If you live in the area then you already know about SOL. Food is delicious. Great selection of food and drink. Something for everyone. Staff is friendly and dogs are welcome. Even at the bar. Kids love the tuna pops. I've tried a few things but can't get past the steak quesadilla. Stop by in the afternoon and sit on the patio. For those who don't imbibe the mock tails are very enjoyable. In the winter it can get a little loud inside. Sound bounces off the concrete floor. Outside can't be beat for 3 season enjoyment. Wanted to update my review. SOL probably has the best steak quesadilla in the low country. I know. You are going to say "dude. What about Taco Boy??!" Yes Taco Boy is brilliant. And they do a lot of things top notch. I am not saying SOL is #1 above and beyond everyone else, but if you are in the 29466 and you find you need some good Tex Mex - stop in. Also if you like this kind of thing just learned they make their own jalapeño infused tequila. Wife loved it.

We recently visited SOL in Mt. Pleasant for a casual dinner. Overall, the experience was just okay, nothing terrible, but nothing particularly memorable either. My wife had the chicken enchiladas, which came in a generous portion, but the flavor was just average. Not bad, not great. My chicken sandwich was fine, but frankly, I’d prefer Chick-fil-A over it in terms of flavor. On the other hand, our son ordered a cheeseburger and he really enjoyed it. Service was solid, attentive but not overbearing. Drinks were good, and we sat outside, which was nice thanks to the pleasant weather. There was some road noise, but it didn’t ruin the atmosphere. The indoor space looked very nice as well, so that’s something we might consider for next time. In summary, it was an acceptable experience, but not one we’d rush to repeat. Worth a try if you’re nearby, but there are better spots in town if you’re looking for standout flavors.

We went probably what most people consider a lunch time. I ordered a Texas Burger and fries and it was outstanding! My friend ordered a chicken Chipotle quesadilla and it was great as well. The server was polite and friendly and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend.

SOL caught my eye a few times passing by from the exterior and overall look. Decided to try it out for lunch. The restaurant was empty. We were seated and placed our order. chips and salsas are extra not complimentary. The interior is a large space but has very few tables. It seemed like it might have been another restaurant at one point, not sure, but as it appeared “worn” and could use some sprucing up. I mean this not in terms of cleanliness but overall decor and appearance. Food arrived and both myself and the person I was having lunch with were surprised. I ordered a quesadilla and when it arrived it looked like 4 toaster strudels with the frosting drizzle on top. The other person ordered beef tacos but got shrimp. The waitress took the wrong order away and offered noticing in the interim for the person…no chips, no apology, nothing. So I ate my lunch in front of her as she waited for hers to arrive. It did and was correct but no compensation whats so ever. The food was good. However, sides are extra. It was fresh and served hot but it was pricey for what we got. $17 for a quesadilla and $7 per taco. SOL wouldn’t be my choice for Mexican food given the service, atmosphere, and prices.

Google
The restaurant was empty. The atmosphere was eerie, food was fine but so expensive! You get 3 shrimp on an 8$ taco! Go anywhere else for good Mexican. Would not come back or recommend

We have been in Mt Pleasant for 6 months and have made our way around to several local establishments trying different foods. As a business consultant, here’s the unbiased low down on SOL. For Lunch on Saturday it was empty, 1 big table, and 2 couples at 2 booths. Our Waitress was attentive and pretty much spot on and the positive in this review. I first laughed at the 1/2” board menu she handed us which you better be ready for because they’re 5 lbs.🤦🏻‍♂️ Food- let me just say I know it’s Mt P and higher in the area but their prices are pricy and No free chips and salsa here folks. $8 if you want them. We ordered 1 chik taco and 1 shrimp Taco. They were good but $7 ea is Crazy! About $1.20-$1.50 food cost per taco, they are priced quite high. The chicken quesadilla was good but again, at $17 we were in sticker shock And that’s with no sides. We had an appetizer and 3 drinks. Total with tip was over $65. Atmosphere- was ok but felt large empty and cold. restaurants should be warm and inviting, it isn’t. It raised an eyebrow how dead it was for lunch. Wait staff- was great and on point. Loved the check in and refilling and not over bearing. Best part of the visit. Overall it was an experience. Food was ok but nothing to talk to our friends and neighbors about. Whether this helps or not I believe SOL owners would benefit reviewing their price point. There’s no way a family of 5 is dropping $100 on Mexican and thinking about coming back any time soon. You are better off selling 20 tacos at $5 than 4 at $7. We tried it but won’t be back for 2nds.

