LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"Sogno Toscano, a self-described “lifestyle cafe” with solid focaccia sandwiches, now has a second LA location next to The Grove’s dancing fountain. It sounds way less tranquil than their neighborhood Santa Monica cafe, but at least there’s a decent casual Italian option at The Grove where you can order a strong espresso or 1pm Aperol spritz. Sogno Toscano also serves pastries, antipasti like prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe, pasta, and Roman-style pinsas. We recently visited Sogno Toscano. Read our thoughts here." - sylvio martins

The 7 Best Restaurants At The Grove

"Eating next to The Grove’s fountain is a fundamentally embarrassing activity. Sorry, we don’t make the rules. But if you insist on eating somewhere near the main square, sit at the marble bar inside Sogno Toscano. This Italian “lifestyle cafe” (whatever that means) has an intimate bar area that feels just removed enough from the outside chaos and a large menu with sections dedicated to charcuterie, pasta, salads, focaccia sandwiches, and Roman-style pizza. All of it is fine. The real highlights are the cocktails, including the house negroni and a gimlet with lavender honey. If you’re feeling peckish, and you might be after touring all three levels of the Nike store, order a salumi board to pick at. " - brant cox

Sogno Toscana Review - Beverly Grove - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

We enjoyed our lunch tremendously! Sitting outside in a magical atmosphere, even it was chilly there were warmers. The food was absolutely amazing! Everything we tasted was so good- we took the endive and artichoke salads, pomodoro pasta, potato purée (highly recommend!), catch of the day (salmon) and avocado toast. The cappuccino, tiramisu and cheese cake were also excellent. The chef, Jackson, is extremely talented and Oscar our waiter made it all feel superior. Superb!

Google
The food is excellent, the vibes and the view is great. Everything is from Italy, the pizza. Margarita is great and the dough is totally different from anything. I tasted here. It was great experience. The kids love the pasta, but you have to have the burgers if you come.

Sogno Toscano is a hidden gem nestled right in front of the Christmas tree at The Grove, making it an ideal spot, especially during the festive season. I had the pleasure of dining there on the night of the tree lighting event, and I can confidently say that my experience was nothing short of magical. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Giselle, an extraordinary hostess who truly set the tone for the evening. I arrived early due to the bustling crowds and limited shopping options, and Giselle went above and beyond to accommodate us. Not only did she manage to pull together a table for us ahead of our reservation, but she also placed us in the prime location to enjoy the tree lighting. Her warmth and attention to detail made us feel welcomed and valued. The ambiance at Sogno Toscano is enchanting, with a charming Italian flair that complements the festive atmosphere. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and I loved hearing them converse in Italian with my boyfriend, which added an authentic touch to our experience. Now, let's talk about the food! Every dish we tried was a delight, showcasing the rich flavors of true Italian cuisine. The wine selection was impressive, and I highly recommend indulging in their espresso martinis – they were simply divine! Overall, Sogno Toscano offers a perfect blend of exceptional service, delectable food, and a prime location for enjoying the holiday spirit. If you find yourself at The Grove, especially during the Christmas season, make sure to stop by this fantastic restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

Google
The limoncello cocktail I ordered while waiting for my pinsa was incredible. Definitely made this awful pizza (with a corner piece that is LITERALLY only crust) SUPER disappointing 🥴😮‍💨 This prosciutto "pinsa" is the saddest thing I've ever paid for. It's literally just a pizza huge crust with 5 small balls of mozzarella and decorative amounts of prosciutto on top 🫢 Definitely NOT WORTH IT! 💯 The bartender, and the limoncello cocktail I ordered while waiting turned out to be the best thing about this place sadly. Maybe only go for a drink? 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

I had had the most amazing experience at Sogno Toscano. Their Gelato is delicious, perfect for summer and I am not even mentioning the espresso . So good!!!

