Google
Authentic Mexican cuisine, specializing in birria and offering with unique choices such as birria with ramen and pizza. Google Maps links the menu to a website that is on a parked domain, and there is no way to remove it because there is not a replacement address. The Door Dash menu does not match the in-person menu, and the in-person menu is also confusing because it does not mention the birria ramen and quesabirria each come with three barria tacos, so I almost ordered extra tacos. Furthermore, the menu did not mention the extra charges for the cheese on the birria burrito and the asada meat on the tactos. When we came in, the cashier handed us menus, which we took to an open table that we picked ourselves. Then we ordered at the cashier, and five minutes later, a nice lady brought our food. The food temperature was perfectly hot, and we all enjoyed the food. For the quesabirria plate, birria burrito, birria ramen (listed as "Maruchan Con Quesabirrias" on the receipt), and two asada tacos, the subtotal was $49.98 for an average of $17 per person. The POS system suggested tips with large percentages---if I remember correctly, 15% to 30%. The high menu prices, hidden charges, and high tip suggestions are my main complaints. One wall was painted with nice artwork. In the back, the TV played a telenovela, and it was so loud that it was hard to think. There was a single bathroom, and it was clean.

Google
Authentic Mexican food at a great price. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The food was delicious! I ordered shredded chicken tacos. The chicken was perfectly cooked and everything tasted great! We will definitely be back to try their selection of breakfast too.

Google
I was anticipating trying this place for sometime after hearing some good reviews. Well unfortunately it was quite disappointing, there seemed to be no grill behind the counter they serve from. All I saw was an electric griddle where our food was warmed before serving. The birria was my reason for going, needless to say it was far less than expected by the reviews I heard. Nothing should taste canned when you are serving traditional birria, w1ell most everything did! Not much deserves one star so 2 it is.

Google
Amazing food, My partner and I are from Arizona and this is the closest thing to authentic delicious homebound mexican food. The vibes and immaculate service these folks present are incredible and I highly suggest stopping here. We definitely have found our favorite mexican food stop. P.S most of the negative reviews here are from to go orders. Maybe next time try to Savor your food in this beautiful hole in the wall restaurant. These folks are amazing.

Google
I had the birria tacos and they were great! $12.99 for 3 tacos with consummate. I'll definitely be back!

Google
Was running late for an appointment, so I only got a single sopa with shredded chicken, beans, lettuce, tomato, cojita cheese, and avocado slices; a small watermelon aguafresca. Hubby got a breakfast taco with bacon. This was our first time in, and I was immediately struck by how deliciously good it smelled when we walked in. Everything was fantastic! Will definitely be back soon! The staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean and I made it to my appointment with 5 min to spare, so I devoured my sopa from the passenger seat!

Google
Came here for flautas but they were out, so I opted in for some chicken nachos (no pico) and ohmagawddddd they were amazing! I also got Strawberries in crema and it was great! We will be repeat customers for sure. 💓

Google
The birria tacos were great! The waffle sticks were not good. Too soggy. Seemed like they were heated in a microwave.

Yelp
Such a wonderful treat! Authentic Mexican food, fresh ingredients, kind staff, and fun clean setting.

Yelp
We went when they were at their original place on Galley. Didn't feel very welcome when we entered, the girl just stood behind the counter looking at us when we came in and then stood right in front of her across the counter...no hello, acted a little bothered when some of us asked a couple questions about the menu. The blandest birria we have ever had, it is one of our favorite meals and we have eaten it at several places. Was super bummed. Elote was good! Only able to buy bottled water, none given to you. (This isn't important, not trying to be nit picky with anything, but the napkins they offer are so super thin and small you have to use a ton of them because they easily fall apart when you are eating something kind of messy like quesabirria or elote! lol) Expensive just like too many others!

Yelp
Visiting parents in Colorado Springs and was not expecting the food to be so delicious! Presentation was 10/10 taste was 11/10. Workers are really friendly and came fast with the food. I recommend the birria burrito.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful. This location is a lot closer to me luckily so I came by to introduce my coworker to the food. Fantastic and didn't let me down. Definitely coming back and service was very nice. Nice place to come and sit down to enjoy a delicious meal.

Yelp
I tell you what, this place rocks! Every time I drop in, I try to bring someone new so I can let more people experience the deliciousness! The lady that took our order on the last visit was so kind and helpful and explained the menu items for my latest first-timer friend. All the food was delivered quickly and it all was so good! Priced right too! I was there yesterday and I already have plans to come back with my wife and our best friends next weekend!

