Where to Eat and Drink in Rockridge | Eater SF

"Named after the narrow side streets that make up the city of Bangkok, this chic, modern restaurant serves an extensive menu of elevated Thai classics (think pad Thai, pad see ew, and kao soi) in addition to many more unique dishes, such as the kieow wan talay, squid, shrimp, salmon, eggplant, and zucchini in basil green curry or the panange neur, braised bone-in beef short ribs in Makrut lime leaf curry." - Clara Hogan

Had a lovely dinner at Thai restaurant Soi 4. We started with their Kirimaya cocktail (Knob Creek, orange bitters & lemongrass syrup). For appetizers we had baked green mussels, mustard leaf rolls, and a cucumber salad. For main courses, the shrimp & eggplant stir fry, and the pan-roasted sole with mango, ginger and fried brussel sprouts. The food was very good but I believe the sole was actually flounder.

Five stars are not enough! If you’re looking for a place where food excellence and outstanding service come together, this is it! My girlfriend and I decided to visit after we admired the beautiful setting a month ago. Fast forward to today, and we finally got to experience the food. The teamwork at this restaurant is a well-orchestrated effort. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our drinks were ready in no time. I had the Numi Tea, while my date ordered the Thai Tea. Although the tea was wonderful, it was just a prelude to the amazing meal that followed. I ordered Miang Kum with tofu substituted for shrimp, but I can’t imagine it could have been any more flavorful. We sat there, amazed, trying to savor every bite. We’re already looking forward to coming back for the Chicken Satay, Choo Chee Salmon, Gai Gra Prow, and Coconut Rice!

Google
What an amazing thai dinner! Food-wise, flavours were heavenly good and the food were well cooked in big portions. My boyfriend and I ordered the corn cakes, fried catfish and pan roasted fish plate. They all were amazing with rich and authentic Thai flavours and the sides were equally amazing. Staff there were super friendly and the interior of the restaurant was nice as well. So overall, we had a wonderful dinner there and will definitely go back for other dishes!

Google
I love this place, but they keep letting weird service moments spoil the meal. I’m respectfully sharing my feedback because I think they just need some tweaks. With delivery (twice), they’ve either sent the wrong item or left out things like the protein (happened today and I can’t get a refund). Last time I dined there two weeks ago, my server was busy but brought every single item slightly different than I ordered and brought the salad at the very end of the meal. The food is great and the aesthetic is so cute in the best neighborhood, but they need to tighten up a little.

We love coming here for their Happy Hour, which is 4:30-6:00 everyday. We are able to get enough food (and drink) that ends up being enough for a whole meal. We talk to the waiter to find which items are on the Happy Hour Menu, and go from there. Tonight we had four appetizers that we shared. And we each had an alcoholic drink. Our bill was $52 before tax and tip, and we had plenty!

Google
We enjoyed our time at Soi. Initially we had an ' unfriendly' server but she moved on and things improved! The food was tasty. We noticed after we left additional charges on our bill .. related to who knows... Bill, + tax + service charge +? We spent over $100 in our 2 hours for 2 people.

Google
Wow! The daily line-caught fish dish is a great surprise!! The Brussels sprouts, papaya salad and roti were also very good! (Coconut soup is a little too sweet, mango sticky rice is ok) but I would 100% return just for their fish dishes! Definitely our one of best Thai food restaurants in the bay area now!

My favorite Thai restaurant in Bay Area! The mix seafood curry and grape salad are my favorite dishes, highly recommended!

Yelp
Been here a few times but writing a review for a very lovely catered event for a friend who booked the second floor for a graduation dinner event. I had no idea this restaurant offered that service, but it was certainly very lovely! The curries and appetizers were delicious with robust flavors. The cocktails were also adorable and tasty. Service was fantastic and I heard from our host that the staff worked with him to create a custom menu for the guests. Really warm vibes, just a bit TOO warm/hot temperature-wise upstairs during a May evening. They also allowed our host to bring in drinks. Husband's review: "Spicy, flavorful, and drinks were good."

