"With multiple locations over Los Angeles, Jimmy’s is sort of a chain, but one that’s still great to catch the game at. Almost everything on the menu is good, but our favorite thing is the Jimmy Burger, which comes with jalapenos and pimento cheese." - kat hong, james montgomery

We came here as a baby shower dinner with close family to celebrate on a weekday. The food was phenomenal! I got the prawn enchilada which was the best enchilada I have had! It was so tasteful with good quality ingredients, cheese and the sauce was so flavorful! Our table also got fajitas and carnita tacos that were amazing. The ambience was wonderful and aesthetically pleasing. Our server was kind and accommodating. This Mexican restaurant combines everything perfectly! I wish I had tried it earlier, we will be back!

We had a nice time joining this restaurant, our waiter Mani was very attentive and professional, he brought us chips, salsa and bean dip which was very tasty 10/10. The ambience was good too! For starters we had Sugar Cane Filet medium 5/10, Shrimp taquitos 7/10, jalapeño cream soup 8/10. For entree we had enchiladas de langosta 8/10, tacos Del Mar 7/10 and lastly drinks: Luna roja margarita 10/10, luna roja margarita with vodka , cilantro cucumber margarita 5/10. We didn’t get dessert because not to much variety and I was full! Thanks again for a great time and see you next time!!!

Excellent food, location, service and atmosphere! This Mexican Restaurant is one of the best in LA and is worth your time. Upon entrance, Benjamin was welcoming, attentive and warm. You can tell he takes pride in ensuring an exceptional experience. Lauren was a helpful server who provided recommendations, and Chef Adrian is masterful. Atmosphere is perfect for family or business events as well as date night. If you love sea bass, try the Del Mar Sea Bass - it is seasoned to perfection and melts in your mouth. Indulge in the chips and salsa. And compliment your meal with the Grilled Romaine Salad and Guacamole Sampler. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Great Mexican food! We love their octopus and sugar cane filets. Very authentic tastes. Only one downside is the kids salmon is a bit too salty. Other than that everything is great with Sol Agave! Recommend this place if visiting Santa Monica! Tip: REMEMBER to validate your parking ticket to get 90 minutes free parking.

One of our favorite restaurants in Santa Monica. Attentive and friendly waitstaff, delicious food, and reasonably priced. The complimentary chips are the best we’ve ever had, they’re so light and airy we always ask for extras - which they happily and quickly provide. The bean dip and salsa it comes with is so addictive too. There seems to be a dedicated chips and salsa server too, so the chips are always hot and fresh. There is indoor and outdoor seating. And even though it’s located in busy Santa Monica, we never had any issues with seating. The host always seats us quickly and always accommodates any requests to sit inside or outside. And the food! They have a great deal called Clasico de Mexico which is a combo plate for $19! It comes with rice and beans and whatever entree. Usually I get the oaxacan enchiladas and taco. I’ve also had the shrimp enchiladas and it was amazing as well. The shrimp was very plump and fresh. I know this is a small local chain and I’ve never been to the other locations, but this Santa Monica one is fantastic. Great service, delicious food, at a good price. Plus the bathrooms are super clean too. Love this spot!

