Obsessed with this concept! As someone who is currently trying to be as Cali sober as possible, I *love* that there is a bottle shop that is completely alcohol free. Zero proofs are becoming a bigger thing in Los Angeles and that makes me smile.
They have all the hard liquors like several whiskeys, gins, tequilas, browns and clears lol...I don't know much about hard liqs clearly. I am not a wine person, but I was very interested in trying a non-alcoholic wine to see how it is. The bottles were expensive, same price as alcoholic bottles with most around $25-35. I am a cheap @$$ and found a bottle for $12 so bought that to try. Though a bit pricey, all the bottles are beautifully designed and the flavors sound absolutely delicious.
My main draw though - the beer. I'm a beer chick and was excited to see what options they offered. I usually order Athletic Brewing and have tried many of their options so was looking for what else was out there. I was happy to see about 7 new options to try from a few breweries. I bought one of each to try ranging from $2.50-$3.25. I'm excited to dig into them all!
The shop is brightly lit, really well organized, and the person working was very friendly. They took special care to even wrap up my wine nicely.
A few things that would make this really cool shop exceptional....
More, more, more! I get the aesthetic that they are going for here. It's not some dingy convenience store beer shop...but I feel like with more stock, they'd make more sales. For example, I bought 6 singular beer cans but if they had offered the 6 packs of them, I may have gone for an even bigger purchase. Also, they had 6 types of beer from Athletic, which is awesome. But Athletic has sooooooo many awesome options! They didn't carry any of their sours and the Athletic sour beers are actually the best NA beers I've ever had on the market. I highly suggest them stocking them for people to see how good NA beers truly can be.
We had great service, super friendly. However, some people walked in at 6:59pm, a minute before closing. I get that that sucks when you're working, but the staff said "Hi, we're closing but if you know what you want, I can check you out." The customers replied, it's our first time here so we don't know...and then seemed very put off and walked out. This is such a small shop that I'm sure every sale would make a difference to them...so I found it weird to essentially kick potential new loyal customers out. This didn't affect me personally, but it's worth mentioning.
We need more NA drink places in the city~!!!! I'm so happy Soft Spirits opened in Silver Lake and hope they only expand their presence!
