The food was a very pleasant surprise! Never expected the fantastic food like ahi tuna and banana cream pie. Service was incredibly friendly and it was a fun environment though a little bar like.

My husband and I stopped in today. It was 3ish in the afternoon. They were not very busy. They only had three beers on tap and none were very popular brands. I ordered a glass of wine and it was served in a short, water glass. The waitress said it was because the wine glasses are chipped. I ordered the nachos and they were not very warm and not that great. The waitress did not bring plates, napkins, or silverware. We had to ask for that and she didn’t bring sour cream until I asked. We usually enjoy coming in but today felt like they are slipping with good service and they were not busy at all. My suggestion is order some wine glasses. Have more than three beer selections on Tap. Make sure the food is very warm when it’s served and waitresses should always bring plates, silverware, and napkins when you are ordering food

I ordered the soup of the week "chicken and rice". It was filled with diced mushrooms, carrots, onion, and rice. It was also a full bodied thick soup. I also ordered two "brisket burnt end tacos". The tacos had brisket, pickled red onions, slaw, peach relish and BBQ sauce". The food was very good and filling and I paid about $20 for my meal B4 taxes and a tip.

Stopped in recently on a trip through town. First time dining there and Samantha made my experience so incredibly special. She went through the menu with me and explained everything. I ended up ordering the smash burger - don’t miss it. The food was great - hot and served correctly- but the best part of my experience was absolutely Samantha’s amazing personality. You can tell she is made for this industry. Thank you!

So the inside isn't much different from when it was Joe's place originally. I went here with 2 other people. The service wasn't bad in the beginning, they have alot of kinks to still work out. Like the wait staff knowing how to use the system. The food my friends liked they really did. One got the Mac & cheese and pulled pork. The other got pulled pork. I got the pulled pork as well. I wasn't huge on it, took the left others home and had my father try them. The smoke flavor is over welming the pork itself. Might be liquid smoker. The fries were my all time favorite this on the menu. The place itself is just like before but looks a bit bigger on the inside. It's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit. But now it does have me curious to try ita grand rapids location.

Affordable meal: a “burnt ends” taco came with a side of good tortilla chips and salsa for $6. But this particular taco had sugary mangos in it and I didn’t like the sweetness. The burnt ends were well prepared. We also got a generous portion of cole slaw that tasted faintly fishy ($4) and a really tasty burger. The waitress was genuinely friendly and hard working.

This was my first time here and, unfortunately, I had high expectations which went unmet. First I had the ($8 on special) cheeseburger soup. It was... Interesting. It was extremely thick. Like, almost the consistency of mashed potatoes. It was only okay. It didn't thrill me, but there was a good portion. I definitely did not need to order anything to go with it; it could've been a complete meal. Next I got a pollo asada taco ($4). The tortilla had been dipped in fryer oil. Not cooked, just dipped. Don't ask me why, but it was greasy and floppy and disgusting. Eventually I dumped out the contents and ate it with the chips which made it passable. I was unable to find a menu anywhere online ahead of time, which would have been nice. The website doesn't work for the Saranac location, and I believe the menu changes fairly often. They tried to freshen up an old bar but fell short; it needs more freshening. It's definitely better than it was, but it's still quite dated. The live music was good but WAY too loud. We couldn't hear each other at our own table toward the front of the restaurant. We eventually left and went across the street for awhile so we could hold a conversation. Overall, I'll probably go back, but I won't order those items again and I won't go for live music.

We decided to dine in at Joe's Place on Friday night based on a recommendation of a coworker. And I read the reviews, the bad ones and the good ones, before we drove here. It took us almost an hour to get here from our home, but the long drive was worth it 👌🏻😁. Joe's Place is a small town restaurant located in Saranac, MI. And it is true when we opened the door and walked inside, all eyes (diners and servers) were on us 🤣, just for a moment. It felt like we were in the old country restaurant setting with country songs played. Susan, our server, greeted us and offered to sit down anywhere we wanted. She's very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations of menu items. We ordered all-you-can-eat pollock fish dinner (comes with fries and coleslaw/cottage cheese) for the three of us, onion rings, cheese curds (this one Susan's recommendation since we love spicy food), and fried gizzards. We didn't wait too long when appetizers came first, then our dinner. OMG 😳!!! We love ❤️ all the food we ordered!!! We all got second basket came in for all-you-can-eat fish, then the cheese curds are fantastic, love the homemade spicy sauce. The gizzards are tasty too. The fish was not fishy at all 👍🏻. A small town restaurant with great food and service. And Susan even bagged our leftovers, which we didn't expect. Thank you so much 🙏🏻!!! We will definitely come back in the future to try other menu items 🤗😊👋🏻

Yelp
We stopped after learning that our first choice stop in Lowell was going out of business. We arrived early for dinner, and the place had only a handful of guests. Our server, Chris was a delight; she was loads of fun and the best thing about our visit. The food was average. Sally had a beef dip sandwich, and I had a special, which was deep-fried chicken in a cream sauce. The place itself was a standard small-town bar.

