Keith Lee Announces Move to Dallas With Two Restaurant Reviews - Eater Dallas

"A Black- and family-owned coffee bar in Trinity Groves. Recommended dishes include catfish and grits, loaded avocado toast without tomatoes, and peach cobbler eggroll. The red velvet waffle was deemed fine but not special." - Courtney E. Smith

I stopped by Soirée Coffee Bar on Saturday, and I’m so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed. It wasn’t crowded or chaotic just a calm, cozy space with the perfect vibe for a relaxing weekend start. The ambience was everything: live R&B music set the tone, creating a soulful and inviting atmosphere. I ordered the Cajun fried catfish, which was perfectly seasoned and crisp, and paired it with a Dizzy Trumpet though I swapped out the original spirit for tequila, and it was still spot-on. What really made the experience stand out was how balanced everything felt great food, great music, and drinks that were absolutely immaculate. I was recommended this place since I’ll be moving into the area soon, and I couldn’t think of a better introduction. I’ll definitely be back.

Hey! Visiting from HTX! Walked in at the right time for brunch and live music on Easter Sunday! Won't He Do it!! The menu had a plethora of delicious options, it was so hard to choose. We wanted it all. For our dine in experience the ambience was energetic, live with music and just great vibes. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles, Catfish & Grits with oxtails on the side. Good southern comfort, 10/10 chef kiss!! For drinks we had the lavender lemonades soon good! Dessert was the peach cobbler egg rolls to go but when we demolished these soooo good! Highly recommend and def will be my go to when visitng. Thanks!

Google
I had a great experience at this coffee bar. I had the chai tea and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Literally taste like it was made with love. I highly recommend this one, can’t wait to visit again. I would give it 10s across the board if that was an option. Very nice, great service, pricing and vibes.

A group of us came here on a Saturday morning for brunch. Reservation is highly recommended. It was AMAZING! Everything from service, the food, and the live piano entertainment was on point. We had ordered several Lavender & Strawberry mimosas by the carafe. Those were great. Peach cobbler eggrolls were different and delicious. Oxtail-n-grouda grits were delicious, Blackened Salmon ettoufee was delicious & generous. Avocado toast looked amazing, and cajun fish & grits were good. We'll be coming back on a regular basis.

First time visit to Soirée Coffee Bar and I had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was jazzy and moody(in a good way) and the service was inline with a 5 star restaurant. Also Rebecca Dena, the vocalist, was absolutely amazing

The warm and cozy atmosphere I've experienced feels like home, and I truly consider it my sanctuary. This place is simply marvelous. They are like family, and I encourage everyone to visit Soirée Coffee Bar.

Google
The ambience was serving looks—absolutely stunning. That’s where the compliments stop. There was a wait due to a mix-up, which I was willing to forgive… until my lukewarm latte arrived looking like it had given up halfway through. The lamb? So dry it could’ve filed for divorce from the concept of moisture. Thank goodness for the potatoes—crispy, golden, and clearly the only ones doing their job. The scrambled eggs, on the other hand, tasted like someone whispered the word “flavor” from across the room. For these prices? I expected a lot more than vibes and disappointment on a plate.

Google
I had heard about this restaurant from multiple sources and what’s crazy is, I didn’t realize it was the restaurant everyone was talking about until I walked in. I had a group of 3 and we didn’t have reservations, but was able to come in and dine. It was a Saturday mid day (I highly recommend making reservations on weekends), but we were able to be seated. I loved the atmosphere plus the musician that was playing at the time. I ordered avocado toast with a side of fruit and it did not disappoint! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at the customer service I received and the food. First time going for my best friend's birthday brunch and we had an AMAZING TIME!!! Cozy spot with live music and good drinks. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Meeting the Owners. They are both amazing people and have the dedication , hospitality , and love of running this amazing restaurant. Please make sure you speak with them. Clive is the cook and the mastermind behind the menu. LaFree handles the restaurant business ,and she is so hands on with staff it's amazing . Everyone there is amazing. The food !! Just a heads up make sure you have a reservation because there is not really open seating for walk ins not unless they have a cancellation or can squeeze you in. Also if you want to hear love Jazz music try to schedule your brunch around noon time. I can't wait to come back and try some different menu options