WE LOVED THIS RESTAURANT. We went to the Grove and decided to have dinner at "Sogno Toscana," an outstanding Italian restaurant. It was perfect in every way; great food, great drinks, outstanding and friendly staff, beautiful location, etc. I love Italian food but I can't think of one Italian restaurant that I like, until "Sogno Toscano." The food was outstanding, and there was so much more we saw go by that we can't wait to go back and try. And the drinks were outstanding. I love martini's and they served the best martini I've ever had. Giacomo was our server and took great care of us. He's from Italy and "Sogno Toscana" brought him to America when they opened their New York restaurant, and now he's in LA for this new restaurant. Although very busy, the entire staff were very fun to be around, and most of them are Italian which is also great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Google
Hi, our elementary school just had Sogno Toscano cater our teacher’s end of school year party and they were fantastic! They were so generous with the portions and came and set up the most beautiful spread. And the food was delicious! The teachers and staff were absolutely blown away. I will recommend them to everyone! They did a perfect job.

Yelp
tomato soup (warm, light, delicious) & selection of bruschette (variety bites of bread & toppings) - highly recommend these two together! drinks: freshly squeezed orange juice and cappuccino (absolutely amazing) amazing hospitality and sweet staff

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and was able to get a table for two without any wait. I mainly went to soak in the beautiful outdoor ambiance and enjoy the lovely view of The Grove. The outdoor seating here is impeccable, creating the perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon. Ordered the Pomodoro soup, a selection of Bruschette, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a cappuccino. Every single dish was fantastic. The servers speak Italian to each other, so it was gunna be awkward if the food hadn't been good. The Pomodoro soup was tangy and tomato-forward--not creamy, but instead embracing the natural texture and bright acidity of the fruit. It paired perfectly with the Bruschette. The truffle and tomato Bruschette were the true standouts. The truffle wasn't overpowering but melded beautifully with the garlic and olive oil, achieving a perfect balance of flavors in every bite. The real surprise, though, was the tomato Bruschetta. The tomatoes were sweet and tender, their skins peeled and seemingly fermented in a light sugar water (?), creating an incredible burst of flavor with each bite. It was unexpectedly the star of the dish. The freshly squeezed orange juice was, as promised, truly fresh and excellent. The macchiato was also spot-on. Beyond the food, the service was warm and welcoming. The servers, hosts, and bus staff brought a piece of Italy to LA, making the experience all the more special. Love love love

Yelp
Overall: decent food with a few nitpicks Food: 4/5 Ragu: deep flavors, rich meat sauce and the right amount of creaminess Truffle pizza: crust has nice chew though not much flavor Filet steak: a very thick gray band (uneven cook temperature), carrots were soft, charred and sweet Carpaccio: the arugula dressed in lemon juice gave the dish nice balance Service: 5/5 We got there right at opening so they seemed a bit frazzled. Food came quickly and servers were attentive. Ambiance: 4/5 nice heat lamps for outdoors, great view of the Grove (especially the Christmas tree). It was unfortunate that little leaves kept falling in our food :(

