Pros • The room was spacious, and being upgraded to a suite made the stay even more enjoyable. The views were also very nice. • The hotel offers good amenities for ALL card members, which adds value for loyal guests. • The hotel appears to have been recently renovated, and the room design feels fresh, modern, and well done. • The staff in the restaurant were very nice, and breakfast service was impressively speedy despite being à la carte rather than buffet-style. Cons • The card reader in the elevator was not working very well, which was a bit inconvenient. • The location is relatively central, but it is not directly on one of New York’s more prestigious avenues. Overall Sofitel New York is a comfortable and stylish hotel with spacious rooms, attractive recent renovations, and strong service, especially at breakfast. While there were a couple of minor drawbacks, including the elevator card reader and a location that is central but not top-tier, the overall stay was very positive.

From the moment we arrived, every part of our stay was met with over-the-top, exceptional service. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. It felt as if they were not just doing their jobs, but truly caring about our experience. We were in New York visiting colleges with our son, and one team member went so far as to offer his personal number in case our son ever needed guidance navigating the city on his own. As parents, that meant everything to us. It was such a sincere and generous gesture, and one we will never forget. Breakfast each morning was another highlight. Beyond the delicious spread, we were thoughtfully sent on our way with a small care package. Sometimes croissants or fresh fruit for later in the day. Those little details made us feel so taken care of. The hotel itself is stunning, impeccably clean, and perfectly located near everything we needed. We left feeling grateful and confident that we’ve found our new home away from home in New York.

From the moment we pulled up to The Sofitel Hotel, we were treated with genuine warmth and first-class hospitality. The valet staff outside greeted us immediately and set the tone for what would be an exceptional stay. The front desk team was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, truly exceptional in every way. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and offered impressive views of the city. Every detail exuded luxury, from the in-room amenities to the plush robe and five-star touches throughout. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and there was more than enough space for myself, my husband, and our kids to relax and enjoy. The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect, just steps from Fifth Avenue with endless shopping, close to Rockefeller Center, and surrounded by sightseeing opportunities. We were able to walk to so many iconic New York spots, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was another highlight, the food was outstanding. Breakfast in particular was unforgettable, especially the pancakes which were absolutely delicious. Overall, our entire stay felt elegant, comfortable, and genuinely luxurious. It was an absolute delight from start to finish. We will absolutely be returning and highly recommend The Sofitel Hotel to anyone looking for a five-star New York experience.

I am currently staying at Sofitel New York and have reserved four nights in total. During check-in, I experienced a small inconvenience: I was not properly informed about the details of the urban destination fee, the breakfast benefits included in my reservation, nor about the hotel facilities such as the gym. Having this information clearly explained at arrival would have been very helpful.||The urban destination fee provides a US$25 credit per night, which can be used at the hotel bar. Breakfast is included in my rate and allows you to choose one main dish, one hot beverage, and one juice. While it is on the expensive side, it is worth it for the convenience of having breakfast included in the daily rate, especially in a city like New York.||Aside from this initial issue, my stay has been very positive so far. The location is excellent, close to everything and very convenient for getting around the city. The hotel is comfortable, modern, and spacious, and has been fully renovated, which is noticeable throughout the property.||The breakfast bar/restaurant is pleasant, with a nice atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. The room is a good size, well laid out, and includes a bathtub. The room also has good lighting, high-quality bed linens, and a very comfortable bathrobe. The only thing I miss is a coffee machine in the room, which would make the experience even better.||The gym is very good, well-equipped and well-maintained, and definitely a strong point of the hotel.||I would also like to especially highlight the excellent service provided by Bijou Thiam, who has gone above and beyond to ensure I am having an excellent stay

I’m extremely disappointed with my stay. The hotel had no hot water for several hours in the morning, which made it impossible to shower or get ready properly. This is a basic expectation when booking a hotel, and it significantly impacted my experience. There was little to no communication about the issue, and no clear timeline for when it would be resolved. For the price paid, I expected much better maintenance and guest service. When I mentioned some sort of credit being applied, they just shrugged their shoulders…..PATHETIC Until they address these reliability issues, I would not recommend staying here.

The staff, particularly housekeeping, was especially kind and helpful. The hotel itself was lovely, I was disappointed in the lack of amenities provided - no coffee maker in the room was particularly noticeable. I didn't learn of the morning coffee service in a corner of the bar until almost the end of my stay. The on-site staff was unable to help me when I needed to extend my stay, and the main reservation line charged me more for the extension than I would have paid if I had booked an entirely new stay online. For an expensive, high-end hotel, the lack of amenities and poor rebooking service was quite disappointing.