Yelp
Soirée Coffee Bar is hands down one of the best brunch spots around! The ambiance is everything chic, vibrant, and full of great energy. Whether you're coming for a laid-back morning or a lively brunch with friends, the atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy. The food? Incredible. The Rasta Pasta is an absolute standout creamy, flavorful, and with just the right kick. Pair it with one of their brunch cocktails or a smooth latte, and you've got a winning combo. On top of that, the service is top-tier. The staff is friendly, attentive, and really adds to the experience. If you're looking for a brunch spot that checks all the boxes great food, great vibes, and great service--Soirée Coffee Bar is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Yelp
If you haven't visited the Intimate Coffee Bar, then you're missing out. Customer Service was spectacular, nice ambiance, good food and awesome drinks. Expresso Martini & Avocado Toast is a definite must try. I give it 10/10 definitely recommend.

Yelp
My mom was visiting from the Bahamas and so I decided to take her to my favorite coffee shop brunch. We really enjoyed the food. It was always delicious, however, the volume of music is a little overbearing for the small space and so that's why today I gave it four out of five stars. We had a reservation and we were seated quickly however I do believe that they were understaffed because the attentiveness that we usually got we did not receive during this trip.

Yelp
**Absolutely Fantastic Dining Experience at Soiree!** If you're looking for a spot that's not just a meal but a whole vibe, look no further! From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was electric and the customer service was on a level we didn't expect! The owner greeted us with such warmth we thought we had arrived at a family reunion. And yes, we even took pictures together--because who doesn't want a selfie with the genius behind the deliciousness?! Now, let's talk food. Oxtails and grits, lamb chops, and the peach cobbler egg rolls It was nothing short of excellent! Every bite was like a party in my mouth, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. Seriously, I might have dreamt about it afterwards! The icing on the cake? They stayed open later just for us! Now that's what I call going above and beyond. If you haven't tried this place yet, do yourself a favor and make it happen. Trust me, it's a must-try that'll leave you raving! #EpicEats #RestaurantGoals #FoodieParadise #Soiree

Yelp
Stopped here while out with a friend and I found out they've changed their hours to 9p.m. on Wednesday-Friday. It's been about 7 weeks since this started. I'm so glad to know that one of my Favorite Black Owned Husband and Wife small Coffee Bars is still alive and doing remarkably better than some other small businesses. Phillip, and Erykah were so sweet, and the hospitality was Fire' ya as always.

Yelp
I stopped in based on Keith Lee's recommendation and I'm now hooked. Great service, great food, great atmosphere!! This is just as convenient as going to any other grab n go spot but if you want to relax and people while thumbing around on social media with a morning cup of coffee (the Ella Fitzgerald is my go to) they have that as well. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu. The breakfast sandwich "Pig in a box" to die for. Get it with a biscuit!! Nothing negative about the croissant but IYKYK.

Yelp
This could be just an anomaly but this mess is SALTY AF. It was so salty that we left half the food on the plate. The pics are how much food we left. We ordered a 2 go order and decided against it. It took 2 hours for us to get our food and it wasn't even packed. I hate to say it but this was a typical black business experience. Slow service, mediocre food and everybody taking too long to do simple things like get us the check. I tipped according to the service 10%. Wanted to love it more but I need to go home and drink a gallon of water to dilute the salt. Happy 92% brunch day.

Melisande P.

Yelp
The shrimps and grits were seasoned to perfection. I wish the grits weren't as soupy, but they were very delicious! The service was a little slow and somewhat confusing as I didn't know who my waitress/waiter was. The ambience is very pleasant and has a good vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
I have to say, this may become one of my go to brunch restaurants. I was invited here by a good friend. Our server Erica was amazing. She was prompt, patient and knowledgeable. My dish was great. The Pork Chop breakfast was delicious. The pork chops were seasoned well, and potatoes were fire. Every Saturday and Sunday is live music. Please try to go when live music is available. They pick very good musicians. Love it. Will be back at least 2 times a month to enjoy good food and music.

