I stayed here while on a recent business trip to Paris. The Hôtel Scribe Paris is a hotel in an old building that has been "Sofitel-ized" - completely renovated and upgraded. This hotel is in the Opera district, so it a few blocks from the Opera house (imagine the coincidence). It is also very close to the Place Vendôme, the Louvre museum, the Tuileries Garden, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the river Seine, etc., as well as lots of shopping. The neighborhood is beautiful, classic Paris and is very safe day or night.
Like most Sofitels (which I would put on par with Intercontinental), the room was well appointed - the decor is classic with a modern / cozy twist. The bed was large and very comfy, and the bathroom was equally large. The rest of the hotel (lobby, restaurant, bar, etc.) were equally as plush - but nothing was over the top stuffy, white glove type nonsense. That said, the service was excellent as well from the front desk, to the concierge to the doorman. I had a thousand questions and all were answered with a smile. The only meal I ate in the hotel was breakfast, and it was absolutely excellent - the pastries, oh man, don't get me started.
I highly recommend this hotel for business or vacation.
