Good quality thai/Burmese inspired food.. our server ( Tou?) was super kind and attentive.. we got Holy spicy basil and Khai Soi per his recommendation and both were delicious. We'll be back when in OB

Soi OB delivered exactly that. The moment we stepped inside, the aroma of sizzling spices and freshly cooked meats was enough to confirm we had made the right choice. With so many tempting options on the menu, we decided to start with a few dishes that promised both crunch and rich flavor. Spicy Chicken Wings – These golden crispy wings offered a perfect balance of heat and flavor. The crunch is satisfying, and the sauce packs a punch without overwhelming the palate Thai Crispy Chicken Wings – these wings are fried to perfection, served with a house sweet sauce that enhances their savory goodness. I've been searching for moo ping like the kind I had in Bangkok, Thailand, and that search ended here! The moo ping transported me back to the moment I tasted that sweet smoked pork hot off the street food grill. We also tried the fried tofu; It was nice and crispy. The Holy Basil pork dish was super savory and flavorful. The tom yum noodles were delicious as well. But the absolute winner was the moo ping. I'll be coming back for that often! This restaurant is an order and sit counter, so do not expect anyone to come get your order! Bonus: Great parking!

Quality has dropped with new management. Avoid the Ginger Fish! Garlic pepper with roast pork was good. The white rice with both meals could use a side sauce.

Came across this spot from Yelp & decided to try it for dinner (dine in). Their service is so good. The food came out so quickly for a party of 3. We had ordered: Crying Tiger, Tom Kha & Pineapple Fried Rice It hit the spot! They definitely don't skimp out on the protein & veggies & prices were fair. They have a few tables inside for dine in. Parking is all street parking.

I'm don't usually write reviews, but this experience merits one. Here's what happened: 1. I tried to call them to place an order for pickup, but it went straight to voicemail. For 30 min straight. I finally drove over there, and called them while there. Straight to voicemail. They don't know what's wrong. Not that big of a deal, I can wait. 2. I ordered the house fried rice with beef and an extra fried egg on top. I was given the holy basil fried rice, with no egg. Luckily I checked before leaving, returned it, and they re-made what I ordered. 3. They gave me my food and I went home. The fried egg was on top as requested. I get home and open it up, mix the egg in and notice that there is hardly any beef. So little that I picked out the 7 tiny pieces and weighed them. It was 1.68 oz. OZ's! There was almost no meat. I was going to let it go, and took a bite, but it was all just mush. Hardly edible. I decided to drive back and ask for either another replacement, or my money back. They offered to replace it, and were very kind. I kept my cool and was polite as well. 4. The replacement: hands down the WORST fried rice I have ever eaten in my life. I am not exaggerating. And they forgot the fried egg. The meat was super chewy. The rice wasn't cooked right, very hard. The purpose of this review is for both the business to get their act together, and a MAJOR WARNING to customers; check your order before you leave if you are getting pickup. They rarely get my order right (my friend has found this to be true for her as well), and now the quality is down the tubes. I'm quite disappointed in Soi O.B. I will not be returning there. I hope you guys get your act together, I used to love getting food from you guys!

So confused because my long-time, trusted acquaintance absolutely loves this place. Ordered their Pad Thai and it literally tasted like nothing. I think it was just tossed in oil?? Very disappointed

Teeny tiny place in OB, I haven't been here in a few years. We were in the area so I thought we'd pick up something for dinner. I couldn't recall not liking it... it's been that long. We ordered the following items - Fried pork belly appetizer- this was almost inedible. It was overcooked and very chewy. We didn't finish this. - Pad Thai with chicken - I usually like pad Thai, but the noodles were very gummy. It was not pleasant trying to eat this. - Thai basil fried rice with chicken - simple, nothing crazy, it was very plain tasting. The chicken throughout the dishes were very dry and overcooked. - Thai tea - I like this, but that was it. Sadly I didn't recall my previous experience eating here before our last visit and save myself a bad meal. :( Not going to forget this time! Staff was nice tho. Maybe the kitchen was having an off night. Maybe I'll try again in a few years. 2025: 18