Yelp
Went to Soirée Sunday after church. I did not have a reservation and was able to be seated outside. Service was a good. It did take a little bit for my server to come over at first but after I was checked on by a couple people. I enjoyed my meal and cool breeze.
google avatar

Yelp
I came in for Sunday brunch. They only serve the brunch menu, you can't order from any other menu. The brunch menu isn't very big but the meals are generous and just enough variety for any Cajun food lover. Getting food was quite a wait (~30mins) but I would like to believe it is because they make it fresh and those meats we ordered are not ones that are made quickly. The carafe of mango mimosa was at a good price point, $25. The food was absolutely delicious my friend had the pork chop dish and I the oxtail with grits. Those oxtails were to die for! The sauce with the grits. I will be back to try the chicken and waffles and everything else on the menu.

Yelp
I'm not in Trinity Groves too often, but when I went through the other day I stopped at Soirée for a caffeine pick me up and a snack. What an incredible little spot! There was plenty of room to work, sit and eat, and wait for the delicious food. I walked in and right to the counter; the person taking my order was helpful and patient! I ordered the Avocado Toast and a latte (the Lena). I was blown away by the Avocado Toast; it was delicious, filling, and so flavorful! I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Great food, great service, great music and ambiance! The owners are super sweet and give so much to the community, by mentoring young people. Make reservations ahead of time!

Yelp
Tried a new spot today, at the recommendation of a dear friend. An early Sunday morning, with the intention to just pass through and have a coffee, but I quickly got real comfortable. The ambiance was peaceful and welcoming. The jazz music was right on point, not too loud and made for a relaxing atmosphere. I quickly lost track of time and decided to stay for brunch, which begins at 10am. I opted For a heavy meal and ordered the Rasta pasta with oxtail. As expected it was full of flavor and hit the spot. I moved on from coffee and enjoyed a lavender mimosa to top off my meal. Their live music set starts at Noon (make sure you reserve a table online). I saw a few walk in folks being offered the coffee bar seating and patio because they had not made reservations after 10am. I managed to hear a bit of the live music, before giving up my table. They get busy fast over the weekend, so plan ahead and make a reservation, so you can truly take it all in. This is definitely a spot to visit frequently and enjoy a soirée.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Had a reservation at 11:00 and we got there at 11:30 am. They initially said we weren't going to get a table but the owner said she will make it work. And that she did. We hand a great time food was amazing had the fish and grits .

Yelp
Soirée is my personal go-to brunch spot, and is the first place I would recommend to others who are looking for recs! Soirée has become one of my absolute favorite spots in Dallas. The ambiance is so fun, the staff is always friendly, and the food is INCREDIBLE. We've gone numerous times for brunch over the last few years, and every single time, the food has consistently been amazing. We love their lavender mimosa, and the chicken and waffles is *chefs kiss.* I cannot recommend Soirée enough!
google avatar

Tierra T.

Yelp
In the heart of downtown Dallas lies this super cute spot, with STELLAR service, and live music. The vibes were immaculate. The music is painfully loud. I personally don't think the speakers are required, the space is quaint enough to hear the live music throughout the restaurant! Not the best place for a book club meeting because it's LOUD. The chicken and waffles were phenomenal. It actually comes with a full chicken wing not the chicken strips. I'll definitely be returning!
google avatar

Terri N.

Yelp
I came across this in lace as a coffee enthusiast looking for new experiences in Dallas. I picked up some items to-go but I really like this place. Parking is in the garage to the back of Soirée so I like that! Inside the establishment you have a nice view of the street and the patio area. The place is open and spacious and very clean! Decor is of a coffee shop and a jazz lounge. I would love to visit during evening to see what the vibe is like. Service was excellent, coffee tasted exceptional and the Pig In A Box was delicious! I'll be back for more Soirée
google avatar

Carissa L.