Yelp
Our meal was good but it didn't blow our mind. We got the papaya salad mild which still was a bit spicy (I have a medium tolerance) so I'd be careful! Pineapple fried rice was very very delicious and our favorite. The mango sticky rice needed way more cream sauce and unimpressive. The ambience and decor are beautiful, and so was the service. Would be down to try again!

Yelp
Went to this restaurant with some homies in Oakland, and damn was I surprised. The food was authentic! Some of my friends are vegan and vegetarian, and this restaurant has plenty of options for y'all! They ordered vegan pad Thai, vegan curry, veg curry, and eggplant, and it was all delicious even without the animal products. However, I do love me some meat and seafood so I ordered the duck curry and crab fried rice. Boy oh boy it was schmackin! The curry had a nice blend of spice, richness, and fat from the duck. The curry beautifully added bok choy, pineapple, and cherry tomatoes with green onion. although the crab is never enough, it is was delicious. We didn't try the drinks but the restaurant is very cute and situated in the heart of Rockridge. Check it out!

Yelp
Service was very attentive and our waters were never empty! All the food was very tasty. We let the roti sit a little too long so the texture was off, but I put that one on us. I asked for my pad kee mao extra spicy and they delivered! We will be back next time we are in town.

Yelp
I think it's about time I leave a review for Soi 4. This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant of all time and I've been to a LOT of Thai restaurants. The food is so authentic and delicious, the service is good, and it's always pretty easy to get a table. I've tried quite a few items on the menu and every single one was amazing. There is truly no other restaurant that compares. I'm obsessed with this place!!! If you live in the Bay Area you HAVE to come here.

Yelp
Rock solid! Interesting picks and memorable dishes. I particularly enjoyed the tom kha soup and the miang kum - would absolutely come back for those. Meanwhile, the curry dishes and dumplings were less memorable. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall still a great spot for a fun dinner!

Yelp
Excellent spot for happy hour on college. We order some drinks and appetizers for their happy hour deal, as well as the pork coconut curry. Great deal on food and drinks and we left feeling full (and a bit tipsy). My favorite of the apps was definitely the taro cakes! I honestly didn't know what to expect, but the taro pieces were crispy and flavorful, the bean sprouts added a freshness, and the sweet and sour sauce was a nice addition as well. Pork curry was flavorful with a generous portion of soft kabocha squash, and the meat was tender.

Yelp
We ordered the following for delivery: Yum Plamuk -- it was very good, ordered extra spicy and it WAS (!) Tom Yum -- flavor was pretty good, but it was and unappetizing brown color Giow Tod -- the dumplings were okay but we would've preferred a more traditional vinegar/chili/soy dipping sauce Pad Se-ew -- the dish was very dry, not enough sauce and the chicken was dry and overcooked Gai Gra Prow -- we ordered it with steak, and while the flavor was very good, the pieces were too big and chewy Hoi Rad Gaeng -- the curry sauce was delicious and flavorful and the greens were good in it, especially the snap peas (!) but the scallops weren't that fresh and were overcooked. Conclusion: some good flavors but for this price we expected way better quality.

Yelp
Very good Thai restaurant in Oakland great neighborhood..! A small place, there are 2 floors, bar is on the first floor. The 2nd floor is more quiet and more private. The special Lemongrass salmon ceviche in wonton shell comes in 4 pcs, very delicious! The shrimps in the Wok Fried Shrimp & Eggplant are smoky, very tasty. Drinks selection are great, service was friendly. There are a plenty food selection, I really want to come back to try more !

Yelp
Wow! First of all, this place is cute as hell. Cozy, small, but still classy. The pad se ew honestly changed my life. I usually get chicken pad se ew at most Thai places. But to try it with pork fat and crispy pork pieces?? My life was changed. I may never be able to go back to ordering chicken again. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the prices were fair for bay area food, and the staff were nice. A+

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night and there was no wait. We got the tom kha, pad kee mao, and mango sticky rice. The tom kha was good but not the best I had. The pad kee mao could have been a bit more saucy and spicy but I did like the flavors. The mango sticky rice was also good. Service was solid. Overall I may return if I'm in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way for it since there's so much other good Thai food in the east bay.

