +Good amount of mango jam -Wished there was a bit more cream cheese to balance the mango jam Side notes: 1.) Limited outdoor seating 2.) Walking distance from Hall of Justice *Verdict: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars d/t service. One of the owners' daughters was the cashier and she provided quick & friendly service with a smile.
google avatar

Bianca C.

Yelp
I was first introduced to Social Cafe through a Yelp event, but since then I have returned fairly regularly as it's the only Cuban bakery nearby that I know of. I especially find Social Cafe to be a good stop to make before a road trip to load up on handheld, easy-to-eat snacks or meals. The family/owners and staff who work there are always so friendly and are able to offer suggestions if you get overwhelmed by all the yummy items they offer. And everything is so affordable, so I often find myself buying extra things to bring home to share, or just doing the Bake At Home option. If you have a busy day, they have online ordering for easy pickup and they even do delivery. My go-to items are the guava pastry and the cubano, though other items have never disappointed. I highly recommend Social Cafe and I'm excited to go back soon.

Yelp
Best Cuban sandwiches from the only Cuban bakery in the Bay Area. When I have the craving, I typically just pop in on a whim. Counter service ordering that is quick and efficient. In addition to Cuban sandwiches, they also serve Cuban coffee, Cuban pastries, and weekly specials. While I don't always get pastries (they are phenomenal though) I always get a sandwich. Ham and House roasted pork is densely packed in on authentic Cuban bread with pickles that perfectly add acidity. Sandwiches are cut in half and each half is easily a meal but a full sandwich will definitely have you feeling very full. Staff are some of the friendliest in the bay.

Yelp
Read the reviews and wanted to give this place a try. Ordered the chicken salad which comes with croquettes ($12), an iced cortadito ($3.50 + .50 for ice), and a guava cheese pastry ($2). Food arrived pretty quickly. Downside - there's only a couple of tables outdoors that were taken during my visit, and no seating available inside to enjoy my lunch. The chicken salad was flavorful. It was served with chilled green lettuce, which was a good complement. The croquettes were still warm and also tasty. The guava and cheese pastry was flaky and tasted fresh - not too sweet and a nice treat to end my meal.

Yelp
Social café is amazing! I stumbled in while exploring close to work, and I'm so happy I did. The chicken pastelito was delicious, the chicken was well seasoned, and the crust was perfectly flaky and added some sweetness. Between that and a guava pastry, my total with tip only came to $7, making this place super affordable as well. I'm happy to have found it, and plan to come back to try more of the menu, and the coffee as well.

Yelp
Great affordable coffee and pastries! I live across the street and come in as often as I can :) Ask about their specials. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Social Cafe offers sweet and savory pastries at very affordable prices! They're located half a block from from Bryant St courthouse, a convenient location for those reporting for jury duty. I stopped by 30 minutes before closing and got one guava & cheese pastry and one spinach & feta pastry. The guava & cheese was beautifully laminated with buttery airy pockets. The guava was sweet and worked well with creamy cheese. The spinach & feta had a generous amount of filling with some creaminess from the feta. Both pastries were very flakey and delicious. Social Cafe has limited seating, so this place is more of a grab-and-go. The cafe is bright and clean, and they have a windowed kitchen area to see the bakes in action. The owner is such a sweet person and very friendly too!

Yelp
I went to a Yelp event here yesterday and I knew I had to get a dozen of those guava and cream cheese pastries today for the office. They were fresh from the oven, still warm even with the long walk back to my office. The guava jam is fresh and not overly sweet. It went well with the richness of the cream cheese. And the pastry itself was light, flaky, and airy. It's kinda refreshing - many bakeries offer a rich, buttery pastry, which is fine. But to have something light yet satisfying is nice. The bakery is small with just two tables outside. You can order online on Toasttab or DoorDash. This is a family-owned bakery, and the only Cuban bakery in the Bay. Definitely coming back here for more pastries. And don't sleep on the coffee! It's really good.

Yelp
Wow! So good! Highly recommended their pastries are just amazing and they have great service and even better prices. The bakery where they make everything is visible from the purchasing which makes for a nice atmosphere. My friend loves their sandwiches. All and all the perfect bakery.