R K.

Yelp
Food was ok. Chicken was very dry. Cool atmosphere. No sugar free options on drinks except water. Ice cream is ridiculously priced.

Bella B.

Yelp
I ordered a fried Mojarra which is like a Tilapia, but it was bad the taste and smell was horrible, also the Gordita wasn't good at all, my first and last time coming to this place.I wish people ordering these two dishes be really careful so you don't get any food poisoning., The servers were nice though, as well as the ambience.

Yelp
not from Colorado we ended driving here by mistake, we decided to try it out. First thing we noticed, a huge cloud of smoke coming from the kitchen area. Looked around for any ventilation system, there was none. I thought it was kinda weird but whatever. staff was nice, food options sounded good, I ordered tacos and fresh squeezed OJ. My girlfriend ordered ramen birria, after our food was bought to us we noticed a few things. The tacos corn tortillas were cold with no salsa, how dare you give a Mexican guy tacos with no salsa haha, we asked for salsa and got two little cups, not to mention they also forgot my OJ, had to ask for it. Reman birria not the best flavor, and tacos were plain. During the drive to hotel we definitely smelled like grease.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is DELICIOUS, really friendly staff and attentive. They were out of sopes so I had the chicken taquitos, my husband had a torta with birria. Tres leches was also amazing, great prices too. Will definitely be going back !
google avatar

Bailey L.

Yelp
Second time coming here. Hubs said the tripe taco wasn't as good as last time but the Lengua were just as delicious. I tried the burrito with asada and it was really tasty. I love that the burrito comes with everything inside. The Paloma was much smaller this time and did taste different, but was still good.

Yelp
This review is for their Tutt location I recently tried Sofia Antojitos, and it's safe to say I'll be a regular. The Birria burrito was a flavor explosion - absolutely delicious! The esquites, a cup of elote goodness, were a perfect side. The tortas are massive, filled generously with mouthwatering meat and trimmings. The variety of fresh blended juices and traditional Mexican beverages complemented the meal perfectly. Don't miss their classic snacks like elote and sopes. And guess what? They have a Birria Pizza! Can't wait to explore more of their menu; highly recommend this spot for authentic and satisfying Mexican cuisine. Five stars!

Kaley J.

Yelp
I have been coming here since they opened. This is the BEST Mexicans food in the springs hands down.!The quesabirria tacos are PHENOMENAL.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Awesome food and service!! The owner and her daughter were amazing and treated us like family. Would definitely go back again!

Karina V.

Yelp
Okay food , not the best but okay. Wish they had better customer service. And it's over priced
google avatar

Yelp
Sofia's is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food here in The Springs. Everything is so fresh and delicious. The staff is very kind even though they're always hustling to prep and cook everything. The birria! Do it! The decor is bright and playful. I can't wait to take my family here. I could gush about Sofia's more but there's no need to. It's awesome!
google avatar

Makenzie S.

Yelp
One word: UNREAL. The food was incredible and the service was top tier. I can't say enough good things about their food - it's well seasoned, their meat is tender, and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Very chilled, laid back vibes. Get the Quesabirria with ramen. Trust me.

Goldy S.

Yelp
I got the elotes and quesabirra tacos and I ate half the corn and 1 taco and about 15 minutes later I was violently throwing up out of my nose and everything I'll never go back again