The location is absolutely top-notch, very convenient and close to everything you’d want to access in New York. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive experience ends for me. For a luxury brand like Sofitel and the price we paid, the room was underwhelming. Basic essentials such as the shampoo and body wash bottles were placed on the floor of the shower, which felt cheap and unprofessional for a hotel of this level. There was also no water heater/kettle provided for making tea at night, which is something even mid-range hotels usually offer. What really turned my stay into a frustrating experience was the billing and refund issue. Upon arrival, my friend used her card only because the staff said they needed it to temporarily hold the stay, and that she would not be charged since I would be the one paying at checkout. However, when we left, I paid with my card — and both of our cards were charged. It’s now been over a month, and we are still waiting for the refund. The communication has been extremely poor, slow, and unclear. At this point, the situation feels unacceptable, and honestly, it’s starting to feel like a scam because of how difficult it has been to get proper assistance from the hotel. For a Sofitel property, I expected significantly better service, transparency, and professionalism. Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience… if you want to stay into this hotel .. i suggest to try another well know hotel chain, this branch is just horrible!!!!

All is well that ends well. I booked a superior room at the Sofitel hotel in NYC through Expedia. My husband decided to upgrade it but was unable to do so directly through the hotel, so he called an Expedia agent and upgraded the room from $300 to $700 per night. We expected a really nice, comfortable room for our Thanksgiving stay. What a disappointment… the room lacked basic items, such as a washcloth in the bathroom, and the view was of the rooftops of buildings across the street. The room was located on the 20th floor. Not wanting to stay in that room, I approached the clerk at the reception desk, who called the manager, Yasser Zaid. The manager apologized for the room we had been given and offered a replacement on the same floor with a bit more space. I chose one, and we stayed there for the remainder of our 4-day vacation. The manager explained that the difference between the $300 room and the $700 room was the height of the floor, not the level of luxury—hard to believe. The moral of the story is: do not do business with Expedia, because the hotel staff cannot make changes to accommodate the customer; all modifications must be handled through Expedia. The stay at Sofitel NYC itself was very nice—the breakfast was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Thanks to Yasser Zaid, our vacation was not ruined.

Friendly staff, quick check-in, and an excellent location! Most importantly, the room was very clean! The room was spacious for a hotel in New York Manhattan. It was also quiet, and the resort fee was well worth it. If I visit Manhattan again, there is a very high chance I would rebook this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel earlier this year and had a wonderful stay. The room was beautiful and clean, and it was just close enough to the Theatre District, without all the crowds always passing by. The staff, in particular, was very welcoming. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Things only get worse. This is the TV everyday. You'd think "luxury" would mean working appliances. The holiday Inn has started to look more appealing. I can't wait to check out. I even had to change light bulbs myself because couple went out and I needed light at the desk to get work done. It's just terrible.

I stayed here for my first time in New York. It's right off of time square and a ton of bars and restaurants. As soon as you walk in you can see the lobby is beautiful and the staff is so helpful across their whole team. Every time we needed to talk to the front desk, Mage and Felix were so sweet and made our reservations so easy to check in and out. The doormen Elvis, Ethiel, and Vernon had helpful suggestions whenever we set out for our day. The bartender Lavinot was also very interesting and hung out with us while we waited for our room to be ready. Overall a great trip!

We were able to book a king room for Labor Day weekend for a very reasonable price, and we had a lovely stay. The hotel is conveniently located between Fifth Avenue and Bryant Park. The room was quite large and comfortable for Manhattan hotel rooms. The lobby was beautiful, the facilities were nice, and the service was great. We asked for extra towels, and room service immediately responded.

Terrible service. When I complained the manager hung up on me. It's in a nice location but they treat customers with disdain.

Staff are so super rude, especially the restaurant waiter. Plus the rooms are outdated, the hotel is super dark.

This hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel. I've stayed at Marriott and Hyatt properties cleaner than this. For starters the shower had hair in it, the staff acts as if you're bothering them. I'm sure they aren't up to par with Covid cleaning measures. Then they don't answer the phone, my anxiety was going crazy about the hair in the shower which is so disgusting. This hotel gives the Sofitel brand and incredibly bad name, it pales in comparison to its Beverly Hills property, leaving much to be desired. There is a plethora of hotels to stay at in the city, choose wisely because this outdated poor excuse of a luxury hotel is far from it. To add insult to injury Darren was arrogant and extremely rude he did nothing to assist with the matter and refused to give me the general manager or regional managers information. This entire staff gives the brand a bad look. The also overcharged my card twice this has been a nightmare.