Yelp
Food is really good, ginger vodka drink was really good. For the price I wish the portions were more but I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Without a doubt, Soi 4 is the best Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is constantly fresh and tasty, the restaurant offers dishes that can be found elsewhere and are the best in class offerings of both traditional Thai dishes as well as their own twists. Service is great, full bar and excellent wine selection. I have never had a disappointing meal in the dozen years that we have been eating at Soi 4. Great place for business lunches, dinners, and for family and intimate conversation. I normally take pictures of the food, but it was sooo good I ate it before getting my iphone out...next time....!

Yelp
I didn't find the food particularly authentic, but if you are looking for a nice ambience it's a good spot! Service was pretty attentive. We had papaya salad, fried calamari, green seafood curry, vegetable red curry, and this stirfried meat dish (sorry, forgot what it was). Papaya salad was fresh, but not as spicy or fishy as other papaya salads I've had. Calamari was very crisp, but strangely the batter was very sweet. Green seafood curry was great! Loved the vegetables in the red curry, but it was also on the sweet side. Stirfry wasn't very spicy Overall, the flavors were too sweet and simultaneously mild for my tastes - I probably wouldn't come again, but it's a nice restaurant to check out in the area.

Yelp
The food was truly delicious and service excellent. I loved the combination of fresh ingredients perfectly flavored. The restaurant is also very pleasant and the owner spoke with us about the regional differences of various dishes.

Yelp
I have a distant memory of seeing this Oakland Thai restaurant on an episode of "Check, Please! Bay Area" even before I was on the show talking about my favorite, now defunct Vietnamese spot. So with little trepidation, I decided to acquaint myself with their food by ordering a trio of their dishes through Door Dash. The pandemic has forced us to a new normal when it comes to dining experiences, and it has nothing to do with how evocative the decor is or how soothing the music is over the muzak. I was just in the mood for something Southeast Asian, and this place looked promising. Promise fulfilled as I wasn't disappointed with what arrived on my doorstep...literally. First, their fresh spring roll was the $9.95 Paupia Yuan which came stuffed with fresh shrimp and accompanied by a dipping sauce with crushed nuts and sweet chili (photo: https://bit.ly/30Fz16h). Just what I wanted with plenty of crunchy freshness. The $13.95 Pad Tofu was an unusually tasty treat. The dish was a mix of whole cashews, mushrooms, scallions, and a sweet jam made of roasted chilis anchored by grilled tofu wedges (photo: https://bit.ly/3HsHESa). The last dish was the $16.95 Yum Makuer Yao, which was a grilled eggplant salad with boiled shrimp and a mound of ground chicken drizzled with a tangy lime-coconut dressing (photo: https://bit.ly/3nupLdJ). It was a hearty serving and quite good. The execution was just unique enough to make me try their specialties in their space. I have my vaccination card. I'm ready. FOOD - 4 stars...pleasant surprises among the Thai dishes I tried from here AMBIANCE - n/a...you're asking me? SERVICE - 4 stars...everything was well packed and on time TOTAL - 4 stars...really interesting takes on common dishes like pad tofu and grilled eggplant salad RELATED - In the mood for Thai? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2GPTCYK

Yelp
Super delicious food and many of the dishes like the pad Thai could be made vegan which is a huge plus! The vegetable yellow curry was amazing and the portions were big enough to have leftovers. The staff are really friendly and attentive, and it can look fancy but is super casual.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try as we love Thai food. Since we have had Kao Soi while in Chiang Mai, we definitely wanted to have it again. It was such a let down. The noodles were alright and they give a very generous amount of chicken, BUT the main part of the dish, the sauce/soup is terrible. It was SO salty that we didn't even use half for the meal. The saltiness overpowered the rich flavor that the soup/sauce should have been so it was far from what we've had in Chiang Mai. You may say that we shouldn't compare since that's Chiang Mai and this is Oakland, but we've had good Kao Soi in Oakland as well (see my reviews if you want to know where). What was the redeeming thing of our dinner is the Pad Se Ew and Pad Ke Mao. They were good, having the slight smoky flavor from high heat stir fry.