Yelp
Soirée is such a vibe. I've been to this coffee shop several times and I've had a great experience every time. The service is super fast and amazing, it's really clean inside, the ambiance is chill (they play good music) and there's always a nice crowd (but not too packed). I recently got the chai latte and it was sooo good. I also tried the chicken biscuit and it was good, but I would try something else next time. I can't wait to go again!
google avatar

Remy V.

Yelp
Came here with my mom because this looked like such a cute place and I didn't want a huge meal. Im going to start with the POSITIVES first. This is black owned and I love to support black businesses. The area is in the heart of Trinity groves and they play great music and the atmosphere was up my alley. The owner was very friendly and we appreciated that. Now let's talk about the food. To my surprise this was very very lackluster. My mom got the Caesar salad and she said she was shocked it didn't have much flavor at all and said they needed to add or change the seasonings they fry it with. I got the bird in a box which is a fried chicken biscuit. I'm sorry, but I was genuinely disappointed. When I come to a black owned restaurant I expect nothing short of amazing chicken. They didn't serve any local honey either, I received a Kraft packet of honey :( (there are TONS of local honey places that and are in Dallas so I was sad about this.) I wanted a smoothie but when I asked if they used real fruit the owner said no. They also charge for water. I think this place has a lot of potential, but it's just not there yet. If they revamped this chicken recipe and started sourcing locally for ingredients like the honey and real fruit, I would probably return.
google avatar

Kay B.

Yelp
Soirée is such a vibe. Beyond the aesthetics, the coffee and food are amazing. I love the unique coffee flavors they offer, which you likely can't find anywhere else. It's easily a place where you can work, refuel, and get lost in your tasks. 10/10!
google avatar

Shannon E.

Yelp
We travel from Oklahoma and you can believe we are stopping by Soirée EVERYTIME. The food, service and ambiance are beyond compare. The owners are extraordinary and they are a GREAT example of BLACK EXCELLENCE!
google avatar

Quiana T.

Yelp
I dined with a group of 30+ and I must say service was pretty decent considering the group size. All of the food came out hot and fresh. The catfish is a must! There's a short list menu for brunch so be sure there's something you would like prior to going. The live music is a nice touch for this ambiance.
google avatar

Yelp
Soire'e is a cute little black owned coffee bar located in Trinity Groves. We arrived on a Saturday for brunch (11-3). We were immediately greeted at the door and seated on the patio. My companion had the ox tails and grits and rated the meal 10/10. I had the shrimp and grits which were seasoned and cooked to perfection. We shared a bottle of champagne with a variety of different flavored syrups (lavender, strawberry, mango and peach). Everything was amazing from the food, drinks, service and ambiance. Take my word for it and go check it out for yourself! !
google avatar

Sera R.

Yelp
So let's start with the positives: great ambiance, very clean, very good food. Now for the improvement opportunities: the staff were kind but the service wasn't great. Service: We came in for brunch and called ahead to confirm walk-ins would be welcome. Upon arrival, they had little no customers but insisted that all tables were reserved. We had no problem sitting at the counter top area but it took the server over 15 minutes to greet us once we're were at counter top seating. It was very confusing and led us to feel like we were unwelcome. Pricing: In addition to the service, I think the menu options were over priced given the portion sizes. We spent over $100 on small plates of grits, coffee, a smoothie and a small waffle. TLDR: I wouldn't recommend this spot due to the price gouging and inconsistent service. The food had great flavor and the drinks were great.

Yelp
I've had coffee at Soirée a few times because I lived in the complex above the shop and each time was a nice experience. The owners are always so sweet and welcoming to me. But today......, I had the oxtails and grits during their brunch...... I wanted to cry, because why have I missed out on the brunch this long and the oxtails & grits combo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10s across the board. Daydreaming about that plate rn.
google avatar

Yelp
While blowing time before going to check into my hotel, I passed by Soiree Coffee Bar and had a sit-down. I ordered a cappuccino and a chocolate strudel. Had a seat in the patio area out front and enjoyed myself as well as the coffee and pastry. I found parking to be a bit off in the area. I ended up down a side street where I found plenty parking. I think there may be a garage nearby. The area is just on the outskirts of downtown, so may be congested at times.
google avatar

Tamara R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. The food and drinks were amazing!! The only thing I didn't care for was all the noise. I found this place on Instagram and was expecting something a little more chill. Thought I was gonna eat my grits and oxtail while piano was playing. Not so much lol

Megan S.