Yelp
Social Cafe is such a cozy spot with very delicious cubano and a variety of Cuban pastries. It is family owned and everyone seems super down to earth! I loved everything I've tried so far, most notably the cubano. The bread made in house, pork is also roasted in house, and every bite is the perfect amount of juicy pork, ham, mustard, and crispy yet soft bread. The pastries are also super delicious. Absolutely loved the chicken and beef pies which were spiced perfectly and tucked in a flaky puff pastry (that is made in-house!) Highly recommend overall.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp when looking for a good Cuban coffee in the area and so happy we did, we've pretty much been going back every weekend since. The cortadito is absolutely delicious and the perfect pick me up in the morning. We had to also try their pastellitos once we saw all the delicious options from their display case. We've tried the OG and the beef pika so far and we're hooked. I'm from LA so the obvious Cuban bakery we have down there is Porto's and these are way better than any potato ball you could get. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting SF who needs a quick small bite that packs a punch. Additionally, the owners are super kind and really hard working you can see they really run this place and give it that homey vibe. Also there's always street parking right out front. A must-try!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food! So challenging to find tasty Cuban food, so I am happy I found a family restaurant that is in the Bay Area. Service was excellent! It would be great if they also offered a platter with black Cuban beans, rice, and pork. Happy to support a Cuban owned family restaurant!
google avatar

Yelp
A bit of home in SF! YES to their cubanos and more because I felt like I was back in South FL when I had a bite of their food. We had them cater a work event at our office in SF and they really wowed all of us. We had a cafecito break in the middle of one of our conference days and the coffee + pastelitos really brought us all back to life! For the overall spread, we had some of the mango & queso pastries, chicken pika pastries, spinach and feta pastries, and Cuban sandwiches. Of course I had to get the cuban sandwiches because I can never say no and I tried the mango & queso. So gooooood. Will have to visit their actual location next visit to the Bay!

Yelp
Stopped in to grab a box of pastries for a Holiday Party! I called ahead of time to ask what types of pastries they had left for the day--and they said they could make any of them (takes 20 min). I arrived and my fresh-out-the-oven pastries were ready! I got 2 beef, 1 chicken, 3 spinach/cheese, 3 guava/cheese, and 3 mango/cheese for $26 total. My favorites are the meat pika and guava/cheese! Come try this place. It's authentically Cuban and family owned.
google avatar

Abhinav K.

Yelp
Being from Miami, this place is a godsend to get in an authentic Cuban pastry and Cuban coffee fix while in the Bay Area. Ruben and Terry both have always welcomed us with warm smiles and great conversation. This place feels like a slice of home and can't recommend the Social Cafe enough!
google avatar

Tomas R.

Yelp
Had the opportunity to enjoy some of their mango and cheese pastelitos and they had some of the flakiest crusts one would expect in this Cuban treat. You could tell they put a lot of love and patience in their pastry dough because each one looked like a little pillow. I only had the chance to try this one but it was so good that I grabbed a second one. I'm hoping to have the chance to enjoy a guava-based one but that'll have to be the next time I find myself in San Francisco. Their boxes are all labeled and make it easy to do large catering or to-go orders and have everyone self-serve themselves.

Yelp
Good food and great service but limited menu and limited seating. Would recommend take out

Yelp
OK so as a Cuban-American from Miami, my bar for Cuban food is pretty high. I was soooo excited with Dom B suggested we order Social Cafe for our work conference cafecito break - because what goes better with afternoon coffee than pastelitos?! Enter Terry, the owner and Chef, who is a Miami gal through and through. I got to meet her as she delivered dozens of pastelitos to our office and she is such a gem! I learned she grew up in the neighborhood near where I did in Miami and I instantly knew this was going to be the real deal. Alabaooooo (that means a sense of wonder and awe) - these treats were delicious! We tried the mango and queso pastelito, cuban sandwiches, chicken pika and the spinach and cheese. What separates an ok pastelito from a great one - is the flakiness of the dough. These were *chef's kiss* delicioso. I won't lie, It's hard to find good Cuban food outside of home, and Social Cafe has this Miami girl's seal of approval. I read on their website that the owners couldn't find the perfect pastelito on the West coast, so they made their own. You can definitely tell there is love and pride in this food, which is why Latin food is so good, it is always made with amor that shines through the food. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood to be well fed!