Yelp
The food is wonderful! We love the downtown GR location, but this one is much closer to our house. The outdoor deck/patio is a great new addition, too!

Yelp
The owner and staff operate a drug den. If you come in after 9 PM, its likely that there will be at least one patron on the verge on a drunken blackout and you WILL NOT be served if the bartenders are busy. I sat there for over 30 mins without being so much as being greeted. When I asked for service, they got an attitude and said since it was now 30 mins before close, they didn't have to serve me anyways. Now the drugs, there are three known coke dealers that frequent the restaurant. One is there any given night of the week. This wouldn't be such an issue if it wasn't painfully obvious that half the bar is on coke, but there also was a brawl that enveloped the entire bar on Thanksgiving 2024. Numerous innocent women and bystanders were hurt. I also left a negative review on Google in March of this year. My house was then broken into 4 times in the following month. My house was also stalked all times of the night following my writing of the review. I am not worried for my own safety, as I have security cameras and abide the 2nd Amendment. For others, I recommend abstaining from this cesspool. DO NOT give this place your business.

Yelp
Our most recent visit was for takeout...great food and on time. We usually eat inside, because I do like the atmosphere and the people who work there. Never had a problem with food or service, during any of our many visits.

Yelp
My wife and I finally were able to check out Social House in Saranac. We've been to the downtown location a few times and had great experiences. I love the updates that have been made and are a great addition to Saranac. We had great, friendly service. Our food and drinks came out very quickly. The goat cheese fritters were delicious! I also really enjoyed the Power Bowl, and the mac and cheese was also good. Great service, good food, and cheap drinks. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
So I really wanted to love this place as it's the only restaurant in Saranac. First off, they have a really nice deck out back and that's where we sat. Our server was really good, drinks and food came out in a timely manner and she was really friendly. For food we ordered the chicken taco, Al pastor taco and chicken wings. Food was fine, nothing spectacular. Our gripe was that they only had Michelob Ultra on tap, no bottles. Ok not a big deal we got draft. Then we got the bill, $5 for each pint of Michelob Ultra. Yikes! We'll probably come back at some point since it's so close but it won't be our regular spot.

Yelp
Well, I tried it again based on the online reviews. Again, the service was bad, and the food was worse. I think the only reason people come here is that it's the only restaurant to get an alcoholic drink. A friend and I went on a Wednesday and they had a good deal on wings so I got the wings and fries. Wings were like frozen wings you get at the grocery store with cheap sauce. The fries were cold. I got a soda, and that was okay, My friend got a margarita and she said it was terrible and she told the waitress when she finally came back and the waitress just said, "Sorry." Only two small drinks were taken; she should have gotten some kind of refund. So, sorry we only gave a 10% tip, and I really think that was too much. Go to Ionia or Lowell if you don't feel like driving to Grand Rapids for a good meal. Also I would recommend bringing children, there were too many drunks.

Yelp
We have gotten take out twice, and both times it has been extremely good. The burger is the reason I'm writing this. It was amazing!! You can really tell that they know what they are doing here. Can't wait for more!!

Yelp
Don't trust the GF designations. I called to make sure before going that there would be options I could safely eat. The Power Bowl is designated as Gluten Free, yet the dressing that goes on the salad has wheat. Every dressing that they have has either Gluten or Corn in it, Even their Balsamic has corn malt...Why? The server seemed to become annoyed when I asked about this. She left us sitting for far too long. Very inattentive. I at one point had to go find her. Poor service indeed. The thing I can say was good was that she checked the ingredients before serving. The manager finally had to get involved and found a workaround that allowed me to have my meal. All things being considered, I would never return to this establishment. When you can't trust what is printed on the menu, it's not a safe option for those who have food allergies.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, fresh food, amazing service! I wish their menu had more variety but overall good and I enjoyed our meal. Recommended

Yelp
Party of 11, server was awesome, food was awesome, price is not outrageous. Nothing but good things to say

Steven K.

Yelp
The service was horrible on Friday only 4 customers and we had to wait ten minutes for service. Then the drinks took forever as the c waitress stated the bar tender was busy. There was 4 other customers besides the other person I was with and myself. The menu is awful for the small town of Saranac. I will not go back.

Yelp
Im sure I'm not the only one who thinks this, so I will keep it short and simple....That manager, Melany, is EVERYTHING that's wrong with Social House Saranac.. Ive never seen someone so unqualified for a position in my life. She is an awful leader to her "team", treats her "team" like absolute trash, always condescending ,no matter who she is talking too. She constantly has a nasty look on her face and always looking to put HER own problems on someone else. If it's not clear to the owner and the staff that she needs to go, immediately , you really need to wake the hell up.....she will be the sole reason that business will go into the dump. WAKE UP AND REMOVE HER FROM THAT TOWN!!!! Everyone is already fed up with her and I foresee that business going out within the year... thanks...

Yelp
ADRIANA Did an amazing job as our waitress. She was very attentive and eager to make sure we were taken care of. Loved the food. Highly recommend

Yelp
Excellent small town bar with great food and a cozy atmosphere. Breakfast there is a great choice. The staff is very friendly