Yelp
Went there for happy hour. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The service is impeccable, good ambiance.

Yelp
Delicious food with distinctly different flavors dish by dish. Patient waitstaff. Efficient service on a weeknight. Most liked corn cakes and lettuce wraps. Salmon was dry. Scallops were ok, on a generous bed of greens. Cuke salad refreshing.

Yelp
Went here recently with some friends. We ordered family style. For starters we went with the roti and curry, crispy vegetable rolls, and Thai spiced corn cakes. They were quite alright. For the main course we split the charred vegetable curry and garlicky chili eggplant with a side of brown rice. Good flavor. Not too spicy. Overall solid enjoyable meal with good service. We had an enjoyable dinner here.

Yelp
Came here for an impromptu dinner date a few weeks ago. It was rainy outside so we were super happy to stumble here and see that they still had some tables open! The indoor area is super cute, with lots of seating, cute pillows and decor and a great bar space (perf for an evening out by yourself for drinks and snacks). We decided to order the salmon tataki for an app - seemed like a special and sounded really tasty, and then we ordered the pork red curry and crab fried rice for mains. The tataki took a little while to come out, but it was well worth the wait. The fish was super fresh and so tasty, and it came with wontons as well. The crab fried rice was generally just okay - I think it needed a little bit more zing or flavor, although they were really generous with the amount of crab in there which was nice. The curry was absolutely amazing - the meat was fall off the bone tender, and the squash in there added some nice textural contrast. Would definitely go back and order this again and again. Service was really nice and a good vibe in there overall!

Yelp
Loved this little gem! I'm always in the neighborhood and I tend to visit the restaurant across the street quite often. However this time around one of my colleagues Suggested this little gem. I am so glad they did! First off I love the atmosphere very inviting, Open, and modern. The staff seemed attentive in the restaurant was clean. We started off with a couple of appetizers: Roti and curry - not what I expected, but I loved the change too! Very flavorful and with veggie toppings. This was new for me. Mussels- I wish it came with more!!! It was sooo tasty. Creamy and filled with goodness! I will say, the price point is a bit high on this given what it is. Then we rolled on the the entrees: Gai gra prow - yummy chicken! I will say it wasn't spicy at all (even thought it says it is). I love the mix vegetables inside the green beans really give it a good crunch. Panang- braised bone in beef. While this is very tender I think I need to be braised just a little bit longer as it was a little chewy which is not common for a braised bone beef Thai dish. Although the sweetness flowed well with the curry dish. Hoi rad gaeng- japanese scallops! I personally LOVE Japanese scallops! Well I typically would not order Japanese food in a thai restaurant I can't say no to large scallops. I am at least grateful it did not disappoint. The scallops were cooked perfectly and soaked up the coconut curry well! I would definitely order this again.

Yelp
Order: - Salt & pepper fried calamari (4.5/5) - Thai spiced corn cakes (4/5) - Baked mussels (5/5) - Roti & curry (5/5) - Pad ke mao (4/5) - Pineapple duck fried rice (4/5) - Papaya salad (4/5) - Seafood curry (4/5) - Mango sticky rice (3.5/5) - Warm berries & ice cream (4/5) Pros: - Aesthetic decor and nice atmosphere - Great service; servers were super kind - Yummy food for reasonable price Cons: - Food was lacking spice and "kick" even though it's Thai cuisine and was rather mostly sweet. Overall: Came across this place on a Friday evening to have a celebratory dinner with my family and we were seated immediately. I've definitely had better Thai food but the food here was still great and felt somewhat "fancier". I would definitely come again to try their other appetizers and soups.