A true taste of Mexico. I was visiting the area during a cold spell and found myself with a craving for a hearty chicken soup. One of the prior reviewers said that the chicken soup was delicious. They were absolutely correct, and there’s so much more to rave about. I walked into Sol Agave and was greeted by a familiar environments. Having recently visited Mexico City, and being from Texas, the design elements felt familiarly warm and welcoming. The restaurant is modern and sleek, but not overwhelmingly so, as there are rustic and nautical elements that add to the character and charm of the restaurant. The employees were just as welcoming, and several team members greeted me and made sure I was comfortable. For the record, I was very at home in the tufted leather banquette they sat me at! Even before we get to the actual food, they brought out some chips accompanied by salsa and bean dip. Typical, right? Wrong - the bean dip is truly delicious and you must try. Just be careful to not overindulge as this is just the beginning and you don’t want fill up before the main event. Now for the food. The chicken tortilla soup was absolutely delicious. Even if it’s hot outside, you should consider getting it because it’s that good. It’s packed with flavor. For the meat lovers,m, you’ll be happy to hear that the soup is packed with chicken. For the vegetable lovers, you’ll be glad to hear es lo miso para las veduras. It’s got some peppery heat to it, so consider that before you order if you’re spice sensitive. As a Texan with Cajun roots, peppery heat is a positive in my book. I also got the chile Colorado, which was also delicious. However, my appetite was no match, and I took half of it to go, which I enjoyed for lunch the next day. The thing that makes the experience here so special is that all of the details are right. The food, the service, the design aesthetic. And the music really wraps everything up in a bow. The dinner soundtrack included me dejes solo (daddy yankee), no me conoco (JHAYCO) and asesina (brytiago and Darell). Thank you so much to Nico and team for making my dinner so special. A must visit in the area.

Google
Great Mexican food with a lot of options. I particularly enjoyed the Chili Colorado and also the Chile Relleno with pollo enmolado. They have good service and plenty of drink options, and can accomodate dietary restrictions.

Google
Sol Agave has truly mastered the art of bringing elevated Mexican flavors to their menu, and their Happy Hour is an experience worth savoring! I have their ribs and fries during Happy Hour when I came, and I am always thoroughly impressed. The ribs have been incredibly tender, coated in a rich, flavorful glaze that had the perfect balance of smoky and sweet. Every bite feels indulgent, with the Sol Agave meat falling off the bone and a delightful hint of spice that lingered just enough to keep you wanting more. Topped with fresh microgreens, the presentation is thoughtful and appetizing a great deal for happy hour! The fries are a perfect companion —crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. They have a light seasoning that complements the ribs without overpowering them. The portion size is generous but not too generous, making it a fantastic deal for Happy Hour/dinner. Paired with their tangy and slightly smoky house ketchup, it is an irresistible duo. The ambiance at Sol Agave only enhances the experience. With its vibrant and inviting atmosphere, it’s a great spot to unwind after a long day. Pair your food with Edgar the bar with one of their refreshing beers or specialty cocktails, and you’re in for a treat. They’ll remember your order next time! If you’re looking for a Happy Hour that delivers both quality and flavor, Sol Agave is the place to be. The ribs and fries are a must-try—delicious, satisfying, and an excellent value. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I cannot stand how great the food is here, the food will melt your taste buds They nailed it! I recommend making reservations at this restaurant it can get crowded at lunch and dinner. Parking is limited around this restaurant near Santa Monica beach. The twist to this review is that even though this restaurant is about two and half hours away from Mexico, the taste is surprisingly authentic. Here's my executive summary: Service: 5/5 Drinks: 5/5 Good for groups: 5/5 Depth of Menu: 5/5 Deliciousness level: 5/5 From the outside of this busy street, it is easy to past this restaurant especially at night but there is more than meets the eye. We had a party of 10 hungry adults and the place had an abundance of real estate to accommodate our party and the service we had was excellent! The drink menu has depth here and were delicious. Some of us ordered strawberry margaritas, some Corona beers. The bartenders know what they are doing here. Some of the tastes of the evening included the chips, with salsa and guacamole. Out of these three dishes, the guacamole grabbed my attention. We added the Chipotle Glazed Pork Ribs and he Calamari. All of these dishes were delicious! Others at the table got the chicken and beef fajitas, the grilled Romaine salad, crispy Tinga Chicken Tacos, the Del Mar Sea Bass and I ordered the the 'Famous Carnitas' - which was home run! I heard nothing but forks clanking the plates and delightful yums from their lips. I've raved to everyone about how fabulous the experience was and can't wait to go again."

Yelp
Upscale, nice area, friendly staff but we were waiting a lot in between requests. Enjoyed the marg flight and chile rellenos. Meat one was very good. Dessert was forgettable. Chips and dip were great. Great setting for a date or work celebration. Parking was confusing and they only validate on the south side lot.