Yelp
Cute little shop with helpful and friendly staff. The cafe con leche was very good. I can't wait to come back for the pastries!

Yelp
Hi Yelp, I'm thrilled to say that the basic, homey goodness that Cuban's around the world love and seek out is right here in SF. Social Cafe SF is, by far, the best Cuban sandwich and pastries in my living memory. Now my wife did land an amazing, tear jerking, guava pastelito, and this place had a display case that brought those to mind. I ordered one and a cortadito to test the water. Upon inspecting their menu, which is a catalog of Cuban comfort foods, I asked them where they source their bread. "We make our own bread here", responded the owner, looking me right in the eye, knowing why I asked her. In the Bay Area, every place that claims to have a Cuban sandwich fails because of the bread. There is no substitute for the simple and sublime Cuban loaf. We chatted for 10 minutes, lamenting how Bay Area Cuban food is basically counterfeit comida. In the end, I walked out with a box of sweet and savory pastries to share with my wife, and I ate my sandwich on the walk home, a can of Coke in my back pocket, and grin from ear to ear. I will order from here again, and again, and again. Without fail.

Yelp
Always a nice way to start the day by visiting this local coffee and pastry shop.. Always a friendly greeting from the owner. Their coffee is strong and their freshly made pastries are warm and flaky. I got the guava today and it really hit the spot. Two things up .

Yelp
I don't know how I have lived 56 years and never had chicken pika before, but this has absolutely been the silver lining of Jury Duty. I definitely want to come back.

Yelp
4.5 STARS Wanna be the foodie star at your next office potluck or F&F gathering...without having to touch the stove/oven and without going broque?! Bring Pastelitos, Cuban Puffed Pastries from Social Cafe. Warm. Delicious. Satisfying. And, only $2! That's like one bite of an avocado toast. Done and done. Opening earlier this month is the city's first Cuban Bakery & Cafe next to the Hall of Justice. Takeout and delivery only but there's one table outside for dine-in. M E N U * Pastelitos: Puffed pastries ($2 each) --Savory: chicken, beef, spicy beef, spinach+feta --Sweet: mango+cheese, guava, guava+cheese * Croqueta de Jamón: Ham Croquette ($2 each) * Salad & Cuban Sandwiches ($12 each) * Drinks: Coffee, espresso, and canned drinks ($2-$4.25) I ordered delivery on Toast and long story short, I had to go to Social Cafe to pick up my order myself (no bearing on my rating). This isn't this first time, I've had issues with Toast not relaying the info to DoorDash to dispatch a driver so I recommend picking up your order if you can. F O O D Pastries are kept in a warmer. They were still warm when I got home. * Pika Pastelito de Carne: Spicy Beef Puffed Pastry ($2 x2): https://tinyurl.com/3xaumfuy Fav of the bunch - flaky, shatteringly crispy layers with a savory filling of ground beef, onions, red peppers, olives, and pika sauce (lowkey reminds me of picadillo w/o the potatoes). For those sensitive to spice, "spicy" was mild. And, it's not heavy or greasy. Dangerous...I could easily eat several in one sitting because it's so good! * Pika Pastelito de Pollo: Spicy Chicken Puffed Pastry ($2) Same as above but with small chunks of chicken (white meat?). On the drier side. * Croquetas de Jamón: Ham Croquettes ($2 x3) Least fav; salt bomb with a gooey, paste-y filling. Off batch? * Pastelito de Guayaba: Guava Puffed Pastry ($2) Large puffed pastry square, tons of flaky layers with a thin filling of sweet and sticky guava jam (tastes like a cross between strawberry+pear). * Pastelito de Mango y Queso: Mango & Cheese Puffed Pastry ($2) Didn't try it. S E R V I C E Friendly and upbeat. A M B I A N C E Bright and minimalist with a display case and open kitchen. No indoor seating. P A R K I N G Metered street parking can be a hit or miss. 6th street is your best bet. Overall, Social Cafe is an awesome addition to the city. Def a great spot to hit up for Pastelitos to bring to your next potluck or gathering without breaking the bank! Or, to hoard all for yourself....