This little hole-in-the-wall wasn't even on my radar until I found it on Yelp. Quite tasty! The woman at the counter who greeted us was very friendly and happy to make suggestions. She was also cute, she offered me a little chopstick napkin apparatus that would make it easier for me to eat with chopsticks, but I don't need that. I still appreciated the gesture! We got the papaya salad, Mango Curry and Khao Soi Soup. Everything was delicious, although I found the mango curry to be a little on the watery side. My favorite item was the Khao Soi soup. It was full of veggies and I liked the contrast of texture between the noodles in the soup and the crunchy noodles on top of the soup. We went for the mock duck because I thought it would be easier to eat that than a chicken leg in the soup. I also really enjoyed the papaya salad and thought it was a fun bonus that it came with two juicy shrimp.

Got the lunch special today basil chicken came with a lot of food at a great price point, and was delicious thnx again guys

Pretty solid Thai that is friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter and pay right away and your order would be delivered to you to your table. Menu was pretty mainstream Thai with few addition of street food. Prices were very reasonable and the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. I ordered green curry with beef, it was good and will come back to try the other things next time.

It's hard to drive past this place without having the urge to get some Pad Thai. Order at the register and they bring the food out to you. Relaxed, chill inside and outside seating.

Love this spot so much! It's got a warm, chill vibe, and the food slaps! We got the yellow curry with chicken on the lunch special and a side of egg rolls. The food came out so quickly and it was incredible. The curry was such a great flavor, and the eggrolls were fried to perfection. The service was great. Very warm, welcoming and attentive!!! We didn't get them this time, but 10/10 recommend the mango sticky rice and crab wontons.

This place is fantastic. Such an underrated restaurant in OB. I always bring friends and all my dates here over the years. I'm glad I get to be a repeat customer and support a small, local business with amazing food. Service is super fast and efficient, you can ask for modifications or further explanations on what ingredients are used. It's a good spot for young people, almost a sorta cafe like environment with beer and good music.

First time and already a fan. The inside was super clean. The staff was very nice and polite. You place your order at the counter and grab a seat. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food came out quick and fast. The food was super flavorful and fresh. We got the panang curry with beef. Love the spicy no joke it's pretty spicy. We shared the Pad Kee Mao Roasted Pork, they definitely did not skimp on the roasted pork. Both the dishes we had were very tasty. Thank you Soi OB for a delicious first time. I can't wait to come back and try something else on the menu.

I ordered delivery through Uber Eats here so I didn't get to see what the ambience or service was like, but the food here was spectacular. Arguably lifechanging. We ordered the Pork Boat Noodle Soup, the Pad Thai, and the Crying Tiger. Pork Boat Noodle Soup is a must order! Such a savory flavorful broth with thin rice noodles, braised pork, and pork meatballs. Veggies included Chinese broccoli, bean sprouts, and green onion. The first sip of the broth was absolutely heavenly. Pad Thai was also delicious! Delightfully bouncy noodles and great flavor. The noodles held well over the course of the delivery. The Crying Tiger was the steak with rice and tamarind hot sauce to dip. So good. The sauce was really a game changer and complemented the steak so well. This is a must-go to Thai spot in San Diego, and I'll definitely have to make another stop here the next time I visit SD.

