I visited this rooftop cocktail bar in downtown Richmond, and WOW what an incredible experience! The entire space was transformed into a festive holiday wonderland, from the colorful ceiling lights to the candy cane decor and sparkling red accents. It felt like stepping right into a grown-up North Pole. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the setup was perfect for relaxing with friends or taking great holiday photos. A special shoutout to our server, Kat, who made the night even better. She was super friendly, attentive, and genuinely added to the warm vibe of the place. Amazing service goes a long way, and Kat definitely delivered. If you’re in Richmond and want a fun, festive rooftop spot, this place is a must-visit!

Such a magical rooftop! The Christmas decorations are absolutely stunning and instantly put you in the holiday spirit. The seasonal cocktails were delicious—festive, creative, and perfect for the vibe. Kat, the bartender, was great and spreading positive energy everywhere. And the churros? Honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a cozy holiday spot with great drinks and even better ambiance, this place is a must!

Spent New Years Eve here. A wonderful time. Great ambiance, good food & drinks. Bartenders Kat & Jonathan were great and the DJ was awesome!!! Beautiful city skyline views and very nice venue. Highly recommended!!!

Kat was our bartender and she was amazing! Good banter and kept us thoroughly entertained. The place was beautifully decorated for the holidays, one of the BEST holiday pop-ups we've been to!

My girlfriend and I came for the holiday pop and it was SOOOO good. the effort of the decoration really showed and the holiday drinks were so good too. Kat at the bar really hooked us up and did us RIGHT, the whole experience was wonderful.

I was in Richmond for a Reunion and stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown. Imagine my surprise, and joy, to find there was a rooftop bar. I ran up (I was staying one floor below it), checked out the view and grabbed a salad. I had the Kale Caesar salad with chick peas and shaved Parmesan. It two generous portions of chicken that was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I ended up getting two meals out of it. There was a bit of a wait for the food, since it was Friday evening, but everyone checked in to make sure I have been served. I was even offered a glass of water. I went back the following day to take pictures and saw that they were setting up for some type of reception, which would be a great venue. Since it was early in the day, I was able to get great pictures of the view and the overall patio area. Sadly, I didn't get to spend a lot of time there to sit and enjoy. But I will definitely make plans to visit again.

Went to Solaire Rooftop Bar for a late birthday celebration with my girls and it did not disappoint! The vibe was everything—elegant, upscale, and effortlessly chic. We loved the energy of the space, from the stylish patio setup to the stunning view of the Richmond city skyline. The food was delicious, and the cocktails? Absolutely amazing. It’s the perfect spot for a celebration or a night out when you want to feel a little fancy. Can’t wait to go back!

Went on a Thursday evening and it wasn’t very busy so we were able to get a seat outside. Staff were all friendly and service was good. Views were nice and a nice atmosphere. Drinks were good and we just had a plate of truffle fries to pick on. They were nice crisp and tasty as well. Overall it was a great time and we would go back. I read a few bad google reviews and I can kind of see where some of them come from or could be an issue on a busy night (but wasn’t for us). Entrance is off the street and you have to go through post office entrance to a bank of elevators on the left (there’s signs inside). The QR system for drink ordering was convenient but maybe all the kinks aren’t worked out? The bartender came out once out of 2 rounds to ask us to confirm one drink and it wasn't a big deal like they weren’t sure where it should go. The drinks do not come out super quick….on a busy night could be worse. My friend commented on the music at one point, which others had in reviews. It wasn’t boring or sleepy though. Just somewhere in electronic genre and if that’s not what your used to or your vibe, you might notice it. Maybe they are trying to find their identity a bit still? Maybe having different music nights might help suit different tastes.

I just happen to be staying at the Hilton hotel in downtown Richmond, and stumbled upon this place The food was quite tasty. I had the fried chicken with a salad and brussels sprouts. Everything was cooked perfectly. The bartenders Kat and Johnathan were very personable and friendly. The drinks were pretty good as well. The manager Tina was very knowledgeable about places to go and see in the area. It was definitely a good experience Buddy

The whole place was decorated gingerbread house style(the week before Thanksgiving). It was wild! I loved it. Kat provided great service and drinks. It was an experience for sure! Definitely recommend.