Nice, particularly if you want to be close to Grand Central. Nice block between 5th and 6th. Almost adjacent to the Harvard Club. Small footprint but high (30 stories) means fairly intimate feel in pretty big hotel. Food is limited - dinner stops at 930 and resto is closed for lunch. I frequented the nearby The Red Flame diner for basic bfast and lunch and it was cheap and good enough. High rooms have nice but not amazing views (I was north facing on 26)

When you walk inside the lobby is so pretty and clean, the people working to get your bags, to check you in are so friendly and nice, even the bartender David is awesome ,& very friendly The reason I'm giving 3 star is because the room is very old, carpet is dirty, the put a layer of some soft like duvet on top of the mattress, just so happened that I could see part of the dirty mattress, the filling had a dark spot like there was a water leak or something The towels are very old, some had yellow stains on them we had to ask for new set of towels, good thing I had flushable wet towels cuz the toilet paper is the cheapest you can get, my thing is if you are asking for $300-$400 a night provide that , I don't want to pay $300 a night and feel like I'm staying at a motel and not a hotel. People talk about Sofitel saying omg it's such a nice clean hotel I didn't have that experience and the only reason I gave 3 star is bc of people who work there If it wasn't for them I would give 0 star

I literally have never had better customer service on July 31st. I HAD to write about my experience. The iron in the room stained my white dress so I ran downstairs to see if they had any stain remover. They did not. They offered to send it out for dry cleaning but I needed it at 7AM and literally had nothing else for my meeting in the morning. (Mind you this was at (9:45PM). The manager ran around for 20 minutes looking for clorox pens & wipes & the gentleman at the front desk called around to employees. One of the employees heard what was going on and so they took it to the chef who helped them use vinager and baking soda and the 3 of them got it out. They literally did everything they could to help me. I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of Tania & Bijan. I will never forget their kindness and send everyone I know to this hotel because of it. There are not many people out there who would take the time to help someone especially in a busy busy city.

Giving 2 stars because upon arrival it's a beautiful lobby it smells nice, the team were very welcoming and helpful. Definitely did not expect the room I got, for one it gave motel vibes I slept very uncomfortable it was dirty, outdated and wallpaper was unsticking. The deposit fee for a pet is ridiculous and it should be a one set price not 2, 500 dollars deposit fee on top of 260 deposit room fee is a bit much and I wouldn't have minded if I would have actually liked and enjoyed the room I stayed in. For this I prefer the standard 10 times better where even my dog is welcomed like the princess she is, my dog had a bed and food bowl of her own there and I wasn't even charged a separate pet fee. Waste of 400 dollars never again

Our stay at Sofitel was fantastic. For starters, the service was outstanding; from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by polite staff who were eager to assist us in bringing our bags up to our room. Another employee approached us and looked quite eager to assist us. Furthermore, the environment here is breathtaking. A variety of dining options and shopping were within walking distance. There are other fantastic stores nearby, including a location near to Times Square.

Very nice rooms, incredibly comfortable beds. Even better service. Truly exceptional. Friendly and quick. I will definitely make this my preferred hotel in NYC.

I got this hotel bunched with a flight deal, so I'm paying a decent daily rate, but this hotel is really mediocre. My biggest issues with the room are the bed, where the mattress is practically a "v" shape because the two sides are bending downward, probably from just years and years of wear. It's one of the most uncomfortable beds I can remember in a long time. While I expect rooms in NYC to be small, my room this recent trip was so oddly designed, that no one could sit at the desk and walk by at the same time. Generally, the room is just very beaten up. You can see it in the door jambs, nicks on the furniture, and the peeling paint on the ceiling of the bathroom due to humidity.

I showed up at 9pm and their was a long line. The staff was arguing with their customers. I was surprised at how low class they sounded given the cost we paid for the room. Once it was my turn, I was told that although I had a reservation, their were no rooms available. I have never experienced such a disorganized and rude establishment. I will never stay nor recommend this hotel.