THAI FOOD FROM THAILAND...and Thai people (5 stars + meteor shower + SpaceX starlinks) Have you ever been to OB, Thailand? Me neither until recently. When the food is THAT good it makes you feel like you been teleported from OB to Bangkok/Chiangmai/Sakhon/Phuket/Krab on every single bite. Took me 7+ years to find my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego and it's in OB (not in Convoy area). Soi OB is next to a laundry mat in the heart of Ocean Beach. This place is the truth. It's also the sister to SoI 30 but the better sister. - FOOD: F-A-N.tastic - PRICE: affordable and fair - SERVICE: sweet owner - AMBIANCE: cute and simple humble shop :: FOOD:: Had to test run the food with the go-to's and was not disappointment! Cooked per order, fresh tasting, clean. I left feeling full but not heavy afterwards. BEEF JERKY ($12.95) - fried beef jerky served with their house tamarind hot sauce. I never had a bad beef jerky at a Thai resultant but their version has meatier stripes than others. Nearly the same flavor but the portion was very generous. It comes with a side of sticky rice and their house tamarind hot sauce... hot is an understanding! HIGHLY RECOMMEND PAD THAI ($14.95) - rice vermicelli noodles stir fried in tamarind sauce, with egg, bean sprouts, green onion, crushed peanuts, cilantro, and a wedge of lime. I ordered this with tofu because I wanted protein but I wanted a protein that didn't add flavor to the dish so I could throughly taste their execution. OK! This was one of the best Phad Thai's I've had in SD/SoCal. It was perfect! Portion to price, ratio of ingredients, and the balance of flavor. It didn't have that overkill tamarind sauce nor flavor or any taste of fish sauce. Every ingredient folded in so well and complimented each other. It was clean tasting - you'll know what I mean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Shame on me... I didn't leave room for dessert. That is very unlike me but will make up for it next time. :: SERVICE :: Order food, pay at the front, and seat yourself. The menu has some dishes I don't often see at other Thai restaurants. The owner and chef are from Thailand - everything about this place is authentic! The owner was so sweet and she ran the front and gave me tips since I couldn't make up my mind if I should try what I know or something new. There is a lady in the back doing all the cooking per order (if that be here orders or to-go orders). Small businesses have love and support. Show this place some love and tip generously. I'm about to be a regular and you know me I will eat the entire menu if I need to. I already know my next order and can't wait to come back. JABA APPROVED. Until the next bite.

Came here on a Friday night and there was no wait. You order at the register, find a seat and they bring you your food. The staff was nice and knowledgeable. The food was quick and fresh. Wow! They have really tasty dishes here. Good food with good prices. The location is close to the beach but it's easy to find parking. You order from the counter, pay then get seated. We ordered fried pork belly, chicken yellow curry and pad Thai. Everything came out at a reasonable amount of time and so delicious!

Staff is polite and food is tasty but portion sizes have been pretty hit or miss lately. Might have to stop coming here if they keep skimping out :(

Great service: you order up front and the food gets to you very quickly. Everyone here is very friendly - and I also really like that when you wanted leftovers, you could get the containers yourself instead of needing to wait for someone to give you the boxes. We got the tom yum noodle soup and kaho soi at maximum spice levels. And they are not joking around when they mean "spicy"! The tom yum noodle soup was so spicy that I needed to slow down when eating it - and I have a high spice tolerance. This was about as spicy as eating a raw habernero pepper - very glad we had thai iced teas to help with the spice. Spice aside, the flavors were delicious and the toppings were incredible. You get very large portions of the food and all the ingredients mix well together. The broth is wonderfully seasoned and flavorful - I was extremely happy with the dishes and would be more than happy to return.

Got the pad see ew add carrots for takeout, great portion. Very flavorful. Spice level is no joke, I got medium and my mouth was on fire! Food was ready quick!

We ordered delivery and it was some of the best khao soi I have had since living in Chiang Mai. The som tom was so fresh and my daughter was obsessed with the chicken satay.

Just wondering how we didn't discover this place sooner? This is the best spot for Thai in the OB area as of now. Everything we've had (minus the chicken satay) was super good. Yellow curry- delicious. Flavorful. Potatoes properly cooked (you'd think this would be a no brainer but many places undercook potatoes leaving them starchy and crunchy). Pad Thai was yummy. Not overly oily which we really appreciated. Tom kha was tasty too. Def recommend if you're in the area and wanting Thai.

Can I just first start by saying idk why people don't believe me when I say I want the spiciest they got lol. I am always advised to downgrade to lower tiers of spice and I'm always left thinking "yeah I could've handled the spiciest version of this". Anyways... I walked into this joint on a cold and misty day in OB and, since the restaurant was named after the dish, I knew that I had to order the Khao Soi in its most spicy variety. As I alluded to above, I ordered this in the thai spice variety. I was told I'll be given hot instead of extra hot thai spice and it took a minute before my meal was served, but man, once it arrived, I kid you not I spent a good hour just enjoying the meal. I arrived at opening so I was the only one in the cutely decorated interior. I had my earphones on, slowly crafting each perfect bite onto my soup spoon. The flat noodles soaked in the rich broth with expertise and the crunchy noodles slowly became soft and added great texture to each bite. I had never attempted to eat chicken legs with chopsticks before but the meat was so tender that, with a little bit of leverage, I was able to clean out two entire legs with a little patience and grip strength. I challenge anyone who wants to turbocharge their chopstick handling skills to do the same. Onions are used in every dish in my culture, so to see a quarter of a raw onion in my dish was a welcome sight. I don't envy those who crossed paths with my onion breath (a la spongebob) in the hours that follow but man was every bite just as oniony as I wanted it to be. After my marathon of an hour, the bowl was empty, only leaving behind the bones of meals past. Will definitely return here and try the other dishes, great stuff.

