The Best Restaurants at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022 | Where to Eat | Eater London

"A walk through the Meadows is an Edinburgh essential to get away from the Mile’s din, and Soderberg — which recently opened a cafe in Soho — is worth a stop. Coffee, sandwiches, and salads are all fine, but the must-orders are the buns. The fruit ones are decent, but the kanelbulle and kardemummabulle, cinnamon and cardamom, are the two best. Cardamom is number one." - James Hansen

Ordered the Americano, Flat White, Sweet Scone and Cinnamon Bun. Overall, the taste is OK and the atmosphere is great. It’s a good place if you want to hang out with friends or do some work. Nothing is mind-blowing but a good option to have something to drink

Very tasty! Especially the banana cake! Coffee also very good! A bit pricey, but I guess it’s also the location. Their TooGoodToGo Bag is amazing 🥳

Mixed feelings! They have a beautiful array of food, however I found it wasn’t quite as good as it looked. The iced chai borderline tasted like plain milk, besides the cinnamon on top, so wouldn’t recommend. The Lax sandwich was nice, though the bread was a little tough/stale, and the cinnamon bun was a tad dry (but I still enjoyed it)! Ambience is good and staff are smiley. Total for the three items was about £18

My experience was near perfect, James and Julia looked after me wonderfully. My hot chocolate warmed my soul on a cold scottish evening, and the dash of peppermint is an ingenious touch. Highly recommend.

Found this coffee shop while walking from The Meadows and it was a pleasant surprise! Very nice and big coffee shop, lots of pastry options and delicious as well!

We were left waiting at the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 10mins before we were even acknowledged. It was a busy service but several staff clearly saw us waiting. We ordered coffee and buns. We got the coffee which was lovely but we never got the buns. They did apologise when we mentioned it while paying (we couldn't wait for it any longer after we finished our coffee). They could've been short staffed or just had an off day but it left us feeling disappointed and reluctant to go back again.

Baked goods look amazing, cappuccino is a second rate flat white, why the tiny cup? Beans are too bitter with no balance. The person who served us was sarcastic and rude, when the drinks were made, there was no “2 cappuccinos” announced, just plonked there looking like 2 sad cups, forgotten about. When we asked if we could get the baked goods ourselves or whether they’d grab them, it was a “yeah you get them” dismissively. Disappointed, looked great, lacked everything I’d hoped for.

I came into the cafe around 11am on a Friday. Firstly I have to say the coffee and the food was lovely. The decor/vibe was nice enough too. However, all that was ruined by possibly the rudest server I have ever come across. The young man working the till had a stinking attitude. It felt as if I was personally assaulting him with my custom. Never in my life have I been spoken to like that by someone in the hospitality industry. I noticed it too late as I had already paid- in hindsight I should have asked for an immediate refund. This guy has clearly never been punched in the head and it shows. He also mixed up my order with an other customer and persisted to argue with said customer adamant that he hadn’t gotten anything wrong. I’m wondering at this point if he was just completely out of it- high or something similar.