Sofitel New York is definitively French with a light French flair about it along with an interesting deco décor. It is indeed one New York's better hotels. It's one of those that are, of course, pricey, around $400/night range when add all those pesky little things in like taxes, resident fees, destination fees, etc., etc., etc. But if you want to be in a hotel with the best of staff and a super location near Rockefeller Plaza, Times Square and Broadway, this is the place and well worth the premium price. I was in room #1804 and couldn't have asked for anything better. The décor of it had a certain understated elegance and the bathroom was complete with a shower along with a completely separate and individual tub. The hotel has one of the best of concierge services ever along with Gaby, a very good in house restaurant and bar. But I might add that Sofitel is located near some of the best restaurants of New York, which for a foodie Yelper like myself makes everything super special. Besides the high price with all the silly add-ons of destination fees, resident fees, etc. (but this is true of every hotel in New York) the only other minus I found was a totally crappy Wi-Fi system and a computer room of only three computers, one of which never seemed to work, that seemed to have been taken over as a children's playground,

Probably not again. This is the first hotel that I have been to that does not have any ice past 2 pm on a Saturday. No need for the highball glasses in the room. Save your room service some time. Don't bother. Discovered within the first 5 minutes of being here on a 90 degree day. Wonder what is next. Considering canceling future Sofitel reservations I have currently in other cities. Sofitel....SofiNil

This place has gone way down hill. Restaurant closed with no plan to reopen. No bar, no coffee in hotel. They say they will be happy to send a coffee maker to your room. NYC is easy to go out/ get delivery, but hotel restaurants/bars/coffee are a thing. And strange to see more than a two star hotel with no option for coffee or anything inside hotel. Overall looks dated, feels like it will be closed soon.

CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Views are awful, customer service is awful, and checking in was a joke. I requested early check in at booking and also called ahead before I arrived, I needed this in order to prepare for my conference when I arrived. Never happened. I booked 2 nights and paid nearly $900 for a ordinary room which they called "luxury", I booked with my AAA membership which came with a $50 credit for room service, just a note their bars and main restaurants are closed, just another amenity we pay for that was under delivered. I was charged $54.05 for 1 expresso, 1 small glass of pulped orange juice, mini baguette ( I mean MINI) and a small stack of pancakes. I was told by the front desk to just give them my room number and my credit would cover the $50 and I would cover any overage. Now I am home and the FULL charge is on my credit card. I called their accounting office and they said I never had a credit in the first place (this was verified 3 times, at booking, checking and at check out) then said fine ok send us your AAA info and we will consider crediting it back. Here's the frustration, I way over paid, was under the impression this was a luxury hotel with amenities that were not available... and now the one leg up which was a measily $50 credit for food that cost them no more than $6 is now being charged to my card with out my consent. This was not the experience I was expecting nor should in guest in their hotel. Between AAA, Veteran, and a platinum amex holder, I qualified for various discounts "offered" by Sofitel but this hotel clearly doesn't hold true to their commitments or offers

A solid 4.5 star hotel in an excellent location! We enjoyed our four-night stay here for a long weekend birthday trip. Our first room on the 8th floor didn't have much of a view, and we were quickly moved to a higher floor by Nicholson, a very kind and attentive staff member. We headed out for the evening and upon entering our room we were greeted by a pleasant dessert surprise - it's little details like these that make for an enjoyable hotel stay. Our room was on the small side (not surprising for NYC standards), but very clean. The bathroom was generously sized with fresh flowers, large towels, and upscale toiletries. The hotel offers amazing food, but there are plenty of more reasonably priced options in close proximity to Sofitel - juice bars, coffee shops, diners, and more upscale dining. The little pizza place across the street was pretty good - truly authentic NY pizza. I would happily stay here again - and hope to in the near future!

Had a bit of an issue with my reservation prior to arrival. When the "error" was found and corrected, no apology from the curt and cold staff member. Staff encountered on my stay was kind and accommodating. The hotel well situated, close enough to lots of visitors sights, but removed enough from the overwhelming crowd is a bit dated, for Sofitel hotels are usually swankier than this location; example the Washington DC one. For the price paid, I expected a bit more. The room and bathroom were big enough for a New York City hotel. Room service was consistent and good. This is my 2nd visit there in a couple years, next time I'm in the area think I'll stay next door.

Very nice reception Louis Vuitton display in the foyer .. Stayed on the 29th floor room was neat and clean .Room service was fantastic. Had dinner in the hotel and breakfast . Dinner was delicious . Breakfast was stylish and the service was top notch . In the evening we had a couple drinks at the bar after a show and was treated very nicely . Will be back. And. Would recommend !!!!

5 stars to the concierge and guest services. They helped coordinate flowers, chocolate covered strawberries and wine to be delivered to my parents room during my mother's bday and they were so helpful with all of it that when it was delivered it was perfect! They communicated frequently with me and always promptly too that it was a smooth little surprise. I'm so thankful for how attentive they were.

Had a great time at Sofitel New York. I came as a wedding guest and the venue was set up well and the staff were well coordinated. The food was cooked well and the night went smoothly. I'll need to book a room one day to review that aspect but overall Sofitel had good service and friendly staff and that's a plus!