Yelp
Finally San Francisco has its own Cuban bakery! All their Cuban pastries is only $2! What a steal, especially in San Francisco! I got to try their meat pies: a beef, spicy beef and spicy chicken, a ham croquette and for dessert, a mango cheese pastry. They're flakey and buttery and it has a good amount of filling in each. The spicy ones are mild. I like that they have a slight sweetness on top of the pastry. There's just 1 outdoor table with 2 chairs to enjoy your pastry and of coarse they also serve coffee. They hope to offer cakes in the future. Can't wait! Currently, if you check in on Yelp you also get 15% off your order! Can't wait to try their Cuban sandwiches next time too!
google avatar

Lynna D.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place since I drove past it last week. I work around the corner and remember when this was a Subway. So much better to have a Cuban cafe instead of a Subway. We ordered the Cuban Sandwich, Croquette Sandwich, guava, mango, and meat pastries. The owner gave us a chicken pastry to try. We also ordered a cortadito. When I got home my wife immediately had a guava pastry. For dinner we had our sandwiches. My wife then had a mango pastry. The owner is Terri and she runs it with her husband. They bake and grow everything! They were both were very friendly and amazing! The cafe is cute and warm and inviting! I know I will definitely be back! Again and again!

Yelp
Cuban coffee place that opened up recently . The owners are super friendly and they were just getting set up I ordered a flat white and it was pretty average , the beans were delicious tasting but the milk foaming was way off The spinach and feta pastry and the guava and cream cheese pastry were amazingly delicious. Totally worth visiting for their pastries.
google avatar

Acarie S.

Yelp
The cubano sándwich and their cup of coffee is high quality. And their sweet pastries. You could never go wrong in this place.

David H.

Yelp
I have to admit it, this is the best Cuban food I have ever had. Point. Blank. Period.
google avatar

Mateo L.

Yelp
This spot is exactly what San Francisco needs more of! The food and coffee here are seriously amazing, and Terry and Ruben give such friendly and genuine service. They treat everyone like regulars (maybe everyone is? I've become one). Finally we have a place in SF for reliably good Cuban snacks and coffee. I'm married to a Cuban who is a great cook and is very (very!) particular; he loves the food from Social Cafe. I bring the pastries to my clients all around the bay, and they rave about them!
google avatar

Meg B.

Yelp
I was so excited to try these after hearing such high praise from my coworkers. They catered an afternoon snack break during a conference and it was SO unlike anything I've had in the midwest. We definitely are lacking some great Cubano options and I though tthe flavors of the pork was outrageously good! The bread wasn't just an after thought, it's a huge part of why these sandwiches are so good. It definitely hit the spot.

Camille R.

Yelp
Take my word as a native Floridian, this place is legit. I wish they delivered to my home in Texas. The pastelitos were delicious. I especially liked the spicy (not hot) chicken one. The service was friendly.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic cuban food. Service was quick and friendly. It is a hidden gem

Yelp
FINALLY A WONDERFUL CUBAN SPOT!!!! the cubano sandwich is perfect as well as the guava and chicken pastries! Great customer service and fair prices. We will become loyal customers.
google avatar

Yelp
The best in the Bay! Having my in-laws from Cuba and having the authentic cooking from my mother-in-law this place brings back memories of her!
google avatar

Inigo M.

Yelp
Great little gem of a place. Drove up from Santa Rosa because there are zero Cuban restaurants in my area. As luck would have it, the owners were present. I was happy to find out they were from the same part of Miami as me. We chatted for a bit, caught up on the state of the 305, and I drove off with a great sandwich and pastries. Definitely worth the trip. Will be back soon!

Yelp
So nice to finally have real pastelitos, croquetas, and Cuban sandwiches in SF. This place is immaculate too and the service was top notch. There can be a wait sometimes, but good things are worth waiting for! All that's missing is some Jupiña and Ironbeer as drink options

N M.