Yelp
What a nice find! When a friend was in town, my husband and I could not agree on where to take him for dinner to catch up. We finally decided on Sofia's, and I'm glad we did. This little shop is in a strip mall and prides itself on "snacks" (think street-style elote corn), malts/desserts, and gourmet tortas (mexican sandwiches). When you arrive to this shotgun-style spot with an industrial feel, you are greeted with a wall-sized menu (awesome, plus a nice work of art). You also have the option of a laminated menu to browse. Since many of the words were unfamiliar to us, we asked a LOT of questions, but our cashier was oh-so patient and understanding. I ended up ordering the ahogada torta, which comes with beef, beans, a fiery sauce, pickled onion, and avocado; one al pastor (pork + pineapple) taco; and an horchata malt (note: this place doesn't have a liquor license, so you can grab water or soda from the fridge or special-order drinks). Once you've ordered and paid, you have your choice of tables. There are tables for four down the middle next to the long counter where you can watch your food and drinks being prepared, or you have the option of a bench seat table along the colorful wall boasting a beautiful mural. The taco was very good and I had the option of flour or corn tortillas. I went traditional with corn and wasn't disappointed. The pineapple chunks were huge and delicious (those are also optional, but why would you order al pastor without pineapple??!). The malt was the first thing to arrive to our table, and whoa buddy was it a sugar bomb! It was topped with super thick whipped cream and had the slightest hint of horchata along with a beautiful caramel sauce on the sides of the cup, mostly for looks. Last to arrive and totally worth the wait was the torta. Holy cow! This thing came out on a fancy melamine plate smothered in spicy sauce and topped with pickled onion and avocado slices. It was so huge that I took a third of it home and had a delicious, hearty breakfast the next morning! All told, we spent about two hours here gabbing and enjoying yummy, elevated Mexican street food. The staff was super friendly, and we saw about three or four other groups and families come and go, all receiving great service. This very low-key spot is perfect for quick bites but also suitable for those wanting to engage in the beloved Latin pastime of sobremesa (extended chatting around the table after a meal). My only critique is the ubiquitous styrofoam and plastic cutlery, but other than that, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Everything was amazing! Started with Elotes Then my HusBae got the Birria Tacos And I ordered the Torta with chicken instead of pork.. the. We both got fresh juices! Refreshing! And for desert fried plantains with lechera! The service was amazing and very welcoming! Clean established and I loved all what we ordered! Satisfied and full! Definitely will come again!

Yelp
Delicious food, fast and friendly service! We will definitely be making this our new go-to place for Mexican food!

Yelp
Cinco de Mayo??? It wasn't a coincidence that we ended up here. We've been looking for a good taco place after moving here. We haven't found one that really checked off all the boxes... until now. It was pretty busy on a Friday night but it was expected. We had a good amount of time to browse their menu, but we were going based off of pictures we saw through here and what people have been ordering. We ordered the birria tacos, ramen and carne asada tacos. For drinks, we tried the mango agua fresca. I wanted a horchata but found out they didn't have any so that was the only thing missing. Everything was flavorful and fresh. We took it to-go so even after driving 30 minutes, it still tasted as if it was just made. It's a nice place and has lots of seating, so we'll definitely have to be back and try other things on their menu.
google avatar

Randall B.

Yelp
Quality vs price just didn't add up here. The value fell short. We tried tacos which were on the menu as including cheese, tomato etc but they were just tortilla and meat. There was no condiment station that we saw so this was a pretty significant disappointment. The cubana I tried was good but there was quite a lot of fat where there should have been meat and at $14 each this wasn't memorable enough to warrant a return visit. Sadly. Staff was friendly and atmosphere was clean and fresh but even the fruit drink we ordered was so watered down and flavorless. We won't likely be back. Lots and lots of similar cuisine in the area to compete against, and first impressions in this economy gotta be good.
google avatar

Karina C.

Yelp
I would see their pictures on their Facebook page and it always made me hungry lol... My son and I finally stopped by and actually what I wanted was something different lol... but the pictures on their FB didn't put item names so I assumed because it had ramen, it was the one but i was wrong but wrong was actually right! Haha! This odd looking dish was so yummy! Never would I imagine to mix ramen with with nacho cheese, mixed with Doritos! Yum! I will definitely be back and show the picture of what I thought I was getting next time lol... We will be back.

Yelp
Delicious food very fast service and very clean. Decker was very nice stuff was very friendly.

Itzel G.

Yelp
Being from the south this is definitely the best it gets in colorado!! very good and affordable prices. definitely my new spot.
google avatar

Krystal M.

Yelp
Very nice staff, spacious and inviting. Ordered the birria tacos. The birria consommé was savory and seasoned well. The tacos were crispy. Pretty good would like to return and try something else.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
We had to give this place a try after seeing local talk! The decor is colorful and funky. The young man who greeted us was very enthusiastic about the menu! We decided to share a PizzaBirrea and I'll tell you what... we'll do that again! Delicious! The crust was the PERFECT vehicle for that savory consume! You also get a side of salsa. Such a great compliment! Definitely worth the trip!

Jared A.

Yelp
Clean, friendly, and inviting. The real focus is on the food. Every dish I've had has consistently been made with the most apparent love. Keep it up!
google avatar

Jay F.

Yelp
The food here is deliciously fresh! The location and service are very friendly. It has a normal ambiance very quiet, the seating does suck a little bit since it has a long bench on the wall that is higher than the table placed in front of it. This place is a must visit too since they have amazing sweets treats. The only downfall is that you end up smelling like food the whole day since air circulation isn't to well because they cook with out any extractors.
google avatar

Pam A.