Yelp
Sogno Tocasno is the newest Italian restaurant at the Grove. With a light green aesthetic and beautiful floral plates, I'm getting a Gucci Osteria vibe and I don't mind. It started as an actual foods brand in NYC and this is now their second restaurant location here in LA, the first in Santa Monica. I've had brunch and dinner there now, but with such a big menu, there's still so much to try! They have a strong emphasis on wines and cocktails, so if that's your thing you may enjoy their libations. Though I can't comment on the liqs, their espresso was rich and tasty. The burrata at brunch was beautiful, with meat and figs that were just heavenly~! It was a variation of the Burrata & Crudo on the menu, some type of special that day the said would soon be added to the menu. They def should because we loved it. We also had an egg breakfast schiacciata/sandwich which we weren't big fans of. Last night I had the Pesto ($28) and Amatriciana ($32) pastas. My friend and I loved both dishes, though the Amatriciana won out a bit in terms of being my favorite. Fresh fusilli pasta with tomato sauce, pecorino fossa & guanciale (kinda like an Italian classy bacon) made up this slightly superior red sauce dish. In the lesser but still great other pasta, the hand-crafted cavatelli pasta was topped with a delicious pesto Genovese sauce. NOTE: They also sell their ssauce! Good sized portion on both pasta dishes. When we dined in Friday night, their was a live saxophonist and pianist. Super cute vibes. One note we noticed on both times, was time to wrap things up was a bit slow. Ordering and receiving food was fast, completely normal speeds but then on both visits we ended up waiting 20+ minutes for the check. On both visits, we noticed it looked to be just one server handling all the tables. Wowza, impressive and she's so nice...but there definitely needs to be another server. Overall, love the food at Sogno Toscano and it's a great option for us pre & post movies at the Grove AMC. We still have so~ much on the menu to explore!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! Definitely let this be your next stop if you're in the area. I came to the grove to hang out a little and passed by this new restaurant and let me tell you it was worth the stop. Greeted by the host, Elliott, and one of the managers Giselle. They take their customer experience seriously! Amazing convo and genuine people. If the food wasn't good (and it is), I'd stop by just to see them alone. Onto the food, WOW. The BEST prosciutto sandwich I've ever had. I think about it literally everyday since I've been. I'm counting the days until I get to go back again. Everyone was so ready for recommendations. They import their ingredients from Italy and you can tell. The quality of food is just otherworldly! (Italian to be specific). Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
I was highly impressed by this restaurant. We sat down so that we had a place to feed our kid, and were very pleasantly surprised. Firstly, everything on their menu is imported from Italy, so none of that American made charcuterie that's lacking in flavor. The next thing that really surprised me was their bolognese ragu. They cook it according to the original ragu recipe, which does not include and tomato sauce. Its base is made from onions, carrots, celery, and flavored with beef stock. Utterly delicious. We also had the prosciutto focaccia sandwich which was light and refreshing. Prices are on the higher end, but worth it.

Yelp
The Grove area is a super fancy high end indoor/outdoor shopping mall with plenty of restaurants PARKING - there is a pay to park lot right on the location. For 2 hours it was $15 ENTRANCE - staff met us right away and sat us outside as requested. DECOR - very stellar with great views of the central fountain from the outdoor seating SERVICE - very exceptional to say the least. Very helpful and attentive save the lunch rush which is hard for any waiter MENU - they have a lot of categories like salads, sandwiches, entrees etc. but within the care options are limited to like a half dozen APPETIZERS - we didn't order any so let me know for the next time. ENTREES - has the ciao de Pepe which was really tasty but the portion size was pretty small for $28 Daughter had one of the sandwiches which she said was great DESSERT - we passed on so I apologize VINO - mostly all Italian despite many good California ones in California? However their Cabernet was decent but maturing fast for 2022. Color starting to maroon but a nice dry and tobacco flavor PRICE - very expensive overall but you are paying for the better part of the Grove. For two people and two drinks and a good tip $125. So at least $$$$$$ NOTE: just a short distance there is the lower rent district by the farmers market. There are food options there as well for the rest of us LOL

Yelp
For those of you that don't know this place does CATERING! Went to a birthday party this weekend and there was a myriad of goodies everyone went wild for. Amazing quality meats and sandwiches and apps I can't wait to go try their regular menu! Highly recommend Giselle from Sogno she did such a beautiful job and she's amazing. Tis the season of meat and cheese & apps if you don't know what to do this holiday season or anytime call Sogno!!

David J.

Yelp
Probably one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in LA. The food is at an artisan level. Perfect portions and presentation. Priced perfectly. The ambience sitting outside is that of a Tuscan villa. My two favorite dishes were the lasagna and artisan burger. I look forward to coming back again and trying more dishes. Service was great and the maitre d and owner both came to our table and asked how our food was. I even asked to thank the chef on how great his food was.
google avatar

Anush B.