Yelp
I called ahead for a reservation for Valentine's Day the day before and they got me in. We ended up running a little late and they had no issue adjusting the reservation to accommodate us, which was great. We arrived and were immediately seated. The restaurant has a great vibe, everything was clean and the staff were very friendly. We promptly received our water and got some complimentary chips and salsa with refried beans. It was delicious! Juan came over and took our order and we received our food promptly. Everything was really tasty, and the portion of my carnitas was big. My girlfriend said she wished she had a little more mahi mahi in her tacos, but my portion was more than enough to filll us both up. Our water was constantly full (a big thing I equate to attentive and quality service), Juan frequently checked in to make sure we were ok, and our dishes were pre-bussed in a timely manner. The service, atmosphere, and food were excellent! I liked that there was a wide variety of price ranges for the food but the quality seemed high across the board. That makes this place great for special occasions but also for a more casual dinner. Highly recommend! I almost forgot, we got the caramel churros for dessert and they were elite. Make sure you try them!

Yelp
What a wonderful establishment! A great way to enjoy a birthday dinner! Let's dive in... Service (5/5): The service is top notch! I ordered a drink with flamed-smoked herbs in the glass and the showmanship is phenomenal! They performed and made the drink table side. They also brought out a dessert for my birthday after the meal which was delightful! Chips and Guac (5/5): The guac was extra on top of the chips and salsa they bring out. All of it was flavorful and such a nice nosh ahead of the main meal! Mar y Tierra (5/5): This dish was vibrant with flavor and had a nice cheesy finish on top. Salmon Salad (5/5): The dish was perfectly cooked (fish wasn't dry) with a sweet fruit flavor throughout! TL;DR: A fantastic Mexican bite to eat! And a fun place to celebrate a birthday!

Yelp
Where do I start? The moment we came in, we were greeted with a host in the front who was willing to accommodate us even though it was Valentines Day. Our server Ramiro was EXTREMELY knowledgeable on the menu & all the hip things on the menu, I love him lol. He knew the best drinks and what he thought I'd like, he was right! I'll definitely be back to SOL Santa Monica. Great vibes and amazing food

Yelp
Food: 3/5 Came here for lunch, included chip and dip was great. I ordered the fish taco plate which had a nice taste to get, fish was a bit extra cooked for my taste. The mango slices made the difference. Tasted really fresh. I would definitely check out the drinks will look fantastic! Service: 5/5 Quick, attentive, always walking by the table to ask if I needed anything which was really nice. AAmbiance: 5/5 Place looks beautiful, wonderful decor. Great place to grab food and drinks!

Yelp
My husband decided to surprise me with tickets to Cirque du Soleil and it was in Santa Monica, so we decided to eat at Sol Agave. I've been to the one in San Clemente before, so I already had some expectations coming in. The restaurant itself was beautiful and clean, and it had a definite upscale vibe. We wanted to sit indoors because we were cold, but oddly enough we were seated in their coldest part of the restaurant, lol. I'll be sure to ask to sit elsewhere if I come back! Food was excellent-we ordered the pork belly bites for appetizers, and wow, that's amazing, and seriously deep fried! Very tasty, and the honey-serrano dressing with a tomatillo salsa was delicious! Clever combination! Also had the Chile Verde and my husband opted for the carnitas soft taco and chicken Mole enchilada. All tasted delicious and flavorful! Will come back if I'm in the Santa Monica area, though I recommend planning extra time for parking or come early!

Yelp
Had a lovely lunch here yesterday. The restaurant is located on Ocean Drive with outdoor and indoor seating, great for people watching even from inside. I had the famous Carnitas, which was delicious. The food was super fresh and made with quality ingredients. The food comes with complementary chips and salsa, which is a nice surprise. The margaritas are good as well!