Google
We recently had a laid-back supper at SOL in Mount Pleasant. All in all, the experience was merely mediocre—nothing bad, but nothing especially noteworthy either. Although the portion size of my wife's chicken enchiladas was substantial, the flavor was only mediocre. Not terrible, but not outstanding. Although my chicken sandwich was good, in terms of flavor, I would much rather eat Chick-fil-A. Our son, on the other hand, got a cheeseburger and loved it. The service was good; it was attentive without being intrusive. The weather was lovely, so we sat outside and enjoyed some wonderful drinks. Road noise was present, but it didn't detract from the mood. We might take that into consideration for the future time because the interior area also looked really good. In conclusion, it was a passable experience that we wouldn't hasten to have again. It's worth a try if you live close by, but if you want unique flavors, there are better places in town.

Google
Very unique dining experience. The food was amazing. There are plenty of drink options. I had the Texas BBQ burger, and it was cooked exactly how I ordered it. The menu had several options, which is great because we have picky eaters. There is something for everyone. Jason was our server, and he made our experience even better. He was very friendly, prompt, and made our experience memorable. If you're looking for something different, I highly recommend checking out this place.

Yelp
Super sweet waitress Kilee. Did a great job. Very friendly and welcoming Food was good and cocktails were great. Would recommend

Yelp
Good indoor atmosphere they also have a patio. ;Service is usually great and the food is ok/good. TBH we eat out a lot and this place doesn't really land on our frequently visited list.

Yelp
SOL is a nice-looking restaurant both inside and out with plenty of parking to fill the entire large establishment. Everyone was friendly and the service was very good. I ordered the Marinated Skirt Steak which is a Wood-fire grilled steak with a citrus soy marinade. The steak had an excellent smokey yet sweetish flavor but could/should have been pounded a bit more as it was a little tough (as skirt steaks can be). The steak came out on the rare side although I ordered it medium. The grilled vegetables the dish came with were excellent. My buddy started with a side of chips pineapple salsa. The chips were good, but the salsa would have been better served on a fish taco. He also ordered and enjoyed the Pork al Pastor rice bowl. The dish contained nicely cooked carnitas pork, pineapple salsa, black beans, corn, guacamole, and or course rice. Overall a solid but not spectacular lunch

Yelp
What's not to love about a $12.00 lunch at SOL? There are five specials (I've had the chicken taco salad and the soup/salad combo) that are fresh, well portioned and delish. The interior is bright with cool vibes and the service is attentive. Want more choices? The standard menu has selections for all dining preferences. If you're in Mt. Pleasant and looking to break up your lunch routine ... go!

Yelp
Our waitress was Caroline & she was awesome! Thank you for a great night & answering all our questions. Queso was nice & thick with a great taste. We chose the chunky salsa, which was good. My family tried the tuna lollipops & liked their unique taste. I tried the sweet potato & black bean enchiladas, I liked them. My hubby had the steak quesadilla & it was huge! The restaurant was nice and everything was great! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Service was amazing. Wide variety of specialty margaritas. Food just so so. We only ate appetizers this time since we had eaten before.

Yelp
Great place, go to place on crowded Charleston weekends. Food, Beer, Drinks are all excellent. Have never had a less than great meal.

Yelp
Sat at the bar for happy hour and had the veggie nachos ($7), they were really good and filling. Jalapeño adds a big kick! The queso I feel could use some salt or something, but it was still very good. Their margaritas are always really great, I usually get the blackberry one. Their skinny margarita is $7 for happy hour and they have some good drinks on the menu. Fisher and Sidney were the bartenders, they were both SO attentive and nice. I don't like when I'm constantly asked by servers/bartenders if I need anything else and I appreciated that they did not do this. They checked on me just the right amount of times and you can tell they care about customers having a good experience. Nice place for solo, date night, or with friends. Would definitely return!

Yelp
Went early on a taco Tuesday and was sat right away without reservations. Nice open airy restaurant, very large bar and outside seating has heaters. I had the cucumber jalapeño margarita and spicy skinny margarita. My husband had ocho tequila straight (nice tequila menu selection). Street corn, served on the cob in 4 small pieces, was delicious. Nice char marks and perfect amount of cheese and flavoring. I had the Sol rice bowl with roasted vegetables which was tasty and filling. Purposely did not get chips and still had food to take home. My husband got the southwest fiesta salad with agave lime dressing and chicken. He was happy with it. My toddler ignored his cheese quesadilla that I took home and microwaved for myself hours later... it was delicious. Kid friendly: placemat with crayons and highchairs Nice big bar. Good for family dinner, date night, meet for a drink

Yelp
Nice location. Quick service as all the food came out in 10-15 minutes. All the food was really good. Carne Asada fries were a bit salty. Drinks were good, we got a take home cup because National Margarita Day!

