Sofitel Winter Palace Luxor

After travelling through Egypt and staying in some of the Most luxurious Western Brands we arrived at the Winter Palace. The Service was Spotless and very elegant. The Best We have Experienced in Egypt. The Public Spaces are majestic can be called historic but also outdared at the same time. Nice high ceiling rooms. Stunning Gardens and the Best Location in Luxor. F&B Prices Are the highest in all of Egypt. The Service in all Outlets was top notch. The food quality for the Price very mediocre. Burger at the Pool was boring and the Fine Dining Restaurant offers ok French classics. The Buffet by the Pool was harshly Priced at 60$ p.p and was on the border of feeling Like a Rip Off. Breakfast is Great. Concierge and Reception is highly stilled and friendly.

We stayed in the Winter Palace Hotel for 2 nights during our tour of Egypt with Djed Egypt Travel. The hotel is beautiful and elegant with warm and friendly staff. Our room overlooked the gardens and the pool area with beautiful lighting at night. We ate our first meal by the pool and the food was delicious. We also ate in the 1886 restaurant and it was a great experience. My meal was delicious but my husband's lagostino were tough. However, it didn't detract from our experience. We also had room service one night which was quite delicious. Our room was spacious with a balcony, large bathroom, and an honor bar. I'm sorry we missed the tour of this hotel which has so much history. Staying here was worth the splurge. We would definitely stay here again.

Winter palace itself is filled with historic details and is truly stunning, I gave 4 stars as the hotel needs some improvements. The rooms facing the Nile are very noisy both day and night as there is a main road in front of the hotel, so don’t choose them if you care about noises. Garden side is much better. The room we stayed first night was not clean, toilet smells bad and the towels are terrible (see the pictures). We insisted to change room in the second night and everything is ok. So the hotel does not have a good management to ensure a same cleaning standard. The food is just average, though the desserts at the royal bar is good. The staff are nice, especially the chief butler Mr. Ahmed is very attentive and helpful, saved our impression to the hotel a lot. Do check the Gaddis & Co. at the ground floor of winter palace, best souvenir shop in Luxor.

We had a really wonderful stay here. Everyone was sooo friendly. Room was spacious and had old world charm. The grounds were lovely. Good selections at the breakfast buffet. Service was prompt. Only minor issues we noted that cannot easily be changed due to the historic nature of the hotel: there is faint smell of cigar/cigarette smoke that probably came thru the ventilation system. (Also for those who are skin sensitive- the bath towels are a little scratchy.) Overall we loved our stay here.

This is an old grande dame. It is elegant and has a long history, formerly a palace. We had a room facing the Nile with a balcony, which was lovely. The bathroom was not good for my husband, who is 83 with some mobility limitations. There were no handles on the wall to get in and out of the shower, which was located above a wonderfully deep soaking tub. The marble floors were slippery. Perhaps ask for a handicap accessible room if you have concerns. ||The grounds were gorgeous as was the huge pool, which was heated to somewhere between 85-90 degrees. ||Breakfast was very nice and very elegant. Beware drinks in the bar are very, very pricey! Only Egyptian wines available and imported spirits - a martini was 40 USD!

The staff were so welcoming and warm hearted, everyone was smiling and had such a great sense of humour and manners. I felt at home, and was impressed by the Hotels authentic feel and history. It is quite simply incredible...and then there is the graden...! such a wonderful oasis in the middle of Luxor. The garden is full of history too, with incredible specimen trees and birdlife, pool, and if needed the view from the street side of the hotel accross the river Nile is stunning too....especialy first thing in the morning when you can watch the sun rise and illuminate the valley of the kings accross the river. I would not stay anywhere else...!!!!

The place is beautiful. Ashraf served us and his hospitality was top notch. We had special request for vegeterian food and he himself ensured delicious Indian style preparation. We were amazed with how the chef Yasim prepared egyptian dishes in Indian taste. We had a memorable time here.

The atmosphere is elegant and full of charm, offering a special feeling you don’t find everywhere.|Everything about the place reflects authenticity and quality. I genuinely enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and distinctive experience