Our go to place for Thai whenever we are in San Diego. Food is consistently good. Pla Pad Cha (fish) is simply amazing. Pad Kee Mao is smoky and hot. Medium is spicy enough. Service is very quick. Friendly staff. They do a steady carry out business

We love this little place. We always get chicken satay and pad see ew with extra Chinese broccoli. My husband got the Thai iced tea. 100% recommend.

Great little lunch special for $14 with tax - got pad se ew with the option of a salad or egg roll. Opted for the side salad and it was delicious! The dressing was somewhat of a peanut flavor, incredible! The noodles and veggies were fresh and it was the perfect portion for lunch. They have 3 outdoor patio tables and 1 with an umbrella for shade. Perfect lunch outside, would be back!

There was a glitch in my online order, it somehow switched to a dish that I did not order. When I arrived they at first reluctantly agreed to make what I wanted, but in the end fixed to technical error and gave me what I had ordered. This gesture was much appreciated and goes a long way in my book. Oh, and their food is also very good!

Came here cuz the hubby was craving Thai and we didn't want to deal with traffic to get to our usual Thai place closer to home. SO glad we came! Had my taste buds dancing and crying! We ordered green curry and khao soi noodle soups. Both were amazing. Bursting with flavor. Perfect to ward off winter chills. I asked for more pickled mustard greens for my khao soi, and it was gladly provided. I think there may have been only one chef because service was a little slow in getting food to customers. However, the service was always courteous and friendly. The customers were chill, going with the flow. Parking is always a challenge in OB, so park 10 minutes away and walk. You're going to be happy you did, cuz you'll want a good walk after your meal. Though we're probably going to park 15 minutes away next time!

I had such an amazing experience today that I wanted to write a review. The service was so good! I'm not sure if the man serving me was the manager or owner but he was so kind! I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and it was delicious. The music was great, it fit the ambience of the restaurant. At the end of my meal he gave a mango sticky rice dessert which is my favorite. My only regret is that I didn't order more. Highly recommend this spot! 10/10

I just ordered Pad Thai (delivery) from this place. These reviews must be paid. This is the worst Thai I've ever had. The over-cooked noodles were way too sweet and flavorless. There was no spice whatsoever, NO TAMARIND-- an essential ingredient that defines the dish. It was only gummy sugar, with 2 over-cooked pieces of brownish broccoli, and equally flavorless tofu. And for over $20, I'm not exaggerating, it was a disgusting crime. I took one bite and threw the rest of into the garbage disposal. There's no way I would feed this to my dog. Hopefully, all the actual cooks couldn't make it to work tonight? And maybe they had to pull people off the street who had no idea what Pad Thai was? I don't get it.

This place is located near Ocean beach right next to a Laundromat. I was glad they had vegetarian options! I ordered the vegetarian sum tom and asked for spicy spicy !!! It was okay spicy lol... not enough for my southeast Asian taste buds, lol. I'm used to the papaya being more "tom-ed" but it was still kinda harder to chew. I would also recommend vegans/vegetarians to confirm if there was fish sauce in the sum tom. I also ordered the Kha Soi, excited they had a veggie option. Unfortunately, it just tasted like egg noodles in a curry sauce. It wasn't bad, but not what I expected. Good sized portions too. I could only touch less to half of it, lol. I got my fix for being in the area... it was as good as it gets.

