An excellent stay at this delightful outpost, which enjoys all of the greatly loved hallmarks of the brand, as well as a rather nice beachside setting. It occupies a handsome, 11 storey townhouse, and with just 38 bedrooms, is a chic, boutique experience. I really liked my ‘small’ room, which was actually quite spacious compared to that category in most other SH hotels. It had a dinky, little balcony too. |Expect the usual supremely comfy SH bed, super charged shower, fab array of Cowshed products and stocked-to-the brim mini bar. |I adored both club lounges. The rooftop bar/lounge extends out from the cutesy pool area, which rocks a mini-Miami vibe with its jaunty, striped awnings and terrific views. A floor below, the other lounge has an English country manor style, and again, is totally gorgeous. Food was superb in both lounges, the menu offer a combo of Mexican and Indian dishes. Ditto the delicious cocktails and impeccable service. I also dined in the ground floor, beach-fronting ‘Cecconi’s, and whilst food and service didn’t hit the heights experienced in the guest lounges, it is well worth a visit as the setting is so lovely, particularly if seated outside. I stayed at hotels in Colaba for most of my trip, booking Soho House for my final night because of its close proximity to the airport. You can get there within 20 minutes, all being well, whereas it’s an unpredictable 60 minute+ schlep from Colaba. Conversely, SH is a bit of a trek if you’re visiting the main tourist sights further south - though you’re closer to trendy Bandra, and the Bollywood studios. Talking airports - SH is under the flight path and I could certainly hear planes overhead whilst dining outside at Cecconi’s, but the noise didn’t bother me unduly from the bedroom.