Yelp
First of all A+ service! We came around 1pm on a Monday, we were seated right away since there was plenty of open space. We were a group of 5 and fit comfortably in a corner booth. Three of us ordered the ceviche mixto (mixed shrimp, octopus, and fish) that came with a plantain chip and three small tostadas. We asked for tapatio and a couple of their other spicy salsas. We also asked for mayonnaise, pro tip, this is good on the tostada. :) The ceviche has a little spice due to the chile Serrano but it's really good, and the portion is pretty generous. The servers were super attentive and refilled our water and brought the things we asked for quickly. This is a great spot, I can't wait to return to try some more menu items. Parking nearby can fill up quickly but Santa Monica has plenty of options at a short walk.

Yelp
This is the BEST Mexican food in Los Angeles --- and the best Mexican food I've ever had as someone who's visited the major culinary hotspots globally at least once. The flavor profiles are incredible, authentic and have a distinctly home made but elevated taste that makes you immediately think of an abuelita must be tucked in the kitchen cooking. I came to Sol agave without any expectations -- it was a spur of the moment decision, but it's turned out to be one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in the world. The staff are all so warm, attentive but also chill. Please do yourself a favor and visit this jewel.

Yelp
Food quantity is very Large. Be careful when you order the food, I probably over too much than what I could eat.

Yelp
Really no other Mexican restaurant can compare. Every dish is our fav version of it we've had anywhere. The ingredients are always the best - the fresh fish in the ceviche, the carnitas, chicken mole. Anyway you can tell we're big fans

Billy K.

Yelp
We went there on a Sunday afternoon, it was pleasant and quiet. The food tasted fresh and flavorful. The chips tasted light and airy. Guacamole tasted fresh and so did the seafood. We were filled by the end of lunch and still had enough left over for dinner. Thank you Sol Agave, service was excellent!

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
I would recommend this place for apps and dessert (the butter cake is phenomenal). I wasn't a fan of the sea bass. Felt like the sauce was missing something. The service was very friendly but a bit slow. Nice restaurant set up over all. Very good margaritas.

Adryan R.

Yelp
I came with my gf on this Sunday costumer service 2/10 Food service horrific 2/10 Food 9/10 .. Drinks 9/10 Meanwhile the restaurant was practically empty. We sat down and the waitress took 20 minutes just to bring us water and drinks. We had been there for another 15/20 minutes before our food even came out. Our waiter was not enthused. It's sad because this place is a prime location and should be fabulous. It is not. Go someone else .. I don't know if she was the manager because she brought the different shirt. i used to come in the mornings for brunch but now I don't know if I'll be back.

Karina A.

Yelp
This spot is a vibe I loved the interior and the service was good, we were brought chips right away and had our order taken. I ordered the Taquitos al Gusto and my mom ordered the tacos appetizer (all steak). The taquitos al gusto were so yummy, they were cheesy and crunchy with tons of flavor. I ordered this as my entree and my mom and I both ended up eating from it because she didn't like what she ordered. Unfortunately the steak tacos were super dry & the steak in the tacos had no flavor whatsoever. There were a lot of other things on the menu that looked great but the portions for the entrees are huge so we wanted to get smaller options (which were still big).

Andrea Y.

Yelp
My coworkers and I decided to come during brunch on a Saturday as a year-end celebration and to ring in the new year. I'm so glad they were able to accomodate us even though we didn't have any reservations for a party of 14. Ambiance is fun and felt like we were in Oaxaca. Our server (I think his name's Juan - what the receipt stated) was so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. He always had a smile on his face and engaged with us. Food and drinks were also amazing! The complimentary chips came with a bean dip and salsa and both were good. I ordered the tampiqueña (skirt steak) with enchilada and it was flavorful. It also came with a jalapeño cream soup and it was really good - not spicy. For appetizers we also got guacamole and calamari. I hope i got more photos of the food we ordered! For drinks we got margarita flights, mimosa flights, 3 bottles of chamapgne (they served it with juices to make our own mimosas), and shots of tequila blancos. My favorite drinks were the spicy mango margarita and the watermelon margarita. We also sang "Happy Birthday" for 2 of our coworkers who recently had their birthdays and our server heard - he was so nice and they served us a complimentary dessert and a sparkling candle. We had a great time! Thank you!