You place your order and then can sit either inside or outside. As noted parking can be tricky depending on time and day in the heart of OB and this place is on Cable St just off Newport Ave. Ordered chicken Pad Thai & mixed Pineapple Fried Rice as recommended by staff! Food was hot and tasted quite authentic compared to many other Thai places we've tried. Portions were large and can easily be shared. Based off reviews we went mild spice level but it wasn't spicy enough..next time we will go medium. If you are in the area and craving Thai food be sure to check this place out!!

First time here, I was in the area and craving spicy Pad Thai noodles. I usually order a 6 or a 7 (out of 10) and today I was crazy a little bit spicier so I went for an 8. I probably shouldn't have because it tasted like a 10. My mouth was on fire! But honestly it was some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten. I ordered for pick up so didn't get the whole ambiance of eating inside the restaurant. But the service was quick and friendly. I can't wait to come back and try it again next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend! Oh.. but beware the spicy level. Haha!

Followed my nose to this place while visiting OB. So glad I did it was some of the best pad Thai I have had in a while! I went with medium spice and definitely felt it in the best of ways. If it were a 1-5 heat I usually go 4 and this medium felt just right to me. Staff was friendly and fast, set up seems made for take out or street eating but like a lot of spots in California that could just be residual from the pandemic. I will for sure be back for more next time I am in town!

Ordered takeout a couple times from here, the papaya salad and basil fried rice is excellent, but the pad thai had no flavor and seems pretty hit or miss. service is good though very friendly.

Wonderful, fast, delicious. Hubs had the mango curry special, no heat-so good; spice it up if you like a little more flare as it is on the sweeter side. I went with pad Thai - huge portion I couldn't finish and 4 spice was a good amount of just right. Service was very kind and courteous. Great lunch stop before biking back to PB.

We love Soi OB. We live down the street and put in a pickup order at least once a week most weeks. I've had most items on the menu and it's all been amazing! Whenever we aren't sure what to eat for dinner each night, we usually default to this place and it's never disappointing.

I ordered the chicken yellow curry and I was not happy with my meal. The chicken was overcooked, I asked for no spice but the curry came out spicy. All the vegetables were undercooked, hard to eat and not soft. It's a really cute place and the service is great but I feel like the food needs to improve a little bit.

Enjoyed vegetable and basil fried rice through Grub Hub while vacationing in San Diego. My only issue with the food was that the only vegetable added was lots of zucchini and few pieces of carrot and broccoli. The other issues is not really a reflection of the restaurant but the ordering options. When I went to the website and tried ordering, there was a choice of sliced chicken or minced/ground chicken. When on GrubHub (cheaper delivery) the only option for chicken was minced which I do not like which is why I opted for just vegetables. There should be consistency between the different ordering apps but I feel like that's an easy fix! My point reduction was just for the overwhelming zucchini and not much of the other vegetables. Taste and spice level were good though, I ordered mild and it was perfect. Some places mild is basically no spice but this mild had a good amount of spice. I also didn't see any Thai tea on the delivery menu so that was kind of disappointing but no big deal. Definitely would say to check this place out.

So excited to try this spot! We ordered a grip of food for pick up - pad thai, moo ping, lemongrass wings, pork boat noodle soup, Chinese broccoli with tofu. All delicious and will come back again. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is great, they are so nice. Very relaxed restaurant and will stay for dinner next time!

My wife and I have been here a few times now and everything we've ordered is so good. Be careful on the spice level because they have legit spice and not white washed! Pad Thai and any of the curry's are a win. Also the Thai chicken wings an appetizer. Great friendly service and nice environment to have a meal near downtown OB

Mmmm mmmm deliciousness. I've never noticed this was here and it's so sad. Came here with friends and got curry, egg rolls, pork, soup. Everything was so yummy. So much flavor. So happy . I want to return and discover more flavors. Be patient, good food takes time. I appreciate the staff and love what they have going here. Bonus! Leave a review and get s great. The treat doesn't make me love this place. I love it organically. The treat motivates me to share that love. Please support and enjoy.

Came here after OB Oktoberfest for some snacks and was not disappointed! The dumplings and egg rolls were really good and I would definitely come back to try more things! Also the woman working there was so sweet and even ran out after me to give me my stein that I forgot at the table :p

That moo ping appetizer dish was so delicious. The meat was extremely flavorful. Worth it just for this dish.
