Sofitel Tamuda Bay Beach & Spa (Tamuda Bay, Tangier-Tétouan) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Mediterranean coast of Morocco, to the east of the Strait of Gibraltar, is relatively under-traveled, compared to Atlantic destinations like Casablanca and Essaouira. But it’s not without appeal. One of the attractions, in the town of M’Diq, about twenty miles to the east of Tangier, is the Sofitel Tamuda Bay Beach & Spa. As you’d expect from a Sofitel in Morocco, it’s got more than a little bit of a French accent. It’s to the local firm GM Architects, though, that the buildings owe their very pronounced modern Moroccan style." - Tablet Hotels

The beach at Sofitel is absolutely stunning — clean, quiet, and perfectly maintained. The soft white sand and crystal-clear water create a true paradise feeling. What impressed me most was the attention to detail: comfortable sunbeds, prompt beach service, and the relaxing ambiance. It’s the ideal place to unwind while enjoying a luxury setting. Watching the sunset here was a magical experience. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a high-end beachfront stay.

Our experience at Sofitel M’diq was nothing short of amazing. The hotel is beautiful, perfectly located, and offers everything you’d expect from a luxury stay, but what truly made it unforgettable was the incredible staff.||A special thank you to Adil, Abdallah, Brahim, Mazine, Nouhaila, Karim, Soufiane, Yassmine, and Amanallah. Each one of them was genuinely kind, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure we felt welcomed and cared for throughout our stay.||From the spotless rooms to the relaxing beach and pool areas, every detail was flawless. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sofitel M’diq, we’ll definitely be back!||5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A perfect escape with exceptional service.

I stayed at the hotel for two nights, and overall, it was a relaxing experience. The hotel’s design is beautiful and tranquil — perfect for rest and comfort. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always available to assist with a smile. The room was tidy and equipped with all basic essentials. The breakfast buffet was rich and diverse, including various types of eggs, cheeses, fruits, pastries, nuts, and some traditional Moroccan dishes. I also appreciated the dedicated pancake station, a selection of appetizers, and fresh juices — a lovely touch that elevated the experience. However, there are a few points that could be improved: 1. The room’s air conditioning wasn’t effective — even after maintenance, it remained weak. 2. There were too many flying insects, making it difficult to open or enjoy the balcony. 3. The room needed more detailed cleaning. 4. After housekeeping cleaned the room, tea and coffee were not replenished despite being empty. 5. Some breakfast items served outdoors were not covered, which attracted insects and raised hygiene concerns. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but a few improvements in these details would make it even better.

Perfect seaside escape with style and service|A beautiful hotel right by the sea – modern, elegant, yet relaxed. The staff were consistently warm and professional. Highlights include the stunning pool area, excellent breakfast, and direct beach access. I felt truly at ease and would gladly return!

Rooms: 4/5|We stayed at the second floor with beach view. The room was spacious and felt luxurious with an exception of some small details that felt a bit outdated. (Ex. Yellow wall painting, balcony door). There is also some visible damage to interior furnitures, that needs repair. ||Food: 5/5|The food was fantastic. We ate at beach club, pachamama and Iloli. We loved the meny, food quality and the environment. On all these places. Even had a flamenco show on Pachamama. ||Spa: 4/5|The spa was very good. And the women did an excellent job! ||Service: 3/5|The staff are very friendly and try to be as helpful as possible, BUT||1. don’t push me to write a review and try to influence my opinion. I know the people working there try to get bonuses so the fault is at how the hotel is managed from the top.||2. There are a lot of people working that’s not doing anything. It takes 15 min to get a drink because a specific manager has to make a order while other staff is just standing there. || 3. It feels like the different restaurants are competing with eachother and you get a sense that they try to influence your choice.||This is pricey luxury hotel so expectation is high. Therefor I will give it 3 stars.||I will however give a shoutout to Hicham at Iloli restaurant. He was very professional, and was the only one asking for honest advices of improvement, AFTER the meal.

The hotel is wonderful with very nice views of the ocean and swimming pools. Breakfast is expensive, but delicious. The service at breakfast is exceptional with lovely views and lots of selection. It feels like five stars all the way around. There is a restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean and nice ambience inside. The service was great and the food was very good. My server Badr Araro was excellent and when he noticed I was cold, he got a blanket for me. I did arrive close to closing time and they were out of some things like the risotto I wanted, but that is understandable. I am going to give the restaurant four stars because as I was leaving, the manager told me that I could not charge my bill to my room. This may have been a simple misunderstanding, but I was told by my hosts that since I am speaking at several events for them, dinner would be covered. In fact, I was encouraged by my hosts to enjoy the dinner on them. I informed the manager of that, but he walked me to the front desk as if I were a criminal trying to get away with not paying for my meal. Unfortunately, the person at the front desk only reiterated and said that I needed to pay…so I did. I reached out to my host who told me that was incorrect and I should not have paid. I have stayed in many five-star hotels and have never gotten this kind of treatment before. It was embarrassing. This certainly seems like the kind of thing that could have been handled upon check out. I am staying four nights and it is quite expensive for my hosts, but nothing would make me want to have another meal here after this experience. I am staying in probably the nicest room in the hotel, and it is definitely lovely. There are many extra touches including robes, slippers, a nice bathtub, and eco-friendly amenities such as coffee pods and glass bottles of water as well as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and shower gel all in eco-friendly dispensers. The sleep quality of the bed could have been better as it is apparent that two beds are connected together to make one larger bed. Despite that, I appreciate the green hotel and would give the room and amenities five stars. The service at the hotel itself has mainly been good, but they did forget to bring me coffee pods one day, and they forgot to bring me water another day. On the day they forgot to bring me water, I asked the front desk to please make sure I got some water as I left for my event in the morning. When I returned in the evening, I found there was still no water. I called to the front desk and was disappointed to hear the front desk attendant say that it must be because I had do not disturb on my door. I assured him that I did not have do not disturb on my door. I appreciated that they ended up sending water, but this was not a five star experience for me. Overall, this is probably one of the nicest hotels in the area, but based on the experience with the restaurant and service, I would likely not return.

This was my second stay at the hotel, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety, the staff were friendly and professional, and my room with the sea view was spotless — truly perfect. If I had one suggestion, it would be to upgrade the gym. The equipment is very limited, there are no towels available early in the morning, and the view overlooks the parking lot instead of the sea, which feels like a missed opportunity. That said, everything else was great, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