Jill J.

Yelp
Best queso in SC! Also poppers are crazy good w crispy bacon wrapped perfectly around them! Actually everything we've had here has been amazing and we are HUGE fans!!
google avatar

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Service was great thank you/--. She was very patient with our deciding what we wanted. We did already decide on drinks tho! Drinks were awesome and the food was delish. It wasn't at all crowded but there was a table of rowdy women that we couldn't even hear our own talk to each other!! Must've been celebrating something or someone
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the rice bowls! Only stopped by to pick up take out orders but the place looked nice and the people were friendly.

Yelp
Sol Mt Pleasant is still a great spot to catch a game at the bar or dine in. The bar area is always hopping. The mixology here is fantastic as well as the staff always positive vibes and cheerful!! Whether you just want an appetizer or full meal, the southwest flavors are incredible I enjoy the green chicken enchiladas and SOL Trio!! Still 5 Stars !!

Yelp
My husband and I have been hiding out in Mount Pleasant since our home city was devastated by Helene. It's our last night here so my husband let me pick any restaurant that would make me happy. I thought the menu looked fun, so we checked out Sol on a whim. It was seriously the best restaurant we've visited in ages. Mason was informative, professional and so charming! What an awesome mixologist! The food was insanely good and way tastier than any of the pricey tourist traps on Isle of Palms. The mezcal flight was super fun. The salmon dish was UNREAL and the street corn was killer. All in all, Sol turned our frowns upside down. Thank you for the wonderful food and exceptional service. I might come back tomorrow to get some of the street corn to take back to the mountains with us

Yelp
Shrimp and Grits was really good and the queso was pretty good as well. The food came out quick and the server was very kind

Yelp
Last night the four of us went to SOL. My daughter, her husband and my husband. After a little shuffle finding my daughter who was seated way in the back with the help of the manager we all settled. It's a big space with a beautiful big bar but it goes on and on including an outdoors patio. We ordered our drinks, my daughter and I had the house margarita. My daughter who has been to Mexico declared it was as good or better than anything she had had in Mexico. I agreed so I had two. My son in law ordered the beef burrito, my husband the vegetable quesadilla and my daughter the flank steak quesadilla and for me the beef burrito. Everyone was very happy with their meals. They were all very good. It made me wonder why we don't go here more often. I think we will. Lots of good menu options to try. Oh and the service was very quick. Go, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yelp
We came to Sol for a quick lunch bite and a drink during a rainy South Carolina day. They have a great covered patio where despite the weather you can still enjoy being outside. We ordered the nachos to share and a few tacos, overall the food was good, a bit too much sauce but good flavors. My wife loved the spicy margarita the best she has had since moving to South Carolina. I enjoyed the black diamond margarita very good and my mother in law had her typical Tito's and vodka. The service was great and we will definitely be back for drinks as the tequila options are never ending.

Yelp
Tried this place while on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised no pun intended. Place was packed full of people but were seated right away. One of Hostesses greeted us while the other appeared to be texting on her phone and couldn't be bothered. Once seated our server took very good care of us. She was very sweet and on the ball. Fast, prompt, and answered any questions about the menu we had. Drinks, appetizers, and food brought out quickly. I ordered the southwest shrimp and grits. It was outstanding! It was cooked to perfection. This is a meal I'm going to try and replicate at home. I've had this meal countless times but their take was on another level in my opinion. Loved it. I do recommend this place if you're in Mt. Pleasant.
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
My husband got the shrimp and grits. It was very flavorful and delicious!! I had the tuna salad & that was amazing too. The vinaigrette for the salad was tasty! Their queso & guac is delicious. Simply a delightful evening for our last night of vacation.
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
Excellent food love the grilled veggies of zucchini, cherry tomatoes, red onion and an order of grilled sweet potatoes also a blackened tuna taco filled with fresh coleslaw with pineapples and the best have habanera sauce! Jason was good.... The only reason I didn't give more than 3 stars was because the entry way into the front door is filthy dirty floor and we almost walked back out but we were so hungry from sightseeing and travel in Charleston South Carolina we ate... my GF said she hopes that wasnt a reflection of the kitchen!!
google avatar

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Big bar. Good drinks - they do have tastings at times which is a plus. Food not consistent, but pineapple salsa excellent. When they have music it is a nice touch. Overall a bit over priced and older crowd.
google avatar

Thomas H.

