SOCO Gallery

Visiting Charlotte, we decided to visit SOCO Gallery. We stop to get coffee at Not Just Coffee, as I thought they were in the same are but I realized that SOCO Gallery is in the same building space as the coffee shop. The gallery was nice but small. I wished there were more artwork there.

Such a chill place with some great art on display. I didn't get a chance to grab a coffee (came on a Sunday) but the staff were attentive and happy to answer any questions related to the exhibits. The atmosphere is very intimate. They have a great selection of art books for sale as well, so if you're looking for your next coffee table impulse buy, this is your place.

Quite the small gallery showcasing local artists. The building is much smaller than it looks and if you're looking for designer men's clothes, there is a great vendor also located in the building. This is definitely a good place for those interested in learning more about local art in Charlotte.

One of the newest art galleries in Charlotte, SoCo (Southern Comfort) shows emerging and early career contemporary artists who are carefully and thoughtfully selected. This results in art exhibits that are both challenging and aesthetically profound. In addition to the gallery, SoCo offers art books from publishers never seen in Charlotte's bookstores. The gallery is located in a historic building which also contains a coffee bar and an elegant men's clothing store.

Outstanding new gallery in Charlotte which shares its space with a men's store and a coffee bar. It's the only place in Charlotte where one can find Taschen books for sale.

A little confusing... Loved the art exhibit, very inspiring.. but.. Needs to figure out if it's an art gallery, book store , men's clothing store, or a coffee shop.

The art was interesting! I really loved the men's clothing boutique, Tabor, and the little coffee shop!

I have been collecting art for many years now and have never experienced the ineptitude and unprofessionalism that l have had with this so-called gallery full stop! I purchased a very expensive painting from them and l still haven't received it due to their inexperience! Firstly, their very young employee Emma took it upon herself to send the painting via UPS Saturday delivery! She never once asked me if this was okay and the shipping fees were absolutely astronomical! I use a business address for shipping and Saturday delivery isn't even possible! ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE CUSTOMER FIRST BEFORE MAKING SUCH BIG DECISIONS! I requested a refund for the shipping charges, but Emma refused! Young Emma kept promising me that she had followed up with UPS to reschedule delivery, but sadly, l had to keep following up with her as she never followed up with me directly! I kept tracking the package and there were even more hiccups! The package was never placed on the delivery truck for the supposed rescheduled delivery of yesterday. Today l wait and wait, At 4:37 p.m. l tracked the package again only to find that the wrong address is on the shipping label! Where is my painting? I will never know and will file a dispute with my cc company. Just a warning to please avoid SOCO at all costs for anything of value!

We were here this morning to spend time at Not Just Coffee but once the coffee was done, we popped across to the gallery side to check it out. I thought the art was really interesting and some of the pieces I would actually put in my home. Not all of them, but there were some nice ones. It's a lovely space and they have good art. Worth a stop especially if you need a coffee! [Review 12569 overall, 2361 of 2019.]

Though small, the SoCo was a cute quaint gallery with a bookstore & coffee house and a cool men's store. It was really cool. The gallerist was really nice as were the men in the clothing store. Very nice

beautiful. cozy. artistically organized. considerate and friendly Concierge. also, a Coffee shop that's the Glue between it and a Strategically designed retail store. Kuddos 2 them.

I had a fabulous time at Scott Avett's artist talk at SOCO Gallery. Every single person I interacted with there was very friendly and obviously cared a lot about supporting the local art community. The gallery is absolutely beautiful. I love the layout and the modern vibe there. It feels like a contemporary gallery one might encounter in New York but without any ostentatiousness. There is a very welcoming atmosphere and as an added bonus, drinks and baked goods from Not Just Coffee are available there. The "Bungalow Social" event was well-planned and I think everyone in attendance would agree that it was special. The conversation with Scott Avett was intimate and thought-provoking. The moderator was eloquent; she asked excellent questions and shared some lovely anecdotes. Scott and Alela Diane's performance was just wonderful. I thought it was such a fun detail that Haberdish served a signature cocktail. I hope to attend many opening receptions and other events at the gallery in the future.

Nice gallery. Wish they had more art but the pieces they are were nice. They have a nice space