Yelp
This place will always hold a sweet spot in my heart. My hubby and I had our second date here in 2007! Can't believe I haven't reviewed sooner. The food is always good. The wait staff is ALWAYS on point. Reservations are encouraged during peak time but we always seem to get our fav table upstairs. Decor is dark and moody perfect for a date night at our fav local spot. This place is a staple in our family. Hope to come here for years to come.

Yelp
Stopped in during Oakland Restaurant Week to try their special menu. It was a nice day out and they have big windows that were open. The space is really airy and calm. Love the decor. They also have a full bar! For lunch, I had salmon tataki, braised oxtails, and ice cream with berries and lemonade. The lemonade was tart and tangy (my favorite), the salmon tataki was a bit spicy but the sweet sauce balanced it out nicely, and the oxtails were PERFECT. yep, you read that right. PERFECT. Savory, sweet, with the perfect amount of spice. There was a little more fat than I liked but the serving size was just right. For dessert, the berries were warm and I smelled them before they got to the table. The ice cream was nice and firm... a very pleasant end to the meal. Can't wait to go back and try their normal menu!!

Yelp
Came here for takeout on a saturday night. Ordered online and came for pickup. Our order was ready in 30 to 35 minutes which was a plus as we were hungry. My party of 4 ordered the noodles and rice options which we all thought tasted pretty decent. I ordered the pad kee mao or drunken noodles which I thought could have used a little more flavor but overall okay dish. My friend ordered the crab fried rice which had a pretty large portion. Another ordered the pad sew ew which again was your standard sweet that noodle dish which some veggies. He also though his dish was just okay tasting. Lastly we ordered a yellow curry over noodles which banked on the salty side. Overall we thought it was just an okay spot for some dinner. However we only had the chance to try some noodle and rice dishes. Would love to come back and try other dishes as other reviews and pictures make it look delicious.

Yelp
Food on the last two visits has been mediocre. Best. Will probably not return. The service was cordial but not very attentive. The restaurant surprisingly was half empty. At least.

Yelp
Soi 4 has a truly unique Thai menu. There are many appetizers and mains that you won't find at any other Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. Miang Kum (fresh cut mustard leaf wrap of roasted coconut, prawns, pomelo, herbs, & sweet palm) and Yum Som-O (grapefruit salad with mint, cilantro, shallots, cashew nuts, and roasted coconut) are just a couple of examples. And that amazing menu is why I trudged over from The City to Oakland on a rainy Sunday. 5/5 for the fantastic menu and for offering great Thai dishes that are normally so hard to find. The food itself didn't hit the mark though. Let me be specific... Keow Wan Roti - 5/5 Miang Kum - 3/5 (the base ingredients were great and authentic but it was ruined by the use of too much syrupy sweet molasses on top!) Kao Pode Tod - 4/5 (should be thinner and more crispy but tasty nevertheless) Yum Som-O - 3/5 (I know it's supposed to be a fusion take on the original but they are skipping some essential ingredients ... if you closed your eyes and had a bite you wouldn't even know this was a Thai salad) Kua Kling Mu - 4/5 (It's awesome that they offer this dish.. I asked for it to be Thai spicy and they obliged. There is however this overwhelmingly sweet base on everything they make that was still tucked under the spice and if I go back I would ask them to just not add that.) Tua Pik Khing - 1/5 (This should be made with a red curry base... the string beans were cooked well but the base sauce was just completely insipid and watery. This is a Thai staple that they completely botched. And once again... that overly sweet syrup needs to go!) Gai Gra Prow - 4/5 (Perhaps THE litmus test when it comes to Thai restaurants... this was a solid 4/5. No complaints. Not sure why they don't offer it with minced pork which is very common at other Thai restaurants and of course in Thailand as well.) Overall I loved their unique menu but the overuse of a very sweet syrup in many dishes unfortunately ruined what were otherwise well prepared items. I might give it one more try and see what it's like if I proactively ask them to skip the sugar factor. I do want to go back for the Jungle Curry which I have been looking for all over the Bay Area without any luck.