Yelp
Camw here with a large group. They had a great spot for us, and the server was absolutely on point! She was great! The chips, salsa, and queso were good, but the food was not. Many people in our party mentioned how bland the food was. The street corn tasted like it was cooked on the same grill as other foods because there was flavor mixing going on. The street corn was also overcooked, so the char was steong. I had the chicken enchiladas, and they were the most bland and boring tasting food I've ever had. The chicken was dry, as well. We were not impressed with the overpriced items and will not be back.
google avatar

John K E.

Yelp
As other reviewers have noted, this restaurant is just a parking lot away from the hotel that we were staying at-- and we were both in the mood for margaritas. Physically, this place is huge, and it has televisions galore, all of them tuned on this particular evening to some sports event or other. There was a good turnout at the bar, and the drinks were good, along with the queso dip that we had with them. Service was slow, but what we found curious is that no one on the staff visited our end of the bar for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Perhaps they are short staffed, but it is never good business practice for a bar or restaurant to ignore its customers for such long periods of time.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Food great as was service but entire meal and experience was ruined by a group of 20 or so kids plus their oblivious parents. The kids were literally SCREAMING at each other for the entire time we were there. Manager listened to our feedback and was "well - nothing we can do. Sorry. " I suggest you pick a table not near the back - which is where they apparently sit big parties.
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink and an appetizer at the bar! All the servers there are amazing and friendly. Great customer service! The margaritas are amazing!
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
Overall: While not a great choice, Sol still has plenty to offer with a good-sized outdoor patio. The good: They have a good menu selection from both a drink and food perspective. The cocktails we had hit the spot, especially with the outdoor patio. The firecracker shrimp app was also great - the shrimp were breaded lightly and had a fiery sauce, but neither were overwhelming. They were also larger than expected, which was nice. The service was friendly and attentive, and they're open later than other local spots. The not-so-good: The food, specifically the lobster quesadilla, was a miss. It wasn't the size we expected (a roll instead of what you typically think of a quesadilla being), and there wasn't much filling in it. The flavor was fine, but nothing extraordinary. Given the price (for both the quesadilla and the shrimp), we expected better (or, lower prices). The table we sat at was also sticky and so were the floors. Food/drink: 7/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Service: 8/10
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
The food and service were both good, but the spices were overwhelming for me. I saw a lot of mixed reviews for Sol but figured I'd still give it a try. I went around 7 on a Monday and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated right away and our server was very attentive. I ordered the Blackberry Limeade but didn't taste the alcohol at all. The drink tasted fine otherwise. I ordered the bison burger and asked for it medium. It was cooked as I asked but it was a bit more spicy than I wanted. My boyfriend ordered the carnitas Napoleon tower but it was a bit too spicy for him as well. I think the service, price, and presentation were all done nicely...but the taste just wasn't to our liking. If you are looking for a lot more spice to your food, this is the place for you!
google avatar

Patti D.

Yelp
Would give 4.5 stars if possible. Service is always excellent. Love the outdoor covered area. Came for brunch today but have been many times in the past for brunch, lunch and dinner. Have never had a bad meal. One of my favorite brunch spots. They don't take reservations but I eat at off times so have never had an issue. Today, we enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros and the cowboy burrito. Both delicious and nice serving sizes with fair prices.

Yelp
Great service and amazing ambiance. It's a quick stop from Boone Hall Plantations. Amazing food. We had tacos, quesadillas, shrimp and creamy melt in mouth grits
google avatar

Yelp
Food, drinks, and service were amazing! Wish I tried it sooner. The margaritas are great. Steak skewer app is a must have. And the tacos are out of the world.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my go to when I can't decide. This restaurant has such a great, tasty variety. 10/10 recommend. My favorite: Brunch tacos Dinner bang bang shrimp tacos
google avatar

Dijon F.

Yelp
We ate here to celebrate my birthday and the food was very good. We had tacos, elote, and rice and beans. The drink was okay, we had to add lemonade to it as it wasn't that good. If I'm back in Mt. Pleasant I'd eat here again.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
This place is in a really convenient location for many neighborhoods & nearby hotels to walk to, but I feel like you sacrifice some food quality for the convenience. In my bang bang shrimp bowl the shrimp was good, but the rice was undercooked and dry - not worth paying $16 for. The chips & drink were good though! Their salsa was very good and fresh and they know what spice is, which is something I find hard to come by at many restaurants

Emma Kate S.

Yelp
I love the environment because it is so welcoming and the ambiance is fantastic!! P.S. The hostesses are so nice and the food is amazing!
google avatar

Lori C.