Yelp
I am a person who is disillusioned with American Mexican food. It's certainly not as good as what you find in Mexico. So I picked this business because of the yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I had the Quesabirria Plate and it was delicious. My husband had the special - 5 street tacos and he said it was delicious too. I don't think you can go wrong here. I had a churro and the Horchata also and they were excellent as well. Should have taken pics but was too busy eating and forgot.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Service is always friendly and welcoming! Pastor tacos, tostadas, churros, esquite, they all hit the spot! Don't forget to wash it down with the Mexican coke or one of their respados! place is large but at the same it can get pretty full rather quickly!
google avatar

Yelp
This place came highly recommended and now we understand why. The ABSOLUTE BEST Mexican food we have had after living in Colorado Springs for 27 years. We relocated here from San Diego so we know good Mexican food. The prices are PHENOMENAL!! A Pambazo (which was enough to feed four people) can of soda and churro was only TWELVE DOLLARS yes..$12 that is UNHEARD OF!!! The people that own the place are always on premise and they are incredibly kind and accommodating. We split the Sopas ($6) with Carne Asada, split a Pambazo ($9) and split the Birria Tacos ($13) that were so good we forgot to take a picture!! Most flavorful Consume we have had in town!! The Birria Tacos are incredible with perfect amounts of meat and cheese pulls~ The Pambazo was delicious, just wish it had been more traditional, with a heavier chile coating and CRISPIER bun. The SOPAS were good, but had a tough shell that was hard to cut through and chewy and wasnt the traditional soft masa shell we have had before, but the Carne Asada made up for that and was SO FLAVORFUL AND TENDER!! Everything is served with sides of fresh sliced cucumbers, house made salsas that rival any place in town and juicy limes~ So many leftovers too as the portions are huge! Overall, this place is delicious and just what Colorado Springs needed!! Oh and the CREAM CHURROS ARE THE BEST WE HAVE EVER HAD!! SO incredibly fresh amd crispy, with generous fillings and douses of cinnamon sugar!!! Go here. Don't hesitate, you will NOT be disappointed!
google avatar

Silaka C.

Yelp
Ordered for take out, and had a great experience. Got a call immediately that they might not have an item, but we're able to accommodate. Food was ready for pick-up in ten minutes. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very nice and friendly. The food was flavorable, affordable, and filling. Ordered the quessabirria, elote, torta, and cream & caramel churros. We are everything before we could snag a picture! Will definitely be recommending to family and ordering again!
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
Everything was delicious, I HIGHLY recommend any of the birria! The birria burrito was life changing, I can't wait to go back and eat here again. Everyone was really nice and the food was ready fast! I got the pambaso torta and it was really tasty, it needed more of the chorizo/potato filling though for sure :( But I still really liked it!! The Arroz con Leche and Fruta con Crema were pretty tasty too, nice little desserts! They were out of the tres leches today so I am super excited to try it next time :) Very wonderful experience, this place is gonna get a lot of business from me :)

Sylvia A.

Yelp
It's amazing every time I go the food is so so good. I'm never disappointed. I highly recommend this place if you want authentic food.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
FINALLY! Mexican food that is layered with flavor and I mean LAYERED. I am shocked that a place so close to where I live has food this good. Today was my first time and it will not be my last. I watched food come out and it all looked amazing. The service was top notch too.
google avatar

Ashley O.

Yelp
My husband and I both got tortas. There were amazing! And huge! The staff were so nice and the space is super cute!
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
This was our first trip here and we will DEFINITELY return! Wonderful staff, seating area and the food was spectacular. I started eating and then realized I had forgotten to take photos of a few items (it happens). The quesabirria is highly recommended by me! The shells had a hardness to them, which I prefer, because most quesadillas are on the soft side and become soggy after 30 seconds on the plate. The plantano fritos were perfectly fried and paired with the fruit. I didn't try the esquites, but my wife said it's the best she's ever had. We love supporting local businesses and we'll continue supporting them while we're here!
google avatar

Karli G.

Yelp
Holy Frijoles! This place is amazing! The service was top notch, the atmosphere was great but All that is overshadowed by the delicious food! My husband and I ordered the Birria tacos with Birria ramen, a sope, the elote bowl and churros. Every bite of it was phenomenal and packed with flavor. Highly recommend the Birria tacos, the elote bowl and churro. Thank you yelp for a new favorite restaurant. I will be bringing friends here.
google avatar

Jas B.