Yelp
Just had another yummy dinner at Soi 4 , I have been coming since 2001 ordering The baked mussels and turnip cakes . I had the satay skewers and spicy shrimp soup also . It's as delicious as it was in 2001. I recommend this restaurant to all my clients, I own a hair salon close by , Arellanosalon.com Is the best eatery in College ave in oakland .

Yelp
Soi 4 hosted a work lunch for about 20 of us, and they killed it. The food was great-- everyone thought so. And the staff was all super friendly and helpful. And the food was timely. Thank you , Soi 4. Bravo.

Stephen G.

Yelp
We enjoyed coming here for a significant family celebration. The food is unusual, with few of the Thai restaurant "standardsand is very good. The drinks are good, but definitely could be better. The prices are a bit higher than your neighborhood Thai restaurant.

Julian S.

Yelp
One of the best Thai places in the east bay. The food is very well prepared, and they will make it as spicy as you like. Friendly service in a nice setting. It's one of my favorites.

Yelp
Tonight our friend Haig came over to play Scrabble w/ Alan, bringing dinner from Soi 4 for the three of us to eat beforehand. This was a last minute switch from Royal Rangoon, where we had planned for him to pick up dinner until he discovered they were closed today. He and Alan discussed a revised menu, starting w/ corn cakes, eggplant stuffed w/ chicken in a green curry, duck breast in a red curry (for Haig and me, since Alan doesn't like duck), seafood in green curry, shrimp and eggplant and pad Thai w/ shrimp. We got a double order of brown rice to soak up the sauces. It was a lot of food and we have leftovers. The guys didn't care for the corn cakes. I thought they were OK. Everything else was fabulous, each dish interesting, flavorful and unique. The pad Thai was perhaps the best Alan and I have had, w/ a lovely, subtle tamarind flavor and scarcely any sweetness. Of the other dishes there wasn't one we didn't enjoy. The duck was marvelous, as was the seafood curry and we all enjoyed the eggplant wrapped chicken. The shrimp and eggplant was less saucy, but no less delicious. It was a real treat and a revelation.

Matt P.

Yelp
One of the best happy hours in town. The Miang Kam (mustard leaves with sweet/sour/crunchy deliciousness) is superb, baked mussels are excellent, the pad see ew is wonderful. The pork wontons w bok choy and blue crab has the best broth. Lichee/Pear and mezcal cocktails are excellent. There's nobody here and that is inexplicable.

Ruby G.

Yelp
I used to come here often for many years before the pandemic hit and I stopped going to restaurants. The food was always fantastic and unusual - fresh and full of dishes I'd not seen at Thai restaurants before. The service was always warm and helpful and the martinis splendid. I miss it. I hope to return to restaurants someday when the Covid variants aren't as contagious. In the meanwhile, I ordered their Larb Gai through DoorDash (pictured) and it was just as stunning as I remember it. Lettuce is fresh, crisp and flavorful (amazing for iceberg!), all the super fresh ingredients combine together to create a perfect umami moment in your mouth with every forkful. The fresh ginger, heat, lime juice, mint, chicken and whatever other magic is in this dish were so good, I literally licked the plate when I was done. Well, there's one thing that's better done at home than in a restaurant. Seriously, though, never had better larb gai anywhere. One last thing - as they always did in the restaurant, the staff got my special requests 100% correct (can't do onions, etc - so asked for a couple things to be left out). Extra bonus points for paying attention!

Yelp
Excellent lunch! Nice wines by the glass. Large menu. Great service. I loved the grapefruit salad.

Kay G.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to eating here. Initially the staff were very attentive but once their 12 tables were full - the staff of 6 people dropped the ball. It was frustrating. But the reason for the two stars was how deeply disappointing the food was. We made the mistake of ordering an array of small plates and a salad. Every dish was deep fried, greasy, flavorless and much too sweet. I barely ate any of the food as it was not nice. Along with that our bill was $115 for two people which included only 1 cocktail. The combination of unappetizing over priced food and a struggling staff but will not bring me back.