Katrina C.

Yelp
Came by here on Cinco de Mayo with my friend. There was no wait surprisingly. We ordered chicken tinga tacos with rice & beans, and a house margarita each. To start we had chips & salsa with bean dip. The chips were fresh, the salsa was delicious, & the beans were warm. Our entree was pretty good. The rice was a little bland, but the black beans stood out. The tacos were alright, they hit the spot. The margarita was very strong! I definitely needed water to chase it down. Overall it was a good experience. I'd come back.

Yelp
Mouth watering, fine, authentic Mexican food. Walking distance from the Santa Monica pier. About 20 or so items on their menu and something for everybody. Plates range from a reasonable 20$ to a worth-the-price 50$. The service was prompt and courteous, the waiter never missed a beat. The ambiance is upbeat , welcoming and energizing. Perfect for a date night or a round with loved ones. Parties over 6 are charged an 18% gratuity

Jai G.

Yelp
Firstly, I have enormous gratitude to Sol Agave for the excellent service for our large group and for allowing us to book a reservation with 11 people without a deposit. The aura of the restaurant is vibrant, the outdoor seating is covered but open to the air. The servers were attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, for vegetarians, despite being an incredibly, incredibly vegetarian friendly restaurant (which I am so appreciative of!), the vegetarian option I tried (the veggie burrito) was simply not tasty. From the choice of vegetables, to the way the beans and rice were spiced and cooked, the burrito tasted somewhat bland and odd, leading to such disappointment I opted not to finish my burrito (which I am not sure I have ever needed to do before).

D L.

Yelp
Magnificent. Beautiful atmosphere. Amazing cocktails. I got a lobster enchilada and it might be up there with the top 3 best lobster dishes I've ever had. I wanted to lick the plate. Shrimp enchilada was really good and more savory than the lobster, but I liked my lobster more Our octopus was the best I've ever had. I just couldn't believe my taste buds. Service was great as well. This is a MUST VISIT. I can't remember the last time I've had a 100/100 experience like this where every dish blew me away.

Tommy N.

Yelp
This restaurant has great Mexican food. Flavors are amazing and quality is very good. We ordered ceviche and grilled octopus to start. Both appetizers were really delicious with lots of flavor and excellent seasoning. For entree, I ordered the steak fajita. It was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, there wasn't as much steak and a lot of bell peppers hidden at the bottom. Margarita cocktail drinks were also very refreshing and yummy. My only issue with this establishment is that portions were quite small for the price. Service was very nice. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Orders also came out well paced. Ambiance has a nice modern Mexican vibe. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Jinny P.

Yelp
Came with a group of friends visiting from NY. The restaurant is closed to Santa Monica Pier. We made reservation at 8:15 on Monday, the restaurant was not busy. The Margarita flight was amazing. We loved ordering flight because you can taste different flavors at once. The taste of Mexico was a bit disappointed. The portion was smaller than expected. But it did have a good presentation. We love the lamb. We couldn't find their own parking and parked in the next building which we thought was theirs as there was a parking sign when you passed the restaurant. They cannot validate parking if you park in the wrong structure.

Michael J.

Yelp
This place has excellent food and service. It's culturally, vibrant and offers unique menu choices. The place is very authentic feeling and a lot of fun to be at. I would highly recommend this for a birthday celebration or a special occasion. We are going back next week to check out the Sunday brunch, so I am looking forward to updating this with the review on that.

Yelp
Beautiful decor! Upon entering the restaurant, greetings shines through the host. Great accommodations for us, once we didn't like the location of seating. The server was very friendly and amazing chips n salsa! We ordered the flank steak breakfast platter, fajitas, breakfast burrito & chilaquiles (green sauce) was the only downfall of the whole meal; the tomatillos were over boiled, which affected the sauce. Which my nine year old tasted immediately. Even to accommodate her palate, we asked for no sauce and that was so delightful along with all the other dishes & drinks. We can't get over the chips, beans & salsa botana!!