Stopped into Solaire while in Richmond before heading to a concert at the National. I wanted to find a place with a rooftop to enjoy the beautiful weather with a view. The vibe is chic but relaxed, and the view is absolutely gorgeous! Definitely one of the highlights of dining here. The inside is small, but the outdoor seating wraps around and there is so much room, spaciously spread out. I went with the Mediterranean plate and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. Paired it with an espresso martini (of course), that was smooth and well balanced (not overly sweet like some places make them). My girlfriend had a spritz and the shrimp cups. Both were light and refreshing. The only downfall was the service. It felt like we were bothering the bartender when we ordered our drink, and there was little to no interaction. Between the food, drinks, and that view, it's the kind of place that works equally well for a date night or grabbing a bite with friends

It was disappointing to visit on Labor Day weekend for rooftop drinks, only to find the doors locked at 3 PM with patrons inside. The host explained that they already did last call because the bartenders were tired and wanted to go home. There was no notice on the website or social channels about the early closure. This lack of communication and planning is extremely unprofessional. Guests don't come for excuses; they come for a consistent experience. If staffing can't support posted hours, then operations should be adjusted in advance, not after customers arrive. Experiences like this reflect poorly not only on the establishment but on Richmond's ability to compete with other major cities. A business cannot succeed if it treats patrons as an afterthought.

Top floor of a Hilton property, guessing some of the visitors are guests of the hotel. The space is very nice and lounge-y, chill vibe. There is a great view of the James River and all the way to Byrd Park. Since they had just opened a couple of months ago, I suppose there are still kinks to workout. The service is attentive and the food was good, though the menu seems to be a work in progress. Curious to visit again for the sunset.

Totally felt da Christmas vibe! The host was pleasant and charming... the wait table staff was super nice and helpful, they kept checking on us to make sure all was well. Definitely a great vibe... and a delicious drink!!!

Great atmosphere, and great drinks. The venue was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holiday which made our visit extra special. Scanning the qr code made ordering easy, and our orders came quickly.

What a treat to spend the evening with friends at the merrily happy Solaire. The drinks were great. I loved the mistletoe mule. The bartenders were kind and made me a homemade Hot Toddy. I appreciate the kind staff and positive energy. It's a great way to usher in the weekend.

Had a truly great experience. The rooftop is cozy and has heaters to stay warm, the holiday pop-up and coffee cocktails were a whole vibe!! And the the brussel sprouts were amazing

We stopped by for a happy hour since it had just recently opened. The place is very well designed and the rooftop area is huge. There are great views of the city which really adds to the feel of the place. Our servers took a while to warm up and seemed put off by the customers at first. We later realized the staff was new so when you asked a questions it wasn't unusual to hear "I'm not sure, this is my first day". I was disappointed that they don't serve Chardonnay at all. That's just odd to not have any since that's a popular type of wine. We also had the BBQ chicken skewers along with cole slaw. They were tasty but I felt they were a little overpriced especially for a happy hour menu.

Best Service, drinks, and holiday atmosphere! Kat and Gabe were great. Exceeded my expectations in every way and would recommend to anyone looking for a holiday spot in the Richmond area.

The ambiance alone is what would make me come back here. They do have a decent happy hour and they have Brussels sprouts on it. Their watermelon jalepeno cooler was also tasty. This is one of the nicest rooftops in RVA that I have been to so far. The service was good as well. And they have swings up there too!!!

What a fun Holiday pop up bar! Decorations are so beautiful and Kat at the bar was an absolute delight. Can't wait to come back!

Very chill. Cute vibe. AMAZING pictures to be taken. $5 mimosas all day on Sundays. The people are pretty nice. Not too busy yet, but I think they just opened back up. Pixie was sooo sweet got us what we needed in great time with no hassle. Me and my partner definitely be back.

The view is amazing, first and foremost and that's why people go there! Games for kids and adults too make it a fun vibe. Drinks are "normally" priced. Our server was delightful (Pixie I think). But the small things don't add up. Confusing elevator system coming from Franklin St. Worn & cracked flooring, No toilet paper in women's bathroom keep it from getting 5 stars. The real insult this past weekend - the elevator stopped going to the 20th floor. So you have to walk down the 3 segments making up one floor to get the elevator. (I asked the aloof check-in guy on 20, "what if someone has mobility issues?" and he shrugged and said "No idea." Not a 5 star response or situation.) I'll go back for a drink and the view, but I can do without his attitude!

Service is awful. It's sad because rooftop has alot of potential but they need to educate their staff on better customer service. Thats goes for the manager as well. Not friendly at all! Needless to say I am never going back.

was really excited to try this new place but it definitely has some kinks to work out. We waited at the host stand about 10 mins before a host came to sit us. The decor and vibe of this place is awesome! However, the "serverless" style does not seem to flow well. The food runners were very confused and dropping food/drinks at the wrong tables or just going around asking until they found the right one. It took us about 25 minutes to get our first drinks and it was not too busy; they also gave my friend a margarita instead of a mule despite the long wait. Furthermore, it took around 40 mins to get appetizers and one of our orders got lost and probably dropped at another table (it took about an hour to get the tater tots after we had to inform someone we never got them). We decided not to order mains as it took over an hour to get just appetizers and a drink. Overall, the drinks and food were good, but the lack of service and confusion from the staff made the experience feel a bit disappointing. Hoping that in a few months they are able to work out the flow of service to make this place as great as the view and vibe!