Yelp
The cutest cafe in the Grove. It's in the perfect area with some great scenery. The service was great and the staff very kind. They didn't have a great selection to try from their brunch menu. We got the loaded croissant and the egg sandwich. Although the ingredients were fresh both meals were just bland. I'd recommend for them to try to spice up the brunch menu.

Yelp
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in LA. The food is authentic and fresh, the service was wonderful from start to finish, and the ambiance is stellar inside or outside by the grove fountains. Highly recommend!

Yelp
When I tell you this is my favorite restaurant I'm not lying. Please try the espresso martinis... in fact try everything. The pasta is out of this world, I can't wait to try more from there. My entire family loved it, we had the best experience and all the workers there are so nice and fun. John is a great bartender and made our experience so enjoyable. The overall vibe there is out of this world.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
Ambiance is super cute and romantic. Everything feels authentic Italian. They even serve Italian Coca Cola. The pesto was okay.. I just feel like the noodles were too small but maybe that's just how it's supposed to be. Overall really good though
google avatar

Yelp
Had lunch today and want to say that Gaia, Giacomo and Dallas were so awesome. We were immediately greeted and seated in a nice table for 2 outside. They were kind, helpful and gracious and the food was excellent. Thank you for a very nice experience
google avatar

Pilar M.

Yelp
A new addition to The Grove. Went last night and this is a very authentic Italian food. Another reviewer suggested to eat at La Piazza instead. Please, cannot compare these two restaurants. The wines are all Italian and the Pinot Noir we had was excellent. One of my favorite places at The Grove.
google avatar

Yelp
Sogno Toscano's is genuinely a gem. The staff is so kind, the outdoor seating area is lovely, and the food is to die for. I am excited to try more dishes in the future! As someone gluten intolerant, it was so nice to find a nice restaurant with gluten free bread options and a pizza crust made with flour that I was told is easier for most bodies to digest. Seeing stuff like that on the menu gives me peace of mind while also making me feel a little more seen in a world that doesn't always cater to people like me. (The fact that it was to die for is also a bonus.) Overall, I will be coming back to see what else gets added to the menu - and also just to have a great dinner with great waitstaff. 10/10!

Yelp
Wow. What a beautiful restaurant located at The Grove! Dinner with a view! We enjoyed delicious food. I would recommend the Bolognese Ragu, the Ojai salad (wow!) and the Lasagna! Food was amazing but the service could be better.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
It may improve but right now could not be worse, the ingredients are sub par, definitely not imported from Italy and if they are, it's Italy's worst. The waiter forgot about us and though they did give a dessert to make up for that, they then forgot about us again and didn't bring us our to go box. Go to la piazza or alma next door

Joy S.

Yelp
Taste of Tuscany in your back yard!! So beautiful and relaxing sandwhiched between the Grove fountain and the lawn. And our waiter was full blown Italian too!!
google avatar

Myles M.

Yelp
Sogno Toscano - The Grove is a delightful spot for anyone seeking a charming dining experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind. Each dish bursts with flavor, showcasing authentic Tuscan cuisine that truly transports you to Italy. Service is attentive yet unobtrusive, ensuring a pleasant meal without feeling rushed. Definitely a place worth revisiting!
google avatar

Bruna P.

Yelp
The place is Wow! My friend Giselle, event coordinator there recommended me and I came with some friends... What a beautiful location! I love the Grove and honestly, tried the best Italian food! The soups are soooo delicious ! The new menu looks amazing too. I will be back for more!
google avatar

Ann K.

Yelp
Service was amazing and tentative! Bartender made us a drink and was so delicious perfectly light and citrus. Tiramisu is a must!! 10 stars

Amy P.

Yelp
It was our first time here and we loved it. Jacamo the manager was absolutely amazing. He shared with us that he moved for Italy and told us about his background. He recommended great dishes. We ordered the bolognese, ojai salad, and squash soup. All great items. We sat next to the tree and had a wonderful time. I will definitely be back
google avatar

Sarah O.