Yelp
It was alright. It had a fun vibe. The bison burger and enchiladas were good. The cocktails were not consistent. My blood orange margarita had a great flavor but very weak. The grapefruit habanero margarita was soooo strong. I didn't even mention that the first one was weak. It literally tasted like a splash of grapefruit and the rest was tequila. I would have liked them to be more balanced.
google avatar

Marty S.

Yelp
Came tonight for belated birthday dinner. First time here in 62 years! The guacamole isn't as good as mine (bride stated unequivocally)chips a plenty. The street corn 2 ears, each cut in half - was very tasty. Had Boom Boom Shrimp n Rice Bowl (fluffy!!!) Carnitas Verde Pork Tower (yum) & Hardwood Salmon (heard No complaints) Also had the "Perfect Margarita". Well, two. Delicious and worthy of the name. The dessert is yet to come.
google avatar

Tracy B.

Yelp
The food is delicious! I was with a group of friends and we ordered a bunch of things to share. Everything was fresh and tasty. My only complaint is that the prices are high....I know that inflation is making the price of everything go up, and this is Mount Pleasant, but even a few years ago we felt this restaurant was pricey for what it is.
google avatar

Anthony J.

Yelp
DOWNHILL. Stopped in for a drink. Bartender couldn't make a Manhattan for shitttt. It taste like rusty water with a solace of battery acid. DON'T GO pls.....!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Great happy hour and food! The patio is nice, covered and dog friendly. Good attentive staff.
google avatar

Erik B.

Yelp
It's good but not great Mexican food. For the price there are a lot better options in the area.

Courtney B.

Yelp
It was so good we can back twice in two days. Highly recommend the Diablo margarita. The flautas are especially delicious. Basically EVERYTHING was great. Our bartender Fisher was the absolute best. As out of town-ers, he was incredibly kind and recommended local activities for us to try. This place is a gem!
google avatar

Marc P.

Yelp
Love their chicken chimichanga and the carnitas tower. They have a great covered patio if you have a dog and the weather is marginal. Tacos are also very good.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Our first time here while vacationing in Charleston, SC. Food and service were great. We started with chips and salsa, and then had the Mexican street corn. Apps were fantastic. Our entrees included the surf and turf fajitas and the shrimp tacos. Both entrees were superb, and just the right amount of food. Unfortunately, we were too full to order desert. Maybe next time? We would dine here again and would recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Marcelena S.

Yelp
Just tried this place out last Friday for the second time. Happy hour some drinks and small bites. I was glad to be able to get a seat at the bar being that it was so terribly busy... of course happy hour. The prices and drinks were great, food was pretty decent too. I'm not a huge fan of how really loud it is throughout the whole restaurant and also that a couple bartenders looked less than happy to be working behind the bar. Being an Ex bartender myself Attitude is "everything"! I will definitely visit this place again in the future. It's fun, popular and has a good vibe. Peace

Yelp
We've only had takeout from SOL but they are amazing. We had Chimichanga, salad and chips with guacamole and pineapple salsa. The food was well prepared and full of flavor. The salsa and guacamole were both fresh. While we didn't eat at the restaurant, we did swing in to pick it up. The location was very clean and the service staff were polite and professional. The feel of the space was a causal and inviting restaurant that could be a nice start to an evening or a family dinner location.

Yelp
We were in Charleston South Carolina recently and I had a taste for some good Mexican food, so we started looking through yelp to find a good spot. After reviewing all of the post we settled on the SOL Southwest Kitchen restaurant in Mount Pleasant . My first clue to my pending disappointment should have been the menu. It was very small with limited choices. There were no combination plates and no burrito offerings. Also to my surprise they did not serve retried beans . My wife ordered 2 tacos and their only option was soft. Again no refried beans, what they served were black beans over rice. I ordered the chicken Enchiladas with green and red sauce. The Waitress brought our drinks and we asked about chips an salsa? That ended up being an extra side. And what they served was awful. The chips were stale and the salsa was the very chunky kind that was right out of a can. I also ordered a cup of street corn soup, which ended up being the highlight of the meal. It was thick, hot and very flavorful . But back to the enchiladas they were awful. The sauce was bland , the chicken filling was soggy and had little or no flavor. Not only was it tasteless it was very visually unappealing . I could go on and on, but let me end by saying I've had better Mexican meals at Taco Bell !

J B.

Yelp
Sunday evening was not that busy but took a long time to get food. but the icing on the cake was my enchilada was a little dry and asked for some more sauce for it and was charged for it on my bill. should have just returned them instead. On top of that the chips were stale.