The Sofitel may appear to be luxurious, but sadly, it's a facade. The staff certainly seems kind, but their actions are not genuine. I had a few problems with my reservation and interactions with the hotel staff. The first being that we had booked a room with a king bed. Upon arrival, they had downgraded us to a queen. We requested that if a room with the initial criteria was canceled by another guest that we be offered a room switch the following day. However, there was nothing available for the days to come... nonetheless, the problem persisted. The problem continued when I requested a roll away bed. They had said that New York law did not allow a roll away bed because of fire hazard laws and that a roll away would not fit in our room. Let me clarify, I had originally booked a room with a king sized bed, a roll away was only appropriate to accommodate the original agreement - but to no avail. I had hustled my way up to my room to assess whether or not a roll away could fit. As an engineer, it could have easily fit without blocking exits. Not to mention, I have stayed at other hotels that were able to accommodate the same request. That's not all ladies and gents! We had requested for one more comforter, as they had not changed our sheets nor our comforter while we were away. For a hotel of this standard, I expect my sheets to be changed and not to simply have my bed half made. Regardless, they had no extra comforters. How is that possible? You're trying to tell me that there are no extra comforters? How are they rotating the sheets when guests check out? Are they reusing the same ones without washing them? Seems to be unsanitary to me. With all of this said, if you aren't a millionaire or have a title with your name, then don't stay here. The staff will treat you like you're worthless.

I booked the Sofitel hotel after much research Aug 31,2021 for a special 5 day Thanksgiving 2021 trip with my daughter online. 5 days before Thanksgiving they emailed me to say they had overbooked the hotel and needed to cancel my reservation!?!?! Obviously the people who DID NOT book months in advance are the ones who need to be cancelled. Besides spending hours and lots more money booking something in NYC last minute for Thanksgiving , I also saw on Google reviews that people are having troubles getting their money back too?!? Ugh!!!!! I'm furious and disgusted!! SO unfair!!! Terrible customer service!!! Do not answer their emails either. DO NOT TRUST the NYC Sofitel hotel!!!

A bit disappointed on this trip. Beautiful decor & staff/concierge are great!! But mattress is completely worn out, restaurant is closed, no coffee maker in room, mini bar is empty & room is a bit warmer than I like for sleeping, especially with only a down comforter for cover.

If you like the 1970's and worn out carpet in your rooms then this is the place for you. Don't be fooled by the lobby and common areas that are very nice because once you head upstairs you've stepped back 40 years. Rooms are in desperate need of remodeling. Glad I remembered to pack the Lysol. Came for a business trip and my boss asked how it was and I told them. They will no longer be having clients or staff stay here. Also, don't ask for a late checkout because even on a weekday they want $100 for an extra 30 minutes. I've been traveling for well over 30 years and have never had a reputable hotel say no to a late checkout for free, most give an hour especially during the week. But then that's the difference. There are so many nicer hotels in the area, go there instead. I travel here 5x a year and this place has lost our companies business. That's the beauty of time square, there's plenty of hotels that want your business.