Jo S.

Yelp
I liked their location in San Clemente (sans customer service) and the food lured me back to this small local chain for my b-day weekend celebrations! Sol Agave is close to the Pier in Santa Monica, on Ocean Ave, a few minutes away from the bustle and hustle! The restaurant is big, we chose their outdoor patio with nice booth. I wish they would add more Mexican touches with their decor and I am not fan of TV-s in restaurants (you can watch TV at home, right?), the place is airy, modern and the tables aren't close to each other so you can get some privacy. Nice landscaping if you face Ocean Ave. Had to go with their Margarita flight, it is so good and great to share! I forgot how good their chips and salsa are! On top, they have a great bean dip, from the house! We shared the taquiza, 4 street tacos: asada, carnitas, shrimp and chicken that we had at the other location and enjoyed a lot! Very fresh, great variety. We continued with a plate of flautas-s, nice dish, great guac side! Glad we caught them during HH! They have a nice menu! For my b-day dessert I got their churros, they have some caramel sauce inside, they serve it with a sundae and some cinnamon sauce. I got a candle, a sparkle and a serenade! Very nice staff, from the hostess, to Ramon, our servers, everyone was kind, helpful, didn't rush us, brought water to us all the time, made sure we are OK without being annoying. Much better customer service here! The restrooms are nice, clean, huge, cool decor! Sol Agave is a solid choice for your modern Mexican inspired meal. Great food, nice drinks, a solid choice for a celebration or a nice meal out!

Anna Z.

Yelp
Took my boyfriend here on a Thursday night for his birthday. The parking situation was a little unclear, so we ended up parking on the street a few blocks away and walking over. We ordered a tamarindo margarita which tasted delicious. We had shrimp taquitos which were probably our favorite dish, as well as taquiza which was super loaded and phenomenal as well. We were super full from the taquitos and taquiza by the time the chef's special dish, Tacos de Hongo, came out. We ordered the cheese on the side without thinking and it was pretty silly of us to do so. This dish was not as special as I had hoped, but probably due to the cheese not actually being in the skillet. The food was all incredible and the server was friendly and helpful. The ambiance on a Thursday night was definitely post-work vibes, but there were a few families. An outdoor seating area exists and the interior is also pretty spacious.

Chris S.

Yelp
First time trying the restaurant. Been wanting to come here for some time! Started with chips, salsa and bean dip. Bean dip is really tasty. I had a Tamarindo Margarita. It was excellent! My wife had Cafe de Olla. She like it too. The appetizer was the Pulpo a las brasas (octopus). Also good. It was tender and well seasoned. On to the mains. The Chile Verde was savory, spicy and had a satisfying tomatillo flavor. The pork was tender and juicy. The star of the show had to be my wife's seabass. Oh wow, it was better than most seafood restaurants I've been to in the last couple years. Worth getting, tender, flakey but firm, and really tasty! For dessert, I had the Tres Leches cake. My wife had buttercake with ice cream. Both were good, but large. Ended up taking 1/2 of each home Our server was super helpful. Overall, great experience. Tip: While there is underground parking, it is limited. We found a surface public lot on Main St., a block over that was easy and had a direct walkway to the restaurant

Corrado G.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Elevated Mexican food. Make sure to get the loaded nachos, ask for them even if they are not in the menu. with meat added it's a meal on itself, enough food to share for two people.

Sanaz K.

Yelp
They have a great happy hour here. I normally order the margaritas and chicken flautas and both are excellent. The service has been great, the seating is comfortable, and they bring you chips and dips while you wait for your entrees. I've been a couple of times now and it does not disappoint.

Eriko P.