Yelp
It was fine. We ordered the meatballs to start and they were good but kind of small. I had pasta and it was good. Not bad!
google avatar

Nataliia G.

Yelp
What an amazing restaurant! Love everything about this place, from great and fresh food ( we had tuna sandwich, scallop pasta and artichoke salad) to delicious latte and tiramisu. The stuff is very friendly. They offered a blanket because it became little colder in the evening. I will recommend to my friends

Izzy S.

Yelp
We have been coming to the Grove for over five years and this is the first place in the spot by the fountain that we absolutely love. The food was incredible. It was fresh and imported from Italy, everything I've ordered here has been immaculate including the pizzas and bolognese and the tiramisu. The servers, especially Mirko, are not only friendly, accommodating and incredibly kind but they are spectacular at their job. I can't wait to make this my new go to spot for great Italian food. We sat right by the water several times and it is peaceful yet you are in the hustle and bustle in a great way. We are so fortunate to have a beautiful authentic Italian spot right at the grove.
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Great sit down Italian restaurant to eat in the Grove! I was with some family from out of town who really wanted a sit-down place for the kids and some of them had very strict allergies. The service here was excellent, they found space for all 8 of us inside. The staff was so accommodating and made sure all the food came out according to each person's allergic needs. The food was delicious, warm, and fresh. Portions were pretty big. I had the Amatriciana pasta and a mezcal cocktail. Kids had lots of pizza and salads. Everything looked so great. Huge shoutout to the staff here.
google avatar

Shannon H.

Yelp
This place is so cute! We stumbled upon it while walking out of the grove and grabbed a cocktail. The servers were great and the cocktails & tiramisu were delicious. 10/10 will be back.

JP C.

Yelp
Awesome experience. They offer HH. service and food was delicious . Will be back with friends.

Juliana P.

Yelp
We actually found this restaurant on yelp and we really enjoy going to the grove. I had the lasagna that was recommended by the hostess. She was very sweet and kind. I also loved the service from our waiter. It's a cute little place and I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere. Very good Italian food. My husband had the gnocchi.

Andrea F.

Yelp
I cannot explain how obsessed I am with this place. I discovered Sogno Toscano in NYC and I fell in love- with the pastries, the vibes, the staff, the matcha latte, the schiacciata, ALL OF IT. I was so happy to hear that they are expanding and are now in LA because its like getting a little taste of Italy. The more Sognos, the better! Truly an authentic taste of Italy where their flavors are unique, flavorful, fresh, and subtle. This is my Contadina Schiacciata- a must try!! especially if you are a vegetarian.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Stopped by Sogno Toscano with no expectations and left amazed! We shared the Bufalina and Bologna's sandwiches, both were exceptional! The service was great, Jacome, the manager, was very kind and helpful with our selection of dishes. We will definitely be back!

Karen R.

Yelp
I loved everything about this place. The ambience was romantic and elegant. I'm glad we were there for the grand opening. We had 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and dessert. I love the pesto pasta. My cannoli and the affogato dessert. Our server was very friendly and sweet. Will be back again.
google avatar

Susanne S.

Yelp
Beautiful garden setting. Really attentive service but the burrata salad was especially bland and uninspiring. I will try it again with another dish. We shall see!

Giacomo P.

Yelp
THE Italian place at The Grove! Service never disappoints and, of course best Italian food in the area. Nice and cozy ambiance expecially during Christmas!
google avatar

Gilbert K.

Yelp
This place is just the spot for everything drinks food desert coffee. The menu is amazing and the atmosphere feels like you are in Italy. The staff is very friendly as well

Jonah M.

Yelp
Must visit for lunch or dinner when at the grove! Can't say enough positive things about my experience at Sogno Toscano. I was not expecting much when I sat down here on the lovely outdoor patio area. I was greeted and quickly shown to a table by the lovely staff. The menu is a bit on the pricier side but the quality of ingredients more than justifies this. I highly recommend the octopus and burrata. Cocktail made at the bar was excellent. I finished the meal with the basque cheesecake and cappuccino which also surpassed my expectations.

