Where to Eat or Drink for Support Black-Owned Restaurant Week - Eater Portland

"Solae’s Lounge is often associated with live jazz or blues, but it is also praised for its soul food offerings, including gizzards and collard greens. It will host live jazz in honor of Support Black-Owned Restaurant Week." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This is a wonderful little place. The service is fast and the bartender is very nice and friendly. The food is absolutely delicious, it's a remarkable taste experience. There's always Blues or Soul music playing and the bands are really good. The atmosphere is not trendy, sophisticated, or chic, but it is cozy, warm, and comfortable. Overall, it's an enjoyable place, full of Louisiana style, southern charm and I'd strongly recommend it.

Nice venue. Wide enough to let you have some elbow room. Good layout. Nicely lit stage. Very attentive bartenders! Stiff enough drinks, nice selection of top shelf. Ordered fries at midnight. They were not awesome (change that fryer oil and shake or blot the fries to get excess oil off), but the food we saw leaving the kitchen generally looked great.

Love this place. The house jazz band Friday nights is outta sight. Best 'no cover' live music I've found in Portland. Great food too, for what they're trying to do.

Let me tell you, Ox Tails, Ox Tails, Ox Tails. Just like mom used to make. The food is absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere of this place is amazing. The live bands take it to the next level. If you have not visited Solae's you are missing out on a great environment and delicious food.

Food was not good. Main server was unattentive. Let us order mozzarella sticks without mentioning there was no marinara sauce then asked if we wanted ranch....music is good nice atmosphere for chilling but eat before hand.

Great vibe: live music, especially jazz and R&B. Love Dialog on Thursdays-the guys throw down. One of the most diverse spots in town. Good food, dancing, large outdoor "patio". Friendly bar staff, owner is local. Those who know...

Last black owned establishment on the incredibly gentrified Alberta Street. Great stage with live music, pool room and fabulous outdoor patio with fire pits. And the guy in the kitchen seems to make everything with a lot of heart.
