Soho House Chooses Culture Over Corporate

"Soho House Mumbai, as it happens, is a little bit of both; set in the glamorous suburb of Juhu, it’s within easy reach of Mumbai’s artists and other creative professionals, even as it stands just yards from the waters of the Arabian Sea." - Mitchell Friedman

Where We’re Dreaming of Traveling Next Year: Women Who Travel Podcast

"You will find me from the airport straight to Soho House in Juhu in Bombay. I love that hotel, love the whole vibe there, and I hear it's still quite the place to be, so I want to be there. Bombay is one of my favorite cities on the planet, so I'm excited to go back there."

The Best New Hotels in the World: 2019 Hot List

"As in other Indian cities that flourished in the days of the British Raj, Mumbai’s old-fashioned club culture is alive and well—across well-heeled generations—in a way that would have made the retired majors of the era scratch their heads in wonderment. But this town has never had an establishment like this before. The familiar Soho House aesthetic (let’s not say formula) works wonderfully here. Nothing has been reinvented: There’s still the same combination of bars, restaurants, theaters, and breakout spaces found in the group’s outposts from London’s White City to West Hollywood. But each Indian twist freshens everything up nicely: the printed textiles in vibrant yellows and reds; the locally sourced wicker-ware and hand-made furniture. Some may gripe about the location, in an 11-story, Art Deco–style tower beside Juhu Beach, not far from the airport. But the fact is that the city’s creative center is shifting northward, and this is now the place to be. It’s a bejeweled stone’s throw from Bollywood. Time will tell how enthusiastically membership is taken up, but you can’t help thinking that Nick Jones has once again gotten it spot-on. FLASH POINT In a departure from Soho House tradition, the Big rooms here are indeed really big, and the ones to book. +91 22-6213-3333; sohohousemumbai.com. Doubles from about $230." - CNT Editors

Had such a lovely and comfortable brunch experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting—perfect for a laid-back morning. The seating was cozy, with plenty of natural light and just the right level of background music. The food was fresh and delicious, with a great variety of options to choose from. Coffee was on point, and the service was friendly without being intrusive. It was the kind of place where you can take your time, relax, and really enjoy the moment. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Visited Soho House Mumbai and really enjoyed the food — everything was well-prepared and flavorful. The ambiance is stylish and the setting is perfect for a relaxed meal.||However, the experience was let down by the staff. Their behavior came across as inattentive and at times dismissive, which took away from the overall experience. For a place that prides itself on exclusivity and service, I expected more professionalism and warmth.

A wonderful experience - an oasis of calm, north of the city (an easy ride from the airport), but right on the best beach in the area (although it’s not spotlessly clean). The hotel itself offers lovely rooms, we had balconies overlooking the sea - although, as usual in Soho House the lights were a bit gloomy. Gym was good with view of the beach, but could have been a bit cooler. The place is buzzing and busy on Friday and Saturday night. Food and drink was excellent as always with good Indian and international options. Margaritas and Mojitos were a solid 4. The club room is much more relaxing than the roof, which is a shame.

Perfect 5 night stay in Mumbai. Beautiful decor, mostly very friendly service, relaxing rooftop pool with cabanas however food on floors 8-10 was standout. Absolutely incredible local dishes mixed with international - huge variety and top quality.

Soho House Mumbai is one of the most exceptional hotels I've ever stayed in. A small sea-view room (Room 19) was surprisingly spacious, with windows on two sides that opened onto an unexpected private terrace. The panoramic views along Juhu Beach, especially at sunset, were spectacular.||The bed, bedding, and pillows were phenomenal—like sleeping on a cloud. The room itself was so inviting, spotlessly clean and comfortable that, had Mumbai not been such an exciting city, I would have happily spent more time simply enjoying the space. Early morning dips in the small rooftop pool were a treat, especially since I often had it all to myself.||Yes, the nearby aircraft can be noisy, and if I had been staying for more than four nights, it might have become a nuisance—but it never disrupted my sleep nor did the night club. The breakfasts (not included) were delicious, and the fresh lime sodas were the best. An impressively curated drinks tray & mini bar awaits you in the room, though the prices are eye-wateringly high. On the plus side, there’s a Nespresso machine with an abundance of capsules, a thoughtful selection of teas, and a tin of chocolate chip cookies that—dangerously—gets regularly refilled!||If I had to point out a flaw, it would be the reception service. I had to request a lightbulb replacement for the dim bathroom three times before it was finally addressed—they admitted they kept forgetting, which isn’t acceptable given the room rates. Additionally, we emailed reception ahead of arrival asking for assistance securing a table at Tresind. While they replied promptly, promising to follow up, we never heard back, and nothing was mentioned when we arrived.||Despite these minor hiccups, the overall experience was FAB. If you're looking for a stylish retreat with stunning views and exceptional comfort, Soho House Mumbai is hard to beat. Easy to get to and from the airport but an hour to anywhere else - but always lots to see on your Uber journey.

Very poor quality and service .We went last evening for a meeting followed by dinner. They ran out of prawns in the prawn curry cold rotis…and waiters saying things like ‘kitchen se aana hai time toh lagega. And nothing happened for another half an hour so guests left with great disappointment and frustration after all the hype about the exclusivity etc. There was no one to take care of senior guests food requests, food area so poorly lit up that we had to use our phone torches to make sense. Big disappointment and terrible experience. It’s not really SOHO it’s more OH HO (face palm)

Stayed here for two nights. The service and attitude of staff is the terrible, the worst I’ve experienced in my trip to India. They treat you like you should be grateful to be there and they are doing you a favour. Also the facilities are pathetic, the pool is tiny and there are hardly any subbed around. Avoid staying there and book a proper 5* hotel nearby as there are plenty to choose from.

An excellent stay at this delightful outpost, which enjoys all of the greatly loved hallmarks of the brand, as well as a rather nice beachside setting. It occupies a handsome, 11 storey townhouse, and with just 38 bedrooms, is a chic, boutique experience. I really liked my ‘small’ room, which was actually quite spacious compared to that category in most other SH hotels. It had a dinky, little balcony too. |Expect the usual supremely comfy SH bed, super charged shower, fab array of Cowshed products and stocked-to-the brim mini bar. |I adored both club lounges. The rooftop bar/lounge extends out from the cutesy pool area, which rocks a mini-Miami vibe with its jaunty, striped awnings and terrific views. A floor below, the other lounge has an English country manor style, and again, is totally gorgeous. Food was superb in both lounges, the menu offer a combo of Mexican and Indian dishes. Ditto the delicious cocktails and impeccable service. I also dined in the ground floor, beach-fronting ‘Cecconi’s, and whilst food and service didn’t hit the heights experienced in the guest lounges, it is well worth a visit as the setting is so lovely, particularly if seated outside. I stayed at hotels in Colaba for most of my trip, booking Soho House for my final night because of its close proximity to the airport. You can get there within 20 minutes, all being well, whereas it’s an unpredictable 60 minute+ schlep from Colaba. Conversely, SH is a bit of a trek if you’re visiting the main tourist sights further south - though you’re closer to trendy Bandra, and the Bollywood studios. Talking airports - SH is under the flight path and I could certainly hear planes overhead whilst dining outside at Cecconi’s, but the noise didn’t bother me unduly from the bedroom.