Yelp
The food, service and the softness of this coffee shop is amazing! I tend to work here and would stay a while. In the weekends, there's live music and of course brunch. Very nice setting!! Let's not forget the coffee! Very delicious

Yelp
Taste food , good coffee and nice atmosphere-perfect combination Also, convenient location with good parking

Yelp
It was a year or so when I visited so hopefully things have improved. Music too loud. We sat outside just to hear ourselves talk to each without yelling! Service was terrible. They forgot to put our order in and pretty much ignored us for almost an hour. We requested our check for drinks and the server sends the "chef" out to apologize and say he is personally making it. We wait another 30 minutes and he comes out again...same story. 15 minutes after that we get food in styrofoam boxes to go. We try a few bites, food was pretty good but not worth a two hour wait. We wanted to give this place another change ( we brunch monthly as a group) but all of us have received similar terrible reviews word of mouth. That's too bad too because the food was still pretty good after I got home and reheated it.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
Peeps. I hit the road and a friend took me to this spot. Love it!!! Decor was real nice, vibe was chilled, service was truly southern hospitable. The food was delicious. Only thing, the portions are small for a hungry guy like me. Go for everything else but to get full. Check them out and tell them PK sent you.
google avatar

Shalyn M.

Yelp
This place has amazing food and drinks, I loved their breakfast sandwich and matcha. Great place to study and or meet friends. The owner does seem a little apathetic which is unfortunate but the barista and kitchen staff were lovely.
google avatar

Dez V.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Super fresh and came out fast. Service was great. All the staff were very knowledgeable. Ambiance is cute and open. They serve alcohol here! Love that. The coffee was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't wait to come back here and try the food! My latte and matcha were amazing. The vibe is so chill and of course the aesthetics are gorgeous in here.

Yelp
So this was my birthday brunch with my son's Granny. I got a little turned around it's ACROSS from Trinity Grove with street or rear garage parking. The saxophonist was brilliant & versatile from gospel to ol' school and birthday shout outs..Our food was slow coming but fresh and hot, so worth the wait in my opinion! The fried fish n grits. Grits have 0 sugar but we only ate half. Nice size filets on top of the grits & gravy (no meat)..It was highly seasoned & this was my 1st time having gravy on grits - it's definitely a vibe for my buds..The coffee tasted freshly ground. The water was crisp and cool. Beautiful crowd. Families & couples both young middle aged & seniors..Girls out brunchs, birthdays, even a wifi bandit who seemed welcome & attended to. The seating was comfortable and modern..the check-ins weren't as frequent as I would have liked but it wasn't too bad. Clean bathrooms.. Will definitely be back for the dinner menu.. Make a reservation

Yelp
I can't even comment on the food. With a reservation i waited upwards of 20-25 minutes to be seated. A couple came behind us with no reservations sat inside. We are now outside at a table outside of the establishment. Been here about 10-15 minutes with no server not even an offer of water. I try my best to support places that are black owned but this is simply ridiculous. Very unacceptable & unprofessional but it seems to be the normal for this place. This was one of the worst experiences i've ever experienced.
google avatar

Madigan M.

Yelp
Yes! Soak in the jazzy atmosphere at this awesome black-owned business in Trinity Groves. This coffee shop is on the ground floor of a five-over-one apartment building. The decor is lovely - all music inspired, and the seating is comfortable and plentiful, both inside and outside on the patio. The drinks on the menu are mostly named after African-American singers - I got an Ella Fitzgerald (a salted caramel latte) which was delicious. They had a case full of extremely tempting little cheesecakes available. I will definitely have to come back to sample more!
google avatar

Terrance P.