Yelp
First off, this is truly a Mom and Pop cafe, the couple that own and operate the place couldn't be nicer. I'm not gonna lie, I don't know anything about Cuban food. I started working in the area in September. This is where everyone goes for coffee, and it is excellent. I was trying to keep my carbs down, but I happened to try a pastry on a whim several months ago. They're like crack, if you don't want a pastry habit, stay away. I was so impressed with the croissants (a Friday specialty), I drove to work on Thanksgiving to pick up a dozen special-ordered croissants for the Turkey Day dinner to serve to my extended family at my home. I live a half hour away, it was an hour out of my morning while prepping the whole Thanksgiving meal, but that's how good they are. This weekend I brought home a dozen frozen pastries. I don't know how to bake, but the lady gave me easy baking instruction cards and explained how to do it. They came out great. I also have to point out that the Cuban sandwiches make a great lunch treat also. Definitely 5 stars. I would give an extra star if I could for the croissants alone. This place is great.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
This is the spot! it's hard to find places like this that are local and have local prices! Pastries are about two dollar per a pop! Are used to go at Portos to get my Cuban fix~ but this is a definite keeper! I think guava pastry is better than portal. It's very flaky and has layer of nice dough. They use very fresh ingredients and make everything in house. The owners are very nice and sweet. I also like how this place is women's owned and you can see all their workers are family. It is a sweet place to go get a cup of coffee and morning pastry. There is no place to sit, but it is good for you to grab and go for sure. I heard they are catering, and they can order pastries by the dozen .
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
The pastries and coffee here are so good. The pastries are so flakey and tender without being greasy. I liked the chicken pika the best. The cortadito was strong but not too bitter. The shop is pretty small so it's better for take out but there are 2 small tables outside on the sidewalk.
google avatar

Pablo R.

Yelp
Randomly drove by a sign saying "Cuban" and "Cafe", I pulled over out of curiosity. At the risk of blowing this place up, I may have found a "Porto's" in SF. Furthermore, I think the guava cheese pastry is better here than down south! I said it! Better! They warm it up too! I tried the pastry, the Cuban coffee and a Cubano pressed sandwich. The first two were 5 stars, the sandwich needs a bit of tweaking but still good. A small, family run bakery barely a month old. Be understanding Yelpers. Street parking can be hit or miss. Park a block away.
google avatar

Luna c.

Yelp
Hooked on the Cuban coffee here and it packs a serious punch. If I was stuck serving jury duty, I'd be here. It's a charming family-owned business, and they've got a tempting array of Cuban pastriesmy top picks are the sandwich and guava pastry. Deliciously unique!

Yelp
The food is amazing and authentic. I grew up in Florida and really had missed this food. Thank you Social Club for opening in SF.

Yelp
Authentic delicious Cuban pastries made with love within a humble coffee shop right off the highway. I'm a little biased because these folks are my neighbors but my wife turned me on to this place a few months ago and I've been hooked since then. 3 words: Chicken Pika Pastry. I don't think I had ever had anything like this before, but it's a really unique chicken stuffed biscuit type thing that has a sweet/salty seasoning. I could probably eat about a hundred of them daily but I have to control my pika cravings so the world can be safe. Aside from ordering that every time I go, I've had their Ham Croquette, the Mango/Guava pastries, the coffees. Haven't tried the sandwiches because I'm not a huge sandwich guy, but if I get around to it I bet they will take a lot less time to get to me than the Deli Board, which has now reached diva level proportions. They also do catering, which I bet would be a crowd-pleaser for any work/business lunch events. In short, if you looking for a quick bite, a cortado, and a friendly smile come check out one of the better spots in SOMA, you'll thank me later.

Yelp
Been coming regularly due to jury duty. Really enjoyed the cappuccino, great style of bean preparation they report. Pika pies tasted really authentic. Great staff too

Yelp
The food - phenomenal. The service - mom & pop style. The ambiance - location, location, location! What a great hole in the wall with food fresh from the heart. Down to the bread everything is made in house. From portion size to value this place hits the spot. P.s. your Cubano sandwhiches are made by a real Cubano! Enjoy

Yelp
I have come here several times and tried most things on the menu. I would highly recommend anything but especially the chicken pika, og meat, the guava and the ham and cheese sandwich (pictured) or cubano. This is a family run business and has an amazingly welcoming atmosphere with great service and awesome food 5 stars