Yelp
One of the BEST dining experiences. Wait personal we're so attentive, informative & pleasant. Food arrived quickly, served hot & each selection exquisite, delicate flavors, generous portions. Definitely 10 Stars!

Yelp
Crab fried rice is great! Ambiance is pleasant, very high ceiling, airy. Service is attentive.

Yelp
Listen. Go to here. Order turnip cakes. And lamb. You're welcome.
google avatar

Yelp
Don't get their pad kee Mao. It's the blandest I've had and devoid of veggies except for 2.5 cherry tomatoes and some basil. Their turnip cake is pretty good as other reviewers say though. I'd come back for it and try other items on the menu. Lemongrass chicken was also kinda on a bland side, but I loved that even with takeout they included a coconut tapioca dessert! Anyways, I'd come back with some reservations. Did I mention don't get the pad kee mao?

Yelp
The best Thai food I've had in a very long time! And it's a beautiful space with excellent service.

Yelp
Stellar flavors! Loved the sea bass with tamarind sauce and mango salsa (had a side of fried Brussels sprouts). Together, they made a melody that had my tastebuds dancing. This place is sophisticated, not in a stuffy way but they have a heightened flavor profile that is not all sweet and hot. The atmosphere is warm and calming, made even better with interesting drinks and delicious tea. Tip: ask them to preheat the tea pot to keep the tea hot. I had the roti and curry sauce that was good but eat it hot! I really enjoyed the crispy rice and Lao sausage salad. I love eating with my hands and you pick up a leaf of lettuce and fill with the crunchy salad. Super service and nice portions.

Yelp
Great food, I would actually say one of the top best Thai places I've eaten in the Bay Area. They position themselves as somewhat of a high-end restaurant with the prices, and they do have wonderful service, friendly waiters and a high-tech solution to payment but yet again, and I'm so tired of writing this- Decor matters! Can I start a movement for business owners taking my advice and decorating their places a little bit? It doesn't take that much effort, especially in the bay area with so many blooming flowers and ease of access to decorative elements and creative artists. Just sitting behind a dirty white divider on a wooden bench and paying $60 for a meal is really disheartening. I don't know about others but if you're paying so much money for food, you don't want to enjoy just food, you want to enjoy a nice atmosphere and a wholesome experience with people and actually enjoy sitting there, I did not.

Yelp
We ordered three dishes to try, and they did not disappoint. All maintained a crispiness in the vegetables ... no sogginess even with the sauces. All very tasty! I especially appreciate the environment. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The windows were able to stay wide open which allowed for airy space, so we felt safe to sit inside. The staff was attentive throughout the meal.

Yelp
I'm sad to write this review, as I've gotten delivery from them many times and it's been consistently good, until today. Today was consistently bad across the board. Like I need to ask if they did a wholesale change to their cooking staff. Papaya salad (Som tom) was flavorless. Lots of papaya, but no flavor. Someone forgot the fish sauce maybe? Chicken larb (larb gai) was undersalted and underseasoned. Someone forgot the salt maybe and crushed rice powder maybe? Pumpkin curry was runny as my kitchen faucet. Not sure what happened. I've loved this place, and hope that maybe the chef is just on vacation? Please come back? Thanksss :) Will update after my next order.

Yelp
There was a private event with an operatic singer during our visit! Our fave were the wonton with crab and the roadside pork. We ordered chicken satay, mussels, roadside pork and wonton with crab for appetizers and we should have not ordered the main dishes (beef cubes and papaya salad). We were sooo satisfied and full with the appetizers alone. Friendly staff, nice place and great crowd!

Yelp
Extremely bad experience, very rude server. There were flies in the restaurant hovering over my head and when I asked the server to take care of it since it's not a pleasant experience sitting indoors, her response was 'what do you want me to do?' And then she justified that by saying that the door is open and hence its natural to have flies in the restaurant. And while I was talking to her, she just walked away. I understand that it was a busy time and she was overworked but the arrogance and illogical response and behavior was not appreciated. I enjoy the food, it Soi4 just lost a customer.