Yelp
My first visit to Soiree was a success. No issues with parking or wait time. My girlfriend was able to sub the dirty rice for grits on the Blackened Salmon entrée. I was able to enjoy my fried catfish and gouda grits. I don't even like grits. . Lea was a great server. The atmosphere was a great brunch vibe. The piano player was amazing.

Cassidy W.

Yelp
Yall! I ain't playing about this place. This is probably one of the best experiences I be ever had a restaurant. From the beginning it was a joy. My mom and I got there early for our reservation and they sat us. I noticed the nice tufted purple fancy chairs and asked if we could sit there. They said it was reserved but then still let us sit there. Yall we felt like royalty in there. Like service was IMPECCABLE. The food came so fast. Yall not even 15 minutes later. And let me tell you the food was delicious. I got the chicken and waffles, my mom got the fish and grits. Oh my gosh. Everything was flavored so well. We came during brunch for the live music. The musician was incredible. I can't even express how much fun we had. The vibes were great, the food was great, the service was great, the manager and/or owner came to greet us. The coffee was delicious. Yall. Just come here. Live here. It was worth every single dollar. Make sure to make a reservation though I don't think you can just walk in.

Yelp
Great coffee, food and atmosphere! Have visited a few times and it never disappoints. Love the live music.

Yelp
Yoooo! Soirée is awesome!! Britney was my host when I came in; she was awesome. She asked my name and talked to me for a bit which I love at coffee shops! Plenty of seating, comfy chairs, tons of natural light, bustling view of Singleton Blvd, perfect spot for your business lunch or to catch up with a buddy. I also got the pig in a box and extra scramble eggs with a black coffee; wow it was all amazing. Homemade biscuits, coffee was a perfect temp, eggs were fluffy and they were very generous with the portions! Making this place my regular coffee spot now!
google avatar

Tierra SheReviewz Z.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday for brunch. Very busy but you can still see the vibe they were going for. The pianist playing was a special touch. Small things that threw us off was the seating, unorganized order line, and the overall dine in process. They don't accept reservations. But you can put something on the table to "claim" it while you wait in line to order your food. Due to the small space the line went throughout the entire restaurant that could make it feel cramped. The seats were not comfortable and the tables were unbalanced. The only thing I feel good about was the food. For the wait, it was okay. I get what they are going for, I just wish it was a bit more polished.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
To keep it short and simple, you need to check out this coffee bar! The location is beautiful in the inside with an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. The coffee was made fast and was delicious. It is a little pricey compared to other local shops, but it's definitely worth it.
google avatar

Rick T.

Yelp
We visited for brunch on a Sunday. Great shrimp and grits as well as their chicken and waffles. We also had a side order of catfish which was simply delicious! Great service as well as the wait time for our food. The decaf expresso and their live entertainment was a pleasant surprise. The owners are good people who came out to welcome us.

Ashley S.

Yelp
The ambiance is nice. I had a reservation for Sunday brunch. Being seated took a few minutes but not too long. Once seated, it took longer than usual for the waitress to assist. She wasn't rude but also didn't seem too happy to be at work. I ordered the catfish and grits and tried the French toast bites. The fish and grits were seasoned to perfection! I also had a strawberry lemonade served which was very good; no free refills. I'll definitely return.

Yelp
What a VIBE! I absolutely love Soirée. Everything from the food to the ambiance is amazing. I frequent their weekend brunches and I haven't been disappointed yet. The weekend brunch menus change every weekend and are curated by brunchaholics. Be sure to check the menu before you head there on the weekends because they don't deviate. Since I work remotely, I like to get out of the house and work from local coffee shops sometimes. Soirée is perfect for those days that you don't have a lot of meetings. Good breakfast and lunch, great drinks and lattes! My favorite lattes are the Lena Horne and Billie Holiday. You have to tru the bird in a box (chicken biscuit) but sub the biscuit for an almond croissant. Perfect blend of sweet and savory!!
