Sofitel Barú Cartagena

This hotel is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed. From the property itself to the service and the food, all of it is truly a 5 star experience. I stayed here with my husband celebrating his birthday and the attentiveness and love we received was phenomenal. They celebrated with us every day we were here, it felt like home. I would come back every year to do it all again! And another special thank you to the staff, guest services, the waiters - Jesus, Mariana, Andres, Elizabeth to name a few - all were wonderful.

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Sofitel Baru, our experience was nothing short of magical. We joined a group of 10 dear friends to celebrate a very special 50th birthday and spent two unforgettable nights at this stunning property. Driving up the palm-lined driveway and walking through the breezeway into the open-air lobby set the tone — beauty, elegance, and warm Colombian hospitality.||Every aspect of our stay was exceptional. The staff greeted us with genuine love, joy, and gratitude, and that energy carried through the entire visit. Any special request we had was met with enthusiasm, and the few small issues that arose were resolved immediately and with great care. The service was seamless across the board — from Guido and his incredible front desk and guest services team, to the staff at Restaurant Bahia, to the attentive beach crew, and the thoughtful housekeeping team.||This hotel truly exemplifies five-star hospitality. The property is breathtaking, the food delicious, and the service beyond compare. Sofitel Baru is a place where you feel cared for in every moment, and it was the perfect setting for celebrating such a milestone occasion.||We left with full hearts and lasting memories. I cannot recommend Sofitel Baru highly enough — it is truly one of the finest resort experiences we’ve ever had.

Really beautiful hotel, fabulous service, great restaurants, loved the room. One thing we wanted to share is that we were debating whether to take a car or the boat back to Cartagena. As we had a late flight, it would be easier to take a car but we heard mixed things about how long it would take and the condition of the road. As we were leaving outside of rush hour (6:30 pm) and there hadn’t been rain recently (so the unpaved road was no big deal), it only took 1 hour, 10 mins to get to the airport. We were very happy with the decision to take a car.

Beautiful location with a clean beach, spacious rooms, and mostly very friendly staff. The hotel itself is impressive and well maintained. However, two things were disappointing: An additional 10% service charge is added on top of the already high room rates. All four restaurants require reservations, and the system feels unnecessarily strict – often told “fully booked” while many tables stay empty. Since there are no alternatives nearby, this becomes frustrating. Overall: A very good stay in a stunning setting, but at this price level, the extra charges and rigid restaurant policy should be improved.

The service was amazing, the people that took care of us were all amazing. We came here for our honey moon and had some issues with the air line and had to book an extra night because of the airline mistake. We pleaded with the manager to let us stay in the same room since there were nothing booked for the next day. Instead of been courteous and let us stay in the same room, he decided to charges more for the change in fare. Which he had all the right to do. Horrible feeling to have this happen to us at the end of our honey moon, it left us with a bad experience over all. And is not like they had the room booked. This is how bad management can just ruin an experience that all the hard working staff did for us through the week. Manager didn’t even come out to hear our story. This a French hotel but the croissants were hard as a rock.

I spent three incredible days at Sofitel Calablanca Barú and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for. As an Accor VIP member, I’m used to a high level of service, but here they truly surpassed all expectations. Every little detail was thoughtfully handled, and the kindness and attentiveness of the team made all the difference. The property itself is stunning — beautiful surroundings, peaceful atmosphere, and an exceptional sense of comfort. I felt genuinely looked after the entire stay. Thank you to the entire team for making these three days so special. I can’t wait to come back

Every request we made was accommodated with grace, and any problem was solved immediately and with genuine care. From the guest services team to the staff at Restaurant Bahia, the beach attendants, and housekeeping — every single person went above and beyond to make us feel special. The attention to detail, the kindness, and the professionalism of the staff truly stood out. Sofitel Baru is not just a beautiful resort; it’s a place where service excellence shines. Our group left feeling deeply grateful for the memories we made here. Highly, highly recommend!

Sofitel Baru was unforgettable! Everything is just perfect at this resort. The staff is incredible! Nothing was rushed it was vacation until the end. The staff takes care of everything! The child care is incredible with activities and nanny’s. Marcelis or Manglito helped us at the beach with drinks and food and even in a storm took care of all the guests! We can’t wait to come back- we even tried to stay extra days but they were booked but made us feel extra at home even when we couldn’t stay longer!