Yelp
The wannabe blond woman is so rude to customers. There is false advertisement in their pictures and then are so rude when clients aren't satisfied with their order. That woman is so rude. The rest of the staff doesn't know what they are doing either.
google avatar

Joshua S.

Yelp
What can I say other than, "WHOA!" Best Mexican food in Colorado Springs. The quesabirria tacos are a MUST try, the tostada's, esquites, and the tortas are also bright spots! Only thing that could improve it is if they start serving alcohol. An absolute must try, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
wow, wow, wow!!! This place has it all! We were not sure what we were going to find at Academy & Galley, but were feeling adventurous while out running errands on a nasty freezing snowy day.....thought we'd just take a peek, but we're prepared to quickly leave if it didn't feel right. Well, they had us even before we saw the menu - it was warm and inviting with burning fireplace scenes on the three televisions; fun wall murals; and upbeat music that wasn't from the top ten played out list. (I am all about Christmas music, but it was a refreshing break to be submersed in this new vibe for a little bit) We were pleasantly greeted and welcomed in; we ordered at the counter from a menu that had so many tasty and interesting options. Since we could not make up our minds we asked for whatever the most popular item....it was an amazing plate of fried tacos with a bowl of birria ramen! Later I could not find this option on the menu....you'll just have to ask for the favorito delicioso taco & ramen plate! The presentation was muy bonita - on a bright decorative plate, sides of fresh lime, and yummy green salsa....perfecto! Oh! The flavors! The service was outstanding! - you know how everywhere you go now they say while you're paying: "answer some questions" (give us a tip even if you are just driving through....), well, there was some question at the payment, I forget what - but when they were walking us through it, he just skipped over the "question" part....did not pause to ask for a tip. (Later I went to the car to find some cash) Anyway. What a refreshing change! Everything about this place says: we are passionate about food and want our guests to have the very best experience - because we value their business and would love for them to return!

Yelp
10/10 service. Best antojitos spot in Colorado Springs. The vibes in here are immaculate and the prices are great. I brought my friend who's never had a torta before (I made her order an ahogada) and she will never be the same! The food is fresh and full of flavor! I ordered the esquites and quesabirria plate. A must visit in Colorado Springs!!!!

Tony S.

Yelp
Just had lunch here. I had a $ .90 "Inflation Fee" on my bill. This is the last time I will go there. Sad I am, I liked their food and the folks that run the place
google avatar

Rich H.

Yelp
We have tried this place twice, one take out and one dine I'm, flavor for take out was good, but food got over cooked and soggy because of trip. Dine in food was great and fresh hench the three star rating because if it was based off customer service it would be 1 star. They are a bit slow and have no system in lace for service. There was a misunderstanding on what my wife ordered we thought we had more tacos coming and asked about it. Server talked to line, one of the cooks maybe owner came over with the tacos snapped almost yelled at my wife that in the future she needed to say "Ramen with tacos". If you can't handle the stress of business and have to basically yell at your customers maybe you should be in business.

Yelp
Very lovely building and very amazing options for Mexican snacks and good food! I am Mexican family originally from Jalisco, Mexico and this place definitely reminds me from snack shops from Mexico and from where I originally am from which is CALIFORNIA! So this place definitely topped it all off and tasted like home we are a military family stationed at Carson and haven't found a place like this! I had fresh juice "the bomb" Amazing! And the aguas frescas amazing and perfect amount of sweetness! And the torta ahogada was amazing ! Haven't been able to find a place like this in Colorado Springs in the last two years that sells Mexican food/antojitos/cravings! Will be coming back Muchas Gracias Señora Sofia por su negocio!
google avatar

Tony B.

Yelp
Everything here is delicious, when I want tacos or anything else this is my go to!! I highly recommend coming here as the staff are very friendly and the food is 100% very flavorful

Brandice C.

Yelp
I love birria and I love pizza. So when I learned there was a place here that served pizzabirria I had to try it. My my did they not disappoint. They weren't busy when I went at 11:00 today. Mind you it's a Friday. It didn't take long either...maybe 10 minutes upon ordering. Let me tell you this is the best pizza I've had in awhile. There's plenty birria on it, which was initially worry. The dough! That dough is made for pizza. I ate 3 and half slices but could have easily downed the whole pizza if I wasn't full. I would love to try other items on the menu if this pizza was that immaculate.

Luz G.

Yelp
I had had this restaurant on my to visit list, being a Mexican in Colorado Springs, and it DID NOT disappoint. Flavors were amazing, the food and ingredients were fresh, partially the best Mexican food we've had in Colorado so far. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