Darren J.

Yelp
This is now THE best Italian restaurant on my list , period! Food + service + restaurant! My gf and I had a 6pm reservation on Xmas eve We showed up fairly on time but had to wait by the bar for about 20 minutes while the friendly staff cleaned up the best table with a direct view of the gigantic Xmas tree. We also had the romantic grove fountain and the entire Xmas ambience surrounding us. it was absolutely perfect Even though we had to wait a bit for our dishes since it was Xmas eve so it was understandable. A manager by the name of Giacomo was apologetic about the whole wait. He later offered us complementary cocktails, a bottle of wine, an extra dish of fillet mignon and the best chef made cheese cake we ever tasted as a token of apology and appreciation for our patience He was just so kind and attentive throughout the entire dinner experience! !! We ordered the calamari which was super fresh, a creamy pasta dish and an 8oz fillet mignon which hit the spot ! The mashed potato was on point too Simply one of the best Italian dinners we've ever had and the whole night was such an experience to remember! We were grateful for the kind of authentic Italian hospitality Giacomo and his staff brought to the Grove and rest assured that we'll frequent this restaurant in the future to try out the rest of their yummy looking pasta and pizzas! Thanks Giacomo for taking a great care of us! What a great way to end the year and start 2025 Best, Darren

Julia D.

Yelp
It seemed like they put a lot of effort to their interior decoration which was cute, but the service and food really need to be improved. First, the plates that were placed on the tables were dusty and dirty. The water glass was placed facing down on the dusty table, maybe need to put a napkin underneath or a clean tablecloth. The waiter forgot our table which we were sitting on the second floor and we waited for 20-30 minutes and finally had to go down to call the waiter. We got pizza, pasta, salad and everything was just so so, nothing so special or great. Considering the food quality and service, the menu is way too overpriced.

Lauren F.

Yelp
As a full-blooded Sicilian, I have not found any restaurant closer to home than Sogno Toscano. The staff - especially Daniel, David, Elliott, and Jackson - are not only helpful but made me feel so at home here in Los Angeles. Finding this gem at The Grove, which is surrounded by chain restaurants, was so refreshing and truly rewarding. It was a true taste of Italy with the warmth of their people included. My grandmother would be so proud, and I cannot wait to sample the entire delicious menu!

Karen H.

Yelp
Been to their restaurant in Santa Monica numerous times it's excellent and so is this new one at The Grove. The food and wine are very good. The wait staff are attentive, friendly and fast to get your food to your table. Love this place and will definitely be back.
google avatar

Mariana A.

Yelp
I'm so excited about this place! I've visited their other locations before, and now they've just opened at the Grove. If you get the chance to go, I highly recommend trying their amazing tuna crudo and the delicious bufalina scacciatta. It's all so good!

Stefanie I.

Yelp
Elliot is an absolute angel. We had very specific food restriction accommodations and she went above and beyond out of her way to help us. She is so amazing and patient. (They have gluten free pasta here btw!) Simon was very kind and patient as well.

Chalaun M.

Yelp
We had a first class experience, beautiful ambience outside, excellent food, and most importantly Giselle made us feel like VIPs from the moment we called late, and then arrived, even at the extremely crowded Tree Lighting Ceremony at The Grove. We had a wonderful evening out. Thank you so much for being such a gracious host, Giselle!!
google avatar

Erika F.

Yelp
Love the vibe & service. Dylan was so kind & amazing. Will definitely be back! They also have gluten free options

Luke G.

Yelp
The whole team here has done a very incredible job. The drinks and food are as authentic as you can get. Simply delicious and a place I will always come back to.

Mirko I.

Yelp
Great and authentic food and fantastic atmosphere. Very friendly service. Definitely recommend it!

Mali P.

Yelp
The location is beautiful. The food and services is bar none. I had the tomato soup it was delicious. My friend has the butter squash and it was delicious as well !