I will begin with my first impression of the staff was each appeared to be very friendly. The hotel was in a great location. However, it is very outdated and not very clean. When I walked in the room, I hit my head on the bathroom door. The doors are not stable, and I am assuming the magnet to hold them together is worn. The door was jarred and this I was not expecting. I pulled back the sheets to spray with Lysol as I do in any hotel I stay in and there was hair on the sheets, as well there was no top sheet. I know they do not change out the comforters, due to you never see one on the maid's cart during the cleaning of checked out rooms. There was a used large towel hanging over the tub. It looked as if someone may have dried their hands on it. The carpet had multiple stains on it and the refrigerator that use to be for the in-room bar was filthy. The batteries in the remote was dead and were not replaced until the next morning. But I told myself what do I expect of a 3 star hotel. When I first arrived at the hotel the doorman's and, Boris would greet us each time upon return or when we left. On Sunday around 3pm I and my spouse were leaving out for a late lunch at Sylvia's in Harlem. When we walked out of the hotel Boris was standing on the side and did not greet us nor attempt to come hold the door as he does when others are present we walked over and asked if he could hail us a cab. He stated he would. About 5 minutes later another lady came out and Boris walks over to her and ask do you need a cab. She stated she did, but she was waiting on her daughters. He asked where she was going, and she stated the airport. He then stepped out into the streets and waved down a cab. We step forward and the lady remained stationary. Boris stated no not you and waved for the lady (whom is Caucasian, and I am African American). She looked puzzled. We said, we were here first. Boris then blatantly lied and said she asked for a cab 10 minutes ago. This lady was not out there before us; and, if this was the case why did he asked in the beginning if she needed a cab and where was she going? He then hailed a cab for us immediately afterwards. That evening upon my return I spoke with a gentleman that never gave me his name, nor ask me mines or my room number. What he did ask me was what would I like to be done? Wow...is my response to this type of service! He told me he would need to speak with Boris to get his side of the story. But not once was there any empathy displayed. I know he spoke with Boris due to when we left out that evening Boris held the door open but did not say a word. Just had a dead stare. This piqued my interest and I decided to do some research and read reviews. I learned that three years ago someone of Hispanic nationality had this same complaint about Boris. Wow again. What a coincidence. Upon check out I ask to speak with the General Manager, and I was forward to a lady that did display empathy and gave me her card and said for me to call her when I return on another visit to New York, and she would take care of us. I think not! I feel she should have taken care of the bill then. But this was not a way of saying we messed up for the Accor Properties. The thing is I would not stay at this property if they were giving rooms away for free or if they paid me to stay there. We usually stay in a 5-star hotel but thought let's give some business to the middleman. I'm told according to the reviews it is about status and racial profiling. Just so happens my spouse a doctor, and I a manager of a major utility company. I was told I would receive a call from the General Manager, and this has not taken place as of the writing of this review. I will now take this to social media as discrimination on my race and sexuality and see how many other people have received this same treatment by this hotel or Boris. I am sure this was not his first time; 3 years ago, and it will not be his last.

I stayed at your hotel to propose to my girlfriend. Before I drive, I asked if there were opportunities such as early check-in or suite upgrade. I know this is based on availability, so I didn't expect much. I specifically asked when making the reservation and they said they would help me with either one. No one helped me and they said that if I wanted early check in, I had to buy the king room. When they showed me the room I was going to stay in first, the room was clean and they didn't give early check-in. When I asked about the parking fee, I was told that if I parked outside, I had to pay every time I went in and out, but if I gave it to the valet, I would not make an extra payment if I paid $80. And it wasn't like that. I had to pay every time. I don't really care about money but I felt cheated I think I tried to explain the situation to the friend at the reception about 6 times. He is completely focused on upsell. I finally gave up and paid. I would like to thank the concierge and bellman friends, they are extremely helpful. There is a mentality at the front desk that does not suit Accor hotels at all. I hope one day you will stay in Dubai or Istanbul and see the difference. It is a beautiful French boutique hotel. I stayed here for the first time this October for my birthday. Although we have one here in LA, I had never been. The customer service was great. Almost the entire staff spoke French which was definitely a vibe. During check in, they told us they were upgrading our room as a birthday gift and surprised us with complimentary champagne with macaroons. It was super sweet and thoughtful. We had a beautiful view of New York City from our room. The rooms were extremely clean and in excellent condition. If it is your first time visiting NYC, Times Square is literally a tourist trap. This hotel is 1-2 blocks away from Times Square. Close walking distance but far away enough to get away from all the tourist noise and chaos. I can't wait to go back!

We were here tonight. My parents are in town for a visit and they'd love a seafood dinner. This place is around the corner so we pick this one. They participate in the restaurant week but the restaurant week menu, similar to other restaurants, are pretty much over priced. We went with the regular one. Now the food: We shared grilled octopus as a starter. The ladies opted for the seared scallops and the gentlemen went with New York sirloin and bone-in ribeye. I didn't have any beef as I'm not a big fan. The octopus comes in with bacon and potatoes decorated around the main presentation. The sauce is a bit creamy and goes pretty well with the octopus itself.

Unfortunately, both of those fine hotels were booked due to activities at the UN. It's no surprise this hotel had availability, as it's completely substandard (especially for the absurd price). The first room we were in had exposed concrete, bugs (we had to kill), a broken lampshade and an inoperable mini-bar refrigerator that hotel offered to replace with a portable unit that looked like it had been dropped out of a window (crushed and scratched on multiple sides). We asked to be moved, but the 2nd room was just as run down. We settled on the 3rd room because it was clear this 25-year old hotel has seen better days- and didn't really have the advertised 4-star rooms. And, of course, we had issues with our final bill; just a comedy of errors from start to finish. While we were complaining, another woman came up to the Front Desk saying she wanted to change her room, too, commenting "this doesn't look or feel like a Sofitel". We couldn't have said it better. Cannot recommend this property.