Yelp
Food was Great! Flavorful! Nicely presented. I will return for the food. Cocktails too! I ordered the spicy strawberry margarita and it was delicious. Service was just okay. There were seven of us and we were seated in the front patio, with reservations. It was a warm humid Summer evening, but once I acclimated to the temperature, it was fine. Inside had a nice AC. The piped in music was LOUD, disco loud, which made it difficult to have a conversation. There are TVs showing sports too. Our waiter was polite and matter of fact. When we asked for something outside of the menu, he said, " NO", but when I offered a suggestion, he said he would ask the chef, and in the end we got what we wanted. They do have a nice Happy Hour menu and this is 7 days a week!

Natalie B.

Yelp
We dined here for my mom's birthday and it was amazing! Rita was our server and she was very sweet and helpful! All of us loved our food and can't wait to come back!! Great service all around!

Jamie C.

Yelp
The overall ambiance, service and drinks were the highlights of this Santa Monica mexican restaurant. The food however was hit and miss with our order; the Chile verdes was a hit, but the Famous Carnitas were pretty flavorless. Chips and salsa and beans a hit, but the Steak tacos were dry. Service was friendly , but for food I would order dishes with sauces and toppings to ensure a flavorful experience.

Johnny W.

Yelp
Summary: Solid eats near the water, with an amazing flan Details: While I normally stick to Asian food during my SoCal trips, we were looking for nicer sit-down options near Santa Monica this particular day, and Sol Agave fit the bill nicely, and even more so with a nice, covered patio area. The food, unfortunately, is a bit tougher to rate: though we did enjoy the queso and salsas and chips quite a bit, nothing among their mains really stood out to us as good or bad, except the fish tacos, which were kind of lacking all around. However, we did have the best flan we'd ever tried in our lives, as marketed by our waitress herself, who really sold it, telling us it was not something the chef always had on the menu, and was a must-try whenever it does actually show up: rich, thick, and creamy, without being overly sweet, and nothing like that gelatinous/custardy/pudding-like stuff you'd find in most spots. Accessibility: Huge space with plenty of accessible seating options.

In A Nutshell: -This Sol Agave location is really chill. -There are plenty of spaces inside & outside the restaurant to enjoy your meal. -I ordered their mini-taco sampler & it will definitely fill you up. -You get pork, beef, shrimp & chicken mini-tacos for a decent price. -I also love their chips & salsa, the chips come out nice, hot, oily & crispy. Overall, this is a really nice Mexican restaurant located in Santa Monica just across the beach.

Yelp
Sol Agave is our go to when we want margaritas! Their margarita flights are unique and tasty! From tamarind, watermelon, mango to cucumber, each had it's own unique taste! The food here has been good as well. My favorite is one we just tried recently which was the pork belly bites. Perfect ratio of fat to pork and cooked and seasoned well. I could have ate half the plate by myself! The ceviche was tasty with bits of octopus, scallops and fish. The calamari is also one of our go to dishes when we come. There is a good amount of calamari that is lightly fried and comes with two dipping sauces and a lemon. The restaurant is a nice place to have a family meal and relax. They do have TVs to watch games on and a bar area. Bathroom were clean and service was consistent. I will definitely be coming back again!!

Yelp
I give five stars to food, service and ambience at Sol Agave! This is the second time I've eaten there and the service is excellent, quick and efficient. But on to the entrees. Delicious and delectable Chili Colorado is so good, made with mouth/watering, slow braised short ribs. I ordered it both times I've been there. The short rib Taquitos Al Gusto were perfection, so crispy and meaty. I would've never guessed taquitos would be something I'd order again again, but I would no problem. The drinks were brought promptly and very good Margarita. My son had the Famous carnitas which was very good, but he loved the remnants from my Chili Colorado. There was plenty! Oh, the tortilla chips and little taste of frijoles and salsa were fabulous. (Side note: At Sol Agave in downtown LA the chips weren't as homemade tasting as the ones in Santa Monica and San Juan Capistrano). All in, love this restaurant.