The former Kabana Rooftop (now Solaire) has been improved and refurbished with more shade from the glaring sun without sacrificing the fabulous rooftop views of the city. The bartender looked like Johnny Depp and was excellent! Happy Hour menu and drinks were tasty and refreshing. My colleague and I especially enjoyed swinging on the wicker hanging chairs - so relaxing and fun! Definitely the place to go after work or to show off our beautiful river city to out-of-towners. Loved every minute we were there!

First impressions matter, and this establishment didn't leave a good impression on me. The place closes at 5pm on Sundays. We walked in Sunday at 4:30pm, they had already closed the kitchen and the bar. I might understand closing the kitchen, but the bar? I can drink a beer in 30 minutes. The staff barely let us in to walk around and check out the view. I don't know if the place is good. If the food or the cocktails are good. All I know is that it has 3.5 starts in Yelp (not great), that they technically close before closing time, and that the views of the city are worth going up there just for that.

This place could be nice so we have it a shot. It was so awful we left after one drink. They messed up a soda water and vodka which seems impossible to make that taste so gross. They poured a ton of lime juice and it tasted like water with lime juice. The bugs were insane everyone was slapping themselves. We had to laugh at the whole scene of how bad it was but seriously don't waste your time. Took 45 min for a drink they had two people serving the whole rooftop. We asked a guy that worked there about the bugs and he said it was not bad compared to what it usually is like! Wow we had to laugh and just leave.

if I could leave a negative number I would. as a 2x disabled combat veterans and father my wife and I are visiting from Texas and came for Father's Day brunch. We placed our order and after waiting 15 -20 min I motioned to guy (tall chubby guy with gotee) that took order like where is our food. He came out and was condescending, I don't make it, you think the wait is too long, did you leave a bad review yesterday? I said wtf.. are you always an asshole to customers, I owned restaurants and know how it works so when there was nobody in the place my order should be up in 5-10 min.. French toast and biscuits and gravy. oh! you know how it works? really, that's how you talk to a paying customer. I really have never in my life been this disrespected by a true asshole.

The view is beautiful but that's about it. I went with friends last night and we waited 40 minutes for our drinks. We placed a food order and paid for it already using the QR code at 7:30 and received a text at 8:15 that it was ready. I asked a food runner where our food was around 8:30 and he said the kitchen was "backed up". By 9:30 we still hadn't gotten any food so our group left even though we had already paid. Terrible!!

Great location, short on staff . Gorgeous venue but not enough servers. Great place for pre dinner beverages and sunset.

This new version of Kabana rooftop is terrible. Their tables all say that the restaurant is "serverless dining" but there are still many prompts to tip the servers, which is terrible. You have to order online and pay before receiving anything. There are no places to give special requests on the online ordering and staff that are there don't have much knowledge of the menu. Had to continuously get up from our table to order mimosas from the bar because there is no way to select the flavor you want from the online ordering, and they can't add it to your bill so I had to have a tab at the bar and my table bill. Ordered a brunch entree and asked the hostess ahead of time to tell the kitchen that I would like my egg fully cooked instead of sunny side up, dish came out with sunny side up and I sent it back, second time egg was still not cooked and staff then acted annoyed. Wasn't until I asked for a manager that the egg was then cooked. Just a terrible experience.

Great drinks. Great service. Pixie was very attentive and constantly checked on us. The rooftop view of the city is AMAZING. My partner and I had a great time! Will definitely be back!

All bad, service is bad, food is horrible, drinks are terrible and worst of all the BUGS. This place is covered with bugs to the point where it is impossible to even sit in one place. They will be in your food, drinks, eyes, mouth, nose, and in your clothes. For the price you will leave feeling like you just got scammed. View is really nice though lol.

Fantastic view, probably the best in Richmond for public access. The venue is gorgeous and they have an outside bar! They recently changed the service system so orders are done on QR codes / at the bar. Would recommend!

This place is stunningly gorgeous! Upon walking in this establishment I realized how well the paint color and designs go together! I ordered my first drink from the bar (super friendly bartenders) Summer in Tottori matcha drink really blew me away as well as that Black Charcoal Margarita really hit the spot. I proceeded to get a lounge my server was very attentive and had some good recommendations now let's get into the food, their Brussel Sprouts were delicious followed by the Steak Frites entree with Chimichurri sauce, my compliments to the chef, I had to get the Chocolate Lava cake to satisfy my sweet tooth. Do yourself a favor go check this place out you will not regret it.