The actual hotel was nice and located in a prime location (if you're looking to be near Times Square). I was not -- but I was working nearby so I didn't really have a choice. The whole vibe though, wasn't really my speed. If you're looking for young, hip, and cool -- this isn't it. The majority of the people who stay here are an older crowd and perhaps some families on holiday. It felt a bit stuffy. And also for the price of what you pay for the room, it's pretty basic. The bathroom is really nice though. The mirror has perfect built-lighting. And it's walking distance to Times Square if you want to catch a show or it's your first time in the city.

Stayed at the Sofitel from Feb. 2-5 for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We got a great package deal through Gilt Group for a luxury king room with views of the city. They were able to honor my request for a high room (24th floor) and away from the elevator (my husband is a light sleeper and the constant "ding" of an elevator drives him nutty). We arrived late and our room was ready and had a special Happy Anniversary chocolate treat, which was a special touch that I only find in smaller or boutique hotel chains. The room was a good size for NYC and the bathroom was nicely laid out (rectangle) with a separate shower and tub. It had a in-room safe, bathrobes and slippers, and two complimentary bottles of water. Each floor had an ice machine so that was convenient. We didn't check out the gym or roof, so I can't attest to those, but it was a very cute hotel that was conveniently located to the theater district and many good places to eat. I can't wait to come back!

I love this hotel for what it is....a boutique hotel that is as close to times square as you can get without being directly in it. But, it's quiet, secluded and literally a block or two away from EVERYTHING. Service was top notch but no pool and you literally are staring at a wall for a view. Also, room service is not 24/7 and ends at 11pm. Upside? The guests are all mature and the bar/restaurant was a nice alternative if you want to eat in.

We had a wonderful stay for 3 nights in an executive suite. I read alot of reviews beforehand and requested a fridge, coffee maker and that the minibar be locked - due to our 3.5 year old who liked to check everything out. We booked this suite as our child could go to bed earlier and we could close the doors to the bedroom and hang out. Top tips for booking is join the free Accor hotels loyalty program and you get a further 10% off the price offered by the hotel/various websites . We also ordered breakfast in advance which was free for children under 12 if the adults were ordering it. We had it in our room each morning which was a great treat and just paid the additional taxes and gratuity. It is much cheaper to preorder rather than itemize when you are there. Breakfast was very generous so we often put some leftovers in the fridge for later in the day. The staff were lovely, the room was very spacious for NYC. We were on the 21st floor with a great view of the Chrysler building. The only complaint was the Keurig coffee maker and sugar/milk was never replaced despite requests.

Beautiful lobby, friendly knowledgeable staff, clean, spacious well appointed room. So close to everything in the city but so quiet in the room. I will be returning!!!! Saw a few negative reviews about staff, cleanliness of rooms and quality of the NY Sofitel overall. Did not experience any issues during my visit and enjoyed my stay thoroughly.

Trying to find a consistently good hotel in Manhattan that doesn't break the bank is hard. What $250 a night buys you often disappoints and bargains in the $125-150 range are down right horrible so I splurged a lot and tried the $350 range for a night in mid-town Manhattan. Sofitels are always top rate in terms of service, location, and rooms. This one did not disappoint. I was upgraded to a king from a queen which was great. View was solid if a little dull. Really quiet room, a killer bed that you nuzzle into and it just swallows you up. Feather down duvet! I was in heaven. Great location blocks from Times Square and subway, bus, cabs galore. Not on a super busy side street. Definitely stay here again. Great place. Would give it 4.5 stars if it wasn't so darn expensive.

There is a lot to love about this hotel. The rooms are spacious, the hotel itself is beautiful, the location is superb. But we're trying The Knickerbocker on our next visit to NYC. Why? Hotel Sofitel is professionally run, but I would not say the staff is personable. Case in point: Anytime you approach the elevators, you walk by the front desk--which is about 15 feet off to your left. My daughter and I always looked over and smiled (usually giddy from being out and about in NYC) and not once did a staff member even look up, make eye contact or in any way acknowledge our presence. And we were there 5 days! That's a lot of trips back and forth to the elevator. Acknowledging every guest every time is certainly not doable, but a quick glance up, once in a blue moon, would help counter the general feeling of indifference. The concierge on the other hand was helpful and friendly. And room service staff were on time and lovely. (Coffee is great by the way.) Another thing. I am paranoid about bedbugs. Every hotel in NYC has experienced them, through no fault of their own, including Sofitel. Before our trip, I sent an email to the manager expressing my concern (paranoia) and asking for reassurance. Nada. No response whatsoever. The hotel just really doesn't go the extra mile in terms of attentiveness/friendliness to guests. I don't need staff fawning all over me, but a smile and a little more warmth might have encouraged us to rebook here. As it is, I am looking forward to seeing what else mid town has to offer in terms of hotels :)

This hotel is off the chain... Staff treats customers like first class. The rooms are phenomenal as well as the views from the windows. We stayed on the 14 floor and we're pleased with the overall package. Our kids felt like they were at home, very comfortable and welcomed. We will definitely stay there again.

