Yelp
5 stars for the food, but 3 stars for the service, rounding it out to a 4 :) Soju Anju never disappoints if you're looking for a family style snack or meal. It's hard to find really good Korean food in Seattle proper, but this gem located in Capitol Hill is definitely a hit! The more times I've gone, the more crowded it's been. The interior holds a good amount of people, with circular tables that your group can crowd around, and a section for larger groups in a different section.
I give the service 3 stars, because of a couple different experiences. One night, we were looking for something to eat late-night. I called around 10:30PM to make sure they were open until 12AM, in which they confirmed. We got there at 11PM to give us an hour before closing to eat, but when we walked in, they denied us, saying the kitchen had been closed. Just 30 minutes earlier, we had called and ubered there specifically to eat, just to be turned away. Not a great experience. Other times, the service has just been lacking, where we would ask for something and they forget, or we try to flag someone down and they walk right past. It DOES get super busy, but some sort of acknowledgement would be nice.
Now the food is worth the wait. 5 stars for everything I've eaten off the menu. My personal favorites are the spicy stir-fried squid, fried chicken, and army stew. Everything comes in good portion sizes, enough to share with a group, and the flavors are all explosive. A lot of the time, Korean food can just taste like gochujang, especially for dishes that are spicy, but I've tried their squid, rice cakes, army stew and ramen, and they all have a unique taste and flavor that makes each stand out. Super delicious, and perfect to eat anytime of the day, whether it be completely sober, fighting off a hangover, or just getting the night started with a round of soju or beer!