Yelp
My very first time here. There's a large bar, lots of indoor seating and an outdoor seating that is glass enclosed so You feel safe from the passerby's. Staff very accompanying and great diving on happy hour drinks and food. Can't wait to return. Self parking avail w 90 min validation ...just make sure you park in the right building because there's a Starbucks building next door which is totally different .

Yelp
4.5 star worthy. Very tasty and unique entrees. We were super hungry and were happy to start with chips and salsa. The salsas were both good, one tomato based and one more like a bean dip. We shared the short ribs and the lobster enchiladas. The lobster with cheese and crème -- so yummy. And the short ribs had a nice flavor profile and light kick. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
The service is good, the wait staff are friendly and aim to please. The food is is fresh and delicious. The skinny margarita is made from fresh ingredients versus the pre-made mix! So good. Happy hour is available. Tortilla chips are crispy and warm.

Yelp
Some friends discovered Sol Agave and took me for a weekend lunch. We loved the food, drinks and the attentive wait staff. I have taken a number of friends for a first visit and they all were very impressed. One couple told me it's their new favorite!!! Very interesting menu. Highly recommend Sol Agave for lunch or dinner. They do not disappoint.

Yelp
Slow service, ok good, and drink order was wrong... we got a margarita instead of the old fashioned we ordered.

Yelp
I was here with friends recently.for my birthday celebration. What a great experience with Lauren, the bartender! The customer service was excellent. We shared calamari & nachos. They were both delicious. The margaritas were super tasty with the appetizers. Lauren & the staff did a a yummy birthday desert with sparklers. The ambience blended perfectly with the great appetizers. Kindly acknowledge Lauren & the staff for a really enjoyable birthday experience. :)

Yelp
Coming from the central coast we aren't really exposed to many of the better small restaurant chains that exist in larger metro areas. Sol Agave really fits this bill. They've got 6-7 locations, mostly in LA and OC and we are really glad we found the one in Santa Monica! The food here is definitely a cut above with rich flavors and creative interpretations of true Mexican cuisine. Not the standard tacos and burritos, these dishes represent the great culinary history of Mexican cooking. We went with the amazing Chile Colorado; Slow-braised prime short ribs in a red roasted chile and beer sauce. Seeing the portion size on this dish our table of 3 opted to order the Chile Colorado as our main dish and then compliment it with a few appetizers. We went for the Guacamole sampler, which was excellent and had three wonderful guacs: lobster, classic and, carnitas, ( carnitas was the bomb). We also had a dish called "sugar cane filet'. An unusual dish ( for Mexican cuisine) that's essentially center cut tenderloin medallions marinated with orange chipotle sauce served over white rice, topped with mango and tamarind glaze. It's wonderful. Meat was flavorful and tender, cooked perfectly mid-rare. The sauce was amazing g but there could have been more of it. The last item was the pork belly bites. This one fell a bit flat. Some nice sauces but pretty plain flash fried pork belly chunks. There are so many great things in the menu this one can be passed up. Overall though, the food was awesome here and the service was spot on. Prices are average for the area ( Santa Monica) maybe even a little low considering :-). Would be happy to try any of the other locations based on this visit.

Yelp
Big upscale Mexican restaurant near the Santa Monica Pier with free parking like right around the corner (which we used and it was cool .) Started with the Tamarind Margarita and also had the Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita which was delicious, get that. My friend had an Old Fashioned called Jefe's Old Fashioned- but don't make the mistake of calling it Jeff's Old Fashioned ! Because it's pronounced differently. We started with the Guacamole Sampler . Wow ,definitely get this . Delicious fresh and original Guacamole and one of them has lobster in it. Delicious. We also had the Calamari which had a unique green dipping sauce. This was good too. My main was the Enchiladas Camaron and I'm really glad I got it. Lots of pieces of seafood inside and rice too, I ended up taking home half of it and it still tasted good even cold from the fridge. My friend got Tacos Hongo but I think next time would try the Carnitas or Steak Fajitas . Staff are attentive and helpful and lively. Nice spot near Santa Monica beach