Overall, my experience here was very positive. This is a fantastic hotel. The location can't be beat: it's in Midtown and is super close to everything, but it's on a relatively quiet street. Rooms are huge and super luxurious. The beds and pillows are ridiculously comfortable. The blackout curtains are freaking FANTASTIC. There's a shower and separate tub in the bathroom, and it's stocked with Lanvin toiletries, which is a nice touch. It's also very quiet. I was up on the 17th floor and didn't hear a peep for the first couple of nights. After that I could hear people in the neighboring rooms a bit, so the walls are thinner than I'd have liked, but it really wasn't bad overall. So why only three stars? I had two poor experiences with the housekeeping service. One evening I was in my room getting ready to go out, and a housekeeper opened the door, without even knocking. It alarmed me and also made me wonder what she was doing there, as my room had already been cleaned earlier in the day. Second, I left a bag of souvenirs in my room after I checked out. Admittedly, that was my own fault. But I called the hotel several times that same day and the housekeepers never turned the bag over to security, which is the hotel policy. So that was a major bummer. Not sure if I'd stay here again because of those two instances, which is a shame because otherwise, it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had.

Female manager night manager (Long dark hair in a pony-tail, wearing glasses) was so extremely rude to our party. She literally started an argument in the lobby about parking and was screaming at us. Everyone else was friendly (bellboys, valet parking attendant, security) but this lady who kept shouting "I AM THE MANAGER!!!!" should not be working with the public. Vicious Shrew came to mind. Jaws dropped at her tantrums. She would not be diplomatic or understanding. And when we mentioned writing a review about her behavior she screamed even louder. We are appalled and will never stay at this hotel again. Wow! ps. Room was nice BUT they have NO wine at all in their mini-bar. No wine in the room at all. Wtf??

Had to change room 2x... first time the window was broken. Second time the bed sheets were wet in certain spots- gross. Stayed at other Sofitel's before and this one def doesn't come across as Sofitel worthy. Finally got a third working room but was smaller than the other two. Personnel did not seem surprised or apologetic...likely not the first time it happened

This hotel used to be first rate, and was the only choice for my wife and I to stay at when going to a show in the City. I have no idea what happened, but the staff doesnt care anymore. Upon checking in, the front desk ouldnt give any details about how much our charge card would be processed for "incidentals", which is an issue since it can take over a week for such charges to be eliminated from one's credit line. Next, after changing, we wanted to have dinner in the hotel as in the past, but were told the restaurant was closed due to covid...umm, this is August 2022 guys, get with it, everyone else has opened up. We walked a few doors down, and had a superb meal at the 'Strip House' (15west 44th)...the food was to die for. We changed and went to our show, afterwards, walking back to Sofitel at 10PM, we were looking forward to room service as a nightcap. First of all, the room had no menues, or instructions on how to reach room service. When we did finally call the front desk, we were told the menu was on the TV...really...it would be nice if there was a card or something that informs a guest of that. Then we were informed room service ended at 10PM...thanks a lot...other hotels have room service at least intil midnight. The front desk couldnt care less...good move...youve lost loyal customers for life, and others who will read this you'll never know...

I will definitely recommended SOFITEL to all my friends and will return whenever I plan on visiting NYC in the the near future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! UNTIL THEN!! ^-^

I just love this hotel! It's the French's answer to the Waldorf=Astoria, but unlike the Waldorf, I really enjoyed staying here. This is an upscale hotel that offers all of the amenities. The entry is gorgeous, the concierge is Cle D'or certified, and the doorman will hail a cab for you in the morning and take your bags to the car. Those extra touches just mean so much. The room was beautiful. The bathroom had a marble floor, a bath tub, and a separate shower stall. I detest tubs, so I was very excited to see the private stall with the glass door. The bathroom was stocked daily with generous portions of Roger and Gallet oat milk soap bars, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion -- these are great products that I would actually use away from a hotel. The bed was very comfortable too. And I loved the Bose radio in my room -- Andrea Bocelli never sounded so good. Also they offer 4 romantic upgrade packages to make the room even more spectacular should the occasion arise. Fabulous hotel, highly recommend. Rack rates were $285/night during my stay -- a bargain for Manhattan.
